Classic diner fare in the UES. Nothing more, nothing less. Come here if you're looking for a diner vibe especially late at night since they're open 24/7. However as far as diner food goes I would say it's fair/just ok. Keep this in mind for those late nights where you just need a place to debrief and end the night and satisfy some breakfast cravings at 4am. Otherwise, personally I wouldn't feel the need to come back. The pastrami sandwich was just okay and the fries felt a little under-fried. Maybe we just got the wrong things.

I don't visit the UES often but we started walking downstairs from 100 street around 1am and, sadly, none of the bars kitchens were open. Thankfully, this was! We sat in the booths which are kind of tight. Ordered the appetizer sampler and Greek salad. Was good for the time of night and the service was exceptional :)

Midnight Express Diner is a gem--you truly can't go wrong with anything you order! I've been there a few times, and let me tell you about my latest experience. For brunch, I went with my mom and nana, and everything was on point. I ordered the Banana Nut French Toast with scrambled eggs, and that French toast was heavenly--soft, fluffy, and the bananas were so fresh. Mom went for the classic--grits with cheese, two eggs sunny side up, and sliced tomatoes. Nana had the Mr. "Healthy" Omelette, which came with grilled potatoes. Everyone left satisfied! For lunch, I had to try their BBQ Cheddar Bacon Cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, and it did not disappoint. That burger was top-notch--juicy and flavorful, and those sweet potato fries were the perfect side. I topped it off with a Frosted Flake milkshake, and honestly, it was the cherry on top of a great meal. Midnight Express Diner is a must-visit, whether you're craving breakfast or lunch--you just can't go wrong!

We came in before the lunch rush and glad we snatch a spot in a booth, services was okay, understandable since it got really busy and the food is great. I got the chicken Cubano panini (it was a bit salty for my liking so if you are salt sensitive like me, ask for the relish and mustard on the side. ) It comes with a pickle and cole slaw or if you wanted to get a deluxe that has fries. Portion was big, i didn't finished my panini, so save the other half for later meal. I would rate the panini a 8.5/ 10. In addition I ordered a bowl of fruits to have a balance meal. My boyfriend got the mixed berry pancakes, as you can see in the picture it's HUGE and also we took the rest to go. 8/10 is what he gives it. Yes, it's a big pricy for a diner but hey, it's open 24/7 and has free delivery, can't get better than that. One of the places so far that I've been to that has nice decor and the place is clean for a diner.

RATING: 3.5/5 -- Came as a big group of 11 on a Saturday around 1pm. The diner was full, but thankfully we only had to wait ~10 min for tables to clear. Really appreciative of the service here - they constantly came around to check on us. I ordered the Western Omelette, which came with a side of toast. The omelette was a bit overcooked to my liking, but the breakfast potatoes were good! The table had the condiments needed - salt/pepper, ketchup, hot sauce. Only con is that the menu items are a bit overpriced. Overall, this is a good enough neighborhood spot with large portions + extensive menu that has the typical diner fixings.

Midnight Express has been a family favorite for over twenty years! I remember when I came to visit from Florida and we ate here my very first time! Since then I've had many visits. The food is prepared just like I ordered and my daughter is always happy with her meal. The menu has so much variety there's no reason not to find something delicious. I've never had trouble getting seated. If you're in my neighborhood let's eat here and you can treat!

A diner that is open 24/7 which anyone can appreciate! You know what you are getting without too many expectations! Run of the mill diner! Service was quick!

I got the steak salad and I've never had one of these before. It tasted so good! Although the order was to-go, the steak was still tender. I loved how they included onions, tomatoes, mozzarella bites, and mushrooms on top of the salad. The Italian dressing fit perfectly with the ingredients and the salad honestly made my day because I was craving something healthy. The service was pretty fast and the workers were friendly. Ambiance seemed like it was a cozy place. I appreciate that they are open 24/7. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Not close to where I reside but good food and fast service, I got my order in ten minutes! Open 24/7/365 with a typical "Diner" look and feel. I wish I didn't have to travel over a mile an a half to get there.

Decided to give this place a try since we were in the area and looking for a nearby breakfast spot. Overall, great experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive (almost a little too attentive, as they took away one of our plates prior to us being done, it's ok). We started with coffee and orange juice. I like that they continuously come around asking if you want a refill of the coffee. That's definitely great! The food was pretty good also. Mozzarella sticks, delicious. Chicken quesadilla, delicious. French onion soup and blueberry pancakes, I've had better, wouldn't get either again. We only wanted two pancakes, but he said the order came with four and it would be the same price regardless. Scrambled eggs with cheese/bacon/ and home fries, they give an extremely generous amount of cheese and bacon! This was also a good dish. I would definitely return to this place and I definitely recommended if you're in the area and looking for a breakfast or lunch spot! (Not sure what kind of dinner options they have.) Ambiance is pretty standard, clean.

*3.5 round up to 4* My boyfriend and I are big diner fans and decided to try Midnight Express. Prices were reasonable but I give the 3.5 rating due to the food I was served (my omelette lacked seasoning) and the cleanliness of the jelly/butter served to us, as well (very sticky, felt like honey on the outside which was odd). But the service was for the most part attentive and good on refills for coffee. I also liked the booth we sat in that was in the middle of the diner and there was a lot of space to sit. The bathroom air dryer was also odd and wouldn't work. Some room for improvement, but a solid 3.5 experience for me.

I think I've written a post before, but just in case I didn't I had to do it right now while I am eating the most delicious Caesar salad with chicken that I've ever had. I was away for three weeks and I was craving this salad because it literally is the best chicken chicken Caesar salad I've ever had! I just walked in my door didn't even unpack, and I ordered my salad and I'm sitting here loving everybody

I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!

I'm a big fan of the jalapeño double cheeseburger, prepared (smartly) with sliced fresh jalapeños (as opposed to icky pickled jalaps). I prefer it without the sauce, but to each their own. One thing that makes 7th Street Burger so compelling in that they offer vegan burgers which taste just like the real thing. It's truly an impressive culinary feat, in addition to being a sane and sensible option both for non-meat eaters and customers simply seeking a healthier burger. I've eaten here several times but, in the interest of full disclosure, I did recently get a free meal as part of a Yelp event. Try out the new mobile app if you prefer to order ahead and earn some rewards as well. I recommend taking your order down the street to Judy & Punch where you can get a refreshing adult beverage to wash down your meal on the back patio. Summer is coming.

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

The fish was cooked to perfection, the cannelli beans I thought were going to be weird but it added a nice creaminess to the fish. Lastly the swiss chard was crunchy on the ends and nice and tender on the leaf. This should be put on the regular menu. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=xNVfJCmf89OOY-1ME3FY7Q Controfiletto- grilled prime angus N.Y. strip steak served with roasted marble potatoes. I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce. This was good but came off a bit plain. The pasta was homemade but it was almost to a fault since the pasta came out too soft. The flavors were good but I felt this would have been a better, reheated the next day kind of dish.
