I brought my puppy here for socialization class and came back for their membership training classes. Cassi and Lindsay have been great trainers and I have noticed a difference in our dogs. They use positive reinforcement for their training method. Midtown Mutts also offers dog walking, 1:1 sessions and pet sitting. My neighbor uses them for pet sitting and she loves them. You pay based on how many visits and the length of time you want them to stay. They take pictures everyday they visit to show you how your pet was that day. Pros: they have a membership and you can choose 1 or 5 classes a month. These classes don't roll over if you don't use them - I made the mistake of thinking they do. They have a calendar where it lists the classes, time and topic. The calendar is a bit clunky and confusing so it takes a bit to figure out how to navigate. If they don't have too many people sign up and you need help in a certain area, they accommodate your request. They have answered my numerous questions and been very patient. I can say my puppy REALLY enjoyed class because he was showered with treats also as a lab, he never turns food down! Cons: if there is a large class and the gym in the same business structure is busy, parking can be a bit hard to find. read more

Cassi with Midtown Mutts is incredible! In one short session, she was able to teach our two dogs, and us, a secret handshake to gain control of our formerly reactive rescues. She helped us understand their behavior, triggers, and how to get desired results. We have enjoyed walks, interactions with other people and their pets, and a wonderful home life thanks to Cassi. We appreciate that she is the dog whisperer! We are so grateful! read more

Love the crew and service. Love the gym membership concept of the training but the website and client portal for booking training is hot garbage. I've been told they are working on it read more

Midtown Mutts is a fantastic service and company and I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I have been using them so far for about two years now and I know I can trust any one dog walker to provide the attention and care that my dog Happy needs while I am away. I appreciate the notes that help bring me up to speed as needed or provide the general overview from beginning, middle, and end of each walk, as well as including fun pictures that are attached. It's also great knowing that there is often repeat dog walkers and I can tell over the course of time/walks that Happy gets more comfortable as well as being pleased with the familiar company. The dog walkers always attend to the instructions I've provided to a T and on the rare occasions when they must reach out, they send a text right away and all continues to be well. Just to note from the bottom of my heart, the company went above and beyond early on to ensure everything will go smoothly for Happy and I in my complex which sets my mind at ease while I am away at work. Because of this, in addition to everything else that that I quickly grew to count on, I can safely say this is one of the best run and most caring businesses I have ever used and enjoy speaking highly about them along with sharing the walk notes/pictures with my colleagues and my own clientele. :-) Thank you so very much, MM!! read more

Can't say enough good things about Midtown Mutts! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about the dogs they work with. My dog loves the trainers and enjoys coming to class, plus it's a great way to tire him out when the weather is bad. We've been bringing our dog here practically since we got him, starting with the puppy socialization classes and now continuing with weekly classes to reinforce his training and learn new skills. I really appreciate that they offer classes throughout the week on a variety of topics with different trainers, so it never feels stagnant or repetitive. They make dog training both fun and interesting! read more

We've used Midtown Mutts dozens of times for midday walks and for a few training sessions. They have also visited our cat for 15-minute sessions. Our dog isn't the most straightforward to walk, but the walkers seem to have a good handle with him. The online system is easy for scheduling walks, and I love how the walkers always send through notes and pictures soon after the walk occurs. Sometimes the person who came wasn't the same person who was assigned, so I wish the notes included the name of the walker (just a minor suggestion!). Cassi took a deep interest in our dog, who has some behavioral challenges that we were seeing a specialist for. We appreciated her down-to-earth demeanor. She was comforting when we had concerns and helped us reframe some of our approach to the challenges. We also did two training sessions with Cassi. There's a preliminary 90 minute session ($140), which included an in-depth discussion about our dog's history and our hopes for training. Cassi can do additional training sessions at $125/hour or a bundle discount (4 is $480 and 8 is $920). The training sessions were pretty good. I wish they had had some more structure and maybe a bit more robust, but since our goal was just making the walks more manageable, we got a few good ideas that made our time easier. read more

When your pup is really more like your child, you have to make sure that they receive the BEST care. Jameson is beyond spoiled - he's co-parented by two people who love him immensely. On the rare occasion where one of us is not available to walk him, we only trust Midtown Mutts to watch his royal highness (hah). Midtown Mutts has always been able to accommodate, even on short notice. I love the pictures that they send following the walk, along with the narrative! Midtown Mutts offers walking services and pup sitting (I believe). I can only speak to the walker service, but it's well worth the cost of Care :) Midtown Jameson is a fan, so 5 starts all the way!!!! read more

Our experience with MM has been nothing short of amazing!!! We've only had 2 sitters come to the house so far and we can already tell a difference with our dogs temperament, activity level, and general happiness at the end of the day. The sitters are amazing, wonderfully attentive, completely engaged in the care of my pup, my dog has an amazing time each time they come and we will continue to use their services ! They follow our instructions in caring for our pup while we are potty training and we definitely appreciate that since we want to maintain a consistent routine with our pup as he's still learning! It's so easy to book an appointment using their online booking, and they always try to accommodate your schedule and timing which makes it so convenient since I do not work set shifts each week at work. It's amazing to have a peace of mind knowing that I can have coverage as long as I submit my requests. I love that we get an email summary of the visit with pictures included as well. It is very personalized and thoughtful of the sitters to do that! I am just very amazed at the quality of service provided by this company. I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to have trustworthy pet sitters come and take care of your pets while you are unavailable :) read more

If I could give Midtown Mutts more than 5 stars I would! We've been using their services for several months now and couldn't be happier. We've used them for petsitting (2 cats, 1 dog), dog walking while we're at work, and dog training sessions. Our (small) dog is fearful of strangers until he gets to know them, so he initially gave the employees quite a run for their money. Many times they were unable to leash him - but one way or another they always came up with a Plan B so that our dog was able to go on the walk, go outside to potty, etc. I really think this says it all. To be able to trust that your challenging dog is going to be well taken care of - and not given up on - when you're out of town is priceless. We also felt our two cats were extremely well cared for while we were away. Obviously they were fed and watered, but the litter was cleaned out every day which we were impressed by. They also made sure to give them lots of love and pets. The email updates you receive after visits are wonderful! They were always thorough and punctual. It was easily evident that the employees truly cared about our pets and treated them as their own. It's not just a side job for these ladies. They truly care and take their jobs seriously! Lastly (but certainly not least), we can't say enough wonderful things about Cassi (owner, I believe) with whom we had five dog training sessions. Cassi is a true wealth of expertise and knowledge when it comes to dogs and dog training (and pretty much all animal related things!). We learned SO much from her and so did our little doggie. She explained concepts and directions well, did a great job educating us, and maybe best of all, treated our dog with the same care and love I imagine she does her own dogs. It's clear that Cassi is passionate about her business and beyond dedicated to what she does. Cassi and Midtown Mutts are true gems in the Sacramento community and we feel so lucky to have found them and become clients. THANK YOU!!!! read more

I've been using Midtown Mutts for a few months now, since I got my puppy. They are the most professional, responsive company. Cassi, the owner, will text you personally to answer quick questions or confirm last-minute bookings. The dog sitter sends a wonderful report after each visit that includes three pics of your dog, a rundown of what they did, activity-wise, pee/poop wise, and other tidbits. It makes you feel that your pet is being well-cared for. Thier website is so easy to book appointments, see your schedule, put in details about your pet, each type of visit, etc. I highly recommend them. read more

Heidi Hurdy is the BEST dog trainer! Winston, my Cavalier, and I worked with Heidi for 4-5 months during the pandemic. I was skeptical about virtual appointments, but they worked great! We used ZOOM in my apartment living room. Now that things are opening up, Heidi has met us at our local park. I can't say enough good things about Heidi's expertise and approach. She is knowledgeable and patient and clear. She took time to learn Winston's personality, his likes and dislikes, and his strengths and weaknesses. She customized all her lessons for Winston, and she kept things fun! I have learned SO much. We worked on obedience and beginner agility skills including heel, long downs/stays, leave it, stand, come, fly, jump, spin, and working with distractions. We incorporated some equipment for our sessions, including cones for heeling practice, a jump stand, and mats/platforms. Winston LOVED his practice sessions with Heidi and I'm thrilled with his progress! I'll definitely return for fine-tuning training with Heidi. Thank you Heidi and Midtown Mutts!! read more

We signed up and had a couple sessions with Heidi Hurdy and we are happy we did. She's very knowledgeable and helpful in the training process. The training process is very tedious but she's giving us plenty of tips and tricks to make sure we are successful as our puppy ages. She is a great teacher since everything is so simple for us understand and implement the practices on a daily basis. I was hesitant at first to join because I thought it would be impossible to do this over zoom, but it is possible if you work with someone that knows what they're doing and teaches well. Thanks for your help! read more

I cannot say enough great things about MM. so, I'll pick a few! I'm recovering from hip replacement surgery and can't walk my Opal enough. I engaged MM for their dog walking services and am extremely satisfied. Once registered with the website, it's easy to book multiple dates, and to provide (via the profile and comments section) contextual info. MM walkers--Lex being the most recent--are super nice, have clearly read the info, and have shown up EVERY TIME. The text before arriving and provide a short written (and English teacher approved) account and pics. I am most grateful and will continue to employ their services. Fees are competitive with great ROI. They also provide training--you know it's really adult training! read more

I adopted my little street Chihuahua right at the beginning of the pandemic. I fostered failed because she stole my heart! But, I had no idea some of the issues she came with...separation anxiety, not potty trained, stress urinating/marking, and fearfulness of new people and new situations. She knew how to love, but didn't really know how to be an indoor pet! I had no idea what to do since we were all quarantined and things were shut down. Dog training over Zoom didn't make sense to me, but I absolutely needed help. And, I am so glad I signed up for training with Cassi! My pup has made amazing progress. And, not being in person didn't subtract from the results at all. In fact, I think it made it better in some ways. I was able to explain the problems we were having and Cassi would go over the training exercises with me. I would then have a very good understanding of the lifestyle changes I needed to make and training I needed to provide my dog. Being over zoom made me more accountable and empowered to make those changes because I didn't have someone coming in, "fixing" my dog and leaving. I got to be responsible for that. And, my dog and I got to really bond through the experience. I am so so happy with the help Cassi gave me! My dog has become much more well adjusted and best of all, I understand how to support my dog to be the most confident and well adjusted dog she can be. Cassi is empathetic and really understands dog behavior. I love her approach to training because she helps builds your pet's confidence and your positive relationship with your pet. She never made me feel like I was doing it wrong. She's all about positive reinforcement and living the life with your pet that works for you. read more

If you are thinking of taking private lessons, I highly recommend Heidi Hurdy. She is a knowledgeable, passionate, and professional trainer that helped me tremendously with my high energy nippy Amstaff puppy! I was very frustrated and Heidi took the time to get to know my puppy, address my concerns, and answer all of my many questions. She came up with a game plan and I put it into action! It was so nice that she also emailed me my "homework " and summarized our weekly lessons. Oh, and if you are a Fenzi person, Heidi is your gal! It is so refreshing to have a trainer that is +R and utilizes clicker training. If you are thinking of booking a lesson, don't hesitate! Without Heidi's help early on, I don't think that Ruger would be the puppy he is today. Ruger is now 10 months old and doing incredibly well. He just earned his Elite Performer Trick dog title and we can't wait to make our debut in the show ring! read more

Midtown Mutts is absolutely the way to go if you need someone to look after your pup. My girlfriend and I both work hectic schedules and there are times where we have to be away from home longer than we like. In those cases, MM delivers every time. Their online scheduling process is super easy and they are incredibly flexible and accommodating with updated schedules or last minutes (ie hour or so) requests for services. We use their walking service to get our dog out and about for an extra walk and couldn't be happier. The follow-up emails, which include a short recap of the walk plus pictures, are really such a fun and personal touch. Everyone we've worked with at MM has been great and Cassie, the founder, is a wonderful person. She came by before our first dog walk and spent time getting to know us, our dog, our apartment/area, etc to make sure her and her staff could provide the best service possible. read more

I am so happy to have found Midtown Mutts! Heidi Hurdy is my toy breed Mi-Ki, Mochi's private trainer. My boy is more timid in temperament and I am a new dog owner. Those two attributes made it difficult for me to help my fur baby in being able to enjoy this world. After a frightful experience at the Groomer's, Mochi started to exhibit behavior issues. I asked Heidi to help me and saw immediate results. Other training she's provided results for Mochi and me is going outside to potty and play; walking on a leash. Mochi and I can't wait for our next session with Heidi. She is so skilled at what she does and I highly recommend her if you are looking to have a well-trained fur baby. read more

I highly recommend Cassie for any of your dog related training needs. She is patient and very knowledgeable about reading your dog. I didn't ever think I was going to be able to walk my 95 pound Dobie "loose leash" but after Cassie's training, he is a joy to walk now. She uses positive, gentle training techniques. Cassie listened to what I was having problems with and helped us address and fix them. read more

I have two spastic, needy dogs - one small, one large. I have a semi-complicated situation involving the large dog, a kennel, the cat, the couch, etc. You get the picture. Cassi was recommended to me from a friend, so I hesitantly gave her a try one day when I had to work late. I came home to a well-mannered, tired dog. This speaks VOLUMES to me about her abilities, as I have tried other pet sitters who left my dog more worked up than before. She is obviously more than competent and Midtown Mutts will be my new go-to dog sitters. read more

If I could give Cassi 6 stars I would! She is wonderful! I knew from our initial interview that I could trust my Katie with her. She's very knowledgeable about dog behavior, diet, different breeds and how to provide the best care for our mutts. Cassi is always consistent, courteous, and personable. She will give your dogs the same care she gives her own beagles. Cassi is also bonded and insured, which is very important to me. Katie and I love her and you will too! read more

Cassi was the absolute best! We chose midtown mutts because our dog is leash reactive and their website specifically says they deal with this. From the get go, Cassi was very realistic about what we should expect and that it was not something that would change overnight. She asked us what our goals for training were and really set up how we would approach training based on what we told her we wanted from it. At times, we didn't even know what we wanted, but she always has great suggestions! She is so knowledgeable about dogs, and you can tell she genuinely cares about your pet. My dog absolutely adores her. In addition, Cassi was always very respectful when coming into our home. Since we did training during the pandemic, she always wore a mask, or asked if we would like her to wear one. She even asked if she should remove her shoes. Overall, training was great and we learned so much. I would 100% recommend Midtown Mutts to anyone looking for training. read more

These folks are the REAL DEAL. I moved to Sacramento and started a new job (transitioning from working at home to working from an office) ... it would be an understatement to say I was nervous about how my pup would make it through the transition. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Midtown Mutts! I will never take my dogs anywhere else. I have a very active, rambunctious Goldendoodle and a sweet, shy Labradoodle. The wonderful staff walk them for an hour a day on weekdays. They love my dogs and my dogs love them. They email me pictures and a note about the walk every single day. It completely makes my day. My Golden is not very good on a leash and can show aggression when passing other dogs. I was worried in the beginning, but they manage her just fine.
