PROS: 1. If you have an older car that you don't care much about and you need just the basic oil change or battery replacement - the Midas on Broad Street is an OK shop. 2. Their prices are very affordable. 3. They offer a loaner car (Honda Fit) if you have to leave your car with them for a day. CONS: 1. I've got a dent the size of a fist on the rocker panel of my car when I left the car for a day there. I'm not sure if it happened on the parking lot or when my car was being put on the hoist. Their parking lot is cramped and the traffic is heavy. 2. Not good with higher end parts: when I brought a set of new tires and rims there to be mounted on my car, one rim got scratched during installation. The Midas employees did apologize and reimbursed the cost one rim to me - Thank you! But, these rims are sold as a set only, I found it impossible to buy just one from the same vendor. I had to order a new rim and wait a couple of months for it to arrive. 3. Not very tidy staff: my car has beige cloth interior, very clean. I brought the new rim for installation in the box in the trunk; at the garage the technician has unloaded the box from the trunk to the oily floor. When I picked my car the box with the removed/scratched rim was placed on the rear seat. The seat is no longer beige or clean - I was unable to remove the oily stains from the fabric. read more

I've been taking my car here for 2 years and will definitely keep coming here. From the shop dogs, to the friendly front desk staff, to the loaner cars and the quality of the work - they've earned, and kept, my business. I love how involved they are in the community with blood drives and Feed More, and they will give coupons for oil changes occasionally. Thanks for everything you guys and girls do, hope not to see you soon! read more

Don't ever go here, they WAY overcharge you. I was charged $50 just to put in a battery when places like Auto Zone do for free (unfortunately I did not know that before I took my car here...) read more

What great customer care, purchased new tires and they worked with me until the tires were perfect. Love their loaner program. Prices are reasonable but the yes service was the best. read more

Great friendly service! They took care of my car quickly and were very reasonable! I would recommend them for all your car care needs!

I have had nothing but the best service from here! I got an inspection from another company which the repairs were $300 more than the same repairs here. They were fast, curious, and explained everything they were doing to my car and why. I am going back! read more

Awesome, fast friendly service and even a loaner car! I was amazed at how painless this was!

Very nice folks, family friendly and helpful. Will be back. Loaner car was a life saver for this unforeseen visit with my toddler in tow.

Last minute State Inspection. They were super slammed with appointments. They serviced my car quickly and were very professional. It was a VERY POSITIVE experience. read more

Finally, a shop that is honest. Explained cost up front in a very direct manner and did not try to sell me brake pads when I didn't need them. You can tell they care a lot about the shop from the decor to the 2 dogs who hang out behind the front desk. Very pleased with the experience and I will defiantly return. read more

this place is garbage do not take your car here. they will lie about quotes and hourly rates to get you in the door. not to mention horrible customer service. very bad experience, didn't even get my car serviced here it was so bad i didn't feel comfortable giving them $3,000. The owner's wife who I talked to was very rude and not helpful and didn't take accountability at all. Not to mention during the phone call, she switched to another call because my call was "taking too long" and laughed as I went on to explain why I was upset. I originally posted a review leaving out the horrendous details but after the owner replied to me differently than he's responding to the other comments I decided to post my entire experience. This was THE WORST customer service experience i have ever had, and it honestly felt discriminatory after reading their responses to other customers compared to mine. This place does not deserve your business or hard earned money. read more

Really great customer service, went in for a routine oil change, and my car feels really smooth after being serviced. 10/10 would go again.

I had to find somewhere quickly since my tire pressure light kept coming on. I was delighted that they dealt with it immediately while I waited. Very courteous, kind and helpful, even though I wasn't very good at describing the problem! Also affordable! Problem fixed and on my way. Highly recommend. read more

This was my first time at Midas. The appointment for the state inspection was made easily over the phone. When I arrived everyone was extremely friendly. Required repairs were shown and explained to me in good detail. When I mentioned I had to leave by a certain time and the crew made sure the repairs were completed by that time. While waiting it was great to read about the company's commitment to the community. Thank you cards and pictures were proudly posted at the counter and the waiting area. My esteem for Midas increased when it was noted that a $10 donation to the food bank in lieu of the $16 inspection fee could be made. Every single customer interaction that I observed was friendly and professional. I will definitely be back! read more

Midas got me in and out quickly for my annual state inspection. Great experience

I rated a one star yesterday based on THAT day. Before 8 am, the owner had called and arranged with me PERSONALLY to rectify the situation today, to repair my vehicle, not only doing the repairs THAT day, but in under 40 minutes. The company did not have to call me back, nor reach out so generously. This was a refreshing and SO helpful surprise that made my life easier this particular day. Thanks Midas. I will definitely go back because accidents happen in life, but how they are handled is the real test of integrity. read more

I really wish I could give them a higher rating but that won't be happening. I took it to Midas because I needed an oil change and an inspection. Although my inspection failed (first time in 12 years!) I knew my fiancé could fix the issue once he was back in the Country from his work trip. After explaining the issues to him, he had the worst gut feeling that all of this was a little sketchy. We went back today since the repair had been made and that's where the two stars come to play. By VA law a car that is coming in for re-inspection will be seen before other scheduled appointments. My fiancé was calmly talking to the front desk and asking if they followed that law. The manager comes out and is aggressive immediately, which made no sense. My fiancé calmly explained that this is the law and manager kept arguing telling us that they have 40 cars they're working on and we'll be 41. Again he got aggressive when my fiancé was just trying to ask a question. I make an apt for Wednesday and we head to the parking lot. My fiancé, who used to be a mechanic, called the Virginia State Safety Provision to make sure what just happened was legal, and guess what? It wasn't legal at all, shocker. While he is on the phone with them, they get a call from manager and once we were off hold, we were told to go back inside and they took my car immediately. Very happy that everything was corrected and safe to say I won't be returning. read more

If you have to have car trouble this is the place to land. Our Toyota Sequoia recently was in need of immediate attention due to check engine light, etc. Was given welcoming, prompt attention - loaned a spotless, fun-to-drive loaner so there was no interruption to my day & received professional estimate/repairs. Couldn't have had a better experience - pleasantly surprised at every turn by how painless the staff made an otherwise unwelcome event. Highly recommend these hard-working, considerate & honest folks. read more

100% take advantage of women. They put women at the desks to give the appearance that they are "women friendly". My car has been in countless times after paying $2,800. They had passed my car for inspection days before then the engine light turns on. I make the mistake of telling them I think there is something wrong when I accelerate as this opened up a range of things they could potentially say were wrong and charge for, which they did. $2800 later my car has been in 4 more times each time they say "it's something we should have caught before". I would go to another mechanic but would have to pay for whatever this awful place didn't fix. So I will keep coming back to this Midas and get my $2800 worth of repairs. This place sucks. read more

By far the worst place to take your car. This is my second time coming here, and I can't tell if the first time or the second time was the worst experience I've had. The staff is rude if they even talk to you, you'll honestly get lucky if they say more than 5 words to you. Their attitudes are just terrible. Went to get my power steering pump looked at, and the day that I scheduled they didn't even look at it so I had to wait an extra day for them to even take a look at my car. When they finally looked at it, they said it would be 300 to replace a ring. I called them back and asked if someone else could go ahead and pay for it and they confirmed, then 5 minutes later I get a call saying it's going to cost an extra 1500 because of the pump and then an additional 150 for more labor. I only got the ring fixed and when I came back the next day, I paid and they didn't even say anything about what they did, didn't give me a run down of the car, or even show me where my car was in the lot of probably about 50+ cars. Last time I give them and their rude employees anymore of my money and time. read more

On Sunday afternoon, I looked outside and realized the brake lights were on in my car. After messing with the brake pedal for a while, sure enough the broken grommet for the brake light switch fell out onto the floor board. I called Midas and although they were closing in six minutes, the young lady told me to go ahead and bring my car in and said I could take one of their loaner cars. I was a bit concerned on Monday afternoon since they had expected to have it taken care of in the morning, but I did have their loaner, so no problem. A technician called Monday afternoon and told me about a few other things he found wrong with the car, but didn't pressure me to have them taken care of right away. I did authorize him to go ahead and complete an oil change since my oil was very low. The work was complete on Monday afternoon and I picked up the car on Tuesday morning. A few hours later, I realized I had left my phone charger in the loaner car, called them up, and **they had someone bring my charger to me at my home address.** Now that is service! Also, the owner (or manager?) called me up to make sure that I was satisfied with my service. Very impressed! read more

I went to Midas for a state inspection instead of my regular mechanic because one of the local high school kids was selling coupons as a fundraiser. My brake pads were about due for a change so I asked them to check those, too, which they confirmed needed replacing. Within less than a year of Midas' service, my brakes were squeaking and vibrating again so I brought it back to them. They didn't admit any fault but admitted the brakes were showing "premature wear" and agreed to replace them for free. The car was also due for another state inspection so I asked them to do that as well. They called me around 2 p.m. to say they were working on the car 'right now' and that it would be ready to pick up 'late this afternoon.' I arrived at 5:45 p.m. to see the car still on the lift and had to wait another 15 minutes for them to finish, including witnessing a very dirty, greasy mechanic drive it out of the bay without using mat or seat covers. I drove off their lot with the windows up and radio playing so I didn't hear the horrible noise coming from one of my wheels until the next time I drove the car. I took it back yet again and found they had bent one of the brake-mounting clamps. A few weeks later, as I was driving to an appointment -- as luck would have it right next door to Henrico County Police Headquarters -- when I happened to really look at my dashboard inspection sticker for the first time (I know, dumb me) and noticed to my horror that Midas NEVER changed the old sticker and it was now expired! There were police cars coming and going all around me but miraculously they didn't notice. I drove straight back to Midas to have them replace the sticker. They asked for my key -- they wanted me to leave the car with them while they put me into the queue! I insisted they get somebody to do it right away and after about 10 minutes was treated to the same dirty, greasy mechanic from a few weeks ago climbing into my car, again without seat or mat protections. Midas apologized for the various errors and their office staff was always polite, but never again! I learned my lesson and will go back to my regular guys at McGeorge Toyota and Dance's Texaco. read more

Very clean, incredibly courteous and helpful employees, and quick service. I will definitely be back. Service used: tire rotation and alignment. read more

DO NOT go here if you do not know what is actually wrong with your car. They tried to charge me $1,600 for COMPLETELY unnecessary repairs until I took my car to my dad's house and he did all the repairs for a total of $200 for the parts. read more

Not great. Very friendly people but they totally screwed up the wheels on my car. I had to go back THREE TIMES! because they didn't put the wheels back properly the tires wore and I had to replace them. Even after rechecking them because there was a weird noise, they overlooked the same problem and on when we went on our camping trip our wheel almost fell off and we ended up spending half the day at a car repair store. They reimbursed us for that but we still had to change all our tires due to wear. Oh and they didn't reset our oil gauge. Terrible neglect. read more

First of all, this location is open until 6 pm on Sundays, so they are already high on my favorites list. Realizing that I needed a state inspection late Sunday afternoon, I called around until I was greeted with the friendly customer service manager at this location. She was able to squeeze me in if I could get there right away. No run around, no excuses, no problems! I got there, she explained the process and they got to work. As explained, I received a call to discuss the inspection. Uh, oh...I needed a repair, then an alignment, to pass inspection. It sounded kinda major to me, but they were able to get it done that day with in-stock parts. What? That's unheard of! I boldly asked if they could possibly include an oil change while they were at it. "Of course," they said! The guys stayed late, got my vehicle fixed up and when I arrived back to pick up my car, the keys were exactly where they said they would be. Fortunately they were all still there in the foyer chatting before heading out for the night. I was able to thank them for the extra effort, but it seemed like second nature to them. No biggie... THIS is what customer service looks like. They were open and friendly, they explained the process, then they explained the work, they maintained a solid inventory of parts, they completed the work that day, they stayed a little late to get it done...with smiles on their faces! Thank you to Mark Smith for running an honest business and hiring great people. You've made a raving fan out of me! read more
