Over the last three years, I have rented several times from Midwest for events. These were pretty major - included tents, chairs, tables, tablecloths, portable toilet, etc. Overall the experiences have been very good. Delivery/pick up has been timely, and rental items were in good condition. For one event in 2023, the sound system did not work well at all, since then i have bought my own so I can't comment since then. My only real beef with Midwest is management's decision to rent the showroom out front to a quilting store and push their sales team into what's practically a closet in a warehouse way at the back of the property. I just had my wedding in West Lafayette, IN at the Purdue Memorial Union, where we rented chairs from Midwest Rentals. I am absolutely disgusted by the customer service and price-gauging that this company does. It seems like they are a monopoly in town, but if you can avoid renting from them, please do!! Better yet, if you're looking for business ideas in the area, this might be a good one! For a party rental company, they charge significantly extra for weekend (Saturday and Sunday) drop-offs and pick-ups of rentals. I do not understand how they are in this business if they cannot reasonably accommodate weekends. Cost breakdown: - For 250 chairs, the rental cost $1750 - The drop-off fee on a Friday: ~$100 - Pick-up Saturday after the wedding (INSANE!): $1500+ I was charged an extra $800 fee for Saturday pick-up alone and then when I was on my honeymoon, I received a surprise $500 credit card from them with NO COMMUNICATION. I had been on previous emails with Allison Brooks and NO ONE reached out to the lady who was paying the bills. There was a surprise charge for the chairs not being stacked. I was more than happy to pay the pick-up team for the extra labor, but I'm disgusted that they're turning a profit on the extra time and that those guys won't be seeing that full amount of money. Overall, 36 hours of 250 chair rentals cost me over $4k. This was the worst wedding vendor I worked with and did not provide the customer service that is deserved for payment of such large sums of money. I do NOT recommend using them and do recommend paying for better service out of Indianapolis. I'm just so disgusted by how expensive they were for such BAD customer service. read more

Very disappointed in their service. Tables were set but not locked down and some had rainwater on them. Delivery time changed and they didn't notify me. I asked for 3 sides of the venue to be covered with pipe and drape and they stopped short exposing half of the overhead door. They drew the layout of the booths. When I added another booth by drawing it in, I requested another updated drawing and waa told they were too busy to do it and they could work with my drawing. Because they set up early without calling me, they didn't include my additional booth. read more

Midwest Rentals was contracted through a third party to deliver a 40' shipping container for storing personal belongings. The two-man team that delivered the trailer did a great job of walking through the options for placement with me, and navigating a demanding driveway with a minimum of damage to the lawn. Overall, it was straightforward and professionally performed, in a timely manner. read more

I returned my rented items on a Monday. They called me the following Friday frantically threatening charges and continued to charge me late fees because "I didn't return my equipment". Turns out it was returned and nobody at the company went to actually look if it was there before they called and charged me. Once they realized it was there, they sent the email attached apologizing and giving me a discount. But they already charged all the fees and this will take weeks to refund onto my card. This place is incredibly disorganized and hard to do business with. Office staff were the opposite of friendly and helpful. read more

Unlike the other reviewer from 2012, I actually had great customer service. Their good service started when I first called and told them I was planning an outdoor wedding for March. I was actually planning it in a different state and when that didn't work out we decided to move it to my now husband's home state. Sara from Midwest Rentals basically made me reconsider the weather in March in Indiana for an outdoor wedding. Thank you, Sara. I needed that! Then, I went back and forth with Sara for the myriad of decisions I had to make. She was really flexible, a quality I really came to appreciate during wedding planning. She added and removing items with no problem from the contract as we went along. She also made several different seating plans for us until we chose the right one. We ended up getting A LOT from them. Several tents, pop up tents, chairs, tables, cocktail hour tables, linen, plates/glasses/cutlery, amp, dance floor, generators. Unfortunately it was raining and the tent did have a few holes in it which let a little bit of water toward the sides of the tent. If I were to re-book I would probably ask if they had any newer tents. I was a little bit too happy to care though. A couple of days before the wedding they came out and set the tent up and dance floor. They made a small mistake on the dance floor set up and I realized probably about 15 minutes after they had left. I called and they turned right around with no issues to come fix it. They picked up everything about 3 days after the wedding. We just put everything back under the tent and they stopped by while we were gone. The entire process with them was pretty seamless. The one gripe I had about Midwest Rentals were that most prices are not listed in their website so any time I was wondering about adding something I had to reach out to see the price to then evaluate whether I wanted it or not. Last note: this is on the contract but there's so much going on if you're doing this for a wedding that I almost missed it. About a week before the event you have to call for underground utilities to be marked up. I was a little worried it wouldn't be done quickly enough but it was extremely easy and quick to set up. Awful customer service! My father had talked to the manager Stuart on Wed. and asked him if there were any discounts if you only need the machine for an hour or two, he said I'm sure we can work something out. Upon me returning the rental I asked Josh C. ,the worker behind the counter, if I could see about a discount. (The rate on the tool I rented was $51.00+tax per day) I had the tool back within 1 hour of renting it. Josh very rudely says "Just because your Dad knows someone you want ME to give YOU a discount?" There are other rental stores in town and I will be giving any of those other stores business before I go back to Midwest Rentals! read more
