Came here to grab a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon, while in town for a soccer tournament. The restaurant was semi crowded when I arrived but not overly crowded. Patio seating , inside table top and bar seating were all an option. I opted to just sit at the bar so I could catch the rest of the Bama game. There were maybe 3 or 4 other people at the bar already. I thought sitting at the bar would be "faster"..... it wasn't! Slowest service everrrrrr. Aside from the extremely slow service , the food was great! I really enjoyed my 8 inch americano pizza. It's a traditional supreme pizza. The toppings were very fresh. The cheese and sauce ratio were a little unbalanced. However, I did ask for a side of marinara to go along with my leftovers. Overall , I am pleased with my first time visit here. I do suggest having a clear schedule if you decide to come here. The wait will seem never ending at times.

The Midtowner sandwich (half of it)

I'm obsessed with the Midtowner sandwich and the Genovese pizza. I've also done the build your own calzone with pesto & grilled chicken and it is excellent. I prefer pesto over marinara so I'm glad they offer these options! Service is always friendly and food is always delicious.

We finally found a delicious restaurant in Alabama! Omg I can't say enough! The roasted red pepper appetizer was PHENOMENAL! I also had the El Limón pasta (I think that was the name!) soooo good!

Creat your own pizza--meatball and bacon.

Great pizza and service. Sweet teenage boy seated us and was busing tables. The woman server was super friendly and fun--made great recommendations. The pizza was really good--we all enjoyed what we ordered. Next time I'd skip the cheese bread or downsize our pizza order--too much delicious food. Good selection of beer. We'll definitely stop again if we pass through on our way to FL again.

I must say this is the place! Great food and people.

Italian is my favorite food, so I went in with an open mind and was extremely pleased. First, the interior of this establishment was very impressive. It reminded me of a New York/LA vibe in downtown Montgomery. (With much better parking, of course. Lol). The seats were in a part of the restaurant that provided a view consistent with a VIP experience. Our server was extremely helpful, expedient, and thoughtful. From the meatballs, chicken, and Duck Lasagna, there wasn't one morsel that was not, absolutely, succulent. The meatballs were seasoned to their core. The chicken was very tasty and the sauce served with it was perfection. Now, the duck lasagna, that was the show-stealer. I was very interested on how this would taste, but soon found myself abandoning my table manners and diving right in. After dinner, I was given a complimentary dessert, and get this, a card signed by everyone in the restaurant wishing me a happy birthday. Chef's Kiss. As if that wasn't enough, I was given a complimentary drink for my birthday at the rooftop bar where I was treated to the best rum punch (bartender's recipe with blackberries) I've ever had in my life. The vibe, scene, and Mississippi Delta blues made for a perfect birthday outing! I will be going back as soon as I'm back in the city.

Yes that photo is a small! I heard a few other people in the restaurant comment to the same. We weren't about to complain though as it was just what we needed with fresh veggies and the Gorgonzola dressing was epic! We then moved on to our entree of the Rigatoni Bolognese adding meatballs. There was a hint of sweetness that we got from the cognac and cream! The Sunday gravy component was amazing. I wish that we could have taken a jar of it with us. My husband asked today if I thought we maybe able to duplicate. We maybe able to get close but I double if we could duplicate. The atmosphere was comfortable and upscale without being stuffy while also a laidback bar feel where others could watch the World Cup while enjoying a pizza and beer. By the way, we watched a pizza go by our table and almost snatched a piece. It looked and smelled amazing. If we are ever back in Montgomery we'll be back and would recommend to others. Thanks Blake at the Doubletree Hotel for the recommendation!!

Let's go through the menu so that you can see how many choices are available. If you are eating at Bertolone's you'll see that there are tables and booths to choose from, so there isn't usually a wait. And the servers check in with you shortly after you're seated. If you're doing take-out, your food will be ready when you get there, and your family will be thanking you for the tasty and ample servings. Everyone can have seconds. My family loves the calzones, so many combinations! But when I have family visiting, I go for a variety, so that everyone is happy: usually spaghetti and meatballs, lasagne, and Chicken Parmigiana or Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. Delicious! The family meals run $36.95 to $45.00 and feed four adults, so plenty if there are two adults and three or so children. Pizzas and calzones are $16-$18.50; subs are $14.00. The cakes are to die for, and each slice easily feeds two people. I usually split it with two people so that I don't feel guilty. If you have never been to Bertolone's, take exit 231 off Hwy 65, and try it. It will be one of your favorite Alabama restaurants!
