I tried this company with two different park districts and each time it was unprofessional instruction and disorganized classes.

My kids have been taking tennis lessons here with Coach Becky for about a year. And they love her!…read moreIn fact, when I mentioned to my 5 year old son today that I canceled tennis lessons later this week he started crying. Clearly a fan! And then there's my 7 year old daughter who refuses to do any sports, but she happily heads to tennis with Becky each week. She even told me last week that Becky definitely deserves 5 stars on Yelp, which is probably the reason I'm finally getting around to writing this review! Becky is fun and patient with the kids. She does 30 minutes with the my son and his friends, followed up with 30 minutes with my daughter and her friends. It's a fast lesson, but she gets a lot of tennis in during a short time It's impressive to see how the kids have progressed over the year. They are actually hitting the ball over the net now...and had a consistent rally the past few weeks. While Becky was on maternity leave months ago we signed the kids up for tennis at AC Nielsen and I find this to be a much better experience. The facility itself is nice- mostly lots of indoor tennis courts, but also a few outdoor ones as well, which we haven't been so lucky to see this cold spring. There's a small waiting room, but the kids not playing tennis usually just run around the other side of the court while Becky teaches. There's plenty of parking right outside and it's conveniently (or maybe not conveniently) across the street from Target. We've only had private lessons with Becky here, but I've heard good things about their basketball and tennis camps so may sign my son up for one of those in the future. And I may even brush the dust off my tennis racquet and take an adult lesson at some point too.

There are a lot of great parks around Skokie, and I've noticed the ones I regularly drive by (or…read morewalk through) are well-maintained, clean, and there's a great range of options easily accessible to the community (playgrounds, baseball fields, tennis courts, etc.). I also recently discovered the Skokie Park Tennis Center when a friend of mine and I wanted to play tennis. We were looking for a place somewhere equidistant from my place in Evanston and his place on the Northwest side. I had driven past the tennis center numerous times but never noticed it, because it's set back from the road. In the middle of a weekday afternoon we were able to easily get a court and play for an hour. Free, easy parking, well-maintained courts...can't beat it!

You can join athletic leagues (such as indoor soccer, HS baseball, co-red softball, Thursday Softball, CSL flag football, and CSL flag football), rent rooms for private events/parties, catch some great events (such as community theater shows, holiday meet-and-greets, etc.), sign up for seasonal camps (areas of art, early childhood, sports, for teens, etc.), or obtain a membership for their leisure center/uses of gym centers, pools, and the skating rink. I was pretty excited to hear that the District board recently approved of renovating the Weber center, so I can't wait to see the updated fitness locker rooms, the gym additions, and the track that is available to the public! One can easily volunteer for programs as well as register. Check some of their programs out! +events/programs for both residents and non-residents +camps for all areas of interest

The park is located very close to Lake Shore Drive with plenty of paid street parking on a Saturday morning. We booked the class on-line. No instructor information was given. Upon arrival we just sat around looking at each other until the class got started. I think this could of been stream lined much better. I have taken lessons and I do Cardio Tennis with USTA. However my husband is very new to the game. He has never played on a court outside of me trying to teach him the basic once before. I think this would of been helpful information for the instructors to know. I did inform them after our second drill. I think both instructors did a good job after that of modification for him. i.e. using Orange ball. I did enjoy this class. I got a good workout and had a fun time. I liked the warm up and games played. It was a nice way to start out my weekend. Instructors were good at breaking for water. I don't recall a cool down. I would be interested in signing up for additional lessons. It would be helpful to know if during the 4 week lessons if there is a dedicated tennis pro or if the instructors would rotate.
