I went here to get an oil change. The wait was more than an hour. The cashier/mechanic didn't even tell me that the oil change was already done. So pretty much, I waited for more than an hour for nothing. The next day, my car started making this very loud noise. I called a family member who's very knowledgeable about cars and he determined that it's an idler problem. I don't believe that it was a coincidence that all of a sudden there was this problem because the car was running perfectly before they did the oil change. I came in the next day, I asked the owner what's wrong with my car. They told me it was in fact an idler problem and the owner gave me a quote of roughly $1,000.00 to fix the problem. Mind you, my car is older and its worth about $2K. I very much regret coming to this place. I can only describe my experience as truly and utterly horrible!!!! read more

This place is horrible! I will never go to this place again! They are liars and procrastinators! And they go through your things! So I went there due to a burning smell in my car and needed a coolant flush. So they told me it was my thermostat and my coolant and engine works together. So they said they were charging for a coolant flush, DX, and thermostat for 275. I said OK. So before all this. I called to see if I can come drop my car off and if they had time and he said yes. So comes to find out they didn't look at my car until the next day b/c they were busy which is why I called in the first place! Then they said my car would b done by 3pm and they called me around 530pm saying my car was finished. So I get there and I had to wait and extra 30 minutes b/c they took it for a test drive and still had to rotate my tires. When my car was finished I paid and the guy asks me if I had 2 12s in my trunk for my system and I said yes. I didn't realize until after I left that how would he have known that unless they went in my trunk and touched my things! You don't need to go inside a trunk to fix a dam thermostat! And I seen my belongings moved as well which pissed me off. I have OCD SO I KNO WHEN SOMEINE TOUCHES SOMETHING OF MINE AND MOVES IT. ANYWAYS. I GO TO MY FRIENDS CHEVEROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE BURNING SMELL WAS COMING FROM A PLASTIC THAT WAS CAUGHT AROUND MY EXHAUST! SO THOSE EVIL MIDAS CROOKS LIED AND TOOK ME FOR GRANTED! Sorry for the late review, Had an oil change and tire rotation 2 months ago and it was definitely NOT WORTH IT ! Aside from the poor customer service and long wait times, they forgot the MOST IMPORTANT PART ! they forgot to LOCK ONE OF MY TIRES !! I was on my way to the freeway when my rear left tire came flying off ! thank god I was able to pullover on the side and avoiding more damage to my car. They agreed to pay for all the repairs, but they wouldn't pay for the car rental which they're supposed to. But instead they want me to drive their busted old Mazda loaner which was parked in the back. Owner was kind enough to lend me his for a couple of days. The worst thing is that my uncle dropped by a few weeks ago and the guys who was working on my car is still there. Just be careful guys have your wheel locks checked. Went if for brake inspection because it has been awhile. After waiting around for an hour they told me that I needed to replace all the pads, front rotors, and front calipers. They even "recommended" I replace my rear drums. According to them my pads were worn out, my rotors were below the safe limits for thickness and had cracks in them, and my calipers stick and leaking. All said and done they quoted me almost $1500. I had them put everything back together and I went to get a second opinion. I went to Allways Auto and from what they told me, none of that was true. My front pads had more than 50% life left and my rear pads were closer to 80%. My rear drums were fine and the mechanic did find 1 small hair line crack in one of my front rotors. Also my calipers were just fine. He told me that the crack was a heat crack and that we will check it down the road but it would be fine. Midas will try and scare you into paying for things you really don't need. They are more concerned with racking up the charges then being completely honest with their customers. I have been there a couple of times over the past few years and always felt pressure into replacing more than I needed to. Now that I have confirmed with a second mechanic about their scare tactics, I will not be going back. read more

4 hours for an oil change, tire rotation and minor tire repair. This is by far the slowest Midas I have ever been to. I left and came back because it was taking so long. My vehicle was up in the air and the employees were sitting around doing NOTHING. it wasnt until I came back in when they began to work again. This place USE to be good. Asked how long the wait would be..was told an hour and a half for oil change and alignment. My car got brought in after an hour. Left to grab some take out lunch, returned to eat it in their waiting room. 5 minutes later, I see my car being parked. Owner says the car is ready. I say, "really? You did an oil change AND alignment in a half hour?" Owner says,"oh yeah,....no, yours isn't ready yet". He looks at my tires, tells me my left front tire is getting worn .. I ask if the tires were rotated, because it's part of their 17 point check. He tells me you have to request the rotation, it's not automatically done. Bad answer. I wait another 10 minutes as I watch my car sitting in the parking lot. Couldn't wait any longer, so I told him to just charge me for the oil change. He apologized for the wait, and gives me my keys. I get in my car, which should have had the floor boards vacuumed. Surprise! No vacuum! Owner comes out to move the car parked next to mine. I ask if vacuuming had to be requested like the tire rotation. He says they do that automatically. I open my car door to show nothing was vacuumed. He tries to tell me it was. I show him again...He apologizes, and says he can do it right now. I told him it was okay,..and that he took enough of my time already. He attempts to offer again...as I pull away, I tell him he may want to check up on his employees to make sure they're doing their job. So sad...this place use to be really good. Should have gone to big o tires in the first place...same price for alignment, and Guido and the boys here are great! read more

Twice now I have had horrible service from this location and likely will never go back. Had an oil change done here only to notice the level of my oil extremely low which could have damaged my vehicles engine. In addition, there was a young technician who left grease marks in my vehicle. Unfortunately there are only + ratings offered on here otherwise I'd give the the lowest -(negative) rating offered. The reason of this star is because I cannot give no star. WORST SHOP EVER!!! so many people warned me about how bad midas are, and I should've listen... I asked them to replace my starter, which cost me $345 with tax, the problem is that when I picked up my car, the gear will not shift, and the transmission had weird sound. I went back to Midas right away and they said it wasnt there problem (they didnt even take a look) They said the gear may be the potential problem of my car that already exist. So i brought my car to another shop, it only took the technician 2 minutes to find out that my starter had no bolts, not brackets. guessed midas forgot about those, and since I drove my car home the night before from midas, the technician told me that I may already damaged my transmission. and the transmission may seems ok right now, but may fail in near future. then that will be the $3000 repair. the case was filed against Midas in BAR and also informed the attorney already. NEVER have your car in those chain stores, they are bad and unskillful. really. read more

4045 Thornton Midas is by far the worst customer service, the technicians don't know what they are doing. The owner doesn't know what he's doing or how to run his business. Very unprofessional told his employee to tell me he wasn't there because he didn't want to talk to me even though he was there. I brought my car there 3 times they did a diagnostic the first time and told me it was my alternator paid $500 to fix that. 2 weeks later same problem occurs and he says it's my MIC unit control and charged me $1400 2 weeks later same problem so I bring it back.He takes my car a total of 3 weeks didn't fix my problem and then when I go to pick it up again my radio stops working and tells me it was "not working upon arrival" and don't screw down my speakers in my trunk after they took it apart. Absolutely ridiculous!! DONT EVER GO HERE FOR WORK ON YOUR CAR!!!!! Car still isn't fixed and refused to give me my money back! Had to make multiple calls to corporate customer service to try to retrieve my money back. read more

I made an appointment for a oil change and a tire rotation. They said it would take an hour. I got there 10 min early. It took them almost two hours from the start of my appointment because they didn't have a bay ready for me (I guess they do not know what an appointment is). Then they give me back my car and i walk around it and notice my tiers were not rotated. I walk back in and he gives me some bs excuse that he didn't know if I had time for it. Yes I paid for it I asked you to do it and then then don't even ask me if I still want the rotation they just didn't do it. So never leave your car there and always watch what they do. read more

I had went into the Fremont location (Thornton Ave) to get a diagnostic check for codes due to my emission light was on. Their employee Al had given me an estimate of what it would cost to have issue with vehicle fixed. When I questioned the $80 cost of a part that sells for $30-$40 in a parts store and the $94 cost of another part which sells for $25 in parts store, he immediately had a major attitude towards me, crumpled up the estimate & diagnostic code paper and thru it in the trash. I had asked if I can have those papers back, he would only give me the diagnostic paper. People like that SHOULD NOT be employed. And furthermore, Midas SHOULD NOT be charging customers double the price or more of parts; you are ripping off the people by trying to make a profit. Its bad enough we have to pay $120 for labor. With that said, Midas needs to can his BUTT, poor representation/customer service. I will never go to a Midas facility again. MIDAS RIPS OFF THE CONSUMERS!! read more

TRAGIC SERVICE!!! My girlfriend and I took her car in for a squeal in the rear brake system at 9a.m. Later the manager called and told her that the car needed a complete brake job. No problem she told them to do the work. At about 3p.m. he called and told her it was finished. She and I drove there, paid the 500 dollars and drove out of the parking lot. She pulled into her apartment driveway and told me it wasnt right,would I test drive it. I did and the brake pedal went to the floor. We took it back and the manager took it into the shop.After an hour wait he said it was fixed,but couldnt tell me the problem. So again, I took it for a drive and as soon as I got it into the strret, the brake pedal hit the floor. I took it back,told him it wasnt right,yelled at him and told him to fix it correctly. So he told me to wait until the next day. I wasnt happy that midas..danny, jay patel and the rest of the shadetree mechanics there could send customers into the strret with a car that had no brakes, after giving them 500 dollars for a brake job. Luckily noone got killed, but they did tell my girlfriend that she would get a free oil change.YEAH RIGHT I am going to let them touch her car again!! They did finally fix it two days later,but NEVER coudl tell us what they did wrong. Just a lesson for me to never go there again. They were suppose to rotate my tires but I think they didin't. They were suppose to vaccum front and back, they didn't. They were suppose to clean the windows, they didn't. They said my tranmission gasket was leaking "BADLY." I okayed a repair. When my BF got home he asked if I looked at the driveway for leak spots. I hadn't. How can a tranmission gasket be leaking "BADLY" if there aren't any leak spots? I had a trust issue with them 30 years ago and vowed never to go back. I am certainly keeping this vow now! My bf had been there the previous month. His car windows weren't washed nor floors vacuumed. FYI, I came in at 9:30am Sunday morning. The truck wasn't finished until 5:30PM. Highway robbery that's the Midas touch in this location! They quoted me $400 for brakes on the phone, I took my car in, they opened it up and gave me a $790.00 cost of brake job! I said no thanks, they decided they can give me a better deal for $690! I knew I'm dealing with crooks, so it was a no go. Got my car back, took it to Performance Auto Zone in Fremont (great people) got a quote of $530, but guess what? Midas people had decided to teach me a lesson by taking the leather case that had all the special bolts and lug key! When I went back to Midas the mechanic "remembered handing me the lug key!" Never again, Took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation. had the coupon. When I picked up the truck the tires had not been rotated. No mention until I got home and saw what had not been done. I called and was informed one of the tires had outside wear. The other 3 were fine. First off great customer service and honest form the get go. I was in need of an oil change. Went to oil changers 3000 place was deserted. I asked the guy how much he looked at my Honda and said about $60.00. Seemed a bit much so right across the street was a Midas/Speedee. A quick U-turn away. NICE! Walked in, lady behind the counter was helping someone, she glanced up and said she would be right with me. When ready she smiled and said what can we do for you. I asked how much the oil changers were. She asked what type of car and year, then explained the prices. And without even asking she mentioned that they had an inshop $10.00 coupon that she could apply, plus free tire rotation. NICE!, then the phone rang and she politely asked them to please hold as she was helping a customer (me). NICE!. So she explained that they had a couple of people ahead of me and short handed. It would be a bit of a wait. No problem pizza parlor across the way. She then handed me a sheet of paper that explained what services may be needed at 75000 miles. A bit later I asked her (Dotti) if they did timing belts there and if so how much. I had paid arm and leg for my Toyota. She said yes and said she would look it up and give me a written estimate. NICE. Then she told me that my car has a chain and no belt needed. Nice! Upon my return she showed me a couple of very dirty filters which they changed no charge for labor. NiCE!. I was then introduced to the new owner (Eddie). I felt very much relieved that they seemed to care about my car and me. I will be back. read more

Long waiting time, incompetent service. If your experience is like mine, you are in for an "ordeal" when you come to this place. I came in -- with an appointment -- for an oil change and tire rotation. After 1 hour the front desk guy, a tattooed guy named Josh, says "OK your car is ready." But at my car I saw they had not rotated the tires. Josh said "Oh sorry, the lift was not available and they put it in the wrong bay -- we'll do it now." After another 30 minutes, Josh says "Your car is ready". But at my car I saw that they had failed to cross-rotate the tires, they only did front-to-back. My owner's manual specifically calls for cross-rotation. Josh said "Oh sorry, there is a new guy back there and he did not know about cross-rotation -- we'll do it now". Waited another 30 minutes, and finally the job was done properly. So it was a two-hour ordeal, with two separate points of quality/service failure. read more

Save yourself the weekend afternoon and avoid this place. Yesterday I went in for a free brake inspection because my rear breaks were making noises. I talked directly with the manager. He was personable initially, up until I signed on the dotted line accepting the inspection. I was originally promised completion in "an hour". After 45 minutes, my car hasn't moved from the parking lot. Thinking that I didn't want to waste any more time I attempted to leave, but was stopped by the manager who specially asked me to come outside. He then pointed to a suburban and said "You see that suburban? It's done and its coming out right now and yours is up next." I said OK, and went back into the waiting room; while the manager left to apparently go to pick up parts. Fast forward another 15 minutes, and my car is STILL in the same parking spot. I went to talk to one of the staff since the manager was no longer there. I explained my situation and they did apologize (blaming the manager), and then gave me another 1.5 to 2 hour ETA for the inspection. I, of course, decided to leave. Totally wasted my afternoon for...NOTHING. Only thing I can think of as a plus, there is water available in the waiting area. 0 stars. read more

I wrote a review before about how awesome the people here are. Well, that was before I met Al. Older white gentleman. I came it when shop opened and explained what I needed done/checked. He was incredibly short with me and honestly kinda rude. I tell him I want a certain oil used instead of what they did last time and he scoffed and said thy don't carry that type of oil. It's 10W30. That's a standard oil. Come on. Then I get told the "real mechanic" doesn't come in until 9. And hour and a half after shop opens. I tell him never mind on the other work cause I'm on a semi time limit and to just tighten my drive belt since it loosened up again. Takes my keys, does his thing. A guy walks in(I am a female) and all of a sudden he's cheerful, asking questions, just being engaged with the customer. Idk if it's because I'm a female or because I'm a cookie cutter picture of a lesbian, but this guy has officially made me not want to come here anymore which really sucks. I've gotten great service every single time till today. So if anyone has recommendations for a mechanic who doesn't treat their clients based on gender let me know. read more

This place is an absolute rip-off. went in recently and spoke with store manager Israr Refai and needed a 100k tune up on my ladies truck. i provided everything that needed service per owners manual. Made an appointment the following weekend at 10:30 am. come to find out when i arrived on a Sunday this place looked like a used car lot. super busy so i thought to myself i made an appointment so it shouldn't matter. The store manager had explained to me that it shouldn't take more than 4 hours( IT ended up take 8) When i arrived there was this young hindu kid who was totally worthless, couldn't even use a keyboard correctly. i was there for 45 minutes while he wrote up work order for his techs. This was supposed to be done the previous week when i spoke to the store manager. Make a long story short what Israr quoted me for and what i was charged was the kicker. Irsar had the nerve to tell me that 2 items per my owners manual that required service weren't even in my vehicle, BUT he still charged me. contacted dealership where car was purchased and provided them with my vin and they told me that's what you get, Midas evidently has a horrible reputation which i didn't know. Before i left i noticed on receipt. that these 2 items were never serviced but yet i was still charged. These people thought i was stupid, anytime i spend any amount of money I always check the receipt for this simple reason. Went back in following day to get my money back and took my business elsewhere. He even tried to low ball my refund when i spoke to him over the phone as a casual customer asking what they charge for these 2 services on my vehicle, this guy got caught 3 different ways. It's sick how certain people come over here and use our resources and literally steal people's hard earned money. this place should be shut down and god only knows what else goes on with any vehicle when serviced. for anyone who likes to get ripped off this is your place. hopefully this review will help future people from not taking ANY vehicle here. read more

I don't typically write reviews but feel very let down on the outcome of our vehicle. I've been coming to this Midas for oil changes for the last year and a half with several vehicles. My husband brought in our Ford Explorer because the sensor light was coming on and it was running rough. It's a 96. We had a free diagnosis on it to determine if we were going to invest anymore money in it because we knew it wasn't running well and didn't know what specifically was the problem. On the invoice it states check engine light midfire check and determine needed repairs. Their answer was all it needed was remove and replace fuel injector and oxygen sensor. That's it. $626.05 later. My husband drives the car off the lot to still have the light go on. We bring it back the next day after not driving it anywhere else and Midas says it's a transmission issue and it will be a couple grand later. Whattt! Al the manager said there was grand fluid overflowing. I asked him why that was not seen the first time. We wouldn't have put the money out initially. That's not what the code said. But you found that the second time in. In your diagnosis initially if the mechanic checked all the fluids and looked under the hood instead of plugging in and playing game boy with the machine, that would be visible wouldn't? Al said sometimes the sensor light would determine other problems but not in our case. I don't believe that nor will I go here again sad to say. read more

i went to this shop to get an oil change and tire rotation, they asked me to drop the car off to do the service as their was other customers ahead of me. so i dropped it off and about an hour later i recieved a call with an inspection of my car. i was not expecting to find that my brakes were low and that my filters were also bad. they checked those things as a courtesy! i dnt think any other place checked out my brakes and tested my battery and checked my brakes and rotated the tires.. so even though it took time i was satisfied to know the condition of my car!! even though i was not expecting to spend so much money, i ended up changing out the air filter my front brakes, as well as complete my oil change. prices were fair, and i had my car back on the road within about 3 hours. when i got back on the road i felt safe and confident about my car. This will be my regular place for maintaince. they always take care of me and they always have specials goin on. but drop the car off as they do take there time to do the job the right way !!! read more
