I went there to find out what was wrong with my car and get it fixed. Also for regular fluid maintenance. They performed both these jobs well as I got the service I needed with no repeat problems or something else broke afterward. The price seemed steep but after an online search and a call to the dealership, the prices quoted were comparable. One gripe is that they do seem slow as other reviews have stated. I have experienced this first hand. I don't mind this so much, I'm willing to wait. I know its gonna take a while, so I leave and wait for a call. Waiting for a call...unfortunately that seems to be another area where they miss the mark. I've had a couple times where they said they would call back with a quote and they do. The first visit they said they would call me a day later to see how my car was doing. I thought that was a nice customer service touch, but they never called lol, albeit my car ran great afterward. And when my car is done, they don't always call. Last time, I remedied this by calling them a couple times during the day to check up. They should have a better communication system setup to provide excellent customer service because this blemishes the fact that they really do provide excellent mechanic work. Bottom line: They are a bit slow and don't communicate the best, but if you need solid maintenance and repair work, I can say these guys have not failed me and I am confident in their skill level. I really don't care how slow, as long as they finish it that day within reason of the extent of the repair need. As long as they fix my car, I don't mind calling them for an update. I don't go to a greasy mechanic shop for smiles and handshakes. I go to get my car fixed. They deliver. read more

I brought in my TC because my car was making a squeak sound when I hit the breaks, they took it for a test drive and agreed the sound was loud, but it wasn't the brakes because everything was new, they offered to lubricant but it may or may not help the noise, I refused for that service, I've been sitting at Midas for two hours while the car sits there just waiting! If you have hours and hours and want to enjoy a fresh place to sit around this place is for you! Seth was helpful I can't say for Michael who told me it would be 20 minutes an hour ago! Michael was also rude to staff in front of customers really made the waiting experience that more distasteful. read more

Visiting Sequoia National Park, my A/C belt tensioner broke again and I had no A/C on a very hot days. I researched for a repair shop on the Better Business Bureau. They had a rare high score of A+ and made a appointment in the morning. The manager spent 10 minutes showing me exactly what was wrong, it wasn't the tensioner but the compressor and let me spin the A/C compressor by hand to prove it. He could have push for an expensive all day repair but since he knew I was out of town, he didn't take advantage of this and said he could do a temporary fix so I can get home with A/C and have this done with my usual mechanic. He showed me what to look for to make sure the work is done correctly. I got out by mid morning to rejoin my family. My mechanic said this was the correct diagnosis and was somewhat embarrassed he didn't catch this before. Kudos for honest and competent mechanics. read more

I have taken my vehicles here since I was 16. Long story short they fixed what another place broke. They even wrote a report to show what the other place did wrong which got the damage covered. In the 20 plus years since then I have trusted Mike and his crew to do right by me. I've been in there and witnessed him and his staff give people options depending on their budget. They care about the customer and want your vehicle to be safe. I really appreciate their customer service and attention to detail. I can't say enough. In my opinion it's the best shop in town. The reason for two stars is because the repair was fine but the service was very poor. Like one of the other reviewers, I got 4 new tires at Americas tires and they recommended these guys. And like that review, my simple alignment and oil change wasn't finished until after 2pm (more than 6 hours) And I had to call them. They didn't give me a courtesy call. And then, to top it off, after I called and let them know I was coming to get it, when I got there the transaction still took close to a 1/2hr. I feel like the manager, Seth, should have been ready w my paperwork printed and ready for me to pay. Yet, that wasn't even the worst part. They were fixing my work van and when I went to leave I found it unlocked with the windows down. I have thousands of dollars of equipment inside and no protection. Needless to say, regardless of price and quality repair I don't believe I will use these guys again. (This was my second visit.) read more

Only bad thing about this place is that sometimes they are a little slow. But I would choose them over auto oil changers and pepboys for oil changes and repairs. Brakes and resurfacing rotors for all four wheels. Dropped my car off 11am on a Saturday, they called and updated me after 2 hrs with an accurate estimate and were done by 4pm. I spoke with the owner, Michael who demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and came across as a person with integrity. As I am out of town during the weekdays, I think Midas is my first choice Saturday auto work. I've been here a couple times to get my car serviced. I recently went in and they tried to charge me to look at a flat tire, when on their website says the don't charge to look at it just to repair. So I declined to pay, then they said the flat tire was non repairable and needed to buy a new single tire for $180. Luckily I declined and took my business elsewhere because a real tire shop said there is nothing wrong with the tire, and was needed was to be rebalanced (free of charge). Slow at what they do, makes no sense. I had an appointment and still spent almost 5 hours waiting on my car only to have to come back the next day for them fix my initial problem. The owner kept recommending that I get all these "problems" fixed and it really just felt like he wanted to squeeze more money out of me. I had the best experience with them and I recommend them to everyone. I took my car to Nissan paid over $100 to just have them look at my car and then they tell me I have something wrong that was going to cost me over $1200. I decided to take my car here and get a 2nd quote. So thankful I did, not only did I pay less then $1000 they also found out that Nissan was completely wrong in what was messed up with my car. This place was awful. I took my car for an oil change and was told it'd be a three hour wait and that I should make an appointment. I made an appointment for later on in the afternoon and it still took 2 hours!! Even though I had an appointment. I had an oil change here along with some other things they said I *NEEDED*. Spent a little over $500. When I picked up my vehicle and got it home I thought I would check their work. It appeared everything had been done, however when I checked the oil it had never been changed and still had the greasy old oil filter and dirty oil in the engine. I went back the following day and they acknowledged it hadn't been changed however they really didn't care. Their mentality was basically "it happens". I have found a forever shop for my car's needs. The owner, Michael, and his employee Seth, gave me the absolute best care. I needed a tune-up and called Pep Boys - they quoted me $280 without a second's hesitation or knowing a thing about my car other than year, make & model. I then called Midas and they talked to me about my car and we decided together to go with a maintenance package, and they charged me only $34 for an oil change/tire rotation and to look my car over top to bottom to see if I actually needed anything done. They didn't do arbitrary work just to charge me for it. The time it took for the quality of work they did was more than appropriate. I don't even want to give this place a single star. How rude! So I called Friday to make an appointment to have my car serviced. I initially asked a couple of questions and received rude, short answers back...like I was wasting this guys time or something. Once I realized he was trying to get off the phone with me, I quickly added that I needed to make an appointment. I felt like I was begging him to stay on the phone with me. LOL. Anyways, the rude man barked that he had a customer at the counter and he'd call me back to set up my appointment. I gave him my number & waited. In fact, I'm still waiting...and it's Monday. Well, needless to say I'm not going to wait any longer. I'm off to Auto Oil Changers. Midas, you need to polish up your customer service skills! SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! Please do not help this business survive. I wanted to get a simple alignment done because I had just installed new rear camber control arms. I asked the new America's Tire on Mooney and they recommended me to Midas. I trust the America's tire company so, I went. The manager at Midas told me it would take a couple hours so I said okay and proceeded to wait in the waiting room. My observation of the employees incl. the manager seems very unprofessional and lackadaisical about their work. I ended up waiting for FOUR HOURS just for an alignment. AFTER finally getting my car, I drove home-30min away. I noticed my car was pulling to the right as I drove. (Four hours of waiting to find out my alignment is worse!) I called them in the morning and they asked me to come in so they could take a look at it and they'd readjust it for free. 30min drive. I talked with the manager for 2 minutes about the alignment and told me I'd have to come back tomorrow to get it done!? I left. And came back only because they're readjusting for free. This time I dropped off the car at 10am and left with a friend who drove another car. I was told it would be done by noon. Well, it's 4 o'clock now. REALLY?? 6 HOURS LATER!? AND you're still not done. WTF. Once I get my car, with correct alignment or not, I am NEVER coming back. And I suggest you don't either. read more

I'm not sure what these two reviewers above are talking about. I have taken both my cars to this facility now and have had nothing but exceptional service both times. Today, for example, I took in my car for a break job. While sitting in the waiting room, maybe 15 minutes, I was told that all the mechanics were finishing up jobs and that it would be a little bit longer. I was asked if I would like a ride home rather than have to wait at the shop. The staff was amazingly king and dropped me off while I awaited a call with the estimate. When I received the call from the manager, Mike, he was extremely detailed with his information, giving me exact specs and prices on all work offered. I told him that I was just getting the car ready to sell and really couldn't afford to do a lot of work to it. He gave me a variety of options on which jobs were needed now and which could wait a few months. NEVER did I feel pressured to buy something that I didn't need. In fact, the manager threw in some services for free! I was blown away by the service. On top of everything, when my car was done, they called me to ask if I needed a ride back to the shop to pick my car up. A mechanic, Darren, came and picked me up, saving me from having to walk back to the shop. In this day and economy, it is nearly impossible to find a mechanic that isn't trying to gouge you for every dime (I called pepboys before Midas to see how much it would cost to break loose a rusted bolt on my car...$100! Mike at Midas quoted me $25...). The customer service involved to pick me up and drop me off alone is worth going to Midas in Visalia. The entire crew was professional and accommodating beyond expression and are led my a manager that truly cares about his customers. read more

Our family had a horrible experience here. The shop cheated us; they refused to show us the old parts they had supposedly taken out. They said there was a problem with the alternator when the car already had a new alternator (6 months old). They said the same about the belt, which was also new. A mechanic we know can confirm those parts were new. Midas charged for parts that they never placed in the car. The bill was over $800 and the car came out even worse than before we brought it in. Avoid these con artists at all costs. We agree with other Yelpers here who say that this shady enterprise needs to go out of business FAST. read more

We were returning from a drive through the big trees down the nasty, windy road into Visaila when several indicator lights started flashing. Hot transmission, engine fault, brake fault, cruise fault, transmission indicator blank. We thought our beloved Subaru was near death. It was a white knuckle slow drive into Visaila where we found the Midas shop still open Saturday evening around 5:30 PM. That mechanic was very experienced, pleasant and helped us immeaditly. He checked each one of the faults with his computer and found no problems. He cleared the fault indicators and sent us on our way. That was over 1000 miles ago. Our beloved Subaru is still happy and healthy thanks to the wise service we received at Midas. read more

Take pictures of your entire vehicle before leaving it with them!! I turned in my car for repair and when I picked it up the "Car Bra" was damaged! The entrance to Midas in Visalia, Ca has a deep "dip" and my car (SC400 Lexus) is fairly low to the ground. I know it got damaged from that dip when it was taken out for a test drive. I asked some of the staff who worked on my car and they said only the master mechanic and the owner had worked on my car. I asked both the master mechanic and the owner but neither would admit to the damages. The owner refused to take any responsibility to this damage. I even showed him that the clip that held the bottom portion of the "bra" was on the ground of his parking lot. It had to have fallen off the bra after the scrape to the bottom was so severe that it could even hold the metal clip anymore. A replacement bra will cost me $139.00, The MIDAS Headquarters needs to revoke Midas - Visalia's francishe license because the owner won't take responsibility to damages done to a customer's vehicle while under his care....giving MIDAS a bad name. read more

If I could give this guy NO stars it would be more appropriate. They broke a spark plug in one of my cylinders and left it there saying nothing about it. It wasn't even the right type of plug. It was too big. It cost me plenty to get that repaired because the plug fragment was glued solid inside the cylinder damaging it. Also when I got my car back the rear hatch wouldn't open without the key and came unlatched at times while I was driving. Never had THAT problem before I walked in there. I should have trusted my first instinct about this guy and walked out immediately. I have heard many other very angry reports about this particular Midas on Mineral King. Save yourself a lot of pain and money and STEER CLEAR of this guy! read more

I have been there a couple times now and all I can say is the owner Mike is a fantastic guy. They were all so nice and took care of my car and myself. Mike chatted with me and my daughter while we waited which helped to keep my daughter occupied and not throwing a fit to go home (she has autism and cannot handle waiting very long). For now on, I will be getting any work done at Midas in Visalia, CA just because of how nice I was treated. They worked quickly to make sure it was done same day so I wouldn't be left without a car to take my daughter to school. I cannot stress enough how important it is to me to have it done quickly. Thanks guys! I hope you guys get perks for good reviews because you deserve it! I will recommend you to anyone needing your services.
