The on line booking is unreliable! When booking you need to book a time and when I called on Monday to confirm the time I was placed on hold 3 times and then disconnected. When I finally got through I was told they were too busy! I took time of work to bring my car in and was then refused. So I would say unreliable!!! read more

I needed an oil change and it was time to have the tires rotated, but I was very reluctant to have that done, because I know that auto service employees are in general, incapable of that very simple task. I drove over and arrived just before the store opened and explained to the proprietor what I wanted done. I went to great lengths to point out that a lug nut key was required to loosen one lug nut, on each of the tires, and that I'd had problems in the past when purchasing tires with employees removing the key from the tire iron, so that they could use it with a hydraulic impact wrench, to save a few seconds. That lug nut key had a stainless steel clip around it, and was attached to the tire iron by a stainless steel wire, which allowed one to insert the lug nut key into the socket on the tire iron, without removing it from the tool. This is a great utility if you have to change a tire due to a flat, or if you rotate your tires yourself, and it's harder to lose the key, because it's attached to a tool that was designed very well, in an age when quality and design still meant something. I asked her not to remove the lug nut key from the tire iron, because I didn't want the tool damaged, and don't want to lose the key. I showed her how it worked and told her that who ever does the job, will want to remove the key, so that he or she can use their hydraulic wrench, rather than just loosening the key lug nut on each tire with that tool, and removing that lug nut by hand. I showed her how it worked and left it on the passenger seat of the car, with the key inserted into the socket of the tire iron, as a reminder. In addition I explained to the proprietor the pattern that I'd used to rotate my tires consistently over 10 years or so. The manager indignantly informed me that, THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS. None the less I insisted on drawing a diagram of the pattern that I'd used to rotate my tires. I drew her a picture. It was a mistake not rotating the tires myself. When I returned to pick up my car I paid, and found the tire iron on the passenger seat of my car where I had left it. Not only had the key been removed, but also the stainless steel wire, with which it was attached to the tire iron. The 'professional' was too lazy to loosen the key lug on each tire with the tool I had provided, and decided instead to destroy the tool that was original to the car. This 'professional' then wound the stainless steel wire back onto the end of the tire iron, so tight that it was impossible to unwind, it let alone fit the key into the socket, as per the design of the tool. The moron destroyed my tool ! I tried to unwind it but did not have tools with me and made my second mistake of the day. I asked the manager to have one of her 'professionals' unwind the stainless steel wire enough, so that I could once again insert it into the socket on the tire iron. This took some time and so I went and waited in the waiting room, until her employee brought tire iron out to to me. He had taken a length of haywire that he tied around the key and used to attach it to the end of tire iron. He then said "is this what you want ? I was gobsmacked ! While pondering the remnants of the original stainless steel attachment that was still tightly wrapped around the tire iron, the employee returned to the shop. Thinking I could still save the day and repair my tool myself when I got home, I left, and passing the bay asked that very same 'professional' who had done the haywire job, if I could please have the stainless steel clip returned to me, because there were only the remnants of the stainless steel wire wrapped around my tire iron - the clip was missing. The moron had destroyed the clip by cutting it off the key ! When I rotate the tires, I do one tire at a time and clean the tire plate, lubricate the bolts and hand tighten the nuts so that it is possible to remove them if need be. I then drive around the block and tighten any nut that may be loose. When a professional moron rotates the tires, they raise up the car and take off all the tires at once without marking them. They don't clean the tire plate or lubricate the bolts, before putting the tires back on, and use their hydraulic impact wrench to tighten the bolt so tight, that you need a pipe to use as a lever on your tire iron, to remove one ! I'm very disappointed that my tool was destroyed. It was original to the car, which is a classic car in original condition. For 32 years I had that tool and didn't lose the key that was attached to it, because that's how it had been designed. I reminded the proprietor that she had told me that they were professionals, and explained to her that they were lazy morons and not professionals. I walk or ride my bike past that shop almost every day, and expect that every time I do so in future, I'll think of them as MORONS, NOT PROFESSIONALS ! I still can't believe that two lazy morons destroyed my tool, to save a second or two ! read more

Midas stored my all-season tires over the winter. When I asked them to put the tires back on in the spring, they told me that all 4 needed replacing (which they had apparently not noticed when they removed them in the fall). Two had damaged side walls and the others were too worn. They offered mde a deal on 4 new tires. I declined and took the car and my old tires to my dealer. The dealer said that two tires did have damaged sidewalls but the other two were fine--they still had lots of life. I will not return to Midas. read more

I took my car in to get tire change ( winters off rim to put summers on the same oem rims ) my appointment was at 11am they told me it's goner be a 2 hour wait I said ok Nplm, then they called saying my lug nut was on too tight and a broke off, i was how is it too tight for you to remove when I hand tighten my lugs with sockets and breaker bar, I said you know what I'll come get my car, I went got my car and when I got home and I checked later that evening he had broke my key for the lug nuts with the lock in them , he didn't say anything he just put back in the bag now am like how am I supposed remover my wheels now when you guys broke my key and the lugs weren't to tight because I was able to remove all 4 very easy ( except the one with the lock of course ) I called Honda they told me around 200 to remove lock and for a new set. Called Midas owner I spoke to she said she will fix it bring the car i brought my car, when I went to pick up my car the owner is telling me that she is charging me for the new lugs she put on I was like wtf you guys broke my lock and lugs and I am supposed to pay you for the new lugs I was like you guys should have replace all my lock lugs and key my car was perfectly fine when I drop it off am like very shock I couldn't believe the owner tried to make me pay for something that they have done ( it should have been free to change the tires because they broke my key and lugs and it's around the same price don't go there they are crooks honestly read more

I had to have my car towed for repair, and this location was the best option (location and appointment availability). I had no prior experience with this location, but I had to take a chance due to the circumstances. I am very happy to say that they are an amazing team of mechanics and office staff as they were courteous and honest, and looked after my car quickly but they did not rush. It is really important for me to be able to trust the people working on my car since I go on long trips and need my car in good working condition. As this was a significant repair, it was extra important that the repair was successful and safe. I also needed to know that I could call them afterwards should I have any further concerns. I have since driven my car for just over a month, including a long distance trip, and my car is doing great. I dropped in and did not expect an appointment that day but they had a spot and changed my oil quickly and professionally and politely -- and also were nice to my dog. I have rarely had such friendly and professional service at a mechanic. They also checked my car for needed repairs and fluids free of charge and gave me a report on it. Went there to get a thumping noise whenever I pressed on my brake pedal. The front left tire wasn't working properly. And it's the Friday of a long weekend. It sounded bad. Bottom line, they diagnosed the problem as as nothing more than a loose bolt and after a quick adjustment I'm back on the road. Given how professional they were I had them do an oil change and replaced much needed wipers and burnt out lights. The staff were friendly and courteous and I really appreciated the complimentary inspection to let me know what to look for in future repairs but at no time did they ever try to up sell me. And one of the mechanics was a hockey dad. Just like me. Always trust a hockey dad. Thank you for everything. read more

I originally went in to have a muffler repair was quoted $159. the job was completed for $650. OUCH A week later the starter went had it towed to the garage by CAA and was told I needed a new starter, Oh hang on the mechanics told me I also needed a Timing Chain another $1,800. Recommend these guys? I'm going to do you a favor don't take your car anywhere near these guys. They can't repair cars and don't stand behind their work frankly they steal from people. read more

I took my 1999 Toyota Solara to my local Midas at 624 St. Clair Ave W. ( manager Theresa) in Toronto in March 2023 and had the alternator replaced. The part failed in June 2023 and Midas replaced it under warranty. It failed again on Aug 30 2023. This time it went poof on the SB Hwy. 400 vetween Mt. St. Louis and Rd. 93 Penetanguishene. After determinig that it would cost $358.00 to get it back to Theresa at my local Midas. I asked if I could take it to a closer location to where I was and I picked the 341 Yonge location in Barrie ON. Theresa called ahead got the ball rolling and before the car was on the flat bed I was getting a phone call fron the Barrie Midas manager( Noori) at 341 Yonge St. assuring me that he would get me on my way as soon as possible. True to his word my car was repaired and I was on my way with smile and no charge. When I arrived in Toronto I had a message from Theresa in Toronto to call her and was told upon calling her that she was going to cover my tow cost into Barrie. She did not have to do that as I had a standard limited warranty. She was absolutely great and the coordinated customer service I recievd from from these two mangers (Noori and Theresa) was terrific. They went above and beyond for me. I will continue to get my auto services from Midas. Thank you again Theresa and Noori. read more

DONT GO HERE! worst mistake brought my car in for a break job and got the rotors replaced as well. Didn't last 2 years before I had to get all 4 breaks and rotors replaced. This review is for an experience in 2011, but I think it contains a valuable lesson to car owners. They put on the new tires that I wanted, and were very nice to me about it. However, when came back from the coffee shop I was killing time at, they showed me my car on the hoist and told me there was "serious play in my tie rods." This could lead to loss of control of my car, and when could I come back in to get it fixed??? I politely declined the tie rod repair, and told my dealership to examine my car when I was getting an oil change there, as I did not feel the classic signs of tie rods giving out. The dealership told me my tie rods were pristine. I even asked another mechanic to check them out months later just in case and I was told I had years left in them. I replaced the tie roads 5 years later! Don't lie to people and use fear tactics to get people to replace parts of their car that are 100% safe! I was shocked someone would do this, especially since I was already in there to buy tires, so you were already making money off me that day. You get two stars for not pushing me and accepting my decision, as well as having a decent sale on tires. But you lost three stars for being dishonest and greedy! read more

Last Spring I went to Midas to have my winter tires changed and stored. The tires were on rims. I paid 152.49 for the half year of storage and labour. I arrived today to have them changed, only to be told that I didn't tell them that the tires were stored in the tire hotel. I felt like I was being blamed for the mistake. Since I only dealt directly with Midas and they were arranging everything, I quite honestly didn't think to mention it. I knew I was in their data base since I had also had my exhaust system completely replaced there last year. In this day and age, it doesn't take much to check the computer. I guess I assumed they would simply look me up when I made the app't, or my name would come up. I feel like I was dealt with rudely, no apology or offer of any compensation. I explained that I took a sick day from work in order to have this appointment. The front desk person took phone calls while I stood there, rather than finish with me which only further irritated me. It's all about customer service. An apology and an offer not to charge the labour at a re-scheduled app't would have been enough to keep me as a customer. Midas is trying to bill itself as a full service garage. People want to feel they can trust their garage. I do not feel that way. We all make mistakes. It could have been either of our mistakes. Being treated the way I was simply made me angry. read more

TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE Brought my car in for an oil change and although I had an appointment it still took 3 hours. When they finished I noticed immediately that my front windshield was now cracked. I have no idea how it happened and they completely denied it but I know for certain that one of the 18 year old mechanics was responsible. I'm also certain that they do not care about my bad review because they are very busy. This is a Mickey Mouse operation! There are so many places to bring your vehicle for service that you should avoid this shop. read more

They deliberately inconvenienced us to try to trick us into the store, then jacked up their prices. Originally, they quoted $39 for a winter care package that included tire rotation; when on the phone, I had to ask whether or not that would include swapping winter tires (already on separate rims) and they said that would be $20 more. When we showed up with the car, they then told us it would be an additional $12 per tire for balancing... which is a necessary part of swapping tires! Their "$39 winter care deal" ended up costing more than any of our local mechanics. Due to their sleazy bait & switch sales tactics, we left and got our service elsewhere. read more

Midas saved my life. I needed to borrow a pair of jumper cables for a friend who had to return a rental car before heading to the airport. His car had died unexpectedly and there wasn't a lot of time to spare. I drove to Midas which was the closest place I could think of to get jumper cables and explained the situation and promised to bring them back right away. So, I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Brought my car in to have winter tires put on October 2012. When I picked up the car, I noticed they had put the hubcaps on the winter tires which was unusual because no one had ever done that before. Whatever. Drove my car for two days only to notice that one hubcap had fallen off. I called the store. The owners son picked up (who is actually very nice) and i explained to him that after speaking to another repair shop, they informed me that the hubcaps should have never been placed on the winter tires in the first place. The son agreed and said that he would look for a USED replacement for me. Again, whatever. Called back a month later and spoke to the owner. She proceed to tell me that their policy states they do not cover lost hubcaps. I explained to her that her guys should have never put them on in the first place. She complied and said she'd call back when they found one. Fast forward to February 2013. Still waiting for my hubcap...call...they say they'll call me back...never do...call again two weeks later...they say they'll call me back...never do. Finally call again a couple weeks later and speak to yet another person who says "can you bring a hubcap by to compare so we get the right one?" WTF!!! Nobody had ever asked for that before. Go in with the hubcap and leave it with them. Three days later call and the son says we got one, but it's missing the emblem. Whatever. I said ok, I'd like to bring my car in to have my SPRING tires put back on since it's April...no problem...bring it in tomorrow at 10:30 am. Bring in my car at 10:30 sharp. Speak to another dude who says "sorry, we're behind and your car won't be taken in for another two hours". So I said "thanks, I'd like to get my hubcap back because I'm never going to come back here again". No questions at all. Not "oh why do you say that? Can you tell me so that I can improve our customer service?". NADA So I took my car in that day to Rust Check at 22 Geary Avenue and they took my car right away :) I highly recommend going to them since I had my car rust proofed and an oil change a few days ago. Very nice people and quick! Never will I go back to Midas. Sorry for the rant! read more

Went for an oil change as I had found a $5 coupon on their website. I called to make an appointment and asked the regular oil change price: $ 35.99. I arrived sharp and an Asian guy named Joshua told me see you in an hour. I've never had such a long oil change, but the deal was good, so I thought I will just walk in the neighbourhood and come back. Returned after an hour, my car is still at the same spot untouched. 2 ladies who had came after me just left. When I questioned Joshua what's going on he said: " It's like a Dr.'s office, they were fast but yours is a major thing" !!! Excuse me!!! An oil change???? I waited another 35 minutes for my car. At the check out he charged $35 plus tax showing $39.99 the regular price and the $5 deduction. What a scam! I just didn't feel like arguing and left quickly. Actually I changed the 1star rating to 3 star since after they read my complaint they called me back offering a free oil change. They were really attentive and super polite when I took my car back. Everybody can have a bad day, I guess! read more

I'm a quiet individual who treats everyone in a respectful manner. I very rarely complain, get upset, or lose my temper but, this recent experience has compelled me to do so. I went to get an exhaust rattle checked. The young black mechanic took my car while I was in the waiting room. He basically drove it like he stole it. He proceeded to constantly rev the engine while dropping the clutch multiple times while jerkily reversing almost stalling the car twice while whiplashing himself repeatedly. He then paused as if composing himself after the rollercoaster reversing job and shifted into first gear. The young man spun the tires and dropped the clutch three more times while jerkily trying to drive the car into the garage bay. They raised the car up and after 1 minute of excessive engine revving he swiftly came into the office area stating the problem was a plastic cover (common sense, a metallic rattle would not be caused by a plastic part) and excitedly urged the older Asian lady working the desk that he would need to take it for a test drive. I stepped in and politely asked the technician "please don't drop the clutch". His surprised facial expression and response was "that's your car" and hurriedly disappeared into the back of the garage. I realized he couldn't drive a manual car and was going to drive the wheels off my car. Now fearing my car wouldn't come back in one piece I politely asked the older Asian lady if another technician could test drive my car. Her response was a blunt "No, you can have your car back". My stunned and shocked reply was "okay I'll take my car". She then asked why and I explained exactly what had transpired and had to repeat the story four times. Her response every time was "he is mechanic what's wrong." The lady refusing to listen or take responsibility while continually asking me what was wrong followed me out of the store and continued asking me what was wrong after I had received my key and was trying to leave. I hotly stated "you're not listening to me". Please save yourself money, time, and stress by not coming to this Midas location. read more

Be very careful with these guys. Brought my car in for front brake problems in late spring 2014. They told me I needed new rotors and pads for which I paid $500. They didn't stop squeaking for weeks afterwards. They happily agreed to look at them again and was told that it should be fine now. They told me they grinded down the rotors a bit. They stopped squeaking for about 4 weeks but now they're squeaking again. Brakes should not squeak, especially brand new brakes and you should not have to grind the rotors to prevent it. That's problem one. At around the same time I noticed a screw in two different tires but left it as tire pressure didn't change. Eventually rear passenger tire lost enough pressure on two occasions that I had to refill on the spot. So I brought it to the Midas shop on St. Clair and told them the problem and asked that they repair both. I got a call a few hours later..."terrible news...we can't fix the tires. You need new tires". While it was entirely possible this was the case, I was curious to know why, since the screws I saw in the tires were in the centre or close to the centre which would make them repairable. I went to the shop and was shown the tires by the woman at the front counter. It was difficult to get a mechanic to talk to me to show me the problem. When I finally did, they had circled the edge of the tire (the problematic tire that was losing pressure) and told me that there is some crack that made the tire irreparable. I was shown the other tire which had small "nail" close to the edge and was told that they can't fix that one either because of the placement of the nail. At the time I did a fair bit of research about nail placement and what was fixable and what was not. What they'd "shown" me was indeed not repairable but I found it odd that the screws I saw in both tires the day before had disappeared, and a nail had suddenly appeared. I guess it's possible I ran over a nail on my way over. So apparently, both tires were irreparable. Once with a chalk circle around the edge (the tire that had lost significant pressure) and the other with this nail close to the edge. The latter, I was told, was also losing pressure. It wasn't losing pressure at all. I'd been driving on that tire for a while and check pressure frequently. As an option they suggested that I could go to a used tire place and buy two new tires but that all sounded complicated. I was a little suspicious and after coming very close to buying 4 new tires decided to get a second opinion. Midas put the spare tire on. I brought the problematic tire to Kal Tire for a second opinion. The fellow there told me that it would be a shame to buy 4 new tires since I only had 43k on the current ones. They could not find a leak where the chalk circle was but did find a hole, where the screw that I saw, was. They patched that from the inside and the tire is just fine. They were pros. They did not ask about the shop I'd been too that suggested I needed four new tires, nor did they disparage them in anyway. I've been driving on them for 2 weeks, no pressure loss from the patched tire, nor from the other tire with that little nail in the tread close to the edge. Cost: $28 plus tax. read more

A couple of months ago It was time to change the oil and I went there because the garage that usually serves my car was busy, and Midas was close to my place. I made an appointment, but when I went on that day and time, I was told it would take about an hour because the guys a little bit behind with another car. I said ok and left although I could not wait so long and finally that day I missed an important appointment. After two and a half !!!! hours they called me and said that oil pan was cracked and oil was leacking and repair cost $600 plus tax. I refused to repair it and just picked up my car. I was told that during previous oil change another mechanic broke the oil pan. Come on!!!! The oil was cnanged 5 months before and I had been driving the car for two months and there was no leacking at all!!!!. Moreover, I took the car for an inspection just two months before and it was totaly fine, I got safety certificate. AS they said the previous mechanic broke it, so it means oil pan was broken, but oil was not leaking until they touched my car. How is it possible? My car was in a good shape and totaly fine until they touched it! Never ever will go there again and will not reccomend this place!!! If you still want to go there, inspect your car in front of them before they touch it. read more
