I have found my new mechanic! These guys are lifesavers. I am not a "Car guy", and you hear all the stories of places wanting to overcharge or recommend services that aren't needed. I've always had trouble finding a good, reliable mechanic. But my search is over. These guys came through in the clutch. They were fast, friendly, and after calling two or three other recommended mechanics, they were the only ones who were able to help me immediately when I needed it. They identified several issues with my car, but they also told me which ones I actually needed to get done, and which ones I could wait on if I wanted to. Didn't try to hard sell or pressure me into anything. Mike Rodriguez, Destiny, and RJ were all very friendly, down to earth people. I will definitely be going here for any future auto mechanical needs. I told them what my issue was (Car kept dying on me), and they ran a diagnostic, identified the problem, and sent me an extremely detailed diagnostic with photos and all kinds of information. I had to report them to the BBB today as I went in for an oil change and upon explaining what my car is doing and how I fixed it, he continued to treat me like a stupid female. after demanding what was wrong with me and (I believe) accusing me of beinginebriated, I informed him for a second time I am autistic and add. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They quickly fixed the issues with my vehicle and pointed out things that I needed to repair.

I came in thinking I needed just my brakes replaced. Upon inspection, the staff informed me there were several things that needed attention including a wheel bearing that needed replaced. I explained to the staff that I could not afford all of the things they were recommending at the time as I am pregnant and off work currently so money is tight. They encouraged me to change the brakes and wheel bearing due to the safety issues with the wheel bearing. I refused and asked them to just do the brakes as that was under warranty and only required me to pay for the labor. Well long story short, the manager came back to me and asked if they could change the wheel bearing at no charge to me because he was concerned about the safety of the vehicle and stated he felt it was unethical to change the brakes without addressing this other safety concern. I've never been to an auto place where I felt like they were genuinely concerned with my wellbeing, safety, and personal financial situation. I really cannot say enough positive things about this place. And when I have the money to do so, I will definitely be back to fix all the other things that needed attention. read more

They are grossly overcharge their customers. They charged me $13 per light bulb when it's costs $5 per pair at Napa auto parts and I saw the Napa delivery truck when I pulled in to get my service. I came in for a oil change and knew there has been something wrong with my car but a lot of places charge a lot and have you add on these services and just being super pushy, being a female not knowing if I'm being hustled for money because I don't know much about cars. The woman in the front Taylor welcomed me in for my appt for the oil change ,she was so nice and knowledgeable and just felt immediately more at ease. I asked about a diagnostic check,had it done Taylor and RJ told me I had a crack in my Alternator serpentine belt they both explained things to me and it's crucial to my vehicle if it were to break they weren't pushy and just let me know it's urgent but it was up to me and I just felt comfortable I could tell they were being genuine. A weight has been lifted off my shoulder not having to worry about my car breaking down randomly. I'm extremely happy with my experience here today!!! Took my car in for a 60k service, Paid about 1500$ for repairs... as soon as i pulled out of the parking lot the entire panel holding the interior lights for the inside of car fell out. It felt pretty dishonest that they wouldn't disclose the fact they damaged it before i left. I just want to say thanks to Manuel, Mike and the rest of the team at this location. They came to me from a referral and I needed major help with a massive oil leak I had on my 1999 Jetta. They took it in on a Saturday, got to it in a timely manner and gave me a breakdown of the possibilities and estimate. We waited for the hard-to-find German parts to come in and they got to the car right away. I got a call with the news that they discovered it might only be an o-ring that would need to be replaced and not the whole oil filter bracket. They replaced the o-ring, reinstalled the existing bracket and...it worked! They returned the ordered part, saving me almost $300 and charged me only the cost of the o-ring labor and oil. I am so surprised and appreciative at their honesty and integrity, which is hard to find in this industry. The guys here have also gone way above-and-beyond to help with other instances I have had with this car. I can't thank you enough. First, of I had a coupon that wasn't honored because my truck needed a different type of oil than the one covered by coupon. Second, they didn't turn off the oil change light. I had to go back the next day. Third, they charged me for a diagnostic for the check engine light. They didn't turn the light off on that either. Fourth, they serviced my AC. Worked fined until a couple days later. I had to take it back and they serviced it again. But they never got it working like it should. But every single time it was a new charge for something else they missed the visit before. read more

I'm very late in posting this review but I have to do it. My son took his challenger in to get the exhaust taken off so it could be louder. The mechanic took it off and didn't give it back to him. When my son went back the next day to retrieve his very expensive exhaust, they said that they scrapped it and that it was gone. I think we all know that is BS. Some of the things I really like about this particular Midas location is the way I am greeted by staff when I arrive, the phone call I receive once my vehicle has been diagnosed (the explanations are always very thorough), and above all they are a trustworthy business. They never try and sell you something you do not need. I know this because they are my shop of choice and I have been going there fo 10 years now. Have been here 3 or 4 times, and always glad I chose this shop. Specifically: 1) bought 4 new tires, told them I wanted something mid-priced. They did not try to up-sell me. 2) came in for an oil change. Asked if they could replace a headlight for me. (I had the bulb, but had lost a $1 clip for it, which I could not purchase separately from an auto parts store; had to purchase the whole headlight assembly.) The Midas mechanic explained to me that that clip served to ground the circuit (meaning, I couldn't use a bobby-pin), he disappeared into his shop, and reappeared with that proper clip in his hand, beaming. They fixed my headlight for $10; I would have payed $100 for that service. I notice this shop has lots of 5-star ratings and many 1-star ratings, without much in-between. I have no idea what that means. I can recommend Midas Visalia to you as highly professional, efficient, and trustworthy. read more

I took my car to the Kia dealership and they were going to charge me $100 just to look at the air conditioner because I didn't have a factory installed condenser. Had an appointment at 10:00 on 3/2/19. To have my breaks checked. Had them put new ones on 11/ 18/18. And went on a trip. Coming down a hill my breaks started making grinding noise. Anyway they said it would be about 21/2 hours even with an appointment. They tried to tell me the noise was just cosmetic and the brakes were fine . I informed them I pull a 8500 rv most of our trips. Then he seemed concerned and suggested heavy duty brakes that they put on emergency vehicles. I paid extra for them. If you have nothing but time to waste go to this Midas. The manager/owner Michael is a bit rude and condescending. He may be an "expert" but there are better ways to show it than to be blatantly condescending. He even tried to convince me quality takes time.. I'm sure the plastic seat protector and paper floor mat they put in my car as I waited OVER 2hours for a brake inspection I never received is real quality. Granted I must say I've had work done here in the past and it wasn't bad and I even had some deals thrown in, but they were still slower than watching a dead body rot in a grave. I wish I remembered the employee's name at the time but he seemed to care about the customers... He was probably fired for such a nicety. Anyhow, after today I doubt I'll be back unless I feel like wasting time or it goes under new ownership. I called up a competitor of theirs around the block, told them what was going on and they had my car up for inspection in less than 2 minutes. Then the inspection done in about 5-10 with a quote, and work done in an hour. AND they had 5-8 other people getting work done. Midas had 3 and all they did was put a paper floor mat and plastic sheet protector in my car. Not an express shop, but the Knowledgeable mechanics here are very thorough and will take good care of your car. I took my 1993 Pathfinder in because the engine was shuddering after it warmed up. I tried replacing several parts on my own to no avail. Mike and his team found it was a hull fracture in my distributor (something I never thought of). It runs great now, and he informed me that I have a rear axle leak going into my brake drum. He took it off and took several pictures and explained the issue. There are several auto service/repair businesses in this part of Visalia. Choose a different one! This particular Midas location does not seem to have enough employees to take car of the customers they accept. Consequently, you can bring your car here for a 10am appointment, for example, and no one will even open the car door until 1pm. Then an oil change will take until 3pm. (That's exactly what happened to me.) When I asked why it took 5 hours to change my car's oil, this is what the manager told me: -- Too many of their workers simply never show up without even calling in sick. This is a problem basically every weekend. -- It's obvious that I haven't been praying to Jesus enough; otherwise, I'd have someone helping me get what I want out of life. (The religious comments bordered on harassment. I felt very uncomfortable.) Terrible customer service. An oil change should not take 5 hours!!! read more
