Let's start with I am seriously a tough critic and hard to please (check my reviews) as I believe most shops or people are out to rip you off. I usually do my own repairs but let's face it 2021 has been cold and I am getting too old to lay on the ground in the wintertime. I knew I needed a starter in my van as it had been acting up lately, I finally broke down and called a handful of shops. The first one that intrigued me was this shop, Midas on Kent rd., as the gentleman on the phone was kind, courteous, very helpful and quoted me a price over the phone for what I wanted fixed. My experience from the time I dropped off the van until I picked up the van was also very pleasant; I noticed the phone being answered on time and the employees stayed constantly working and courteous to the customers. When I spoke with the manager "Jason" (I think) there were no shenanigans, the van was fixed, and everything looked great. I will visit this Midas again with this staff, in my experience it's the people that make the company. Thanks Midas. read more

Well, where do I start...went in for a synthetic oil change, took the car back smelling like burnt oil. After reviewing what happened, they never put the oil filter in correctly. Oil all over my engine etc. Took the car back complaining about a burnt smell when using the defroster, they said my engine gasket bracket, the gaskets were old/broken I guess. I'm more than a month in and the smell is still there...took the car back in after sending a review to corporate. They then said the air filters need replaced, and this after spending over $1200, I'm still sitting with their problem. I've been a customer with this store for the last 8 years, they won't see me ever again. I've given them business for a long time. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. I had to get my starter motor replaced after it died, and when I picked it up there were even more problems with the engine that were not there before. Two different repair shops cited these issues as common things that can be damaged during a starter motor replacement. During repair they messed up my knock sensor and then quoted me $200 more than the dealer did to replace it a second time as the one they put in was not installed correctly. I used to bring 3 vehicles to this shop. I have spent close to $10k in the last 8 months at this shop. Recently, I sent my son in with his vehicle for an oil change and tire rotation. As always, it turned out to be $1400 due to new brakes and a new arm control. When he first brought the car home, I noticed all four tires still needed air. Used to be a customer service norm here to fill tires with air but apparently, not anymore. Three days later, my son was driving to GA and the tire with the new arm control started making noise. A repair shop in GA explained the new control arm was not tightened. Also, it was discovered the engine was only filled to 50% capacity with oil. I immediately went into Midas to express my concern and disappointment. I spoke to the manager on duty who apologized but claimed there was no way these issues could be a result of their work. He also had no explanation for how else this could have occurred. I was told the actual store manager would call me in the morning. Two hours later, my son (not me) received a call from the store manager. He apologized and said he would speak to the Regional Manager and "make this right". He said he would call my son back in the morning. We are still waiting for that call and that was 4 weeks ago. I have to assume that the Regional Manager decided that this shop couldn't have be responsible for this negligence and putting my son's life at risk and chose to ignore us. At this point, I don't want an apology, nor a phone call or any other offer. I simply want my card credited the $1400 and the cost of the GA shop to finish what I had already paid them to do. So, if you choose to take your vehicle to this Midas or any Midas really, consider yourself warned. read more

Jason and his crew provided a comfortable atmosphere and were straight to the point when it came to repairs. A no BS shop! No upselling or pressure. Unfortunately, that is part of the reason that Corporate Midas terminated Jason and his crew. The other reason deals with the district manager and nepotism. Now it's a typical aggressive upselling not so honest Midas corporate store. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this store at all costs. Yes, it is now a store and NOT a shop. read more

Took my vehicle here to get serviced, to make a long story short, they incorrectly installed a part which fell off my vehicle the same day I came to pick it up. Ended up trying to call them before they closed and they kept hanging up the phone after repeatedly calling they finally picked up sounding very inconvenienced even though it was still during normal operating hours. Explained that the part that was supposed to be fixed fell off and they pretty much laughed in my face on the phone, I told them to make this right since it's not even been a day since having the vehicle back and they said for me to just drive it back up and drop it off for them to look at in the morning. Came the next day and asked them what happened and they said it was a "faulty part" meanwhile I inspected the vehicle myself and before I drove it back to their shop it make sure it was even safe to do so and saw that the bolt holding everything secure weren't even tight. I told them that they didn't do a good job with the repair and instantly they turned hostile towards me. I explained that the part the flew off my vehicle was a hefty sized part and if that flew off on the highway and hit someone else they could've died and that this was a serious situation and then they went on to insult my wife who was next to me who had no part in what was happening. At this point I'm upset because I wanted to make sure what was supposed to be repaired was going to be fixed correctly this time and told them I wanted a discount on the service I was provided since it was performed incorrectly, I had to inconvenience myself by coming back up there and since I was spoke to in such a condescending manner. This set him over the end and he said I shouldn't be speaking to someone like this who is a veteran which I'm not sure what that had to do with what was going on in the moment then it progressed to him threatening to call the cops on me which I said for them to be my guest and go ahead. After this didn't scare me he finally went to grab my keys and give them back to me so I can finally leave. After this encounter I went on to call their corporate number because I believe that behavior was simply unacceptable from a grown adult who allegedly manages the shop. Corporate offered no help and pretty much said to just go to a different shop which won't be happening since this is the kind of service they provide. Save yourself the hassle and headaches and find a local shop for your car needs. These big chains hire anyone competent enough to hold a wrench it seems. read more

I appreciate the family run atmosphere, as they showed true concern about diagnosing the problem which they did in a timely manner. Great work and customer service. I highly recommend this shop. The owner, Jason, seems like a great guy when everything is going great. However, if they make a mistake, try to charge you to fix that mistake, and then you argue this, he turns into a woe-is-me, rude, short tempered child. We had a tire replace, during which they were incredibly helpful and even gave my girlfriend a ride to work. Awesome, 10/10 service. They threw in alignment, said the stem and sensor was all good. The next day though, after driving less than 30 miles, the tire was flat. We took it back, had them check the tire, and at least on the rubber, there was no leaks. However, when we got it home we noticed it was slowly leaking from the stem, but enough to let it drive for a couple hours before you noticed it was getting low. When we tried to take it back, it went flat and needed towed. They said that the sensor that they said was perfect when they did the change, was now crushed and they would need to charge us to replace it. They said that even though the tire went flat less than 24 hours after being replaced by a national tire chain, it was on us to replace the sensor. When I said the sensor was only broken because of their mistake that made the tire go flat, Jason spoke over me, said he felt taken advantage of and "Hustled", said they would replace it for free and hung up. If you have no issues, they're great! If anything goes wrong, expect them to be rude, short tempered, and to be ignored when you bring them an issue that they caused. And Jason, if you feel taken advantage of for being held accountable for your crews mistake, imagine how it feels when a business tells you you have to pay for their mistakes. Replacing something your mistake broke isn't being taken advantage of, its the bare minimum of operating a business. read more

Went here to get a quote for new tires, they gave me one tire option and told me it was $230 per tire, not including any service fees or tax, just the tires. Went up the street to a different shop and they looked the same tires up and said they are $180 per tire. Midas gave me no other options for tires even when I asked about other options in my price range, and completely lied about the price. Don't go here unless you enjoy getting lied to right to your face. read more

They have always done an excellent job of communicating what the vehicles need and how long repairs and service would take. Had an appointment and I am still here for an oil change and air filter? 1.5 hours so far. Unusual, longer wait than normal. Manager was super but only 2 guys on the floor. It should not take this long. I come here knowing I will wait longer but today was kind of ridiculous IMHO. The Manager was terrific. He apologized for the long wait and was very kind and respectful. My dad went in for an oil change today. August 4th 2019. After the oil change and tire rotation, they brought out their clipboard and tried to tell my dad that 1) there was oil all over the engine and 2) the engine struts needed replaced and they looked to be "original struts." My dad then told the man that the oil is because we get the vehicles oil sprayed every year and that last time he was in here for an oil change, they convinced him his struts were bad and charged him $1400 to replace them. Side note: his old struts were fine and they only did this to get more money from him. He took his car to his actual mechanic, and was informed that Midas lied about how the struts are meant to work, and explained that they were supposed to work incorrectly, so that the correct struts would look faulty even though they were doing their job perfectly fine. Easy 1400 bucks to replace working struts with other working struts and pretend it is fixed. So not only did they not know what an oil spray was(I known almost nothing about vehicles and still know this), but they attempted to grift my father in the exact same manner as they did before. My dad told him this and that he would never allow Midas to do more than an oil change to his vehicle again. When called out, the employee (either Rocco or Rocko, he wasnt wearing a name tag and could be a wrong name on purpose) went to talk to his boss, came back, and told my father that he was no longer welcome at Midas. Needless to say, I wont be dropping this ever and this store can expect a level of me complaining to corporate and, if need be, calling news stations until I see every person here fired for attempting to take advantage of my father. read more

WARNING!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! If I could give a big FAT ZERO I would in a heartbeat. NOT trustworthy at all. Took my vehicle here and watched them as they worked on it. They kept test driving it again and again and again to see how the alignment was. (I went for an alignment and brake issues) When I got my vehicle back the alignment was EXACTLY the same! it veered off to the right just as it had before taking it there. Took it in again. SAME! I called and they said " Oh, maybe you hit a pothole" yea, no. It was like this literally as i was leaving your parking lot BOTH times. I asked that they please reimburse me for that alignment charge that they had zero clue on how to fix.. they said "NOPE!" they had to "inspect the vehicle first" yea right! Only to mess with it more? how about I take a video showing you how it veers off to the right instead! I don't want you touching my vehicle ever again. After getting my vehicle back from Midas I now have SEVERAL problems with it that I did not have before!! I will NEVER go back to them and I highly recommend you don't either. Just know that you won't be getting your money back after NOT fixing the problem. my vehicle is currently in much better hands at this moment and being fixed correctly. read more

We were on a family road trip from Richmond, VA to see my wife's family in Stow when my old faithful 4Runner exhaust started screaming coming into town from Columbus. I knew the exhaust didn't look good as it is original and now 18 years old but I didn't think it would fail to the extreme it did on the long trip. I'm someone who does all their own car work so I was reluctant to get it fixed on the road but my wife I insisted for the security of our 2 y/o daughter and 15 y/o dog. The guys at the shop got me back on the road in no time and were honest as they come. I only wish I had found the level of customer service and work ethic these guys displayed here in Richmond. Chad, Dom, Steve, and Dakota were all instrumental in stringing my exhaust back together without a high cost and in rapid fashion. You all are the best and I truly wish we had a shop like yours down here in Richmond, I would give away all my wrenches. Sorry it took me so long to write this review, eyoung kids keep old men busy. Just came from there. The guy running the place, "Larry", used to work for Munro. I now know why. Munro used to pull that crap of lulling you in and getting your car in the air and then hitting you with an exorbitant repair estimate. I threatened them with police to get my car off their rack with no work being done after this guy started spouting about how it would be illegal for him to release my car to me in the state it was in. Please, let me call the police for you. I know there is no such law about repair shops keeping vehicles that are in need of a simple brake pad fix. This guy is pulling the same stunt at Midas. I do not have the ability to work on my own vehicle so I am forced to go to repair shops (landlord rule). The tech looked under the vehicle and said he saw the leak in my brakes. I know for a fact a splice job, which is common in the industry, will only take about 10 minutes. I've worked maintenance before at a previous job. Also know the splice will only cost about $7 in material and probably another $10 in brake fluid. "Larry" (big redhead guy) starts in with his spiel about it being a long job, 7 or 8 hours. And you all know tech hour rates are huge (ranging anywhere from $65-130 per hour) so he's looking to make a quick buck off some fool. Funny, yesterday on the phone you told me it would probably only be in the air about 20 minutes. Stay far away from here folks. Unless you have a lot of money and time you need to burn up. read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago with my Aunt's car (she is in assisted living very near this location) that had a flat. I couldn't get the tire off because the lugnuts were stuck, so I inflated the tire and drove it there hoping it had a slow leak. I had no appointment and it was right after they opened, but I was out of there within an hour. They couldn't find a puncture but took the tire off the rim and cleaned it, fixed the problem! They didn't even charge me for this, even after I told them we didn't get the tires there. The manager said it didn't matter it was their policy. They also fixed a dragging protector flap under the engine for a very minimal fee. I couldn't have been happier with the service and interactions I had! read more

This place is pretty much like any other oil change/brake joint... I'm not sure what their normal price for an oil change is but they were running a deal at $17.99 for an oil and filter change and a tire rotation. Everything was good except for the fact that the technician got a little sassy when he brought me my air filter that he said needed to be changed and I refused to pay for one right then and there. FYI - this is a common ploy most oil change stations use to get a few extra $ out of you...the air filter. While it does need to be changed during your car's lifetime, it lasts for quite a while without needing to be replaced. Mine simply needed to be hit with an air hose for a minute and I had just replaced it not long ago, so I refused to pay $18 for a new one...he didn't like this and got a little snide. I also asked at the end if they had rotated my tires (as advertised on the sign out in front) and he said that he "looked at the tires and they looked like they were supposed to" so they didn't need to be rotated. Hmmm...could that possibly be because I normally have them rotated at every oil change? At this point I was a little annoyed and just wanted to get home, but if it were another customer he probably would have had an earful. I'm not a complainer but I will not return to a business that takes shortcuts and gets an attitude when you decline an "extra" service. $17.99 was a good deal for an oil and filter change but next time I will head to the place across the street for $21.99 and no hassle. read more

I am writing another bad review about my daughters car. The mechanics took advantage of me. My daughter was visiting from Pittsburgh after Christmas. The car had no heat and was stalling. Midas was close, so I took it their. $1012 latter, she drove home. One week later the car broke down, had to be towed. The guy at the shop that her friend owned said they couldn't put it on the lift due to the car having so much rust, he was afraid it was going to fall apart. Also the car needed a head gasket. Had I known all this I would not have let Midas fix the heat. They ripped me off and not even one week later Gavin's get the heat died and being out $1012.00 my daughter has no car. I'm sick of being ripped of by these shitty places. Don't take your car their. Wiring with the District Manager did no good, because he didn't care either read more

Stopped there for an estimate on brake work recently and walked away laughing. Was told the $679 estimate for rotors an brakes on both axles included new rotors because rotors are throw-always these days and they can't be machined. So, I took the rotors down the street, had them machined for 10 bucks each and saved hundreds by not letting them touch my car. I don't appreciate being lied to. read more

Went to have my back brakes checked . the man at the desk said you get a free tire rotation, all fluids topped off..after they beat on my back drum with a big hammer for 15 min. a technician came over to me and said , if we get the hub off we wont be able to put it back on,, just then a 3rd technician came over and adjusted the brake shoe in , took 5 seconds , the hub came right off..very little ridge ..shoes where great. ( TOM ) the person running the shop said for $ 29 they would clean and adjust the brakes , i said no thanks , so when they put it back together one of the studs was messed up , hit with a hammer ,,was told it was like that, and that i had enough lug nuts anyway ,and handed me my lug nut,,,after at was all done , there was no fluids checked ,,no tire rotation ,,even thought when asked ,they said they rotated the tires ,, i stood at the big windows and watched , plus still had the front brake rotor dust on both front wheels, clean chrome on rear wheels ,,I talked to the tec. that did the work said he did not know you could adjust the brakes to get hub off THEY. the also got really rude when i did not want to buy a $ 1000 worth of tires , that nobody even knew what they looked like.......
