This crew was awesome, came from the Torrance location and had an oil change, halfway down to Irvine started smelling oil called Midas, lake forest. They said bring it we will check it out. Found the problem, loose oil drain plug.. cleaned it out, tightened the plug and said have a nice day! No harm no foul.. read more

I was pretty frustrated with my overheating car when I called in, but Kent was very patient and professional and took the time to explain all the details of the repair to me. I was impressed with the attention and time spent on me as a customer, and I feel safe knowing that not only did the shop fix the issue I came in for - they checked over the related systems and made sure I was aware of repairs that would need to be addressed in the future. Thanks guys. read more

They made a huge life threatening mistake with a brake job. Owning a Business is very difficult. I understand the hardships and struggles that are faced when you are trying to succeed and make a living. The auto repair business is serious. You cannot hire careless, sloppy and inexperienced "mechanics". My family and I are not satisfied with the way they handled the situation. We will not refer anyone nor will we give this place our money again. read more

I would expect good service and knowledgeable people at all Midas', but dont come in with this expectation with this Midas. I came in knowing what I need, but they wanted to do a $103 diagnostic to make sure which takes 3 hours. They wouldn't do what I needed until they did this diagnostic... rip off! They were very rude about it too... read more

After years of coming here, I am DONE. I brought my car in back in July for an oil change. It wasn't until I took it to a body shop for minor work after returning from a road trip to Las Vegas, that it was discovered that the oil cap it was laking oil like MAD, due to something with the oil cap not being put on correctly. This upset me a lot because I had just driven to and from Vegas (in 100 degree heat) on this!! Luckily, nothing bad happened!! I took it back to Midas and told them and they fixed it, statng the cap was defective or something like that. Fast forward to March, when it was time for another oil change(I bought life-time oil changes several years back, so I had to give them another try). My husband took it in and after they hard sold him on everything from belts to struts (they tried hard selling me on struts back in July, as well), he said just the oil change right now - we were not prepared to fork out $1000 on repairs!! They said they would rotate the tires too. When he brought it home, it was leaking oil like CRAZY and he had to take it back. Almost a half of his day was wasted on an oil change! We figured out, too, that it doesn't appear they did the tire rotation either (no one asked for the wheel lock key, so how could they have done it?). They should work less on the hard sell of the expensive items, like struts, and concentrate on doing good work. If a place cannot even do a decent oil change, WHY would I trust them to do the bigger jobs? read more

Brought my car here and the customer service is great ! I'll be bringing my car back. Ask for Art! He's the man

shop manager is a liar, do NOT take your car here. It was much better when Craig was the owner, I think things went down the hills.

Was a little worried when I read other reviews. However, I just found out this location has a new owner and under new management. Fantastic customer service so far. Joe and Terrie (front desk) were professional, fast and courteous. No high pressure sales tactics Tony (technician) even adjusted my power window at no charge. I made an appointment and they were on time. Prices were very reasonable and prices for tires were same as Walmart. I will definitely go there again. read more

I called this morning to make an appointment, and I was told that after 12 noon the schedule is pretty open, I took 1:00 PM. Went there sat there till 2:00 PM and I asked him how long will it take? I took my lunch time and need to go back to work. He said couple more hours!!! he is not sure!!!! SO WHY YOU ARE MAKING APPOINTMENT. You tell me what is his rate!!! They offered a life time oil change and I got it, not even used it more than 3-4 times. But they are trying to push you off and keep you on bench and scare you off the contract. Bad Customer Care... read more

WOW! When is the last time you heard a car repair shop tell you NOT to do brakes? That's what Greg, the owner of this Midas shop told me yesterday. He also took my new car for a test drive and said it was in good shape. he felt new tires were the answer, not brakes. the place I just bought the car paid for the tires, and Greg worked with them, so my out of pocket was only $100. When honesty and integrity have flown the coop at most car repair shops, I can tell you it landed and is alive and well at Midas Lake Forest with the owner Greg. Thanks Greg for your high integrity. read more

I took my daughter's car into Midas and spoke with Kenneth, who was very customer service oriented. He wanted to make sure that we were very happy with the service. He actually told me that we don't need to get the rear brakes done now but that we could wait a couple of months. I appreciate hearing that. I figured that since we were there we would go ahead and fix the brakes. The car was done earlier than was expected and he gave us the coupon and told us about a rebate. Much lower than we had expected. Excellent customer service. We will be back! Thanks Kenneth. read more

I showed up at 5:45 pm panicking because of a headlight that wasn't working. These guys were able to get the part and fix my car immediately. Great service every time I come here! read more

We have been a customer for over 3 years and this place has gone above and beyond. Always providing excellent customer service and working with us on our car issues. I definitely recommend it! read more

This is a bit delayed, but I wanted to write an update. After having a negative experience, Midas corporate contacted me very promptly apologizing for my experience (kudos to a solid department that keeps an eye out for negative interactions). They were able to work out a solution that I was happy with, and I was able to proceed with getting an oil change. Overall, this second experience has helped with gaining my trust back, and I will continue to come back to this location for future services on both of my vehicles. read more

Had a wonderful experience just this past weekend at this Midas. Sadly I do not remember the guy's name who helped me with everything, but he was awesome. From the moment I pulled up he quickly came out to diagnose my problem, which he was able to do within about a minute by just looking under my car. They did not even need to put it on a rack or charge me for a diagnoses. They accepted the repair job on a fairly busy Saturday, and had it done by early afternoon. And the best part was, the amount they ended up charging me was only half of what I was originally quoted. This right here put them into 5 star territory. I am so glad that in this day and age that there are some good, honest mechanics still out there. Especially for when a person is out of warranty with their dealer and have to turn to outside mechanics. Give these guys a try if you are nearby, I know I will be going back for any future problems I might have. Thanks Midas! read more

My car has had some issues since it turned 100,000 miles, I have taken it to this Midas shop several times and it hasn't been easy to fix this thing. I appreciate the effort that has been shown to fix my car. I will continue to use this shop for my repairs because of the concern shown to make sure I'm happy with their service. read more

This place is horrible. I will not be coming here again. Gave me quotes over the phone for my front brake pads, and once he got my car he said it was mandatory I had $1000 worth of work done. I decided to go elsewhere for the other work to be done. Once I got my car back, my back brake pads all of a sudden started to make noise. By the way there was no noise when I brought it in that morning. read more

I've been getting my car serviced here for 2 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. The owner Greg is super friendly, Kenneth is awesome and gives great explanations in case you're not sure about something, and the mechanic Danny is kind and very accommodating. Also, if there is a problem with your car they will show it to you and be very honest about how much longer you could go before getting the issue fixed. I love how quick and thorough their servicing is too! read more

Being new to the area I looked to Yelp for an honest referral. I went to Midas because of the location and the staff that were said to be easy to work with. Indeed Sean was friendly and easy to talk with. What I didn't like was the price. My Caravan had front right side noise that surely needed attention but what I got was a quote for all new pads and rotors (and something else I didn't understand) for $1,000. It seemed suspicious that Sean said he could do it for $900 if I did it tomorrow. I took it elsewhere without telling them anything about a prior estimate. They said there was nothing at all wrong with the rear breaks and did the fronts for $389. I've waited 2 weeks and 200 miles before writing this review and am very pleased that I went elsewhere. read more

I am new to owning my own car. After over 20 years of having a fleet car, this is my first experience getting one repaired and paying the bill. Kenneth at Midas was fantastic to work with. He took the time to explain what was wrong with my brakes, what the check engine light meant and what needed to be done. He called the dealership to determine that certain items were covered on warrantee, fixed the brakes, changed the oil and put in a new headlight. He then gave me a $50 coupon to use at check out. I was nervous going in as I know NOTHING about cars but left feeling confident that I not only received great service but a great price. read more

I had a coupon for $17.99 oil change and tire rotation. That is all I wanted and asked the Asst Manager Henry to do. While writing up the work order he said that synthetic oils and metal filters were more money. I responded that I wanted the materials on the coupon. He wrote the work order to include 5W20 oil and canister oil filter. Listed these items and the costs I thought were usually offset at final checkout with the coupon). I signed and the work was done. When it was time to checkout he took me to the car to point out leaking struts and a broken lug nut head. I refused the up-sell and said the car was 2 years old with only 30,000 miles and my mechanic son could do the work. I guess I torqued the Asst manager off with that refusal so sullenly he starts the writeup process and hands me a copy of the invoice for $27.32 (40% markup over the coupon price). I asked why the increase and he said I told you there was additional cost for synthetic oil and metal filter. I then said that I had expressly asked for the coupon materials and he said, no you signed the work order. I got angry and now Bryan (the manager) jumps in so I have two angry Midas employees telling me how I obviously didn't understand what I was told, indicated how stupid I was and they were not playing a bait and switch game. They stated emphatically that I was the only one who complains when finding out that they were charging more for oil and filter than what the coupon stated. I asked them to point out on the coupon where there was additional charge for oil and filter and they said the coupon mentions synthetic oil was additional. I reiterated my comment that when we wrote up the work order I expressly said I wanted the materials on the coupon used. More than a few moments of heated words ensued and I asked for Midas corporate's phone number and their two names and stated I was calling to complain. The Manager said fine but I wasn't using their phone. I pulled out my cell and he then said to get off their property because I wasn't calling from their property. Henry then put an invoice in front of me to sign for $646.48 after running my debit card for the work. When I pointed out that the Oil change and tire rotation was $27.32 he stated, oh, I gave you the wrong invoice, this is the estimate for the strut change work. At one point during the heated argument Henry offered to remove the $4.00 portion of my bill for the oil but Bryan overrode him and said that wasn't going to happen. Satisfaction Guaranteed?? Not even close!! We will always do right by you and your car?? Guess again!! Trust the Midas touch?? Never again!! read more

Greg (the owner) and Brian were great to work with. The quotes were very competitive and the work was excellent. Brian took the time to work with me in meeting my specific problems with my 20 year old car. I would highly recommend this shop to others. read more

I thought I would update this review. I received a call from their Corporate Customer service and then from the shop. The shop(new manager) asked to have me come back since the manager on duty has left the company. Since I have been going there over 5 years I decided to return. They commented and showed me some grease on the axle and told me there was a leak and it needed to be replaced. I did notice some grease underneath but to be honest didn't know from atom what it was related. (ie I am totally not mechanically inclined) I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They actually lowered the price from $1400 to $1000. I was really impressed and almost though to do it. I hesitated and figured I would bring it to another shop just to confirm. Brought it to another shop and they confirmed it was NOT a leak but just runoff or some other material from possible oil change but the rack pinion was fine. I asked for kicks how much it would cost if I did the repair there. They said $1000 approx. There was not a big saving. SO in the end I could have purchased a repair work that was overly priced in the beginning and then brought down to market. I was not too impressed with their customer service. They actually asked me if I had the reviews by the other technicians in writing. (By the way I do.) So in the end I can say this. Midas told me I needed repair that TWO other mechanics said was not needed. I am sorry I went there for so long because I may have been over charged and had work done that was possibly not required. My suggestion is try another place for repair work....I will do the same. read more

I had replaced my Brake Pad with this shop a year back, within months i could hear like a noise every time I would hit the brakes, so i decide to take it to back to the shop , the manager at the store called me few hours later saying that brakes are worn off and have to be replaced , as the brake pad has a life time warranty ,i have to pay only for the labor which was around 200 dollars(also he never mention that the charges are only for replacing the front brakes) within couple of days i still got the braking sound so I had to take it back to the MIDAS shop , the manager after inspection is now telling me that the noise is from the rear brakes and will require additional 400$ to be fixed which includes the brakes and the labor charges , this pissed me off, is this guy is out here to rip you off , in the first place he should have checked all the brakes and given me a clear estimate on the cost to replace or fix them , I ended up taking my car to a different MIDAS shop to get it fixed read more

My family and I have been going to this same Midas for years. I've, personally been going to this Midas, exclusively, since I began driving 16 years and 5 cars ago. Every experience since day 1 has been memorable. Not just great service, but literally memorable experiences! From past employees to the present, they have gone above and beyond every single time and in truly remarkable, memorable ways. From this notable customer service to the skilled mechanics, I would highly recommend this store to all those in need of service to their vehicles. I have had brakes done here, oil changes, check engine light fix/reset, hoses and plugs replaced and radiator replaced. Every time the work was done right, no problems and with consideration and expertise. For my most recent visit, I wanted to thank the guys in the shop for taking my last minute walk in emergency with my brakes. Night and day difference! Thank you! And to Kenneth, you really went the above and beyond for me this visit, thank you and my mom thanks you too. To sum this experience up....wow, amazing! Job VERY well done. I'll keep coming back here. read more
