I recently brought my car to Midas on Adlai Stevenson Drive, Springfield, IL, on 4/28/25 for brake repairs, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. The initial service included replacing brake pads and rotors, and they first inspected my car regarding the problems I was experiencing (I have a PDF of that inspection). Initially, the parking brake actuator was noted as okay, but after they installed the parts, I was informed that there was now a problem. The technician mentioned that the caliper was overextended, which caused complications with the brake sensor. This was surprising, especially since their initial inspection indicated everything was fine. After their service, I noticed a blinking park light on the dashboard, which was a new issue. Additionally, the inspection sheet reports a time of 12:30, yet I arrived at the shop at 1:30. I'm puzzled about how they completed the inspection before I even arrived. I expected a higher standard of care and thoroughness, particularly with such critical components of my vehicle. When I raised my concerns, the staff did not provide a clear solution or take ownership of the problem. It seems random that this issue arose after installation, leading me to suspect something was done incorrectly during the process. Now, they are asking me to pay $412.59 to fix the problem that emerged after their service, despite having already paid for the initial repairs that reflected on the inspection report. When i requested a new report that indicates the flashing light on my dashboard they ignored my request. I recommend potential customers to be cautious and ensure that all aspects of their vehicle are thoroughly checked and documented. It is rare in today's world to run into folks who are willing to take the time to listen to the vision of what you are trying to accomplish, and adopt that vision as their own. The folks at Midas did that for me. I wanted to install a custom high performance exhaust for our new 2017 Subaru WRX. After calling around, these folks could get me in pretty quickly, and seemed reasonably priced. Even though I have never used them before, I trekked from Petersburg to Springfield with high hopes..and boxes of parts for install. The staff was very friendly, prompt and courteous. They were honest about the time it would take, and potential pitfalls and additional charges that may occur. They began the install immediately, and seemed personally invested in my project..like they were working on their own car. I knew from watching YouTube videos that we were probably going to have an issue getting the "J" pipe off of the turbo charger, and we did. This resulted in extra time (a half hour or so) of work. Because of the extra time it took (again, ..anticipated)They asked me what I thought might be a fair charge for the extra time...not demanded, but asked. You have to love working with folks like this. We settled on a price, and I was on my way. The install was professionally done, and I was able to inspect everything while the car was on the lift. I would highly recommend Midas on Stevenson Drive, and plan to return for additional work when needed. I love going to Midas for many reasons. The only reason I started going there was convenience....it's right across the street from my neighborhood. But as the past four years went by I had gone to a few other places here & there for oil changes or other little things and honestly none of them could beat that little Midas right outside my neighborhood. Vince is the best! He is there every day with a friendly attitude. He knows a lot of customers by name and can often be found joking around with them. I also have come to trust them because there are times when I take my car in because I thought something might be wrong with it or when I say I just want them to see if they can find anything that needs changed or replaced or flushed and they will honestly tell me "we looked and couldn't find anything. Your car is in great condition." So they don't just try to find stuff wrong just to make money. Also within the last few weeks I pulled up too far on a curb and my bumper got torn when I backed up. I drove straight there after work and they fixed it and didn't even charge me. Just this morning I woke up to a flat tire. They patched up the tire and put it back on for me and again no charge! This Midas really came through for us. Our family was traveling back from vacation on a long road trip when we hit something in the road that caused an odd noise to occur under our car. We showed up at this Midas a half hour before closing time. I was kindly greeted by Linae. I explained our situation and without hesitation, she said they could take a look at our car. They quickly got the car into the garage and starting looking at it. I went into the garage to show them where I was hearing the noise. Tim, Linae, another mechanic and I were all looking for the source of the noise. We determined it was probably a loose mudflap that was vibrating in the wind and hitting the tire. Tim put a plug in the mudflap and I took it for a test drive. No noise! A simple plug fixed it. When I returned to the office after the test drive, the manager, Linae, and Tim where there to see how it went and to tell me there would be no charge! This Midas team really saved the day. I dropped my husband's car off to get a new muffler and they said they would call once they looked at it, so they could quote me. They called and told me what was wrong and what needed to get fixed. I asked if they could e-mail me the estimate, so I could forward the information to my husband at work, and they gladly did. They wrote what needed to get fixed, what the part did, and why it needed to be changed. They were able to get everything fixed within 2 and a half hrs and were very friendly and fair priced. I had to wait a little longer than the estimated time, but they gave me a discount for waiting. They always asked if I was satisfied and made it clear to come in if I heard anything unusual and they would fix it right away without waiting. We had our Nissan towed from Illopolis to Midas on Stevenson drive in Springfield. Midas was very busy on that Saturday but they still decided to check out the car. Upon looking we realized that there must be a leak because all the oil was out of the car. They put the oil in and it started up but ended up dying again. Unfortunately, the engine is no longer good! They offered us a new engine but we decided to just junk the car because it really wasn't worth it. These guy were super nice, fast, and even cracked a joke with my fiance. We were on vacation 300 miles from home when we discovered the strut assembly and sway bar link needed to be replaced on our car. The spring on the assembly was broken and sliced a hole in our tire as well. The nearest dealership couldn't get us in for at least two weeks. Another local garage could look at it the next day. Aaron told us he would look at it immediately and do what he could to get us back on the road. We had the car back within five hours and were able to continue enjoying our vacation. read more

Pulled my car into the Midas parking lot, walked in the door, explained to the gentleman at the desk, what my situation was with my exhaust that had just broke apart on my car. He said, let me get your car pulled in, and we will take a look at it. 30 minutes later had me up and on the road again! I hate getting my oil changed because places like this are always trying to get you to fix more things and spend more money. This location not only has the friendliest staff but didn't try to sell me anything extra. Also, I have a Volvo and most oil changes are around $100-150 for me but here they charged $60. I live out of town and will drive a little farther to get my oil changed here over other places! read more

I have visited the same location for every oil change for the last few years. They've always been honest and helpful. I usually have a child with me so my only reason for not using 5 stars is the tv doesn't get more than 1 or 2 stations and the waiting area is a little dirty. Midas has been my go-to auto shop for years. They always get me in and out in a timely manner, and it's a very convenient location for me. They have fair prices, and always ask before they repair anything, okaying the price with me. I've had batteries and oil changed there, as well as brake lines installed. Have had work there many times, from replacing a bolt on the engine mount to new tires and oil changes. Last week, they drilled out a rusted screw that had been holding one side of my license plate. (It was hanging at an angle). They even gave me a new screw for a phenomenal price. Very nice, professional staff. read more
