We love that the most pictures on Facebook and Instagram so you can see your pet everyday. Cons: There is a confusion about pickup times displayed on its website versus other forms of communication. After a certain time, they will charge an extra daycare charge after boarding. No cameras to check-in on your pet(s).

I love how--when I tell Pierre (8 yr old Pek-Chihuahua mix) he's "going to Big Red's"--his ears…read moreperk up as head cocks, eyes light, and the last three minutes of our drive there are filled with excited whining--he actually nearly chokes himself on the car leash when I open the car door, leaping from the SUV to race into the building with a huge smile, forgetting all about Mom immediately. HE's gone there for over two years now for daycare twice monthly and many times boarding, and owner Blair knows him well, greeting him by name. I've ALWAYS been treated with respect and professionalism by the staff. He had gone to another local daycare for a couple years prior to that and I didn't return after an unpleasant experience. I personally really like the fact that they understand canine behaviors, and will not allow truly aggressive dogs there, but that all dogs, large and small, can romp and playfully rough-house in canine fashion, with positive supervision. We love Big Red's!

5 Stars - Highly Recommend! I can't say enough good things…read moreabout Hounds Town in Indian Trail! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's clear they truly love what they do and care deeply about every dog that comes through their doors. They took the time to get to know my dog's personality and needs, and I felt completely at ease leaving him in their hands. Their professionalism shines through in everything--from how they communicate with pet parents to how well they manage the dogs. It's such a relief knowing he's in a place where he's not only safe but having a great time too. If you're looking for a doggy daycare or boarding facility that's clean, caring, and run by true dog lovers, this is it!

At first, I wasn't sure what to think given the sort of nondescript building and area it sits on but, I needed a place for my girls to stay for 9 days while we went away on vacation and decided to give them a try. I had seen a few negative reviews but, the majority were positive so, one shot is what I figured they deserved. Typically, when my girls come home from a long kennel stay, they look miserable. They typically look like they haven't eaten much and I swear they look at me like I'm a horrible fur mom for leaving them wherever they went. That was totally not the case here. In fact, when the door was opened to let them into the lobby where my son and I were standing to pick them up, they ran to the two employees in the room instead. Not only did they look happy and healthy but, they smelled great (no I didn't request a bath) and all of their bedding had been washed! It was obvious they had eaten well and were happy. When we got home, rather than immediately crashing, they even played a bit and stayed awake for a good bit of time. I will definitely be using Hounds Town in the future for not only kennel needs, but for daycare this summer!

DO NOT BOARD AT LUCKY DOG! The dogs are most definitely not lucky when they're here…read more Our two dogs have come home covered in pee multiple times. When we dug further into it we found out they were NOT caring for our dogs. They have only 2 handlers for upwards of 100 dogs. One of our dogs came home with a huge gash on his face and they didn't catch it, or report it to us. They come home anxious every boarding visit. When we dug further we found out that one of our dogs was so anxious she was chewing on a cot (she doesn't chew things at home, or any other boarding place we've ever used.) Instead of telling us, they just made a note in their system that she doesn't get a cot... We asked them to kennel together and so both of our dogs were sleeping on cold hard tile floor for their entire stays, sometimes as long as a week or two when we've taken longer trips. Instead of taking any responsibility for any of this they blamed our dogs. Their manager confirmed to me they don't require handlers have ANY certifications or qualifications. I asked for a GM or assistant GM to get in touch with me about whether they even do background checks and they are ignoring us. Lucky Dog used to be great when they were family owned. Roughly around 2022 they were bought out by a corporation called Village Pet and it's clear they are trying to suck as much profit out of the business while they can. They've raised their rates and cut down on the staff. In NC handlers can only have 10 dogs out per handler so your pets are NOT getting as much attention or outside time as they should be. This place is the worst. We have 4 friends that also used Lucky Dog and after hearing what was happening they're also finding another boarding place. We'll be telling anyone who will listen to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE.
