Normally I don't go on a rant about a company and I am usually all behind any support for our local businesses. However, I just had a storm shelter installed by Midwest Storm Shelters. While we finally got it completed today after the first meeting and site visit on 6/18. Now keep in mind - this is well into the COVID period. I was told by their sales person that we were looking at a July 21 date for install or sooner. As we approached that date, I had not heard from them. So I called to find out the status - I was informed that it was not going to be the 21st, it was going to me July 24th. I was also told that if I don't hear anything it is normal and I will not be called to inform me about the progress. I was free to call in and find out. However, the people answering the phone don't know the status and they tell you to send an email to their sales email address. So I did that and had a discussion with Aaron. He informed me that the shop foreman needed another 2 weeks to get the order palleted and ready to install. So the two weeks pass, and I sent an email and called the office. Again I was told to send an email (already did). Another 2 weeks pass (4 in total from when I was told it would be ready in 2) - No communication and I sent another email and called the office. Two days later I finally got a call and she asked if she could schedule me for last week in August. Finally set on 9/2 to get it installed and I was told that day - truck broke down, can we do it Friday - Sure..... Friday rolls around - Truck still broke. I know for a fact that there are rental agencies that let you use their vehicles.... Nope that wasn't done. So they were going to come out on 9/8 but wouldn't be able to make it out till late afternoon and would finish about midnight (I said no). So 9/9 was the day. Supposed to be here in the morning - showed up at 11:45am (just made morning). started working and had wrong door frame and wrong door. Had to get the right parts and come back. Friday they came back and finished.
Beware when you work with this company. Their communication to the customer is the WORST I have ever seen. This from their office to the Owner - Aaron. I was told repeatedly "well in our contract we will not be in contact with you, so our contract covers us", "if you didn't like it, then don't sign the contract". Everyone tell your friends DO NOT USE or engage with Midwest Storm Shelters. You will not like the service, or should I say lack there of. Oh, and lack of response to any email or messages left. Already sent notification to BBB and Attorney General to investigate their business practices. read more
