Midas absolutely butchered my repair - not once, but TWICE -- by installing the wrong part in my car each time. That's not just incompetence, that's negligence. To make matters worse, the manager, Connor, flat-out lied to me. He sold me a part claiming it was OEM. later took my car to Acura, only to fina out it was NOT OEM at all. When I confronted Connor, he backpedaled and said it was "OEM compatible." That's deceptive, dishonest, and unacceptable. They wasted my time, cost me money, and left me with a car that wasn't fixed right. I live across town, almost 20 miles away. This particular Midas Franchise is an asset to the community. They do dealership-quality work and even give repeat customers "manager" discount deals. I had a systemic EVAP issue that caused the Check Engine Light to come on. I brought my car to this place. I was greeted by Denise who is always very polite, professional, and friendly. I asked if a mechanic could also check out a strange knocking noise I've been hearing for the past week after 10 minutes of driving. I had extensive break-work done at another shop, and I believe the noise was related. Walter did the work on my car. After a little over an hour, the work was completed. I took a trip to Midas on 71st South Western for a faulty brake light switch. As I said in a previous review Midas on 71st South western is in a class by itself. They found a botched repair job done by the Chevy dealership on my windshield wiper fluid hose line. And they found a dirty air filter that the Chevy dealership didn't catch when they changed my oil a month ago. All of this is enough to Never go back to the Chevy dealership. Midas at 7137 South Western is a well established trusted and professional auto service and repair shop. They have been at the 7137 South Western in Chicago location for 30 years. Today was my first time at Midas at 7137 South Western in Chicago to have two exhaust system gaskets installed on my car because I had an exhaust leak in 2 spots. I met the Store manager Emerson at the service desk and I explained the problem I had with my car. I knew it was a gasket problem because I took it to the Chevrolet dealership a few block down western. Emerson was very knowledgeable and informative with my issues and said he would put in order in for the gaskets and bolts to be delivered to his shop. The Chevy dealership order these gaskets on Feb 1st and say they haven't arrived yet when I called them. Today is Feb 8th. I was tired of waiting and I call Midas on 7137 South Western in Chicago. Oh! the Chevy dealership ask me to put money down on the total amount of the job. Wowww! The minute I arrived at Midas on 7137 South Western in Chicago I met Emerson at the service desk and told him the problem with my car he put the job in motion by ordering the gaskets and bolts immediately. Needless to say the job was a success and professionally done. My car is quiet again. The exhaust leaks were professional repaired. Midas on 7137 South Western in Chicago is a 5 professional auto repair/ service shop. I would recommend them to family member, neighbors, coworkers and friends in the future. My 2017 Chevy Sonic LT Had been sitting all winter I decided to take it to Midas at 7137 S Western. My brakes were going "mmmm bop, mmm bop" like a bad rendition of a Hanson special. I really needed to see what was going on with them. As such, I drive down Western and come up on this Midas. After parking, and another "MMMM Bop" from my brak....I mean radio O_o, I walk into the place and explain my situation. They proceed to tell me it's going to be 19.99 to just look at the brakes. I said, nah, homie. But, he said, it would be applied to services. I go, what if i don't want to get it done here. But, then, the song my brakes sang went on in my head. It was urgent because I just knew I needed new rotors as well. So, I say, fine, whatever. So, after they are done, they tell me I do not need new rotors and just the brake pads need to be replaced. THEN, this sucka tell me it's going to cost me $258.00!!! NO DAYUM WAY! I was seriously taken aback. Then, this clown asked me if I wanted them to do the work. I said, NO! Then, he says, what if they throw something in for free. I said, no because this quote is the price I've gotten for Rotors AND Pads! He proceeds to tell me that I'm paying for nothing if I don't get the work done. NO SHIT SHERLOCK! I'm just glad you guys know you're ripping folks off charging them 20.00 to look at a car, not do any work, just look at it! I politely thanked them for the telling me what was wrong, and proceeded out the door. This price was dealership price and we know they always inflate prices! I went down the street to another Midas and they charged me 153.00 for the full service! SMDH @ this Midas. I'm getting upset just thinking about it! Never Again! read more

First off they over charge for brakes I could've went to the shop near my house ... the total was 700+ for brakes then when I got there he said my new total was 500 something so I paid it....just to get a call a week later saying he charged me the wrong price and I have to pay the difference for something that was his fault ! A few weeks ago my power steering pump gave out and I couldn't steer the wheel. After calling my regular mechanic and a few other local places I couldn't get the help I desperately needed. I called Midas on Western and spoke with Wil, he was very nice and assured they could help me. I had major problems with the car and didn't have the money that day, so Wil and his staff had compassion for me and let the car stay for a couple days til I got the full payment. They fixed my car and gave me good advice that helped my car stay running. I was able to get back on the road and back to work! My brake light was on constantly in my 17 year old Ford. I was honked at, swore at, zoomed by, and yelled at from motorists. I LOVE my truck and though it is old and worth only 200 bucks, I wanted it RIGHT. My usual mechanic had a 'tude' so I tried Midas. I made an appt but since I teach close by, decided to take it in during my lunch. They took it right in when I explained I was on my lunch and if they could just look at it, it would be great. In TEN minutes, Manning (I think that was his name...at the front desk) filled my fluid and the light went OUT! After 2 months of driving around with my brake lights on (SORRY TO THOSE BEHIND ME), it is fixed. He stated hopefully this is all it needed and if the light comes back on, do not hesitate to bring it back. On top of it all, he charged me NOTHING:) Hope I dont have any more issues with the brakes, however if I do...I will gladly return. This Midas has terrible customer service. They are very dishonest and will try to rip you off. They will quote you one price then when you bring your car in it will be something different. I went in for rear brake job he quoted me like approximately $289 then when they examine my car the price went up to over $700. I told him on the phone do not do anything to my car I will pick it up and just pay the 19.99 for the brake inspection. After 3 hours had passed I went to pickup my car they had my car jacked up with my wheels removed. I ask him why he said he wanted to show me the problem, i told him I ask you over the phone to have my car ready and I would pick it up and pay the fee. I was upset because he did NOT follow my instructions and have my car ready plus trying to rip me off. This is the second time I have brought my car to this place but Never again. The last time back in December 2015 i went for an oil change and they did a Midas courtesy check and gave me an estimate of $2275.00 worth of work that needed to be done. I told them NO THANK YOU! Took my car and left. I told the guy I did not pay much more then that to purchase my used vehicle - 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS. My car is in good condition. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS MIDAS. They are pricey. I'm not real sure about cars, but I'm pretty sure I was ripped off by the Midas guys. I had my brakes done 7 months ago and They're already giving me issues. Crazy thing is I had my brakes for 3 years prior to this and had no issues ever. They where from the dealership. I buy some Midas brakes 689$ job for my front end. 7 months later it's an issue. I'm going to a different Midas I don't trust the guys here. They seem so shady. I'm not saying customer service is bad here because they are very nice and respectful here and make sure they get you in or let you know a good time to come back if they're busy.
