However, after a few more visits, my experience with the administrative and billing side of the office changed my opinion. My son's temporary crown came off a couple of times, which required repeat visits. Everyone remained friendly, but it was still inconvenient. The bigger issue for me happened during my own appointment. I had already paid my portion in advance, and the remaining balance was supposed to be billed to my insurance. I stopped at the desk just to double-check that I didn't owe anything before leaving, and was told they "never know if or what insurance will pay." That immediately raised questions for me because I've never heard that before, and I've never had issues with my insurance not paying. When I asked for clarification, I was met with rude, dismissive responses and passive remarks that made it sound like my insurance might not cover anything. She acted annoyed that I even asked questions after her comments. When I stepped out of the office I realized I had forgotten something and walked back in to retrieve it, two staff members were visibly laughing, clearly about the situation and my questions. That was extremely unprofessional and honestly hurtful. I left feeling very disrespected. I want to be clear that I'm not taking anything away from the hygienists or dental staff, they were wonderful. But overall, the experience was so disappointing. Tori said that is not an option because they have to see what I can afford. I declined to do the financing paperwork up front so I was escorted out of the building. After receiving a quote of over $1,000 for the bone graft--significantly more than the cost of the same procedure she received last year at her regular dentist for about a third of the price--we were understandably confused. We asked to speak with Dr. Drooger to better understand why the price was so inflated. When he entered the room, his demeanor was nothing short of unprofessional. His first words were, "Yeah?"--hardly a welcoming or respectful way to address a patient's concerns. When I introduced myself as her husband and tried to ask for a detailed explanation of the costs and the procedure, his only response was, "It costs this much because I went to school for 16 years." That was the extent of his explanation--no insight into the procedure, no breakdown of the charges, just a rude and dismissive attitude. We were left in disbelief at how we were treated. He didn't explain any of the procedure codes or why this bone graft was priced so much higher than the one my wife had received previously. Instead, he rushed out of the room without providing any further clarification, leaving us feeling dismissed and disrespected. After the encounter, we expressed our dissatisfaction with his behavior, but unfortunately, the damage had already been done. Although his dental assistant tried to answer our questions, the lack of professionalism and medical explanation left us with no confidence in proceeding with the surgery. I hate going to dentist and I thought I had found a good one. At her last practice things were…read moregreat. Things would get fixed and it never felt like you were being a bother. At this new practice it always feels rushed and the treatment reflects that. I've basically begged for help for a year over multiple appointments to deal with teeth pain and bad taste I had around implants. Multiple x rays were taken across two trips from what I recall, and kept being told I was all good. Eventually I had to assume they didn't know what they were talking about or just didn't want to deal with it so I went out for other opinions because they just wouldn't help me get to the cause. And this wasn't severe pain and I wasn't looking for pain treatment, I just wanted to fix the tooth and get rid of the taste I knew wasn't right. After seeing another dentist, an oral surgeon, and a prosthodontist I can assure you there was a lot wrong for quite awhile. Some of these other dentist have much nicer x rays and technology but they said even with older machines it should have been clear. But because I had waited too long to see them I am now looking at implant removal, maybe two of them, and then bone grafts to rebuild and then hopefully a reinstall of implant(s). I'm seeing multiple specialist because some want to pull one implant and some want to pull both because of how bad it got. Then I have to explain I haven't been ignoring my teeth, have been going in for cleaning every 6 months, and have specifically brought up there area in question for over a year and for some reason, the dental professional I put my faith and money into, steered me completely wrong and then wouldn't even return my calls since all this. Don't worry though I paid that last bill you were able to send even though my calls and voicemails were ignored. Do yourself a favor, protect your teeth and your own wellbeing and see someone who has the time, skills, and technology to get yourself treated correctly.

Since I had a full exam within the last 3 years, my insurance wouldn't cover it fully and it cost me $118 for the visit. I'm not upset about this because it makes sense that as a new patient, I would need to establish care and get a full examination. Just make sure to check with your insurance if they will cover a full exam so there aren't any surprises. I only had to wait 10 minutes before being called back by the dental hygienist. She was very kind and explained everything before she did it. She had a soft hand as well. When she was done with my cleaning, I didn't have to wait long to be seen by the doctor. As a patient with minimal dental issues, I had zero complaints about my appointment as a new patient.
