I know sometimes it's hard to determine when something will be done but when your day is wasted waiting around when they keep telling you it's almost done and it's not, this is not acceptable. I'm pretty happy with the whole service. It was $71 for an oil change for my vw beetle, a little high...right? That was with a $10 coupon, still not that bad. They looked at everything and advised I have my back breaks replaced. They also let me know I have a tiny oil leak... : ( No pressure to have any work done, no stress! Went in for a break job and was quoted $1,200 dollars.... I was shocked. When I asked the manager about the price he basically said that's how they pay for the mechanics tools... yeah.... awesome right? So I Went to the auto parts store and purchased them over the counter and did them myself for under $150 bucks. Very underwhelmed with Midas in Clovis. I'm not a mechanic but I do use things like this as a gauge for if I will return for other services and well, I won't. read more

They tried to charge me $450+ (can't remember the exact number, I just remember rounding up in my head to $500 when he quoted me) for a new battery. We declined the battery because it was out of our price range, then while in the parking lot I googled the price of the exact part # they quoted me- $169!!! I actually went back inside because I thought there must be a mistake. When I asked him I was told he has no control over how much "they" mark it up. Soooo- here we sit at pep boys having a battery installed for $197. We will never go to Midas again, that price is just ridiculous read more

This shop, the manager, and district manager lie, and they are negligent, rude, disrespectful, and incompetent. First, let me preface this review with telling you that my husband is extremely car savvy. He know what he's talking about. He rebuilt two motors just using YouTube videos at home and could easily do these oil changes himself and has, but it's just easier to take the vehicles somewhere else because our truck uses 21 quarts of oil and it's a pain to get the oil and then dispose of it later. Going to a shop is just more convenient. This is based on the last 2 experiences my husband and I have had there within the last month. First, I brought my Jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation. Both were performed, but my tires pressure was low to the point it was alarming on my dash which means it was dinging when they moved it from the lift to the parking lot and they didn't care enough to do anything about it. So, my tires were never checked or inflated AND no one reset my oil change reminder so both were alarming while I was driving it out of the parking lot, but I had to return another day because I had to pick my kids up from day care. Not to mention they LIED about the wear on my brakes because my husband replaced the rear two weeks prior and knew the state of they front, but they checked the box that said they were good on the inspection paper. I thought maybe it was fluke thing and at least they did they two major things I needed to be done. Second, as I'm typing this, my husband is waiting his fifth hour for an oil change. Why? Because they didn't listen to him and DISMISSED him multiple times on the phone this morning when he was trying to explain that his truck required the larger lift in the shop and an aftermarket filter that needed to be ordered in advance. Not only was he told multiple times that they would "look at his profile when he got there", but the right filter was not there when he arrived for his appointment (even though he gave them the part number) and he explicitly told them because he didn't want to wait 4 hours for an oil change like he had in the past. Here's how it took THREE filters to finally get it right: My husband happened to see the first filter that they had gotten from Napa (two doors down) and caught it so they ordered another one that was at an Autozone warehouse 30 minutes away when a Napa two doors down had it in stock! Why didn't they just get the second one from Napa? Because, per the manager, Napa "put him off" for giving them the wrong filter the first time so he decided my husband's time was so invaluable that he ordered it from a warehouse 30 minutes away, which actually took two hours to arrive! On top of that, THAT filter was again the wrong one, BUT THEY TRIED TO USE IT ANYWAY! Which resulted to it blowing up and pouring oil as soon as the truck was started! The mechanic told my husband that they KNEW the filter was the wrong one, but they decided to try it anyways because "they knew he (my husband) was already irritated!" They ended up getting the THIRD and finally correct filter from Napa...yes, the one two doors down. All in all, 5 hours, a smirk from the manager, a call to the district manager (Wayne), and a $40 discount on a $180+ oil change later and we will be talking to corporate. What if the filter blew up while we were driving out of state tomorrow with our trailer and kids in the back? The concern for safety and well being of the their customers is more than questionable and I would go as far to say as this shop is NEGLIGENT! Edited again to add: Oh, it gets better! So the manager tried to dismiss the $20 military discount when he discounted the $40 for the inconvenience of waiting 5 hours and 3 filters for an oil change! My husband had to fight for his military discount AND the $40 discount that he was promised! AND the District Manager, WAYNE, had the gall to tell my husband that they're losing money servicing his truck for 5 hours! NEVER AGAIN MIDAS! read more

Went for oil change. Was told I needed new tires and a serpentine belt, which I already had replaced 6 months ago along with my water pump at GoodGuys. So, I purchased 2 tires (couldn't afford 4 at the time), and had the serpentine belt replaced because I didn't remember at the time until I checked my repair paperwork later. The next day when starting the car, the belt screeched loudly. Went back to have the make an adjustment, and they then said that they must have missed it last time, but I need a new battery (which tested good when I went there previously--I have the readout) and there's a leak in or near my water pump. I said I already had it replaced recently, so they insisted on doing a pressure test "free of charge." They continued to say there was a leak after the pressure test. So, I took it to GoodGuys, since they were the ones that replaced it previously. They said the water pump is fine and there are no leaks around the area. I then had a 3rd opinion at Toyota, who said the same thing as the GoodGuys. The next day, my belt was screeching again. I went back to Midas telling them they needed to adjust the belt because it's still screeching. After I left it there for them to adjust, they called saying they could not adjust it because of the leak. I then went back to Toyota for them to do a diagnostic on why it was screeching. They said it was because the belt needed adjusting and it stopped screeching. So, now I have a $157 additional bill from Toyota because Midas refused to adjust my belt. I am going to bill Midas for the bill from Toyota. What a rip off! Unscrupulous! read more

BE CAREFUL they will try to scam you and tell you you need things you don't actually need at all, took my oil to get changed here for the first time yesterday and they told me I needed 3,000 dollars in work done. I declined they were pushy and I took it to be checked out by a trusted mechanic shop who just did lots of work on my car and families cars though out the years who said I did not need any of these things. BEWARE! They charged me 500$ for an alternator that cost at most 150. So my total was 679$. Just to replace a easy to replace, piece. The manager was very rude to my husband when he went in to pick it up. I guess he wasn't expecting to see my husband. Every man I spoke too laughed at me and was very angry at the charge. My dad, my father-in-law. I know this is a franchise so I'm going to contact corporate if that's possible. HE WAS VERY RUDE TO ME AS WELL! they even put my jeep back up on jack. Another new manager at this location. Hopefully he can keep the place going! Quick, friendly service. Well after talking with the new manager I was informed none of my information was in the computer nor were there notes of them not screwing the pan back up under my car correctly causing damage to my fender from it flapping under the car. I took it back 3 times for them to re-attach & not one note is in the system from Jessica the previous manager. I joked with the guy about him being lucky that I am not wanting them to repair my fender/bumper however, I am rethinking it. They also failed again on puting the sticker in my window for when I need to return for my next oil change something that I stresssed was very important to have in the window. read more

Unfortunately I will not be returning to Midas. I have been here many times and over the past few years it has gone downhill. I scheduled an oil change online and never received an email time from them. It says it takes 30 minutes to respond. After a few hours I called and they said they never got it, then said it's because they are closed that day. I said you're closed on a Tuesday?? Then he changes his answer and says ok I can get you in. Then when I explained what I needed done he was not friendly and just said umm ok, Very condescending like I didn't know what I was talking about ( all I did was repeat was their regional manager for all of Fresno Ray told me to do). Every time I come they always call and say I need like 5 more things done even when I don't, I take it other places to have it checked after and they say it's fine, only Midas says it's a problem. When I said no to the extra services their attitude changes again to not very nice. So overall just disappointed with the services and treatment. Maybe others have good service here but after another year of trying I was not satisfied.I will say some of their workers I spoke to were nice when they called to say my car was ready, but that one bad apple ruined it for me. read more

Brought my car into their shop recently because I was hearing some nasty grinding. The guys took a good look at it and was as baffled as I was because it didn't present itself like a typical brake issue even though it sounded like one. The did a brake inspection and couldn't find anything and that's when one of their mechanics noticed that the sound was coming from my front passenger wheel which was practically on one bolt because the others weren't properly tightened to specs. That genius move was performed by a discount tire shop that I had bought the tires from A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO! They tightened the nuts and sent me on my way. They only charged me for the brake inspection and an alignment which of course I needed. They could've made up anything and charged me for it and I would've believed it. An honest mechanic is hard to find and these guys are just that. read more

Well now it's back and Chris was fantastic. Got the brake inspection, he called as promised with three options and after my approval, the car was ready before the time he promised. Posting my first review here in hopes to save others the time and expense of working with this store. This store is using hidden "tactics" to up sell you on products you haven't requested or they withhold information from you so that you aren't aware that there are options for the service/parts you are receiving. We went in for a simple oil change and brake evaluation for replacement. The quotes came back (over the phone) using their most premium brake products, without telling or asking you which option you prefer (premium or standard). We also requested an oil change, they automatically wrote my order up using premium oil, synthetic, which cost us about $80 (versus std oil at $35). Because we were getting a brake evaluation with the oil change I didn't initially catch it on the receipt until after they did the work, thinking that the extra cost for the inspection and oil change was due to the break inspection component. They didn't even ask if we wanted the oil upgrade, but rather just assigned it, and that makes this business (and Marissa their manager) shady in my opinion. In another point, we asked for OEM brake parts (from the dealer) for our brakes...but boy did she fight hard talking us in a circle with technical jargon that they do use OE (original equipment) brake parts, which isn't the same as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts, and about them being the same, etc. When I clarified, she would say "yes they are the same" when I clarified again saying "they are the same with an actual Nissan stamp" she said no...but she continued to try to convince me to not use OEM. If someone isn't versed in parts I could see how these tactics may cause the person to just agree and move on. Very shady at this store and we won't be going back we are done with this place and you should too. read more

I took my car to get diagnosed due to my AC no longer working. Upon completion the worker working the front desk told me the compressor was leaking and that it would cost around $2000 to repair. I decided to look into replacing it myself and the part itself was $130 used, all that was left was to vacuum out the old refrigerant, as leaving it in could result in a corroded system. I went back to Midas to ask how much they charged to simply vacuum out the old refrigerant and they proceed to tell me that the way their system works, I would essentially need to get the full service for them to be able to. I called the man out and asked why their equipment only works one way, I was under the impression that a vacuum either works or it doesn't. He fumbled on his words and recommended I go somewhere else. What I pulled from it was that they were trying to gut my whole system and replace every last part for a maximum bill that I would be tagged with. RIP OFF!!!
