This Midas location has changed that. they have really done a lot of good work on my car to bring it back to a decent condition. Full disclosure, I'm in no way car savvy at all. Which leads us to what brought me to Midas (and loving every part of the experience). Last week, my air pressure light came on. No biggie, it's cold as heck and the tires looked low. Put air in, went on my merry way and the light stayed on. Tried to turn it off, still no success. At this point I'm nervous that there's something pretty wrong with the car. Contacted Midas for an appointment online, they got back to me within an hour. He wasn't able to see me same-day, but did go out of his way to find an appointment as soon as possible, plus made time to squeeze in an oil change/tire rotation/fluid top-off. The appointment went smoothly, all-in-all I just (clearly) don't know what I'm doing and they topped off the tires, changed my oil and did their full inspection in less than an hour. Service-wise the guys here are super friendly and kind. I'm sure they see 100's of people per week who have no clue what they're doing, but they take it all in stride. Prices were reasonable, service was quick and friendly - what more could you ask for?! read more

I was visiting the area and my car wouldn't start. They told me they needed to start by replacing the starter. Then, the starter helped a little, but they needed to look further into the engine and possible engine failure. I had it towed to my home mechanic who discovered, they only needed to charge the battery! My starter was most likely just fine and my vehicle definitely did not need any engine repairs. I DO NOT recommend. They are NOT honest, and obviously out to make $ off of unsuspecting customers. read more

This place is NOT affordable! These other reviews have gotta be paid. I contacted them for an appointment for some repairs and some rough engine idling and check engine light and they told me it would be $59.90 per HALF hour just to run rough engine diagnostics!! That's not even to fix anything! So if it takes them an hour to figure out the issue that's $120 right there. I will never go there and will never recommend it unless someone wants to spend alot of money. read more

I have taken my car here in the past. I recently went here because my car's temperature gauge went to hot and I immediately pulled into a gas station, added antifreeze because the jug was low but not empty. I took my car to Midas in Minnetonka (I won't say names now, I will say names later, you know who you are!) but they gave me an estimate of just over $1,600, they said I had a leak in the seem of my radiator and the lower hose was bad. They told me this over the phone, they said should we go ahead and get it fixed? I told them no, I'd come and get it. I then took it to another shop (not Midas), to my astonishment this other shop told me the clamps on the lower hose were loose and just needed to be tightened!!! I also needed spark plugs. So, this other shop saved me $1,370!!! Midas in Minnetonka, how many other people are you doing this too? You charged me over $1,000 for the last repair you did on my car and told me it was unsafe to drive and it shouldn't leave the shop without getting repaired and now I'm wondering how you screwed me over on that deal! Your labor charge is ridiculous and you have to lie about what is wrong on cars to screw people over even more? You should never do this to the locals that support your business, word gets around fast! Not very smart on your part! I'm appauled and will never let you touch my car again!! You should be ashamed of yourselves!! How do you explain yourselves??? read more

I love these guys! They are always willing to squeeze me in for an oil change at the last minute, they never dick you over or try to charge you extra, and if you can drive stick they have the most hilarious basemodel Honda Civic for a loaner car. The reason this shop has my undying loyalty (or at least until I finish school and move away) is because when I first took my car in for an oil change, they told me that the shocks and struts were busted and it needed $1500 of work. I hadn't gotten my glorious student loan check yet and after moving I was broke. I almost started crying because my car wasn't safe to drive and I couldn't afford to have it fixed - the manager offered to take a post-dated check. I had never even been to this shop before. I was so impressed by that I've kept coming back for three years and will miss them sorely when I move away! read more

I genuinely love this place! These guys are the real deal to me. I've taken my car here for basic check-ups every 6 months for about 3 years now. Every time I've been I left with the thought that I was given really fair and honest service. On a few occasions I thought my car might even need a particular service/something was a more immediate issue than it really was and they were very honest in telling me that it wasn't a necessary service at the moment. I couldn't believe that; I could have easily been taken for a ride but they were extremely truthful in the way they conducted business with me. I think the crew here has always been really friendly to me/other customers during check-ins/explanations of services too. 5 -stars. read more

One time I decided to go to this Midas versus the Jiffy Lube on 394 and Louisianna. They suggested all sorts of stuff that I didn't need and tried to run up the bill. I know that all places do this so I can't blame them too much, but I don't trust them. The work they did was fine but be warned that maybe you don't need everything they say you need. read more

Have gone to this Midas for 4 years for oil changes and have been very happy. People always warned me that Midas will screw you over but I never had any issues until I had my first service issue. I brought my car in to have them look at the brakes. They came back with me needing to replace all the brake pads, replace the back rotors (they said they couldn't resurface them), and flush the brake fluid. Total bill just over $500. Brought my car someplace else and they said the front brake pads are just fine, all the work that needed to be done was new back brake pads and the rotors could be resurfaced. Final bill $200. I have heard from numerous people that they will overcharge you and do things that don't need to be repaired. Disappointed as I always had good luck before with oil changes. Going forward, my car will never be brought to Midas for anything, not even oil changes. read more

I came here to have my battery checked after a few times of my car not starting. I did need a new battery so they replaced it. The service was quick and the workers were polite and seemed to enjoy their jobs. They also checked my tires for me and ended up finding a nail that had popped through my tire and recommended i have it checked somewhere else because it was too close to the rim for them to fix. I appreciated their help and was overall pleased with my visit. read more

This is the worst auto shop that I know. Last month 1/2013 I broght my 2005 kia sedona to MIDAS ridgedale (12812 Wayzata Blvd Minnetonka, MN 55305) to check everything and they told my need to do timing belts and water pump and air filter ... They charged me $1500 almost, I 'm ok and paid. After Midas do finish my car, I picked it up and next days, engine icon pop up and I bring it back to check , it is throttle problem, MIDAS - they want to charge me more $150 to fix but I bring it to pepboy auto , they told me that that problem was cause when do timming belts. BUT MIDAS still want to earn money from me, After they hear from me they will want to charge me $55 ( not $150 as last time they want ) , I did not pay for this, MIDAS always want to get money but was not responsibility with their job. BAD BAD , DO NOT come MIDAS again , I want to share this to everyone . read more

Without doubt my go to for anything car related. They do not try to squeeze me for additional costs, they are fast and fair! One time i had an issue with something rattling. I had a small accident 6 months earlier in the winter. The snow was too fresh, roads not plowed, and I hit the curb. I was pretty relieved when I saw no damage... until 6 months later I was hearing a rattling. Midas looked under my car and fixed the issue in minutes no charge. I even said, what do I owe you? He waived his hand, smiled and said have a good day. Like I said, they are more about a satisfied customer than any sho I have ever gone to. They have my loyalty! read more

I will be the first to admit I'm no expert when it comes to cars, but this Midas took full advantage of that. I had new brakes and bearings put in here a few months ago, and since my car was making the exact same noise it did when it needed new brakes, I brought it back to this location, since apparently the work is guaranteed. They called me back after I dropped it off and said they weren't even able to drive it since one of the brakes was completely locked and I would need new brake pads, rotors, calipers and a brake fluid flush. They said they would need to replace both sides since "they should match." I was also told I needed to have the work done if "I wanted to drive it out of there." All together I was quoted almost $800, which included the parts that were under warrantee from my last visit. Fortunately I got a second opinion from another shop...he said there was something stuck in the brakes and just had to replace the pad on one. Anyways, my bill was $120 and he said it would have been completely unnecessary to do all that Midas suggested. It actually makes me wonder if I really did need everything that was done the first time I went here. Wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. read more

I got an oil change here with a winter beater that I had paid 400 dollars for. I specifically asked them not to go looking for problems and to just change the oil. They did a full diagnostic check on my vehicle and called me back talking about I would then need to invest much more than the vehicle was even worth for some simple and unnecessary work. I was NOT happy with the service or the cost of doing business with this shop and will not be taking vehicles there in the future. read more
