I knew my truck was in need of breaks before I traveled to Springfield. I had been putting it off and thought I could push it until my return. I was wrong. I have a friend that owns a Midas in Chicago so I trust the work and pricing. Was cautious about using a different shop but they did a good job. The estimate was higher than the final price due to what was described as a parts and labor pricing issue. (They should work on that). But the final price was fair for full pads and rotors on both axels. As I was leaving I met the mechanic that did the work. I can tell he has been turning a wrench for a long time. Had an oil change and free tire rotation. They were dodgy about the tire rotation so I marked my driver's side tire. Tires were not rotated. All the oil has drained out of my oil pan, so they messed up my oil change too. I can't imagine failing to rotate tires and messing up an oil change. The owner or management responded here, but why would I ever trust this company, the negligence is astonishing. I'm going to tell everyone I know about this. I'm baffled. I have been to this location a few times for oil changes without issue, but not this time. I tried to make an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation online twice and did not receive confirmation. I finally called and the appointment was approved. When I got to the store, they did not have the appointment but the beleaguered front desk person remembered speaking to me. I arrived at 3:45. It is currently 6:06 and I am still waiting for my car. The mechanic had to run out for a filter around 5:00 because they didn't have one in stock. It is the Friday before Labor Day and I expected to wait a bit longer, but I won't be back. I came back to this review a few hours later to add a star and an addendum. I finally got my car back at 6:30 (they closed at 6). Everyone was very apologetic. Apparently they accidentally drained my transmission fluid while checking the level. I do want to say it was literally 100 degrees today and there's no air conditioning in the shop so I can understand how mistakes were made. I also was not charged for the oil change or tire rotation. Furthermore, the guy working the front desk was friendly and compassionate to everyone who walked in and I even heard him offer help to two young customers who happen to live in his apartment complex and struck me as international students. Still a hard pass on taking my car back though. "Was the check engine light on when you brought it in?" Is not something I want to hear after an oil change. read more

Back in May of last year they put new front rotors on my car 7 months later had to get new front rotors because they resurfaced my brake pads put them back on my rotors. Come to find out you don't do that and that's why the rotors went out quicker. Because I went past the 12,000 warranty they wouldn't do anything about it. read more

I was in the area for the weekend and started getting a warning indicator on my dash for a potential tire problem. I visited this Midas on Saturday morning suspecting I had picked up a nail in one of my tires. I was correct, and the service tech went to work right away on the repair. Ownership changed and service went straight downhill. I scheduled an appointment online and received email confirmation of the time I had requested. When I showed up at that time, I was told my appointment was the day before. I showed them the email and they just said, "it looks like our system glitched again." They said they could get me in right away, though, so I said I would wait. Waited a couple of hours for an oil change. During my wait, two different customers complained of previous work not being completed correctly. I listened to the explanations from the guy at the desk. In one case they blamed the parts distributor for not including a necessary clamp. In the second case they blamed the customer for not explaining the symptoms completely enough. I finally got my oil change. A few weeks later, I had a bad oil leak. The oil pan bolt was just a thread away from falling out. read more

My last and final experience with this guys was heartbreaking. I nearly got a heart attack. I was totally wrong on my last review about them but I later got to realize their way of making customers spent recklessly. I was at their Adlai Stevenson shop to complain of some noise at my rear. They conducted their usual inspections and came out with an estimate of about $1400. I asked they fix it only to notice after that there is another noise from the front and the one I complained of has gone worse. I went there the second day to complain, I was shocked when they came out with another estimate of about $4000 that my rear-end is damaged. The question I have been asking is why didn't the first inspection reveal this. Why did I spent about $1500 and the main issue I complained of never resolved. I was smart to leave the shop for another shop where I fixed the whole issue for less than $100 They said they will call me for that terrible customer service but they never did. I was on a road trip from California to Indiana and the car broke down. I called AAA roadside service and Midas was the closest location so they towed it there. Aaron and his team were able to get my car fixed in 2 hours which was amazing. He even came to pick me up since the tow truck driver refused to let me ride with him. Would give zero stars. This has been probably my worst experience with any oil change company. As they simply did not do their job, causing my car to catch on fire. Under 40 miles of driving my car after the oil change, my oil light came on, my car stalled, and caught on fire. I can't believe people who change oil on a regular basis could forget something as simple as tightening the oil cap. It is a liability and thankfully no one was hurt in the event. The mechanic at Midas will have your vehicle driving worse and have more issues than it had when you drove it to them. I went for a hearing problem and left with my check engine light on and my vehicle started to misfire. They did not do a diagnostic test to see what was wrong with my vehicle and did not test drive my car to make sure everything was okay. Aaron the mechanic was very rude and called the police on my partner for being angry that the vehicle had these problems after it was left in their possession. The will price gouge you and your warranty company. They will lie to you about what they fixed and your vehicle will not be the same way when you left it in their care. I would not suggest my family nor my friends to use them to fix their vehicle. They will over charge you and have you paying more money for issues that they caused. The mechanics here are wonderful! I initially brought them an old Chevy K20 and had them install side pipes with chrome tips. Their work was beautiful and the truck sounds great! I was so impressed that I began bringing them other vehicles for general repairs too. Fast, friendly, and affordable service every time. More importantly, I trust them completely. I have had up and down experiences with Midas. The reason I am giving this location 4 stars is because I have came here after issues with other auto places and they have always tried to get my car fixed as quickly as possible. I have came here twice with repairs that need done the same day and both times they were able to get me in. There have been little issues here and there regarding the payment aspect of Midas but the over all customer service I would say is highly recommendable. This being said, I would avoid getting a Midas credit. The company that backs it charged me interest on a card I had paid off (before the pay date). They Refuse to admit they were wrong then ironically the ended up sending us a refund check after we agreed to pay the interest just to settle the matter and close the account. If they would have just corrected the problem to begin with and voided the incorrect interest charge, there would have been no problem. read more
