I got lost due to the pavement being redone in the The Hat's parking lot. I am not familiar with the area. Thinking that the parking lots were connected, I made a right into the Midas parking. Realizing that was not the case, I turned around. There are speed bumps in that lot. Also there wasn't one human or car in sight. Yet this employee that has the nose of the Mad Hatter, yelled at me telling me to slow down. Numerous times. I was not going fast at all. I don't appreciate that at all. BEWARE. They did not put the oil plug back in my car properly and I lost all my oil. Thankfully I noticed a tapping from my engine and then the large pool of oil under my car before I drove and ruined my engine. Not only did they not put my oil plug back properly, but most of the screws for the cover on the bottom of my engine were missing. My husband was first in line, but the guy took other people first. After an hour+ later my husband said something. At that point the guy stopped working on the other cars to do mine. He was done so quickly that it actually concerned my husband. Well, that concern was justified. These kind of mistakes are absolutely unacceptable. My husband will be contacting you and I expect a full refund. Additionally, if there any issues with my engine, I will expect you to pay for that as well. read more

After 5 days in the shop they did not call once to communicate that they did not have the tools to accomplish the task requested for replacing a belt. Now 5 days later I have to pick up the car and it does not work. Beyond incompetence Dijon was rude suggesting I write as bad a review as possible. No interest in any form of customer service. I went here to get brakes done and an oil change they quoted over the phone and i came in to get the work done. The tech over charged me $50. They then agreed and gave me a business card with a signature and a $50 credit. Fast forward to today and the manager wouldn't accept it. Manager says i got the discount. Why would i have a card from them for a $50 discount if they gave it to me already? The guy acted like he didn't believe me. I went to another place to get the work done. Don't go here, they are untrustworthy. There are plenty of other shops in the area that can quote and charge you the correct amount. I took my truck there for an oil change, and they could not get the drain plug out. I understand that sometimes those can strip. May not have been their fault. But they essentially destroyed it trying to get it out, and then gave it back to me and basically told me it was my problem. They said the only possible way to deal with it was to get an entirely new oil pan. Anyway, I bought a replacement drain plug, and used an extractor bit for my drill that I got from Home Depot for less than $10, and got it out myself and then put the new drain plug in and changed my own oil. It really blows my mind that they didn't know how to remove a bolt that was stripped. I give them points for trying, but these are not experts by any means. read more

I don't normally leave yelp reviews, especially not bad ones, but I want to warn people about getting their cars worked on here. I had a squeaky loose belt, which they kindly fixed quickly and free of charge. 5 minutes after getting my car back, my steering locks up and my brake light comes on. I immediately pull over to the side of the road and take it to the nearest auto shop. The shop mechanic opens up the hood with me right there and, lo and behold, my alternator belt is completely snapped in half. When I get my car back an hour later, they tell me the snap was caused by the belt being waaaay overtightened. If you need anything more than an oil change done, go to Scott's Auto Repair down the street. They so kindly fixed my car up after Midas messed it up. Taking my car to Midas was a $90 mistake I won't make again. read more

The location has just recently changed ownership, and when I went to have my brakes serviced, they not only found big problems due to the last mechanics with the prior ownership, they fixed everything and more! They even took me home instead of having to wait! And the waiting area has been cleaned up-truly thinking of their customers at all aspects. I can't express how humbled I am at these men! About a year ago the front tire on my grandson's radio flyer tricycle started to fall apart so when he peddled the front wheel, it went nowhere. I took the wheel to Midas in Lake Forest, they did a couple of tack welds on each side of the wheel and cleaned up like it was new, when I asked how much, no charge, just bring in your car or truck next time it needs works. Well around the holidays I brought my F150 to Tuttle Click for an oil change (my last pre-paid oil change) and they said I will be due for brakes on the next change. Just recently my warning light (Service Engine Soon) came on and off, then the other day just stayed on, just instead of bringing to Tuttle Click, I brought it to Midas. I told Marco that I needed brakes and to check the engine, and dropped off my truck after work on Tuesday, I wasn't expected the truck back until Saturday. On Thursday morning (10 AM), Marco called with my truck is ready. Wow, fast and inexpensive, and I know it was about half of what I would of paid at Tuttle Click, since I had similar service done a few years back. Hands down this is the worst auto mechanic place I've ever been to. My first visit here was good, with the shop manager changing the oil himself because nobody was around at lunch time. I was appreciative and I thought this was a good display of customer service. Unfortunately, he was no longer there on my second visit. On my second visit, I got my car back and immediately noticed oil on the door, on the steering wheel, on the push start button, on the gear stick, on the radio, basically any place a person would touch when driving the car. The mechanic had neglected to wear gloves, and in fact, didn't even bother wiping his hands. It's as if he purposely wanted to ruin the interior of my car. It wasn't oil smudges either, it was actual oil straight from the container. I immediately notified the manager, who then called the mechanic over. I asked the mechanic how he could not wipe his hands while changing the oil. He looked at me, raised both of this oil smudged hands, and said, "it's a busy shop bro" with a smile on his face. Well I guess all of the shops where I got oil changes before were not busy, because they somehow managed to wipe their hands. I got that oil change for free, but let me see. A $20 savings for a permanently ruined interior on a new SUV with 6,000 miles on it? I'll never ever go back here again. read more

I have been going to the Midas location at 22752 Centre Drive, Lake Forest, CA for the past 15 years getting minor service on several family owned cars. Midas has changed the manager several times at this location over this time period. The current manager has been there about two years. On my last visit I had the oil and oil filter changed on my Dodge Caravan that had less than 26000 miles. They also did the first tire rotation on a set of new tires that had only 7,000 miles on them. Problem #1) I returned the van two days later after I noticed that only the two tires on the driver side had been rotated. The manager challenged me on my observation and tried to dismiss it. After further discussion and pointing out the obvious difference in the tire wear it was indisputable what had occurred. The manager told me I would have to call in later in the week to make an appointment to leave the car. He did not have time to rotate the two tires that day. Problem #2) Before the van was scheduled for another oil change I noticed some leaking onto my carport driveway. I then took the van to a major auto repair shop. They discovered that the leak was from the oil filter. It had not been installed properly by Midas. The oil filter on this engine was located on the top of the engine and transmission. The filter was slowly leaking oil and running down all over the engine! The garage replaced the oil filter and cleaned up the top of the engine as best they could without pulling the engine and transmission. Unfortunately, the remaining oil residue on the transmission and lower engine that could not be easily removed continues to drip on the carport driveway. The engine and transmission will have to be pulled out of the van, steam cleaned and replaced. That is estimated to cost between $500 - $750. The manager was contacted about the oil leaking issue and what was discovered. He offered no assistance or concern over the problem. read more

My CTS developed a pulsation during braking. Since I had purchased brake pads and rotors from this location back in January I decided to take it in to see if they could resurface the Rotors. Macro greeted me and said no problem we will turn them for free. ( even though they only had a 90 warrantee). I am writing this review as a warning or caution to those who are considering taking their vehicle to this particular shop. I am a nearly 60 year old professional who has been a loyal customer of Midas for many years. I usually take my vehicle to the shop in Mission Viejo but for the past couple of years or so have been taking it to the Lake Forest location. In the past I have always dealt with the manager, Marcos, who was polite, professional and helpful. I wish he was still there. I recently had an issue with my taillight/blinker not working and I brought my vehicle to the Lake Forest Midas. I was told the electrical plate the bulbs plug into needed to be replaced, which seemed reasonable and the repair was made. Since that plate has been replaced by this shop, I have had to bring my vehicle back several times because the same taillight would stop working. I tried to explain to "Manny" that the problem is most likely a short or loose connection with the electrical plate they replaced. Manny could not have been any less interested in what I had to say, would talk over me and at one point told me they "don't do electrical", although their Whitepages advertisement states they do. The very next day, after one of my several trips back, my battery was completely drained. I tried to explain to Manny there must be a short or loose connection but again he just talked over me and dismissed anything I said. Manny told me I needed a new battery and $200.00 later sent me on my way. The SAME taillight went out again and again Manny was rude and not interested in helping me but said he would have his mechanic take a look. When I picked up my vehicle Manny was not around and the mechanic, who was actually nice and apologetic, told me no one ever told him about the electrical plate they had replaced, so he re-worked all the connections and sent me on my way. Long story short, taillight went out again and when I tap it with my hand, it goes back on, indicating a short or loose wire. I brought my vehicle back today and told Manny what was happening. Again, he could not have been any less professional or helpful and REFUSED to complete the repairs his shop initiated. I asked for the District Managers phone number and Manny told me he is the "Owner" and they would just have me call him anyway. I told Manny I would still like the number and he wrote down a number that actually connects to Equifax. Dishonest ? Disgruntled ? who knows ... hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else ... good luck. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Manager (won't mention his name) pretended to be my friend and give me great deals. Even took it as far as noticing my Christian sticker on the back and taking about his relationship with God. Told me my brakes and rotors needed to be redone. Pointed out a bunch of other things that needed to be fixed on my car that made it unsafe. Got me so anxious to think my car was unsafe for me and my kids...we even started looking for a new car. Took my car in for a second opinion and sure enough my car is not nearly in the shape he said AND my rotors can be resurfaced when he said they couldn't be. I feel so taken advantage of going in as a woman and him pretending to have my best interest at heart, especially after I told him I was wary of being scammed. I've been taking my cars there for years and have nothing but praise. Sean and Don are great to work with and they don't screw with you. One of their mechanics, Danny even helps explain issues in detail and shows you exactly what the issues are in detail so you know for sure you're not getting jerked around. I will admit they've had some unfortunate luck with turnover but I blame poor management at a higher level and lack of effective management training. Perhaps if the owner and corporate read enough of these, they will understand that mixed reviews mean inconsistent behaviors at the shop level, where customers are impacted first hand. I frankly enjoy going there and have had quality service over the last few years as well as those I've recommended. read more

I just had my factory tires replaced by these guys, and my rims were in great shape. They did a quick job so I am grateful of that, but I would have been happier waiting longer if they would have taken better care of my rims. After the job was done, all four rims show a significant amount of damage and scratches. Around the circumference as well as the spokes. They gave the car back to me with dirt all over the rims so I didn't notice until I cleaned my rims a couple weeks later, otherwise I definitely would have brought this up with the shop manager. read more
