Took my wife's 2015 Honda CRV to Midas (1415West Chester Pike) 3/16/26 for state inspection. I was called later in the day and told that the car barely passed inspection and that the front brakes and rotors only had 1% weare remaining and for the brakes,rotors and brake fluid should be replaced at the cost of $800. I declined and replaced the brakes and rotors myself. The brake pads still had 60% left and the rotors look like new. I took the old pads and rotors back to the Manager at Midas (Kyle Grant or KG Strmor?) Don't know WHICH how I was given a card with both names and a note for a free oil change, I have been going to this store on and off for several years for inspections and there always a different manager. They sometimes try to cheat you but this was above and beyond trying to steal $800. Needless to say I am done with Midas. there is not a RATING LOW ENOUGH. read more

went to get an inspection. said I needed an oil change, windshield wipers, and some other thing that would be $1000+ for that alone. oil change wasn't needed. got it done less than a month ago. asshat said this because he saw a sticker... meaning he didn't check the actual oil... then the windshield wipers being streaky.... not at all! total bullshit. and for the other $1000+ part needed.... fuck you. I go to another place and ZERO issues. I wouldn't write a review. UPDATE: I spoke with Colin from corporate regarding my recent service appointment and review (8/31/23). We went over the whole service experience from the start. He had agreed and apologized on behalf of the service team at the west chester location. He offered a refund for the $400.00 labor charge. I am still in the negative with the cost of the exhaust, but I am ok with the result. He did stand by the faulty work completed by his staff. At the very least, he is now aware of the problem at that location so that it hopefully doesn't happen to another customer. Colin has met me half way and I think it is fair. I had my car towed there so it was a Sunday I knew with the problem was because I have a device that you can stick in your fuse box and I'll tell you what is going on with your car so I need a camshaft sensor so the next day they called me and told me That I needed to camshaft sensor and they were going to order the part and it will be fixed the next day. The next day comes they order the wrong part. They have to order the part again. Meanwhile they told me the price was 369 the next day they tell me it's 600 and some money and I asked why and they told me they ordered the wrong part and then they were just skating around, the answer which I said don't touch my car anymore. I didn't realize that they took the car apart so I got it towed from there to another place and lo and behold. They fixed it for $280 so they were giving me some OK they tell you price and they tell you another price and they can't even explain why they took your car apart and really, customer service friendly they should've put the car back together the way they got it and had the nerve to charge me $105 never ever ever go there again scammers and rip offs read more

I recently moved to the area. My check engine light came on randomly and I wasn't sure where I would go. I wanted something close by but was praying for a go to spot when I was driving by. The manager Rico and mechanic Felix were super helpful and great to work with. I felt comfortable with the information and was thankful they were knowledgeable and super helpful! SCAM! DISHONEST! UPDATE: was told I would get a private message on my Yelp & Google reviews... have yet to get a message... Worst customer service I've experienced. Called Midas (West Chester Pike, PA) and got quoted 59.99 for synthetic oil change. Made appt. Went to pay with this $10 coupon and they then said the price is now 69.99! They even had a display piece in the office with a piece of paper taped over 59.99 to show 69.99. I have the itemized receipt showing 59.99 for an oil change was told that is the $10 discounted price. Completely scam... everything is itemized to equal 59.99. The man at the desk & the manager were extremely rude and dishonest. And this was the ending of a already terrible experience.... I Brought my car in at 9:30a for 10am appt & told them I need my car by 3pm! (5 hours) Called at 230 to confirm my car was done because I was never contacted. Was told "Um well do we have permission to go in your trunk for key lock to rotate tires" 1. Duh. You have my car key. Do your job. 2. Why is this just being asked now? At 230pm, because I called you!? I proceed to ask "Will my car be done 3PM, I have another appt at 3:30p" and was told YES !!! Showed up to my car on risers. Unfinished. No apology, no explanation. I brought up that I was lied to and would have just appreciated honesty. Both men proceed to get defensive and YELL in my face. You know, I have been going to this location for many years with several different vehicles over the years. This past time, however, really made me mad and I just still have it on my mind. I went for an oil change since they have a good price on that. However, I asked them 3 TIMES to make sure to please check the low air pressure in my tires. Which is apparently (?) not part of the "courtesy inspection" of the vehicle. (hmmmm....) But they supposedly rotated my tires as part of it. When I left, I was told that if the tire pressure light was still on that it "may just take a little while to go off and if it doesn't go off to bring it back and they can manually reset it" (hmmmm.....) Ok........(red flag reaction!) So I leave and the light remains on. I go straight to the gas station to check the actual air pressure and guess what? My one tire was at PSI 22 when my car is PSI 33.....so obviously, they DID NOT CHECK MY AIR PRESSURE. So, they didn't do what they said they were going to do. I also noticed that they did not put a sticker on my windshield for the oil change either, which is now making me wonder, did they ACTUALLY even change my oil??? hmmmm...... read more

I brought my car in for an AC recharge, after my vehicle stopped blowing cold air. I've only had this unit and compressor for 4 years, yet I was told I needed a new compressor. Okay fine, so I get the compressor, and was only quoted around $750 on the phone. Tech calls and tells me and says that it's not blowing all the way so they're gonna keep it until the next day and flush the system. Okay. Keep in mind, was not given a price on that. Pull up today and I owe $1150 bucks. For what?? I don't even ask, I want my car back. I was charged an extra 200 dollars for what some garages are willing to do for less than $50 (Recharge). I thought $720 was steep for the compressor and then I was blindsided. I've been going here for almost 3 years now with no issues, and the old manager was super helpful. Like wouldn't send you home until the job was done right kind of helpful. Well the company was apparently bought out and I guess corporate greed has taken over. I was very surprised by previous reviews. Perhaps the management at this location has changed. I was beyond satisfied with my experience. Quite frankly, the Store Manager, Giovanni, made my day! I had to make an unexpected stop upon finding a nail in my tire. There were a couple customers in the waiting area so I thought I would be turned away (not having an appointment). Giovanni greeted me & explained he could address my issue as soon as he took care of the customers already present. I understood his reasonable reply & waited. While checking out the last customer, I heard him explain all they had done, that the source of issue was not yet discovered, additional steps that could be taken & recommendations. Such straight forward talk & honesty I rarely find at auto service establishments. He then addressed me immediately upon that customer leaving. He took my car right back. Meanwhile, Alec was in & out of the waiting area working. I asked him some questions & he was also very friendly & professional. Giovanni then returned with the good news that he was able to plug my tire! I have been to other car service establishments that will not even see me if only service I require is a tire plug & others that have told me they do not do plugs anymore. They make it sound like industry norm which is great way to sell a new tire to unsuspecting customer! I will definitely return to this Midas for future car service needs without hesitation! Very rude because we didn't print off the coupon to take to the store. I'm not giving a 1 star because upon looking again it does say to print the coupon, however, I've never been to a Midas where the coupon needed to be printed. Every other time the coupon has been automatically applied, and given that your store is a chain I expect consistency. We made the mistake, but if you want us to come back and spend money at your store then be polite about it. If your customer service is bad on something basic then my assumption is that when I need major work done then I'm going to have a hard time dealing with you and not stop by in the first place. read more

My sister brought her tire here to be repaired. They ripped the bead on the tire and broke the tire pressure sensor. They offered a new sensor but would not replace the tire. I've been a mechanic for 40 years and they tried to tell me the bead got torn while she was driving. The tire never came off of the bead while she was driving. Be very wary of this store. I would not recommend this place for sure. First they gave me quote way higher than market. Then I looked up online for parts cost and it was one third what Midas was quoted. So, when I showed them that, definitely they did not like it and did the horrible job on labor side. Now I came to know that master cylinder fluid is leaking and I have to change the caliper completely. I am going to Honda for sure as we can't trust these guys. Stay away from this Midas in West Chester PA, I took my car to get emission and State Inspection on July 31 and that was a big mistake. After their Mechanic inspected my car he went in to the office where his manger was and shut the door. After about fifteen minutes they both come out and the manager calls me to the desk and says you are going to need a right front control arm and for the part and labor it's going to be $385 plus tax. Then a few minutes later the manager comes back out from his office and tells me bad news, the Acura parts department gave him the wrong information and the part needed is a control arm bushing for $465 plus labor. When I questioned how can a bushing be more than the control arm, the manager said that's Acura for you. I told the manager I will get back to him and he only put on the emissions sticker and said when I returned for them to install the bushing he would put the state sticker on. After talking to different Acura parts department, they all informed me the control arm is available and recommend replacing the control arm and bust just the bushing, because of the labor involved. I was unable to get an control arm from any of the Acura discount sites since they were on back order and was able to get just the bushing, but had to wait a few days for them to get the part sent to their parts department before the could send it to me. The price for the bushing was $201 and when I called back the manager to ask how he was going to charge me $465 for the same part he didn't have an answer. When I got the part I took my car to Lee's Auto Repair and they installed the bushing and informed me that the bushing only had a small crack and didn't really need to be replaced. But since I tried to do it myself first and had it halfway off, it had to be replaced. When I took my car back to show the receipts for the bushing and Lee's auto to get my state sticker place, they said they can not do that and wanted to charge me for another state and emission for them to put the sticker on. When I saw the manager I asked how can you charge me when I paid for everything already and why were you going to charge me $465 for the bushing when they go for $200? He asked me did I get the part from Acura and when I said yes and wanted to show him the receipt, he walked away from me. So I reported him to Midas's compliant department and when I received a call from their district manager and went over everything with him, he said I would need to bring my car back for them to re-inspect the car and he couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't find anything different. I said absolutely not I don't want them to look at my car again and the reason for that is I didn't like their mechanic going through my car when it was in their shop. The district Manager said he can only just me a refund for just the state inspection and that is all he can do. The district manager said he would ask the store manager how he came up with that price and that's how it ended. This Midas Manager at the West Chester PA location needs to be terminated, it was very obvious what he was trying to do, and I strongly recommend not going to Midas in West Chester Pennsylvania and if you go to a different Midas, question them if the price seems ridiculously high. I am not going to drive back to that Midas for the refund, because I believe I should be reimbursed not only for the state inspection, but for the part that I really didn't even need. read more

Brought my car in to Midas (West Chester, PA) because my exhaust was loud. They looked at it and quoted $1,500 to replace various parts of the exhaust system. When I balked, they reduced the price to $1,050. So how honest was that first quote? I decided to take it to another shop to get another opinion. The other place found a broken exhaust clamp which they fixed for $150 (parts and labor). Pretty big difference! On top of all this, Midas charged me a $25.00 fee just to put my car on the hoist and "diagnose" the problem. So I'm out $25 but a small price to pay for the lesson to avoid this place at all costs! Be careful when you go here ... either they don't have the expertise to correctly diagnose exhaust issues, or else they're just trying to sell you expensive parts that you don't need. read more

This place tried to scam me out of $1200. In a pinch I took my car there for a state inspection and they told me that I needed all of my tie rods replaced inner and outer on both sides. My car has under 60k miles there is no way the tie rods had to be replaced. I told them that I would take my car else ware and had to pay 40 dollars for labor. I took it to another shop and the car passed with no issues. Bottom line is you cannot trust this place. I will never go back. read more

Cory the shop manager has no place in a business setting. He is not willing to take responsibility for the mistakes that his shop made. I purchased 4 new tires and less than 6 miles down the road one was flat. When speaking to Cory he was dismissive and unapologetic about the situation. He said he would look into it and let me know what had happened. After waiting for hours after his shop opened for him to call me with a resolution or any kind of explanation, I decided to put a customer complaint in on their website. The District Manager, Shawn, called and explained that the store had installed a faulty valve stem which cause the tire to rapidly deflate. Shortly after our conversation I received a call from Cory and he told me the same, trying to avoid that his techs had been the ones that installed it. I had to tell him that I was already informed that this was his error. I was offered a free oil change on my next visit. I was also told that the "free" work that they did to repair the valve stem was compensation enough for my experience and that they would not refund any part of the work they had done. I informed Cory that I would not return for a free oil change to a place that I did not trust. Offering future services for failed service is a ridiculous practice and you have lost me as a customer. If i could give them 0 stars i would. I just want to pass on our experience with Midas in West Chester on West Chester Pike. My daughter needed an oil change and inspection so we decided to try out Midas since they are so close by. Big mistake. We have a trusted mechanic in Paoli we normally use and I never thought to tell her not to leave anything of value in her car. Unfortunately she left her Apple Air Pods in the car. One of the mechanics went through her console found her AirPods and switched out her AirPods with their disgusting well used ones that barely work. The next day when she went for a run the AirPods wouldn't connect to her phone automatically like they should and upon further inspection she noticed the rough shape they were in. We went back to Midas and spoke with the manager who was cordial but uninterested. He gave us the District Managers name and said the DM would call us in a day or 2. A week later we still have heard nothing. In the meantime I called Corporate Customer Service who has basically told us they can't do anything unless we can prove it. Bottom line...If you bring your car to Midas make sure you have your nanny cam set up and you don't leave anything of value in your car. Tough lesson for a 19 year old. Hopefully this can help someone else avoid the headache we're going through. read more

This place is the BIGGEST most UNPROFESSIONAL place to take your car. FREE inspection yeah but they will make up lies on why your car failed the inspection and it will cost you. They wanted 2000 dollars to "fix my car". Little did they know my brother is a mechanic down in Maryland unfortunately I can't get inspections stickers down there obviously not PA. Had a check engine light come on 3 months ago for a slight leak in the EOV which said not a big deal nothing to worry about light went off and never came back on. Had my oil changed. All green boxes checked indicating everything is up and running perfectly. Ok now inspection is due 3 months later and guess what they found all these problems. Need new tie rods struts shocks air filter wind shield wipers etc costing 2000 dollars. 3 months ago all green now all red. Ummm mind you only but a little over 1000 miles in those three months. Brother fixed the " supposedly" bad parts and he said they was nothing wrong and they were trying to scam you. Again luckily he "fixed" the non broken parts for free saving me 1000 bucks which took him 3 hours. So I guess they wanted 333 1/3 dollars per hour and a thousand for parts which he paid 450 dollarS for so 120% mark up. Took my car there today for re inspection and the machine was down so they could do it. No courtesy call or anything. Took my car to fred beans of WC and finally got my inspection sticker. The Better Business Bureau has been notified. DO NOT TAKE OR CAR here unless you have money to burn. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a brake test when our babysitter said that the brakes on our car weren't working. I drove the car myself and it seemed fine, but decided to bring it in anyhow just in case. The folks at Midas were patient, thorough, and didn't try to upsell me. Turns out my brakes were "excellent"-- and my babysitter's driving was not. What I liked about Midas West Chester was that the people working there took time to explain what what they found (in my case, heat soaking of the rotors in the rear of the vehicle, most likely due to the babysitter slamming on the brakes)-- as well as what they didn't find (issues with the brake pads). It was nice to walk out of there without services that I didn't need... and because the break check-up was free, there was no charge (although I did leave a tip as a gesture of appreciation). Grateful. If I ever need brake work, I'll go back to this location. read more

Avoid like the plague - ripped me off to the tune of $850 trying to correct a vibration issue that sounded like an exhaust leak. After two visits (and $850) to replace the exhaust manifold gasket (which they claimed was the cause) the noise was worse than when I initially brought it in! To make matters worse after the second visit we were at the shop at 7:30 am (their posted opening hour)to pick up the car and they were closed - after waiting 15 mins we left and returned in the afternoon. Took my car to the Honda dealer - they quickly diagnosed the problem - the AC compressor mounting bolts were loose - they quickly (and cheaply)more paired the issue. And guess who last worked on the AC compressor?? Yep - you guessed it! The crew at Midas in 2015. read more

i went in needing brakes, took it to king of prussia, they messed up and i didn't want to drive it in that condition so i took it to the nearest midas which happened to be this west chester site. they quoted me around $900 for things that did not need to be replaced. in the end i ended up paying $1400 [when i went to this one, it was because the king of prussia one messed up my brakes] plus another $250 at a real garage for their mistake. honestly all they do is fix it so it breaks - midas in general, not just this site. read more

Living right down the road I thought it would be be great to have a Midas nearby. Not so much. I took my car here twice. The first time the staff was incredibly rude and hassled me about a long list of services I "needed". Having just moved, I'd had my transmission flushed, wheels rotated.... the works. On my second visit, the staff was even ruder.... I was told I needed my filter replaced, however I had just replaced my filter a week before (one of the few things I do myself). The staff member proceeded to argue with me until I had to ask to be taken to see the filter in question (which was clean). They even paid my UBER back and forth because some very unusual circumstances caused things to take longer than expected (20 year old car, with difficult to remove, rusted on parts). Honest, helpful, cost-conscious folks-how refreshing. I was having my mentally-ill brothers car repaired because he was in the hospital. Because his disorder causes him to be distrustful, I had to be sure to very carefully explain what was done and why. These guys bent over backwards to help me including providing a diagram and allowed me to take accompanying photos so that I could easily explain the repairs needed and why they had to be done. These things helped me to explain it all to my brother without arousing his suspiciousness. They also gave me cost-saving options which i really appreciated and explained everything very carefully to me. I had two different men named Chris helping me and they were each outstanding. Thank you for your honesty, kindness, fairness and compassionate approach to an otherwise very difficult circumstance. When my boyfriend and I moved we were elated to find a Midas not 10 minutes away in the event we needed our cars repaired. However, I've come to find out that it is better to just drive by this Midas than patron them. Let me start by saying I know there are a decent amount of people who can be disgruntled by spending money on their cars. However, when I spend in the upper hundreds early thousands for a repair I'd like to at least feel like I'm more than just a paycheck with legs to the people I deal with and give my money to. The first annoyance was when they called with a quote for the work I was getting done on a timing belt replacement and tried to charge me for an oil change. I had just been in (to their establishment) a week before for one . The gentleman said 'Oh well we usually check the sticker...' apparently they didn't bother to do that before calling me or creating a quote, they attempted to list it to see if I would notice. I won't blame them for the motor mount that broke or the original scheduling my appointment on a holiday (I probably should have known better but who am I to know if you keep your business open on holidays?) because everyone makes mistakes. However, when I called Thursday to see about picking up my car (after nobody called ) I was told I was not allowed to pick it up because the acct was not paid for. This is AFTER I gave them all of my credit card information not 24 hours prior. Had they bothered to once again look in the file they would have seen this. Finally, adding insult to injury they also charged me for a coolant flush and half-way up 202, in the middle of rush hour the next morning, my car started smoking. After pulling over and a kind gentleman helping me, we figured out the problem. My coolant reserve to the left of my engine was bone dry and I am now getting a run around from the employees. Apparently both the gentleman I spoke to not 2 days before, the two head men at the shop, no longer work there and apparently everything else can be explained away to me being irrational or them 'not being able to see it'. Three people I have already spoken to have told me that it does not matter and that container should have coolant in it. This tells me not only did they mess up but they are attempting to cover it! It all seems very shifty to me. If you want feel like you're appreciated as a customer and know that your car will come out better than it did going in (and that the mechanics won't cover their tracks IF they mess up) save yourself the time and don't bother with this Midas. read more
