We saw your booth at the Madison Home Show this weekend and what a wonderful display. That remind me I never posted a big Thank You for our counter tops. Sorry it's taken so long to write and thank you for our wonderful Midwest Rock Tops counter tops. We had them installed about a year ago and love it! The counter still looks as great as the day it was installed it. We were trying to do an economical remodel of our smallish kitchen and our counter top space was a little longer than the standard one-piece granite slab. We really didn't want a seam and then we stumbled upon Midwest Rock Tops. Brian was able to find a slab long enough which worked perfectly. When he came out to measure our kitchen he suggested used some pieces to make a matching top to a new half wall entering the kitchen and a shelf below the window which we would have never thought about. Product is Good , alot to choose from with a nice Showroom . Sales People are nice to work with . Questionable installers seemed in a hurry ,being the last install of the day and it being early afternoon . Seemed lack of Attention to Datail . Left a uneven seam with a little better shimming before they Epoxyed the seam . The installers tried the feather it with epoxy . Contacting MRT they wanted to charge $$$$ to fix it . read more

Had a solid experience in the showroom, placed my order and discussed the four-to-six week timeline with Jade. They charged a "convenience fee" for using a card for the down payment, and didn't fill in the Complete By date in the contract. I wasn't worried until seven weeks after I had placed the order, still waiting on any communication from the company. Despite repeated requests to call me to discuss, they've communicated only by email, and only after I reached out to ask why my order wasn't done within the terms of the contract. I was told there wasn't a date on my contract but they'd be willing to start work and have it ready for delivery and install in another three weeks. When I declined and requested a refund as they did not fulfill the terms of the agreement, they first refused and then tried to charge an additional "processing fee" to refund my deposit. read more

We purchased quartz counter tops from Midwest Rock Tops in November 2023. Super friendly and helpful in the selection process, but immediately after installation, we noticed flaws and scuffs in our island piece. We called the day after to report our concerns. A week later their installation guy came out and took photos. Another week later they sent us the warranty and maintenance documents from the manufacturer saying "Hope this helps". We then demanded that the OWNER come out and take a look to advise us. Despite repeated phone calls and emails, it was over a month before he came out and agreed we had legitimate concerns. He claimed the marks could not have been their fault, and were likely flaws in the stone. He tried to "fix" one spot using a fine abrasive, which actually made it look much worse! He said he would file a warranty claim, which to our knowledge was never done. We never heard back from him. WE contacted the manufacturer to file a warranty claim. After inspection, they said the stone was not actually flawed, but rather mishandled. Since we were clearly not at fault, they eventually agreed to come out and do a "goodwill polish" which mostly fixed the problems. The customer service we received at Midwest Rock Tops was poor, even after spending over $9200 at their shop. We would urge anyone interested in dealing with this merchant to be very wary. Once they have your payment, good luck getting help with any problems. They require payment in full at the time the work is completed - before their workers leave. If you don't do this, there is an additional $700 charge. read more

Who goes into a job, knowing they're REPLACING an existing area, and doesn't measure it accordingly??! In the process of dealing with rounded edges and square edges, not enough coverage, shims, ripped out tiles and trim. It IS in their contract that they ARE NOT responsible for any of it!! Bunch of crap! If you decide to use this company, you will need to OVER COMMUNICATE and BE PATIENT, because otherwise, you'll want to pull your hair out! read more

Here's the good and the bad and the lessons learned from working with Midwest Rock Tops: The show room is nice and you get 1:1 help while browsing. They let dogs in. You can take home samples, which was really important to me. I felt confident in my decision making when selecting a color. As a salesperson myself, I would never expect my customers to call me to confirm installation the next day, but I'm so glad I made the call at 4:30pm when I hadn't heard from them. Turns out they dropped the piece of granite I had ordered and it was cracked. Ended up picking an entirely new color the night before, and installation got pushed back an extra day. Not the worst in the world, but no water in your kitchen is a pain. The owner came by that night at 8pm with new color samples, so I appreciate him doing what needed to get done to keep things moving along. I was told installation would take 2-3 hours. It took 7 hours. Plan accordingly and take the entire day off of work. The owner also told me I could reassembly my kitchen drawers and cabinets prior to installation. I'm SO GLAD I didn't. There is dust and debris everywhere! Not a big deal, just don't tell your customers that there isn't going to be a big mess when there certainly is. So just take all your drawers out and everything out of your cabinets before they install, and save yourself a bunch of work. Your walls are going to get f***d up. Be prepared. I was expecting a bit of touch up, but not over 2 feet of drywall damage and 6 different areas of walls needing fixing. The owner came out and fixed it up real nice, but also told me 3 times on the phone and 3 times in person "we don't typically do this." Don't make a customer feel bad for asking you to fix your installers gigantic messes. Sink and faucet installation doesn't really mean sink and faucet installation.  They just literally drop the sink in that's attached to the countertop. You pay for countertop installation, but you have to assemble  and install your garbage disposal, your faucet, and all your other kitchen plumbing yourself. This cost me another $500. I just wish this had been made more transparent to me. When I see "install" on the quote, I think install. This is certainly a combination of my lack of knowledge and their lack of transparency, but I would always make sure my customers were aware of the full scope of what they were getting into if they were buying my product. Before signing any quotes or tickets be sure you understand everything on them. For example, on my quote that I signed, the sink was listed as  "stainless steel 5050/6050". As a customer, I have absolutely no clue what this meant. To me, I had pointed to the sink I chose in the showroom, and the assistant (Jade) put that in my order. On install day, the first thing they bring in is the wrong sink! In fact, it was the same sink I had just ripped out of my kitchen! This was their mistake, but I also have to take some responsibility to make sure I understand what every "description" means on their quotes. There was no apology for this, but they were able to bring out the correct sink. Whew! It's a good lesson learned for customers to ask exactly what each item means on your quote. I hope for Midwest Rocktops learns from this as well. Perhaps provide pictures on their quotes for customers or be more descriptive rather than a bunch of numbers before the customer is expected to sign off on that? Even though somebody comes out and measures expect that there will be errors. My 6 inch backsplash was an inch and a half short. They were able to fix it same day but again contributed for the job taking over twice as long is what it was expected to take. Same thing for the corner piece. The corner pieces did not fit together as they should have. And resulted in yet another mistake that had to be fixed. So, all in all, I don't think I would recommend Midwest Rocktops to anyone, as there's so much competition in the Madison area. I would try another business before going back to them. They're nice enough folks, but there were lots of mistakes made along the way that could have been easily presented. As anyone knows that's done renovations, there's going to be issues, but there were issues every step of the way with Midwest Rocktops. read more

We loved being able to walk the floor to see the choices. They jumped right in to help give ideas and help. Their pricing was very competitive-best we could find. We were replacing our countertops in our kitchen and we decided to use MRT, the ordering process was smooth and we put our deposit in and waited 3 weeks for the templating. The guy came out and measured everything (took a little over an hour) and then went into the shop a few days later to pick out the layout on the slab. When we were all done, we spoke to Anna and she said she would call us the week of the install to get us a time frame. The Monday of the week of install came (install on Thursday) and went. I waited and she emailed me on Tuesday morning asking about the hole placement (3 holes), so I called her as I was driving at the time. While on the phone, I gave her how the I wanted the holes to be, and then verified the time with her for Thursday. She stated that we were first on the list for the day and the guys get in around 8am and they should be to us between 9 and 10am. Thursday came and we prepped the area for the guys. We sat there waiting until after 11am, I called Anna to see where the guys were and she stated now we are in the afternoon, and that it could be 2pm as they were cutting the stone...maybe even 3pm. I asked her why the afternoon when she specifically told me first thing two days ago...no answer for that. I had planned for the morning so I was working in the evening instead. I spoke to Brian to find out why and where the communication breakdown was, no real answer..just they are working on the stone and will be there once it is done. They arrived at 340pm and started to work (I had to reschedule my evening plans now) and when they brought in the sink stone, I noticed 2 holes were cut not 3. I called the office and Anna said no problem, they will cut it on site and it will just take a minute. I asked why the issue when she had just asked me via email 2 days ago about 3 holes. No real answer, the guys looked at the hole and where is was to be put and said it would take about another hour, as the bit gets overheated and no water...he would rather take it back to the shop to do it right. He called the office and they said to it on site. He came back to me and his loom said it all...this is going to be a pain. I told him just forget it...as I was already upset and really didn't want another hour added to the day. They obliged and put it in. The small desk area was cut or measured wrong and when they attempted to install it, they damaged the wall. No one even told me, I had to find it on my own. I talked to Anna again and she stated no problem, they will talk to Brian about it. They finished the install about 520pm and I put in a few hours hooking everything back up. The granite looked great...just not happy with service and communication with MRT. Later as I was cleaning up I noticed that the 2 slabs (either side of the range) were different sizes from wall to edge...by 1/2in. Very noticeable. Called the office again and spoke to Brian and we scheduled a time to come back out and fix it. They came out the following Tuesday and fixed the sizing and drilled the 3rd hole. Overall, the stone is great and very happy with it. I,would not ever recommend Midwest Rock Tops to anyone as their customer service leads you to taking 2 days off of work, sitting around waiting all day, and you have to tell them about their mistakes and they simply don't care. I asked for a discount based on all the errors and communication as we were very inconvenienced by them and they stated no, this is how the trades work. I didn't really know what I was looking for and was a little intimidated walking into a place with tons (literally) of granite, quartz and marble. Honestly I sought this business out because I had read a good yelp review. The sales person, Jade, greeted me and I could tell that she sensed that I didn't know what I was doing. I explained that we just needed a small piece of stone to replace the top of a cabinet that had been damaged. She knows how to ask the right questions to figure out what exactly you are looking for. In no time at all we found a remnant that was the perfect size and color and had a beautiful flow. When we were looking through all of the remnants I kept asking her if the price was per square foot or for the entire remnant because they were so inexpensive I couldn't believe it. The remnant is priced as a whole. The cost of finishing the edges was quite minimal, which was another surprise. We got a beautiful piece of stone, at a very reasonable price and in the time frame that was promised. The owner explained to my husband how to install the stone. He was super friendly and helpful. We could not be happier with our purchase and would recommend anyone looking for stone , whether it's for a small piece or an entire house, to check this place out. read more

We needed our already installed granite countertop cut for a new sink. They Midwest Rock Tops was the only place in Dane County willing to do the job. They came out within a week, cut the counter top to fit the new sink, and even repaired a pre-existing crack that was there. We were extremely happy with the job they did and it was a very reasonable price! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Midwest Rock Tops. Scott was unbelievably helpful and excellent about communicating with me and answering all of my questions. I made several modifications to our original design over the course of several weeks, and Scott promptly responded to my E-mails with revised plans and quotes following each adjustment. I also asked Scott to move up the timetable for templating and installation on extremely short notice, and he gracefully accommodated my request. The man who showed up for templating was prompt and professional, and the men who showed up for install were equally prompt and professional--two characteristics that are so important to me in any stressful home renovation! My under-mount sink was expertly installed, and my new countertops are flawless. The kitchen is beautiful, and I could not be more happy with the Midwest Rock Top's Work. Please learn from my mistake and go elsewhere for your countertops. We had a very poor experience with Midwest Rock Tops (MRT) - from scheduling delays, to inventory issues, rushed installation, and plenty of repairs/touch-ups needed afterwards. When we brought our concerns to Brian at MRT, we were met with excuses, denials, and even lies. I can give MRT one star, however, for their lead salesperson Anna who was kind and apologetic throughout our work with them. read more
