Just after arrival two of the employees had an altercation yelling at each other using profanities. When they finally settled their grievance with each other and attended to business they were told of a coupon I had for a $29.99 oil change. They said fine and did the oil change. When checking out they charged $49.99 plus disposal fee. When asked about the $29.99 they said they don't carry the synthetic blend oil and they did the full synthetic oil change. They didn't notify me of this before hand. Then tried to up sell me on services I had done by another shop just a month prior. Beware! read more

When I called to confirm my appointment I was greeted with a very happy and helpful person on the other end of the phone named James. When I brought my car in, James was there and was even more helpful and wonderful in person! In fact, the entire team came out when I picked up my car (as they were closing) and they were all still smiling and genuinely seemed like then enjoyed working there and with each other. Other shops in the area make you seem like a nuisance for even calling so I was beyond thrilled with this customer service. The work was done quickly, and I got wayyyyy more work than what I paid for. I left feeling confident for the winter ahead and this is now my go to place for my car. I highly recommend going somewhere else for an oil change. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation with a coupon for 21.99. The guy at the desk told me my car manufacturer recommends synthetic oil and that the cost is an extra $5. It's a new car, so I said ok. Later, I looked at my bill and it said they used plain old 5W30. I called and they said that Chrysler must have changed back to using 5W30 and not 5w20 anymore, so that's what the mechanic used. First, I had the same car earlier model and it always used 5W30, and second, what does 5W20 have to do with synthetic oil??? I also checked the owners manual and synthetic oil is NOT recommended. They did admit to using 5W30 and agreed to give me $5 back. Don't know if they're ignorant or scammers, but either way, I won't do business with them again. Don't trust these guys!! read more

After my car battery died while dropping my son of this morning, and after getting a jump, not wanting to shut my car off, I headed to Midas. Not knowing if Midas even replaced batteries, not having an appointment, and absolutely despising car issues, I pulled in. Fingers crossed I asked the gentleman behind the counter if they could replace/check my battery. Sure enough they could! They pulled it right in, checked the battery (weak), got me a price and within 20 minutes I was on my way; new battery installed! Thank you Midas! read more

This is an update to my previous review. Midas did reach out to me to apologize for the service I received and, I have to say, I was impressed with that gesture. Most companies would not care to reach out at all. Since I've already performed the work myself, I have no need to return to Midas for service. But I may return if I need some basic work done in the future. I am increasing my rating to 3 stars because I am impressed with their attempt to make it right. They deserve at least that. Do not bring your vehicle here. I brought my car in because the AC wasn't working. I called to make an appointment and they assured me I would be out in an hour. They recharged the system checked for leaks. There were none. They were stumped. Instead of telling me that they told me I needed to get a ride home so they could get and read some electrical blueprints. The told me I would be done by the end of the day. When I left they took my car out parked it in the parking lot and did nothing to fix my car. Right before closing time I went to pick it up and it wasn't done. I asked why and they told me they were working on it all day. Every time I drove by in my truck it was sitting out front in the parking lot. They then tiled me it would be ready by noon the next day. It wasn't. By one PM. They still hadn't fixed the issue. I had enough and needed the car. They gave up and said they needed more time gave me back my car and charged me for a part they changed that was never bad. Throughout this whole ordeal they lied to me. The African American gentlemen behind the counter is the most dishonest individual I have ever had to deal with. I will never go back here. I urge you to stay away as well. read more

STAY AWAY!!! I went here a couple years ago to have them check on a sputtering engine noise. After they looked at my car the manager told me it was a $700 repair. He told me he had his "best mechanic" looking at my car and "totally trusted his opinion." I looked through the window to see a 20 year old working on my car - that was his best mechanic??? He also told me it wasn't a super urgent repair but that I should get it fixed soon. THANK GOD I did not have them do the "repair" that day because I later took my car to a different place where I found out it was a $25 fix!! MIDAS IS A TOTAL SCAM!! read more

Customer service could be improved. I understand that you may have other problems going on in your life, but to be rude and patronizing to a customer because of their young age and lack of experience and knowledge on their company's fleet system that they have just recently switched to does not make it acceptable. I needed a tire plugged because of it consistently leaking air, other service stations had an overnight or 5 hour wait. I work almost two hours away from I live. The roads were progressively getting worse cause of the snow. All I heard from said person is that they have a 30 min drive home in the weather. When calling my companies fleet for payment on the work done the person slammed the phone down very angrily due to the computer not working, also was patronizing me for not knowing things that only my fleet provider would know. This person made me feel like I was a burden to his day. read more

Thank you to the owner for finally hiring a Female Manager who is both delightful and knowledgeable! Had the pleasure of meeting Kaitlin, the new shop manager, a few days ago that completely changed many past negative experiences here into a positive one that succumbs the rest. Not only during the time were they busy but also had the nuisance of construction work surrounding their building. Even with these circumstances Kaitlin was running to grab phones, greeting customers with a upbeat attitude but also took the time to walk customers out in the shop not only to let us speak to the mechanics but to visually show customers what exactly it was that was wrong with our vehicles. For example my vehicle needed front brakes. Kaitlin showed genuine concern that my vehicle was unsafe, found the best prices for parts and had them there quick, explained and printed out a detailed estimate so that I could go over it if needed once I left, and had the job done in the exact time frame labor was quoted. My vehicle drives like a Bentley now instead of a semi truck thanks to these guys. Communication with customers is extensive and clear, Appointment times are now being held efficiently, Service is over the top, Prices are beyond fair, Facility's waiting room is cleaner than its ever been, Mechanics seem more friendly and willing to explain the necessary repairs. From hiring one person seems to have made this place do a complete 360 in a totally different direction for the better. Past managers ( one I believe still may be around) both men would not give you the time of day let alone take time to physically walk out in the shop with you and break down the repair bill. I've gone to Midas Rochester and that was an even bigger nightmare. Rochester Midas Manager has completely ruined the store along with his techs. Nothing but Non existing customer service and rude employees at Rochester Midas! In conclusion after my many negative experiences at Lake Orion Midas and other Midas Locations the owner needs to recognize that the New Manager they hired at Lake Orion has completely changed my mind about Midas Repair Facilities. Midas needs to know that hiring a positive, professional, knowledgeable, and kind young lady has changed the way that shop will be perceived and I am asking them to take into consideration to hopefully doing that to a few other Midas shops . She deserves to be acknowledged that is half the reason I am writing this review for the truly amazing job she is doing. I will definitely be back to speak with Kaitlin for all future repairs and appreciate her team Dean and Joe, the mechanics, for getting and doing a job well done. This is definitely my worst experience with oil change at Midas. I went do oil change for my car. And they didn't do test drive this time which they did every time before. And this pad just came off when I was on the way back and it was touching the ground with extremely loud noise. I was so scared so that I turned around and slowly drove back to the shop. I went back in and asked an employee for the manager, to which he replied,"I'm the manager." And I told him what happened to my car and asked him to take a look at my car, and then he send the technician who did the oil change for my car to look at it. And meanwhile I asked him did they do the test drive, the manager told me they never do the test drive for oil change. So I told him I got test drive every time I did oil change before(also the Midas store in Lansing). Then the manager told me that:" well the guy who did oil change for you before must did you a favor." Then he stopped talking to me and looking at his computer which made me felt that he didn't really care about that much. And we argued about the test drive and other things that I can't really remember, then the technician came in and the manager asked what's the issue, then the technician said:" it's just couple screws losing."(this really made me mad, I mean how can you treat a problem like that! I'm the person who drive the car!) Then I asked my car key from the technician, the technician answered:" it's in your god damn car!" I'm a international college student, and I have been in America for 5 years and this has been my most upset and angry thing that I met ever! read more

Decided to give Midas a try after receiving a coupon on an oil change and tire rotation. I ended up dropping my car off because I didn't want to wait and picked it up later on. When I picked it up I noticed a gash in my driver side door that was NOT there before as I would have noticed because it is on the DRIVER door. I figured they leaned up against my car with a tool belt on which scratched the paint right off. I would NEVER bring my car back nor leave it anywhere to get an oil change, very upset. read more
