Honest, trustworthy mechanics. My car went haywire on the expressway--check engine light came on along with multiple other warning lights. I was able to drop it off before going to work. Later that evening, the gentleman at the counter told me he test-drove it and found nothing wrong. He explained that the computer likely reset itself, which he said is fairly common with Lexus vehicles. He told me to pick it up at no charge. He easily could have said they did work that wasn't necessary and I would have paid without knowing the difference, but he didn't--and that says a lot about their integrity. I always have great experiences here. I never question the cost because they consistently do excellent, honest work. read more

I picked up a 8" lag bolt through the sidewall of my tire on The Skyway, they didn't have the tires I wanted in stock on site but, they said they can get them from their warehouse in about an hour. The lag bolt ended up going through in the most perfect way and gouging the inside of my rim, RIGHT where the bead sits. One of the workers took my rim to a local rim repair place to try and get it brazed (welded) so it will hold air. (They did say it might hold air if they just used bead sealer but that wasn't the case unfortunately) Gotta say, Bob is awesome. He's a bit on the loud side when he talks but he's very friendly and knowledgeable. He (and other workers) were up front on costs, concerns and options. I was in a pinch and they definitely helped me out and got me back on the road after a while. The long wait was expected and just part of the process, at least there was some food spots within walking distance. As far as the "look" of the place, waiting area could definitely be a bit cleaner but it's not a complete mess. The shop area is nice, lifts look decently clean and maintained too. Plenty of bays/lifts for busier days too. Exterior needs help with maintenance, CMU cracks and caulk joints at the windows is basically missing causing some small drafts in the waiting room. Got my car home and did notice quite a lot of chipped paint on 3 of the 4 rims. Also noticed that the wheel lock socket was missing. Called the shop, tech claimed he left it in the cup holder however... the truck doesn't have a cup holder... Bob looked around and found it in the shop. Will have to let him know about the paint chips from install. Not expecting them to fix it but maybe they'll tell the techs to be more careful Total cost was just under $880 Tires - Goodyear Assurance 205/70R15 read more

I broke down in Hyde Park and had a hard time finding a mechanic to work on my vehicle -- everything closer to downtown was booked and/or could not hold my vehicle overnight. I could tell on the phone by Bob's friendly and straightforward customer service that I was in good hands. My car overheated (also heating was not working inside) and I needed the water pump and thermostat replaced. Bob was incredibly accommodating and was understanding that I needed my car back asap to pick up my kids from school the next day. He stayed late to get the job done. I came in with my check engine light on, my catalytic converter found to have a leak. However, they refused to return my damaged Cadillac converter and oxygen sensors. I did not need new oxygen censors. The total charge was $2,308.88 just for parts (no labor) when a new catalytic converter cost $300.00. read more

1st time bringing my 10 year old Volvo SUV in for service at this place. My wife used to bring in her 10+ year old Highlander for service for years. Bob is one of the the friendliest gents you'll meet. Needed brake pads and rotors, new battery and an oil change. I called ahead and Bob, Fred and the team got me in quick on a Friday afternoon, confirmed my diagnosis and gave me an estimate within 30 minutes. Cost was in line with expectations. They had my car ready by 9:15 am the next day. Would have been same day, but the parts were delayed due to weather, and Bob let me know right away, which was great, so I could plan my day. Car is running great after service. Didn't want to waste time with a dealer far away from home on a 10+ year old car. Having a place for service 15 minutes away is great. I went here for squeaky brakes on my 2008 Highlander. The employees are friendly and looked at my car right away. It's $30 for brake diagnosis, which goes to your bill if you have the work done there. The mechanic showed me the brakes and rotors front and back and told me in the future I would need control arms replaced. Back brakes and rioters was $385 which was similar price I paid at another place last time I had this done. I received an estimate for the control arms so I can plan for this repair in the future. They also rotated my tires and found out why my tire pressure light won't go out all winter. I thought I might need a new sensor but turns out it was my spare tripping the sensor! Great experience and very courteous, fast service with high transparency. read more

My car was riding perfectly fine until I went and got an oil change done here. they gave me horrible service when I went back to tell them my service engine light was never on. I believe they tampered with my car and made my service engine light come on. I went back and politely asked them to check and see if maybe they didn't close my oil cap or messed with one of my sensors. they tried to charge me $89.00 for a diagnosis. I'll never go to this place again in my life. No wonder they have a sign up saying hiring mechanics. I am beyond upset. Just because I'm a woman they assume I don't know much about cars. Do not go here for an oil change. Because if you do best believe your service engine light will come on. read more

OMG Awsome people is all I can say I took my car in for repairs expecting to pay a ton loads of money. I think most people can tell you the difference between a great mechanic shop and a bad one usually is honesty. We all get it's a business that very few know about in depth. So the potential to be upsold on a service is always there. But when you aren't pressured or forced, sometimes that's all the difference. I came into this Midas after finding a Groupon for an oil change. This was after visiting the Midas literally 2 blocks down the street. Soon as I walked I told Bob exactly what I bought and his words were exactly... "Man, I'll do whatever you want to your car. If that's all you want (an oil change), that's all I do." Great Bob. Because that's all I wanted. I've been going to Midas (different location) for the last 2 years so I knew what type of oil my car took. But Bob still looked it up just to make sure I was correct AND again reinterated that if I wanted something different, he'll do whatever I want. Lucky for me I was in and out in about 30 mins. Really cool guy who didn't make something simple, complicated. I can appreciate that. read more

Go for simple stuff like oil change, flushes, etc. I made the mistake of going because my car continuously shut off and check engine light came on. After diagnostic test and 435 bill, it died on me in the middle of 290. Towed it to the shop and Bob assured me it would be resolved. Car returned and died an hour later after driving from shop. Took car again (i know at this point, shame on me), but I was being optimistic. Didn't die out until the next day...hey that's a start and luckily i was one block from house. Called customer number, they assured me Bob and his boys "do excellent work, if you had said any other shop I would have questioned it, give them another chance." :~ Left car all day, it died and has continuously died randomly while i drive it. Check engine light still on and I am out 435. They don't back or guarantee their work. Avoid and take to real mechanics. read more

The car works fine after the repair. That's not the problem. Interesting how easy it was to talk the price down $371.00. Much b** s*** was given for the original price - until I said I'd get a quote elsewhere. Then the magic happened. The good ol boy who directed this farce only added to my annoyance with his "aw shucks" attitude. Bottom line, no one should have to work hard at making sure the price is reasonable. My car ran perfectly when I took it there. I had just gotten an oil change from a different shop but I kept hearing a grinding noise coming from my tire. Took it to them and before I knew it I was presented with a $3600 bill. Tire, shocks, brakes and rotors. KNow that I needed work before the winter I payed to have this done. Drove out of the place the same day and the grinding noise was still there. Took it back to them and was told that it was a $175.00 ball bearing job that would remedy the problem. THE WORST PART IS a few days later I get a low oil reading on my dash board. Pulled over to check my oil and IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. Bone dry !??? For a toyota Camray that ran perfectly now I looking at serious problems with my engine. I truly believe that they sabotaged me to get a sucker that would pay them back into their shop. I came on a friday on my lunch break after hearing a noise rhat ataryed on Monday i wanted to make sure my brakes were my problem.. the mechanic came out to greet me and stated he could hear it was my breaks... After they got my car in the air they came back and told me my problems while showing me... i had two other issues other than my brakes, which i suspected before.. i asked how long would it take because i only had a limited amount of time.. they gave me a time within my window and stated if they couldnt get my car back to me before the time i needed it they would drive me to my job and pick me up later... my car was done within 90 min even though they had to get some parts delivered and they were so super courteous.... The mechanic who's name I really wish I could remember even skipped his lunch break so he could get me in amd out and back to work... Thanks guys!!! read more

I had my brake pads and rotors changed at this location last year, and due to the winter salt and lack of driving, rust had built up on the brakes. Even though it wasn't the fault of Midas, I brought my car back to them, and they replaced the pads and motors for no charge. And, they had the car ready in only a few hours. I had been to this shop twice before for relatively minor but important things and had a good experience. So when my steering wheel began to inexplicably shake, this was the first and only place I thought to visit. As usual, I was well-served. The problem was quickly diagnosed and I appreciated that I was physically shown what the issue was. These darn Chicago potholes finally got me for a couple bent rims! I was given a very reasonable option for 2 replacement rims and tires and I took it. I came back the next day and it was taken care of within an hour. I also had a loose heat shield that they reattached gratis. I appreciate the friendliness, forthrightness and professionalism in this shop. It's one of the few places I've ever been where I did not feel intimidated as a woman, or that I was being swindled. I hope I don't have to see them anytime soon, but if I do I know I'll be in good hands! read more

I went to this Midas on Saturday, March 2, 2019 being I had a coupon from the Midas website with this location's address. $49.95 for synthetic oil change and tire rotation. When I got there around 8:30 a.m., the owner informed me that it would be two hours. I stated, "For $49.95, I would wait." He then stated, "For your 2015 Chevy Cruze, the oil change is $105." I stated I have a coupon with this location's address. He told me he was not a participating dealer. I asked, "Why does it have your address." I stated it's against the law to "bait and switch." He told me he didn't give a damn and I left the premises, vowing never to come back again, and to write the Attorney's General Office. Black people, we must wake up. White people don't come to this location. Not only was he disrespectful, but he adamantly denied the coupon. When businesses act in such manner, please write your state's Attorney General's office. Okay so this shop is very honest and quick. I went in at 7:30am because I like to get in and out quickly, they open at 7am. I came in for a diagnostic test that came back great. The mechanic noticed that I needed some coolant and air in my tire and bam I was out the door. The first time I went to this shop, my car was stalling out on the road. I was told the radiator was a problem and paid for a replacement. The problem was actually a simple fix with the driveshaft and it required a second trip. At least they did not have the gall to charge me for that. I figured that making one mistake would motivate this shop to take care the next time. I went in simply to have a few belts replaced. Au contraire, they damaged the alternator or its wiring system, resulting in my losing all power to all systems in the middle of Lake Shore Drive, nearly being struck by fast-moving traffic, and waiting five hours for a tow to bring my vehicle back to these jokers. I plan to demand an immediate repair at no cost. In short, twice they've failed to repair my vehicle, I strongly doubt their integrity, and being a patron of this shop cost me five hours stranded by the side of the road, delayed an important move, and nearly got me into an accident. Go anywhere else. There is nothing to recommend this place. Do not count on these knuckleheads to service your vehicle. Do not trust them. They are certainly incompetent and possibly dishonest. I have contacted Midas' corporate office and have no satisfaction. Now, since Midas responds to these messages, let me speak to the company openly. Midas, the only things I want are recompense, a refund, and my car fixed. Don't bother asking me to speak to your company unless those are the topics. I've seen how you reply to other Yelp reviews and frankly, the only conversation I'm willing to have is about repairs and cash. I've no interest in trying to make you better since your company's actions nearly resulted in me being injured or killed on the road tonight. read more
