I've been bringing my cars here for almost 15 years, and they've consistently impressed me with their quality work, honesty, and fair pricing. They've never tried to upsell me or suggest work that isn't truly needed. Recently I went in for an oil change and to have them check an engine noise. Instead of charging me, they explained that the noise was from a known issue on my vehicle and suggested I take it to the dealer, where it could likely be fixed for free. They also recommended that I hold off on the oil change since it could make the problem worse and it would get changed as part of that repair, so there was no point in me paying them to do it now. Had a flat tire on a thursdnight. AAA came out and put on my spare, but indicated that the flat could be fixed and put back on. I talked to 2 different managers, who were friendly and knowledgeable. Brought the tire in on a Saturday afternoon, got a call on Sunday afternoon that it was ready. Drove over, waited about 30 minutes (they were very busy) while they put on the fixed tire and packed my spare. Cost less than quoted, was quick and easy!! read more

We have probably spent over $ 20,000 here, they are way overpriced with every dollar we spent the next price was worse, almost like they were doing it on purpose, probably cause they were. I went in as they had an offer for a full synthetic oil change with tire rotation, and general check. They helped me get a few light bulbs replaced, though a few of the wiring harness sets were rusted and ned replacement as well as telling me why for the last 5 years something i thought was an oil leak was actually my rear brakes were leaking as well as brake calipers becoming stripped, aside from the fluid distribution problems, not brakelss yet, but close. Set an appt for Midas to fix as well. They also let me know about a fracture and leak in the flex pipe going to the catalytic converter allowing exhaust to come thru cars air system, but not an emergencies. They where friendly, kept a conversation going with me as it was a slow day, even traded Thanksgiving recipes before i left. I found my new regular garage. read more

My car needed a costly repair that I wasn't expecting. I went to Midas and had an amazing experience. They were in contact every step of the way while the repair was being completed. They provided the information I needed to make the best decision, as well as their own advice for the situation that I was grateful to hear. I just went back for a follow up for my vehicle to make sure everything looked good after the engine replacement, and everything looks fantastic! The work completed and customer service was amazing for every step of the way. When I had questions, they were always happy to help answer them. When my engine light came up, I immediately went to Midas for assistance and they looked at it right away. The engine light was due to old gas sitting in my car, it didn't have anything to do with the great work completed by Midas, but they told me how to prevent it from happening again. After moving to Hopkins I went to Midas for a front end alignment. They called to say they couldn't do it because I need new wheel bearings on my passenger side wheel. The estimate to do the work was $371.17. I did not get the work done. I went to another auto repair facility in my old neighborhood. They agreed I needed new wheel bearings. They replaced the wheel bearings in about an hour for a grand total for parts and labor of $112.14. Wow! What a rip off joint this place is. I guess I will continue to look for an honest mechanic in Hopkins or continue driving back to AutoMax in Columbia Heights. p.s. the other repair shop said that you can do an alignment regardless the condition of the wheel bearings. read more

Attempted to get a couple oil changes done here. Attempted being the key word. The first time I went, they completed it but my car sat right outside the bay for nearly 20 minutes while the guy running the desk argued with a woman about her warrantee. Not his fault but he certainly could have gotten someone else to come take care of me while he had to keep dealing with her. The second attempt was just a couple weeks ago, and I had called earlier in the week asking for a 4 pm appointment. Chris, the manager, told me I was all set. So, the day rolls around and I pull up at 3:55 and go in. There is a couple ahead of me, and once he was finished with them, Chris asks how he can help me. I told him I have an appointment for my oil change & he said that's not possible, these guys were his 4 pm appointment. I told him I called earlier in the week & spoke to him and he specifically confirmed me for 4. He then looks at my car & says oh, you were at 1:30. I told him that would've never been something I scheduled since I work until 3:30. He said well, sorry but I can't do it now because I have no guys. Can you come back another day? So their issue with scheduling suddenly became my problem. Nah man, I'm over this place. I'll get my oil changes done elsewhere from now on. read more

Came in for my 2pm oil change, was greeted right away & my car was taken back as soon as i was checked in, it took less than 30 minutes! Poor customer service. I stood at the desk for several minutes...two employees come and go, completely ignoring me. Finally I sat down until someone appeared... a couple more minutes past until another customer came in, and 'ding' (it dinged when I came in too), and suddenly someone emerges from the back! But instead of acknowledging me and realizing that he must not have heard me come in (and putting 1 and 1 together), he proceeded to help her... I walked out. Just moved from out of state had received a free oil change thought that was super awesome. My boyfriend called to make an appointment however they said they were slow and no need to make one however when I got there they said it was a 3 hour wait, for an oil change? The Asian guy was super rude and not willing to help due to there human error. My boyfriend was at another location for his oil change same time I was supposed to do mine and they offered to do mine with there coupon from Midas highly recommend going to Youngstedts Hopkins Goodyear instead because they know how good customer service should be run and earned a customer for life due to this accommodation. read more

Don't go to this place. I got my brakes changed here twice. they put cheap pads and calipers on so that they wear out quickly. I also paid 1200 to fix my AC and they didn't fix it. After they didn't fix it they charged another 100 to "diagnose". I took it to another mechanic and he said didn't they have a computer? read more

On a road trip from Chicago, The AC on my 2005 Subaru Forrester stopped working.. Brought the car in. Was promptly greeted and told them my situation. The attendant said it was most likely needed a recharge of freon which would run $150-$200. They took a look right away and found it was only an issue with a shredded ac belt and they would replace the belt and see if it still needed recharging. Turned out the ac was low and could use a charge, but would last me most likely through the end of summer. I decided to forgo that extra, extra unexpected expense. They also showed me another belt that was worn and recommeneded be replaced, which they would do without charging me any additional labor. I appreciated their being upfront about the situation. I was extremely pleased this past week after taking my car into Midas on Excelsior Blvd. The staff was friendly and inviting as I stayed for my oil change in the waiting room. The manager came out with a tire and physically explained to me what was wrong with my car. He suggested getting my tires balanced because I expressed how I experienced shaking on the road after reaching 50 mph. Other auto shops could not come up with a solution and usually scuffed it off. After my visit with oil change and balancing of my tire, I noticed a complete difference in my cars riding abilities. I can now go over 50 mph without the shaking and hassle of the clicking I was hearing under my wheel which they fixed for me too. I cannot thank Midas enough for that simple change that made such an incredible difference. Awesome customer service! Very knowledgeable staff. My car wasn't running quite right and making strange sounds turning. Took it in there for them to check out and they figured it out right away, it was the alternator. Chris, the manager, was able to get a part really fast and it was fixed really quick. Wow. I never write reviews but I absolutely HAVE to for this location. First off the manager there, Chris, is the most unprofessional manager I have seen out of the 4 locations I have been to. Also, they clearly put a dent in my car while doing an oil change (No clue how?) and denied they did it! They get you in by giving you an estimate then they end up charging you twice the price "because it took longer than expected". If you are in Hopkins looking for a body shop - RUN FAR AWAY. The mechanics are good but you have to watch their billing. I highly recommend getting price comparison from other shops before you take the managers word. If you decide to leave your vehicle there, have them print a quote/estimate before they start the work. And find out if there are any other fees that they "assume" all customers know about. If you approve, make sure you let the manager know the total on the estimate is what you expect to pay when you pick up your vehicle. Just so you wont have any $200+ surprises. read more

Manager Chris and the crew are friendly, efficient, fast and always honest with me. I thought I needed to have my power steering fluid flushed and they informed me that I did not. They could have done the work and pocketed the money, but instead they were honest and saved me money. They never try and talk me into having unnecessary work done. I never have to wait and the work is always done as quickly as possible. They tell me how long something will take and that's how long it takes. I have recommended them to numerous friends, especially my girlfriends that know nothing about cars. The level of trust is that high! read more

This place tries to sell you services you don't need. Poor customer service. Went in for an inspection at Midas. Had a different local muffler shop inspect/fix a break in the exhaust 24 hour prior to the Midas inspection where they told me that although the flex pipe doesn't have leaks the mesh on the outside was missing but it should pass since its performance was not hindered. Went to Midas since they are "certified" to inspect thinking I would pass. Was told it should take 30 minutes. I came back hour and a half later (no phone call at this point) my car is still on the lift. "The flex pipe and the wheels failed. $450 for the flex pipe." I asked them what was wrong with it and got a generic answer. And then they told me if I get my flex pipe fixed there they'll overlook that the paint on the wheels was peeling. That response told me that they were just trying to make money since Midas is a muffler shop and not a wheel shop. Called the small local muffler shop and got a quote for $150-$350 depending on if they have to take the exhaust off. I'll take my car somewhere else for inspections from now on. Don't need your "deals". read more

Chris, Tommy & Team are competent and trustworthy. They have out diagnosed quirky issues that dealer service departments couldn't or wouldn't take the time to do. Their prices and warranties can't be beat by service departments either! Midas Hopkins handles all my regular maintenance intervals and they respect my time providing updates throughout the duration they have your vehicle. I don't hesitate referring the Hopkins shop to anyone looking for a talented garage. These folks are honest and explain what / why something needs to be done. I agree with Patrick...poor customer service. I went in with a few problems and ended up spending a few hundred dollars shy of $1000. A few days later I noticed that two of the lights that I was charged to be fixed were not working. I brought the car back a week later to get this fixed or a refund and they stated that it would take 20 minutes to replace the two lights. When I decided it was ridiculous to wait that long to fix something that should have been done the week before I asked for a refund and the guy wanted to give me store credit. I will never go back to this Midas store! I went home and my boyfriend brought the car back up there and got it fixed within 5 minutes. They offered a free oil change but I would rather pay someone else to do this than to give them any more business that they can't handle. I just wanted an oil change! I got about 1 1/2 miles from Midas and my car stalled out and would not start. I called and the Manager, Chris, told me he thought it was his fault, something to do with my battery?? Had the car towed back to Midas and they "found" that my fuel pump had gone bad. Coincidence? Agreed to get that fixed and when I picked it up, they again said something about the battery? I go to Sam's Club for tires and batteries, I had just been there the previous week for a rotation and balance, they said nothing about my battery. Left Midas and went home. The next morning my car would not start, had to get a jump and drive 10 miles to nearest Sam's Club that had my battery in stock. Replaced battery and went to fill gas tank. Found that the gas was pouring out of the tank as fast as I could pump it! My daughter was in that car!! Another tow and 5 days later they fixed it but argued with me on what they were and were not going to reimburse me for. They put us in grave danger, this was not an oops! If you value your car, do not go here. You will come out with more problems than what you went in with. I went the other day for a simple oil change and rotation. 45 minutes later, the customer service rep comes out and tells me my coolant system has a leak. I've never noticed any leaks, and I check all of my fluids weekly so this surprised me. He asked me how many times my car had overheated and I replied none, to which he responded "hm." and told me they would charge a simple $30 diagnostic fee. I declined, because from what I knew of my car there were no leaks and no issues. My car practically purred. On my way home from work later that night, my car overheated! The engine temperature had never risen past the 50% mark, so I was shocked. After it sputtered and died, I pulled over and examined my engine. My coolant levels were completely drained. No wonder it overheated! I went to a mechanic and he told me one of my tubes had been cut. Safe to say I will never set foot in this place again, and I highly advise anyone else to do the same. read more
