The atmosphere is relaxed, the people there are approachable and friendly. Talking about my car's needs is like talking to a concerned friend rather than a mysterious expert looking to book your business. Minnies Auto does good work, plain and simple. They do it with a refreshing spirit and attitude. And that makes a difference when I'm spending my hard-earned dollars. Give'm a shot. I promise they won't disappoint.

I understand that shops mark up their parts, but restaurants mark up their ingredients too. If you wouldn't consider bringing a bag of groceries to a restaurant, why would you think that it's acceptable to bring your own parts to a mechanic. I know that I could go to a Grease Monkey or Midas or wherever to get a quick and relatively cheap oil change. I also personally know people who've done that and found out that the tech forgot to replace the drain plug or over- or under-filled the reservoir. You might eventually get your money back from the chain, but the hassle of fighting them and not having a vehicle for a month or more won't be worth the few $$ and minutes you saved. I purchased 1 tire due to 2 flats on my BMW caused by the horrible SC roads. The mobile tire guy had only 1 tire that matched the size needed. Firestone on Harbison had the tire in stock. The door was locked at 5:46pm though they're scheduled to close at 6pm. The mobile service actually had 2 tires, therefore not needing the solo tire from Firestone. my son and I entered the facility with the unused tire and was greeted with a snarl and frown from an elderly male employe. I acknowledged what took place, that I wanted to return the tire and presented the receipt. The employee starred at us for a moment before viewing the receipt. He looks over it and hands it back to me as he states that the store manager would have to return it. Then asked was the store mgr on sit. He tells us that he would return in approximately 20 minutes due to being at another location. As we were entering our vehicles, the store mgr, Ruy Tamayo, arrived. Being that he is the employee that sold the tire to me, I led with that. He stated that he could NOT return it because it was a take out. That this is "Firestone's" policy to NOT allow returns unless there was something wrong with the tire or they've mounted the tire on the vehicle. He then states, "this is why I asked were you sure of the size". But he never asked me this. Either way, stating the return policy (especially with the purchase circumstance) should not only be stated but displayed on the sales slip. He then continues to state that it's not his policy but Firestone's repeatedly as he stood in the parking lot. At this point I opted to call corporate to get a true resolution. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with a representative that left the phone repeatedly and returning with the same question, "what was the reason they wouldn't return the tire and why were you returning the tire?" The corporate rep states that the return is at the store manager's discretion. The rep asked had I spoken with the store mgr, mind you I had already given him the full synopsis. He then states that I should go back to the location and ask them to reconsider and inspect the tire. Acknowledge that it has not been used. I am not sure why the rep wouldn't reach out to the store and speak with the mgr instead of instructing me to do something that I have already done. I reminded the rep that the store mgr. repeatedly stated that the return was against Firestone policy not his policy. Therefore, his mind was made up to dishonor integrity and customer service shifting the blame to Firestone's company policy. The was not resolve and I am stuck with a $250 tire. I'm am utterly disgusted.
