I brought my daughter's car in to repair/replace brakes, and to get an estimate on work that needs to be done. They took all the wheels off the car, - as expected, and then replaced brakes and rotors on the rear. Six days later, her front wheel falls off while she's driving home from school! We had the car towed back to Midas to repair the damage - and - guess what - they put on a front and say "it must be vandalism. Our guys don't make mistakes." The kid literally could have died from this error, and rather than make it right, which is all we asked for -they blame non-existent vandals. Probably will not go back Detail: I've brought a few cars here over the years and I've always felt like they've been honest with me. They repaired only what was needed without trying to sell me everything. So, when one of my cars needed exhaust work, I brought it in without hesitation. They called quickly with the estimate and told me it needed almost everything from the catalytic converter back and the repair would be $1400. Well, this seemed high but given my past experience of trust, I said to go ahead. They repaired the car quickly and no issues so far. I think the work was good quality. I went home and compared the price of the parts they charged me for and they were 2 to 3 times what I could buy genuine OEM parts for (never mind the auto parts store parts they likely used). Anyway, I found out they were under new ownership and it appears the new strategy is to gouge customers. Hey, it's on me, I gave them approval to do the repair but I probably will not return. I went for an oil change and they did a great job also checking all my fluids and tire pressure as well as rotating all 4 tires. This was all for a great price compared to other places near by. The one thing I would've liked was if they put a sticker on the inside of my windshield saying when I was due for another one based on my cars mileage. I thought this was a common practice for all places regarding oil changes. Aside from that, the young lady in the office was extremely helpful and personable! I went in to get my front brakes done and an oil change I have a 2018 rave 4 picked up my car right at close of business day and my car died 15 times on way home then I drove back there Saturday morning. I was told oh the technician is an idiot he is having a hard time his son is on life support his daughter just got in an accident and the manager told me he wS at his sisters funeral .. the tech left oil cap off and out wrong filter in.. I have missed two days of work my car died in the middle of the road after they fixed it again with my twin 7 years olds inside. NeVEr go here. I have been treated awful... I have two BMW's that I brought in today, and I cannot recommend this place enough. John and Paul run the best managed shop I have been to in years. They and the staff are knowledgeable, professional, and honest. If you are looking for an alternative to dealership prices, I wholeheartedly recommend this Midas location for maintenance and repairs. What I especially appreciated is that when a repair was beyond their scope--because they didn't have all the information needed to assess the correct course of action--they directed me right back to the dealership, rather than suggest a slew of repairs in hopes that one of them would work. In a nutshell, they do not recommend unnecessary repairs to pad their bottom line. After spending over 30 minutes diagnosing one of my cars, they charged me nothing because it wasn't a repair they had enough information on to fix. I was so impressed with their honesty that I returned less than an hour later with my other BMW. The repair they recommended was reasonable, made sense, and their pricing was fair. Wow. A national chain. I can't believe I'm giving them five stars!! So, my story is: I brought in my 40yo Jeep for a quick fix so I could pass MA inspection and get back on the road. Paul, the head mechanic, looked at my Jeep and he sized me up, and he told me the Truth. He said, "yes, I could charge you $300 and get you on the road today, but here's your problem. You'll be back here with bigger problems in a few weeks." He showed me what the big problem was, told me where to get the parts cheap, and said he'd install them at the flat rate. After six years of mucking around with compression and timing issues, and countless dollars thrown away, I figured, "what have I to lose?" Wow, he did exactly what he said he would. The price was totally fair, and it runs (and sounds) better than it ever did. Paul is a mechanical genius and a nice guy. The kind of guy who seems incapable of distorting the truth, regardless of what's going on. The kind of guy you want to give you sound advice. Might not be what you *want* to hear, but you know you are getting a dead-on, solid analysis. John runs a tight ship. He does a great job of managing schedules, expectations, of being fair, and being helpful. They make a great team. I can't imagine dealing with the public and, at the same time, maintaining such a high level of professionalism, level-headedness, and a sense of humor. Obviously, these are people who love what they do and are GREAT at it. Again, would you really expect this from a national chain? Live and learn. You will not find a more professional, competent, honest garage than Midas! Their manager/lead mechanic, Paul is "one in a million"! I hit the side of my garage and the cover of the passenger-side mirror came off. One clip was missing and another was bent. The Subaru dealership stated that I needed the entire mirror replaced at an exorbitant cost. Luckily, I thought of calling Paul. I always used them in the past with my older Subaru, but because I had just bought a new Subaru I thought it would be best to go to the dealer with my brand new vehicle. I called Paul from the Subaru garage. Even though he was very busy, he said I could drop by that same day and he would look at the damage. He immediately figured out that the one clip needed straightening and the cover fit back immediately and securely. He saved me hundreds of dollars! I could hardly believe it. Plus he would not charge me a single penny for doing this, saying it only took a few minutes! If this hadn't work he had alternatives like ordering the cover part only or using special glue. I will definetly be using his services going forward! I learned that even if you have a new car, you do not need to get your services at their dealership! I have used this Midas garage for 5 to 6 years now and the level of service and quality of work, as well as the promptness of service has always been outstanding, Thank you so much, Paul! I was in a real pinch last Friday. My Toyota Sequoia had an O2 sensor damage the exhaust manifold. We were hosting a family reunion and needed the Sequoia to get family to the off-road beach for the event. I stopped in thinking the worse or at least having to wait days for an expensive part repair. Took my SUV here for a tire rotation, I dealt with Paul. I can agree with the other reviewer who can't believe there are still exceptional franchise locations left here in the states. Aside from the Midas sign, the whole experience was that of a family run tight knit well oiled machine. (no ego and brovado here) Every other person who came in Paul knew by name, which says two things: one that they care, second that locals have voted to keep this place alive for continued excellent service. I have an ongoing wheel bearing issue which rumbles from the front, the mechanic and Paul were able to process eliminate and honestly told me they didn't know which side it may be coming from, one reason being that my vehicle is AWD for the wheel spin test, the other that there was no play in the rotor. Long story long, they provided complimentary diagnosis which I could have done myself but I wanted the official word of a professional and they helped without flinching. Also, they took out a staple in my tire and could have easily lied and told me I needed a plug for $29.99 but they didn't. (even thoroughly chalked the area so I would know exaclty where if I had trouble down the road) I will be booking here in the future for any issues that may arise with my vehicle. Mistakes by a mechanic can cost your loved ones life's and yours. Picking a mechanic is like picking a doctor. Problems with Midas. Wrong tire pressures. Wrong size windshield wipers. Misdiagnosed brake problem. Misdiagnosed coolant and engine problem. Break down of work they provided TWICE. I explained the problems at the desk, then had to repeat it to Paul. The items that were "fixed", needed to be redone not even two months later because it was not done correctly. I ended up having to call the complaint hotline. Have to give these guys props. I dropped by the other night and really needed an oil change. They were getting ready to close up but one of the techs did the oil change anyway which I really appreciated. They let me know about a legit safety issue with one of my tires which no other drop-in place I've been to has commented on before, and they got me started in the oil change club which gives you $25.00 off on your sixth oil change. I brought my car to a Midas in California in 2011. They told me two of my O2 sensors were bad and would change them. We had them fixed and drove to Washington D.C The check engine light came on within a month of moving there, so we took it to a Ford Dealership who informed us "they just cut you wires so we'd think it was fixed. I was going to sue but lost the paperwork in the move. I haven't been back since till today because my daughter paid for my oil change(2017). I have been waiting an hour and a half for an oil change. No apologies when I asked how much longer and said " it shouldn't take more than 30 mins for an oil change. Never mind 5 people came in after me and left before. On 07/09/2020 Thursday morning I brought my 2005 Toyota Tundra in for a simple emergency brake job . I then got it back at the end of the day when Paul Rose The shop manager called me to let me know my truck was done. I called an Uber and made my way straight to Pick up my truck at Midas in Hyannis . Paul said it was test driven and was good to go so I paid him with credit card and left.I then made some stops before going home to the mills and decided to test the ebrake that's when everything started to go down hill. My truck started shaking every time I stepped on the brakes by the time I got home an hour later my rear brakes were burning and making a spinning noise as I was driving down the road .I then called butlers towing on 07/10/2020 to tow my truck back first thing in the morning because Midas was closed when I got home . I was afraid of driving my truck with burning smells and shaking so bad I thought I would ruin something on my truck.I then called Paul Rose the shop manager to let him know my truck would be arriving back there because the job was not done right the first time .He told me he would fix it . At the end of the day he called me to say your truck is fixed come pick it up . I made it half way home and the truck started to violently shake every time I would use my brakes.I made it home then I called Paul for him to tell me he couldn't fix my truck until the following Wednesday .I said why so long and he told me he didn't have the parts he needed and that he was short handed till Wednesday morning I could not believe what I was hearing ...that was 5 days away I couldn't use my truck.i brought it back Wednesday morning after Paul said it would be safe to drive.I arrived at Midas at 8am they put the truck on the lift at 8:08 and test drove it at 8:30 my truck came back ten minutes later gave me the keys and said I was good to go and he was right they finally fixed it in 15 minutes so why did I have to wait five days to get my truck fixed .....Midas had all day Friday to make my truck right and they didn't ....I hope the parts hold up because they are under warranty and I do not feel safe having Paul or any of his employees work on my truck so the warranty mean nothing to me. read more

He suggested that appointments were the way to go in the future ("good for the customer, good for the shop"), but was friendly and accommodating and got my car in the lineup, and my car was done in less then an hour. While I was waiting, I watched Paul interact with customers, the techs, and my fleet administrator. This place seems very well run and, if I were hiring for a similar operation, I'd offer Paul a management job in a split second! The price for the work was fair, they got it done in a reasonable amount of time, and the customer service is dead on- both the "sizzle", and the "steak"!
