I went in for an inspection. The ladies in the front office are fantastic. However, the mechanics our thieves. They told me a bunch of things that needed to be done, and it was all unnecessary. They said my brakes barely passed inspection and that they were barely 2 mm. I just went to an honest mechanic, and it turns out my brakes are at 5 mm. Also, the spark plugs that they say need to be changed because they are overdue aren't actually due for another 20,000 miles. It's so lovely that we women have to worry about getting scammed by these places all the time. I am livid and disgusted. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Also, I have not been able to get my hood open since. So now I have to get that fixed. I wouldn't put it past them that they did something to intentionally cause my hood to be stuck. The employee Darlene and the Mechanics went beyond all services center would ever do. We brought are car into the garage for service due to issue. Employees at Midas looked over our vechile and then researched for cost saving options due to the engine needs to be replaced. They even spoke with the dealership on the issues of the vechile. Brought my car in for a check engine light that was coding for 4 misfires. After changing my spark plugs and ignition coils for $1100 and telling me they tested my car, the problem still persisted and a new issue popped up. I cant afford to be out a car and pay the ridiculous prices they charge for them to keep troubleshooting it. Took it to a local shop and they figured out the original issues cause within a couple hours and had the issue Midas cause figured out as well. Midas installed bad spark plugs and ignition coils in my car for 300 more than the local shop. The local shop also provided better rated equipment at the lower price. After I contacted Midas to find any kind of compensation for the parts. The best they said they could do was give me $300 store credit which I told them was pointless because i never plan on going back for their bare minimum troubleshooting skills and above premium prices. Staff was nice besides all that but quality of work, pricing and their willingness to compensate me after charging me 1100 dollars to mess my car up more and I had to spend an additional 800 to have it fixed. read more

Midas might promise a golden touch, but it seems they're more focused on lining their pockets with gold than looking out for you! I recently took my vehicle to Midas for an inspection and was highly disappointed with their approach. After inspecting, they handed me a long list of repairs that they claimed "needed" to be done before my car could pass inspection ($5,000 of work). Many of these items felt exaggerated or unnecessary, and the prices they quoted for parts and labor were very high compared to market rates. After I showed some skepticism, they shamelessly tried to promote their 12-month zero-percent financing option as if it were a great deal. Obviously, it felt like a strategy to lure me into spending more money than I should. BE AWARE! The good news is that I took my vehicle to a different auto repair shop for a second opinion, and they confirmed that NONE of the work Midas claimed was necessary actually needed to be done at this time! I would strongly advise anyone considering this place to get a second opinion before agreeing to ANY work. Their tactics come across as more about upselling than genuinely helping customers. Be aware and do your research before trusting Midas with your vehicle! After further consideration, avoid "the Midas touch" like the Black Death of 1348. If you have enemies, do them a favor and recommend this repair shop--their wallets will be bleeding faster than they can say 'inspection.' read more

I do not recommend going here for repairs, inspection, or tires. I had my car inspected here and it failed because I was told I had to replace two tires and some other work done. I mistakenly let them replace my tires. They put two cheap used tires on my car that wore out very quickly. I almost spun out on highway on a snowy day. I don't trust these mechanics. They clearly have no integrity and told me I needed other repair work done that I didn't actually need. Shameful practices. read more

Came in for a synthetic oil change at Midas Warwick and after seeing the price was going to get a standard oil change, but JC explained to me how that is not the best thing for a car and I'm glad I listened. Was also brought to my attention that my wipers are as bad as I thought they were, (thanks winter ice!). Also, the interior has changed and I think it looks much nicer than before. More open space, more area for people to sit/stand, and maybe I'm crazy, but I never remember a vending machine before, only the Keurig. I hesitant to leave a one-star review, but I feel like I was not only sold an inferior product (without being told) and I was simply brushed-off when I revisit the location. I had my brake pads and rotors replaced because it was supposedly not passing inspection. What do you know, less than a week later, the rotor cap was completely rusted. I don't care how much salt it is on the road, it does not get rusted in less than a week. I brought it back, and the technician said that's just how its, if the part gets wet, it gets rusted. The only fix is to order a painted part next time, which costs more. Why wasn't I told that then? I will never go back to Midas....unless it's just for a simple oil change...even that makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm now going to pay an actual REPUTABLE shop to redo the work and pay for it again. I'd rather shell out more $ knowing the job will be done right than give Midas another chance. read more

WARNING to NEW and CURRENT CUSTOMERS! I had been going to this Midas for 3 years, working with Carlos and Al. They were awesome. They just hired a new manager, JC. Last month, I paid him to replace a damaged oxygen sensor. This month, I got under my car and saw that the damaged sensor was still there (see picture)! When I told him I found it, he asked if I am certified mechanic! He and the shop owner scrambled and gave the most ludicrous excuses as to why "they were not able to complete the repair properly" and "maybe another Midas can assist you." came in for a brake job. supposedly needed front calipers. charged $189 each plus labor. checked at multiple auto parts stores and each sell the same calipers for $120 for the pair. total rip off. Told it would take 3 hrs for the brake job and charged me $240 for labor. I timed the work. The technician worked less than 1hr. No labor adjustment was made. It took longer to get the parts delivered than it took to do the repair. The technician took the car for a test drive spinning the tires As he took off. He repeated this action upon completion of the repair. My personal effects in the car were thrown all over the car when he returned. they're actions were unethical, abusive, and grossly overpriced. THIS PLACE IS SKETCHY - had my front brakes done here. i had a squeaking noise in the front, but the mechanic argued with me, saying the noise was in the back and i needed my back brakes done. i had a weird feeling and waited a day to get my car checked at munros in providence. the mechanic there showed me the part in the front that was making a noise and showed me how much meat i still had on my brake pads in the back. went from an estimate of $500 to $50. read more

I had set up an appointment online with this location and received a response that I would get a notice within 30 minutes and DID NOT. Furthermore, I called the next day to confirm, and he stated he does not look at the requests with the worst attitude a sales/customer service representative could possibly uphold. I came into the shop the next day, I and three others, waited at the front desk for assistance for 6+ minutes as we watched the man behind the counter, on his phone, with his legs up on the desk. I presented the next day with a re-inspection, had completed what was asked of me, and yet again he belittled me with his pretentious attitude. He continued to ask me why i went elsewhere for parts with the biggest smug on his face. It was because of YOU sir. Needless to say, I left the shop that day, aggrevated because of this verbal harassment. I have sent in my complaints to corporate in hopes this man is replaced. Very disappointed. I went in believing I needed brake pads on the front, so they ordered the pads and a replacement sensor (so the light would turn off inside my car). When I got in for the work to be done (quoted $199 plus $35 for the sensor), they informed me that I did not need the brake pads but that my rotors needed resurfacing. So, they gave me an estimate of $37.50 per rotor... and added the $199 for the brake pads. I declined the brake pads because they said I didn't need them. Well, the guy comes over and tells me he misquoted as that is the price (for rotor turning) if I was having the brake pads put on. Now, he just got finished telling me I didn't need brake pads, right? I'm thinking "front only" because they didn't have any real reason to be checking out the rear brakes. I was there for front brake service. He tells me the price without brake pad installation is $70-some-odd per rotor... PLUS the sensor. I walked out of there spending over $300 and my front brakes SCREAM like they are totally shot. So, I guess I need front brake pads anyway. I just feel I got totally jacked by these guys and would NEVER recommend them to anyone. This is completely opposite of the experience I had with Midas in California. Seemed they were all looking for a little Christmas bonus at this location at my expense. As a result of this costly adventure in poor workmanship, I was not able to afford to have the blower motor fixed on my car which means I don't have defrost. Hmmmm. Winter... Rhode Island. I came here to get my car inspected, I booked an appointment beforehand also. As I came in there was no on at the desk; it seems like they are understaffed and one of the bay workers also works the desk. I take care of my car very well, most of the work has been done by me and my friend, one who use to work at Inskip Automall. After the inspection, they said I needed to replace my rear shocks and possibly my front sway bar end links despite not showing any other problems than wear. The rear shocks were still functional despite a slight leak, so maybe that set it off. I agreed, the work they quoted was a bit expensive, over 300 for rear shocks with labor, but no mention of other parts such as new bolts, shock mounts, and other misc parts needed for a good re-install. I bought all new parts for around 215 dollars including new bolts, shock mounts, shocks and misc parts. After I installed the parts with my friend, I reschedule my appointment 7:30AM, first appointment of the day. I arrived a bit early, thinking that it would be a quick check and inspection. I sat there for 35 minutes without my car being touched to which I thought to myself, "Why did they let me a book a 7:30AM appointment if they weren't going to touch my car until 8:00AM?" Then after they took my car, he didn't even put it on the lift, he didn't check the shocks to which was the only reason I didn't pass inspection. This seemed very awkward and incongruent to me; I mean if I didn't pass inspection because of rear shocks, wouldn't that have been one of the things to check to pass inspection again? I will not come back here because of the way they do work and a very suspicious way of doing business here. I would advise you to stay away also. read more

Excellent service. I want to start off by saying that my wife and I used to go to Midas in Wakefield, which is walking distance from our house. When I found out that Rich (our mechanic) moved to this Midas in Warwick, my wife and I decided we will make the trip to Warwick, because trusting our mechanic is way more important than a convenient location (yea, we said it...we'll drive north of the tower for good service). Our only regret is that we will miss Darlene (awesome front desk lady) from Midas in Wakefield, although we heard she isn't working there anymore which really seals the deal for us. Rich is an excellent mechanic and really makes us and our cars feel taken care of. He is timely, honest, transparent, a talented mechanic and really just "gives a shit" to be blunt. Our cars have never been in better shape and we always leave feeling really good about the work (and the price for that matter). That's hard to find. Whatever reputation this Warwick Midas had before is irrelevant to me now that I know about these staffing changes. This is our new garage. read more

Got a classic shiny BMW from FL a few months ago. My son had recommended them. From the first day, I brought it here for everything that didn't have to be done by a BMW dealer. It was all good, I liked them and their work and their prices.........until when they worked on the coolant reservoir and left a tool on the (convenient flat surface) air filter cover and forgot to remove it before shutting the hood. 2 points pierced through the metal of the hood, and punctured the paint (See pics). I noticed it a couple of days after picking up the car, and went back. Carlos the manager tried EVE-RY-THING to deny it, but he realized he was going nowhere and I wasn't buying his excuses and stories (I understand; he has a job to do to protect the franchisee AND his position) So he said "I'll bring it to the owner's attention, and I know he'll ask me to watch the video, since we have cameras facing every bay/jack". That actually comforted me, and I said " great, I guarantee you that you'll see what happened, and if you tell me you DIDN'T find anything, I'd like to have access to the video and watch it myself". And he AGREED to that. This is 4-5 weeks later and I haven't heard anything from anybody. I can't prove it, but I hope they WILL own their screw-up. I will however start taking pix of the entire car before leaving for any work, no matter where I go next from now on. Look, we all make mistakes. Accidents do happen. You can hide and deny, but It gives you credibility when you own it and do something about it. This review will sit here forever unless they do something about it.... Oh, by the way, if YOU, the Midas people are reading this, please don't leave one of your "cookie cutter" responses, as you do for every other review. Brought my car in for an oil change and cabin air filter replacement. Also asked what cost of two new tires would be but stated would not be doing the tires that day. Left the car at the shop. Received a call an hour later and was told that there is a "massive oil leak", car needs rear brakes and all 4 tires need replacement. $1705, not including the oil change or air filter. This after having a clean bill of health from the same station 3 months earlier (yes I still have that report). Did not appreciate the hard sell tactics when the truth is it has a minor, almost imperceptible oil drip, will need 2 new tires soon, certainly not all four, and the rep admitted the rear brakes are good for another 3000-4000 miles before needing replacement. Paid for oil change and cabin air filter but later noticed a $59 diagnostic charge had also been assessed. Called back asking what it was for. Was told I asked for brakes to be checked, which I most certainly had not. I am being generous with a two star rating, only because I had not had such a bad experience previously, and attribute it to the particular person who I dealt with who I've never seen before. read more

However I recently moved to Warwick and decided to give this Midas a try. Absolutely the opposite experience from Wakefield. The man at the counter was rude both times I met him as well as when I called to schedule an appointment. Really disappointing. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. I have been a loyal customer of this Midas for the past 17 years. For almost two decades, I have performed every oil change, every tire replacement and every repair that does not require dealer service at this location. The customer care and trustworthiness provided by Al, and later Carlos, had always been outstanding and refreshing. I always knew I was being looked after and given the best advice and service. I have referred the place to many of my friends, who shared the same experience. Unfortunately, all changed with the introduction of the new manager. Their new approach is to drive volume through coupons and referrals in a very transactional manner, completely lacking any focus on customer service. I don't expect special privileges for being a long time customer, but would appreciate some basic courtesy. Every single interaction I've had with the new manager has been beyond disappointing. He's incapable of caring for his customers beyond the transactional level and shouldn't be in charge of any business that is trying to build a loyal customer base. Had a coupon for a 20$ oil and oil filter change which included a multi point inspection and a tire rotation. Dropped the car off and picked it up about 2 hours later, drive back home and I looked under the hood just to make sure everything was in good order. The oil cap was barely on tight and they left the old oil filter on which I had personally put on myself the last service. I'm a factory certified Ford service technician and can obviously tell an old filter from new; scratches, excessive oil/grease, and smudged ink from wiping it with brake clean is NOT HOW A NEW OIL FILTER SHOULD LOOK. I went right back and argued this to them and Carlos began getting irate claiming "he had nothing to gain from this," and that I can say what I want but he's not doing anything for me. I would give them zero stars if it were possible. My boyfriend went in to get two tires mounted and balanced on wheels that weren't on his car. We left the wheels and tires in a bay and the man we helped us told him it would be about an hour to an hour and a half. We took a picture of each wheel sitting in the bay and we left. We came back an hour and a half later to get the wheels. Half an hour after that they were finally ready but they informed us that that couldn't balance one of the wheels because the center was cracked. We argued with the guy for a good 20 minutes, he claimed that it was broken when we got there and that the pictures we had of the wheels weren't good enough proof to dispute what he was telling us. He said when the technician put it on the machine and tightened it down to balance it, "it separated" where it was already broken. He refused to admit that they broke the wheel and subtracted the price of the balancing. The owner, who was at the store at the time, made no effort to participate in the conversation or help us in anyway. I highly advise against ever bringing your car to this business, even just for an oil change. Who knows what they do to parts of your car you can't see, if they can crack a wheel and deny any fault. read more

My experience at the Midas in Warwick was the worst kind of auto repair experience: the staff tried to make my problem larger than it was, provided a grossly expensive repair estimate, and I was intimidated and threatened. The short summary to my long rant: Midas gave me an estimate for double the fair price, when I declined their services they would not let me take my car. It was both infuriating and hilarious how devious and transparent their fraud was. I visited Midas to see what was causing a minor coolant leak. And by "minor", I mean a few drips of coolant after a night in the garage, not a puddle. They found a leak in the radiator and it needed to be replaced. The total cost to replace my radiator: $864. Seemed like a lot. He also added that "it's un-driveable" and that "the engine would blow up" if I tried to drive it home, despite that I had driven it for several days in the same condition. I was extremely skeptical at this point, both in terms of cost and the integrity of the repair person. So, I called a few other places to see what they would charge for the same work. Five repair shops in the area (including two other Midas shops), all quoted between $400 and $500 for the exact same thing, including all parts/labor/taxes. Feeling that I was being taken advantage of, I asked the repair person about this discrepancy in costs. He went to get the manager. This is where things got interesting. The manager first asked me where I had called for comparison quotes, and I told him. He claimed that the high quote I had received from his Midas location had to do with the "higher cost of living" in the Warwick area (HA!), and then tried to claim that the parts the other shops would use would come from a junk yard. This explanation was suspect, especially since other Midas franchise shops probably source from the same distributor. At this point, I just wanted to get my car and go home, and so I said I needed to leave. Then the manager tried bargaining on price, but I was done dealing with him. I had no trust in him or the shop, and repeated my request to get my car and go. Then the manager said, "Sorry, you can't. I can't let you leave with this car. It's leaking coolant everywhere. It's an environmental danger, and it's against Midas policy to let you leave. The only way your car can leave is if it's taken away by a tow truck." He also added, "It's because of that cap-and-trade thing." WTF? I would have laughed out loud at this last comment if I wasn't completely furious and confused. Again, WHAT? I can completely understand that it's bad to dump antifreeze into the street, but my leak was VERY minor. Yes, I'm sure Midas (or the state of RI) does have a policy to keep vehicles off the roads that are dumping toxins onto the streets, but I also felt I was being coerced into getting repair work done, or at the least, they were being vindictive because I figured out they were overcharging me. We continued to argue and he finally restated the claim that "your engine will blow up if you drive it". I had enough of his scare tactics, and called his bluff, saying "Fine, I'll call a tow truck, whatever I have to do to get my car out of here." But, unfortunately for the manager it was 4:50pm, 10 minutes to closing time. He could see that I wasn't leaving without my car. It would take the AAA towing service at least an hour to show up. Realizing that he would have to wait with me until the tow truck arrived, the manager went to get my car and said I could leave on my own. He gave me my keys and said "We'll take the record of your visit out of our system, because we're not supposed to let you leave", or, in other words, "you called my bluff, but I have to continue to pretend that this was about a policy and your well-being, instead of a high-pressure tactic to make you get your repair work done here." Since this incident, I had my radiator replaced by a local auto repair shop at less than half the price. I don't see why I should ever visit a Midas ever again. I sent a letter detailing this experience to the Midas website - thinking maybe they'd take it as a sign to make some improvements. And the owner of the shop responded and we talked on the phone for a bit. He apologized profusely, and promised to mail me some coupons/vouchers. BUT THEY NEVER ARRIVED. I might have held my tongue if he came through on this small, simple act of contrition. But no, they can't even make good on an apology. read more

Horrible. I called up explaining what I needed and we agreed on an approximate price over the phone. I said to contact me if it ended up being more expensive. I get there and am forced to pay $200 more than the price we agreed on (the price went from about $350 to $550) just to be able to take my car home. I called about the issue the next day and got an apology...and that's it. There is nothing they will do even though the manager openly admitted he and his staff were at fault. Reading the other reviews...I didn't even get a chance to decline their services and their absurdly inflated price! My apartment is right up the road and I would love to go there if the customer service wasn't so terrible. read more
