Went to Midas in Farmington CT in Nov 2025 for an appointment for emmisions inspection and and oil change on my 2013 vehicle that has only 21k miles. (PS oil is changed well before it is due). The emmisions was done in 10 minutes. The oil change took 1 1/2 hours. Reason? They did an inspection of my vehicle looking for things that needed repair. I did not ask for an inspection. They showed me a a write up saying the vehicle needed over $3k in repairs; tires, serpentine belt, front brakes, brake fluid flush, & wheel alignment. They warned me that the brakes were past due and the serpentine belt was cracked. Since the vehicle only had 21k miles I declined. I went to another garage to have it inspected. Lo and behold, it needed none of that. The only thing it needed was a brake light, which Midas missed in their 90 minute inspection. This would be funny if it was not attempted ripoff. I went in for a routine check as my TPMS light was on, came out with a quote for $4500 worth of work on my car. I was pretty shocked but Im not exactly a car guy so I didn't know how legitimate the stated issues were. One of these "helpful" gentleman let me know that he'd offer me 3 grand for the car if I was interested in selling since it was in such bad shape... i brought it to a different mechanic who just replaced one of the TPMS on a back tire. He went through midas's report item by item and explained how the car was in pretty good shape overall and that the "problems" identified were mostly nonsense. Ill be going back to that shop to repair my vehicle in a few days, and the price estimate is about $400. I knew something was up with this place when I got a lowball offer on my car immediately after they found $4500 in repair work. Avoid this place unless you want to be taken advantage of. I hate leaving bad reviews, but trying to flip a simple sensor replacement into work thats 10x the price is unethical. read more

Took my car in for brakes after receiving a very high quote from the dealership. I was greeted promptly and they were able to take my car back. The waiting area was clean and there are several benches outside to sit on. They did my repair in a reasonable amount of time for a lower cost. Win win!!! read more

Update with regards to my earlier review regarding my experience with Midas ( Farmington CT) . 1. I called Midas , Farmington and somebody lifted the call, listened to my issue for a couple of minutes and told me Mr. Greg would call in next 20 minutes. He never did and it has been 3 hrs 2. I called Midas consumer relations (8006218545) , who were very sympathetic (!) of my experience, apologized (!!) and gave me a case number. Fingers crossed 3. Got a automated mail from Maidas , Farmington thanking my visit and seeking my experience. I replied with my experience and requested the refund. Waiting. I don't really like to write negative reviews, everyone has a bad day. However, my experience with Farmington Midas location was not something i will remember fondly. Funny thing...after my visits, email would arrive from the owner, "If you have any issues at all with my shop, please email me at khchilds1@mw.twcbc.com. I promise you that we will do our best to make sure you are satisfied." Wondering if this enail address is con as well? Well, i have sent several responses...nothing. I would have been much happier to discuss my concerns with the owner than do it here. Having retired from working at Monroe, I took my vehicle to this place. Asked price on rear brake pads. Was told $200. but if rotors needed then $400. - $450. I told him to do the job. Watching the tech. doing the job I noticed that he did not coat the back of the pads with anything (supposed to use grease). So now the brakes occasionaly squeak. When he tightened up the lug nuts, no torque wrench was used, he just used his impact gun on them. The original pads had brake pad retraction springs to keep the pads off the new rotors when the brakes are not being applied. They used plain pads. When the job was done I was given a bill of $650. The supervisor that had taken the order and given me my quote had slipped away being replaced by a different person. So not only did I feel overcharged but I know the brake job was done improperly. read more

march 27,2021 Brought my car in for a Oil change around 2-3pm. Got it done and purchased 2 new tires. I had no problem. Then on Monday mornin around 5:30am i drove the car to work and not even half way the motor started to make some noise and not even 2 sec from the noise the motor blows so i put the car on neutral and let it roll off the highway to exit and was able to roll it to a gas station. Little bit of oil what on the floor so i waited from 5:30am all the way to 7:30am to contact midas and tell them wat has happened. i spoke to the manager runnin the shop and while im tryin to explain to him what has happened he comes out of nowhere yelling and just repeating himself sayin that not our fault and theres nothin they can do. while hes yellin so i said ok and hanged up. Never ever goin to that location very poor attitude on manager. So now i just spent $1500 on a new motor. Within 2 days of gettin my oil change thnk u so much for ya flaws read more

I had my front struts replaced here, and they didn't even put the car back together correctly, so much so that it caused damage later on. Having taken my car in for its regular services to Greg and team at Midas Farmington, I can vouch for the quality and cost effectiveness of any work needed. I appreciate Greg's honest assessments. This time I had a covering plate loose under the car that was making an awful racket every time I drove over a bump in the road. DO NOT fall for the positive reviews and contact me please! Midas dedicates much time and effort to scale ratings up. If the manager's name (Greg) is in the 1st two sentences, ignore it. It is statically impossible for this many random customers to mention the same person on one out of every two reviews. Just does not happen naturally. This is one of those shops that will hasten or cause a repair if you know what I mean. Please note that I do not state that lightly nor do I have proof. I do however have personal experience and I have observed that many others seem to as well. I am an automobile enthusiast. I have owned over twenty five different cars in my life. While I can't replace an engine, I can perform and understand mechanics and worked in a garage for a couple of years. In this case, I just didn't have the time or space to do it myself. I brought my car to Midas for an oil change in April. Shortly after I had an oil leak. I brought it back to be told I had a bad filter and they replaced it. Again I had an oil leak. Brought it back again to be told it was another bad filter. Again the filter was replaced and yet again I had another leak. After bringing it back a fourth time I was told it was my oil pressure sensor which they wanted to charge me $130 for. Instead, I took it to the dealer to be told it was not the filter or the sensor, it was a gasket. Had it fixed right away for $38 and hasn't leaked since. Will never return here. Update: Midas replies to my YELP review and asked me for more information. Never heard from them again. read more

My daughter brought her car in today for a battery check. The Manager was very unprofessional loudly screaming and irate. Initially he advised that the diagnostic check would not be charged if it verified that a battery is needed, and we purchased the battery there. Upon receiving the bill after the battery installation, the diagnostic charge was still there. The manager became irate and was screaming when we advised that he told us the price would not include the diagnostic charge. Finally took the charge off the bill. The verbal abuse from him continued and was uncalled for. It is no way to treat customers by quoting one price, then trying to slip in another, and then screaming. We will not be going back. Like that they identify what is needed down the road without any pressure to get work done right away. Very efficient in terms of making appointment, too. I brought my car here last week for a routine oil change and emissions test. I got a call about 2 hours later telling me that I needed over $2,600 of work. "Josh" told me that my brakes "would not make it to the next oil change", that my transmission was leaking fluid and that I needed four new tires. I declined all the recommended work and took my car to Modern Tire, who we know and trust. The good folks at Modern Tire told me that my car did not need ANY work done whatsoever (I had just purchased new tires in October and the transmission was not leaking fluid). This place is extremely unethical and I would not even trust them for a routine oil change. Do not give this place your business. Typical chain auto body shop that will overcharge you for work and recommend things you don't need. I took my car in for a routine oil change. A mechanic comes out and tells me that I also need 2 new drivetrain belts, new front struts, and power steering fluid needs to be replaced. He presented me with a quote of roughly $1,400 for the work. He said the 2 belts were very important, and the cost for parts+labor for those would be about $300. I decided not to do anything at the moment since I wanted a 2nd opinion. So I called a mom-and-pop shop which had great reviews online. They told me the 2 belts would be $100 total out the door. Once I got there, they told me I actually needed only 1 replaced, the other was fine. They told me my power steering fluid was fine and so were my front struts. My total cost for the work ended up being $70. One shady thing Midas does is overcharge for labor. They quoted me 1.5 hours to change the belts, and that is a very easy fix which normally takes 30 minutes. It seems like they are trying to charge labor for the total time your car is in their shop instead of time they actually spend working on your car. I wouldn't trust this place to do anything more than a standard oil change, but I probably won't even return for that based on how they tried to scam me last time. read more

It sure is funny that a loud rattle appeared that wasn't there before and they said, "Yeah we'll fix it if you pay". NO responsible mechanic will ever be that curt and rude, and 9/10 they'll at least take a quick look at their work. So maybe they don't sabotage, but they could at least make an attempt at reasonable customer service. Not sure who the manager of this place is, but I spoke to a "Ron" and he literally threatened to call the police on me because I insisted that he provide me with the information to properly field a complaint with the Midas company. Don't ever take your car here. Rude and incompetent, all around. I will say, regional boss man called me after I complained up the chain, and the customer service from him was excellent. So maybe I'd take a car to another one of his Midas locations, but not this one. read more

I'm over 1000 miles from home on my way to California. Without any hesitation the manager at this location went above and beyond to get my car taken care of. I purchased a lifetime tire balance package from a sister company called NTB back in Atlanta. Several other locations would not honor my service plan but the manager here aimed to make my experience pleasurable. I brought my SUV here for front brake job I was told that all 4 brakes needed to be replaced as well as 4 rotors, wear sensors, and an oil change...I had bought my own front pads at the time however I was told by the manager that I should use his pads as they were the best ones for my BMW X3. He told me that the ones I supplied would not be under warranty and may not do the job because of the make. I was too trusting and agreed to having the entire job done. Low and behold 1 month later my brakes started screeching. I called to tell them about it and because I work during the week I needed a Saturday appointment. I could not get one but got one during the week. I was unable to make it and I canceled the appointment. I did not reschedule because I didnt hear the noise anymore but 2 weeks later it came back and again could not get a Saturday appointment. I called this past Monday and was given an appointment for Thursday at 2pm which I took the day off for. Today I called first thing in the morning to see if I could go in earlier but was told that I would have to keep my 2pm appointment because there was no availability. I went in at 2pm and the manager told me that I had no appointment scheduled. He stated that he was there all day but didn't remember talking to me. I'm at a loss right now because I'm afraid to continue driving my car like this for 2 reasons making it worse and a safety as my 16 year old sometimes uses it. I am appalled at how I am treated as a customer and how unethical some people can be. Please do not ever go to Midas in Bristol to get any work done on your vehicle!!! read more

I had been going there for years, but after my experience on Saturday I will no longer bring my car to Midas! I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation - never got the tire rotation and honestly I wonder if the technician actually did the oil change. He was clueless - never gave me a receipt, never put a sticker on my windshield and definitely did not rotate my tires. That was my LAST time there! And to the management - I'd suggest you have your technicians alternate their lunch schedules so that there is more than 1 technician available - especially on a Saturday!!! read more

I made an online appointment which they said they didn't receive. I was specific in my on-line instructions. I had a fouled plug that needed changing and that was all I wanted. When I got there they asked me what kind of oil I use--I said I was not there for an oil change. This mechanic talked me into a diagnostic test even though I knew what was wrong already. He called me up after I dropped off the car (Honda) and said the bill would be over 300.00. I almost dropped the phone while saying "No f***** way!" I had told him what I wanted and he proceeded to ignore it. The plug wires would cost me 126.00. I told them that I could get a set for 10.00 and his wires must be gold plated. I know cars having owned and worked on many and can tell usually what my problem is without fancy diagnostic equipment. Midas made me feel that this diagnostic test was almost mandatory. I knew I should have just changed the spark plug out myself. I know better now. I have heard over the years that this particular Midas was over charging. I figured they wouldn't try that with me. I was wrong. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR THERE. I wasn't looking to get the car restored. Never again! read more

I made an appointment for a break inspection. When I bought my vehicle in, they had no record of it but they took me in after a small wait. The tech eventuallty brought me out to the bay to show me that I needed all four rotors and pads to the tune of $750. He pointed out that my pads (with calipers still on) were worn down to almost nothing and that I might have 1000 miles before it was metal on metal. He tried to offer me incentives such as a Midas credit card and other rebates. I declined and decided to perform the breaks myself. Upon taking off the calipers (which the tech never did), I discovered the pads were in great shape with hardly a difference in thickness between the brand new pads. The rotors were in great shap also. Needless to say they broke my trust I had in them and I will be looking for a new mechanic. If anybody has any suggestions in the Farmington, CT area I would appreciate it. read more

Jeff and Mark were exceptional. I needed my tire plugged and they were able to do it right then. They even got my tire off (it was stuck onto the car) and did it all with a smile. While my tire was being plugged they even took a wire brush to my rim and axle to make sure it wouldn't get stuck on there again. Everything was so professional and no matter how many times I apologized for my old car and the extra effort, they always told me it was no problem at all. When it came time to pay, they told me there was no charge. After that kind of exemplary service and a complimentary tire plug, I couldn't have been happier I will definitely be back!
