I have been going to the Midas on Moreland Boulevard for several years. I've always been treated very professionally and every vehicle that I have taken to them has been repaired in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. I've never had any concerns or problems with any of the managers that have ran the store. They've taken the time to simply answer questions when I've had them about my vehicle, even answering questions over the phone. They've even taken time to check the gap on a spark plug for a snowblower for me just to make sure it was the correct gap. I highly recommend this location in this team. Gave me an estimate for over $1800, went to a local shop that was recommended who quoted and fixed my car for a little less than $600. I realize these corporate retail shops charge higher, but that is ridiculous lol. I don't know a lot about cars, but I do know people, every other word out of this dude's mouth was a lie/stretch. It's all good though, a sale is made on every transaction, you buying with them or taking your business elsewhere. The visit started off great, and everyone was helpful. I requested a synthetic oil change that came with a tire rotation. I was also quoted to change the brake fluid and replace the air filter, which I declined. After everything was completed and as I drove off, I realized they did not turn off my maintenance light. I had to go back to ask for help, and both of the workers who helped me were great and very friendly. Upon leaving again, I realized my car was not acting the same as when I brought it. I had to drive back to this location again and explain that something was wrong. The manager stated that it was not possible for them to have done anything wrong since it was just an oil change, and sent a mechanic to help me with the issue instead. The manager was not willing to help, would not believe that they did something to my car, and instead told me they wouldn't do test drives and walked off. As stated before, the manager had one of the mechanics help me once again. This mechanic was great and very friendly, and helped me fix the issue that they had caused. The issue was simply that the air filter box had not been put on properly. The reason for the two stars is for the poor customer service I received from the manager and the failure to acknowledge that they could have done something wrong, even after stating that I knew something was not right multiple times. Instead of being reluctant to help, the manager should have said something similar to: I am sorry you are experiencing this, and to send themself or someone else to help me. Especially considering this was such an easy fix, this would have been a perfect way to do great customer service and to get a repeat customer. I will not be going back here, as I prefer to pay extra for good customer service. Again, the other mechanics there were great and extremely helpful. read more

We were on our way to a St Louis for a Cardinals game with our nephews and got stuck in Champaign at 5:30 on a Friday night with a car that suddenly would not drive. After a call to Steve at Midas, he assured us he would take a look at our Subaru first thing in the morning and gave us a recommendation for a trusted towing service to get our car to their place. Steve and the crew at Midas went above and beyond by coming in earlier than scheduled on a Saturday morning to ensure we made it to our baseball game. The problem was fixed quickly and they didn't hassle us with extra expenses, took pictures of the broken hose for us to see and were extremely polite and helpful through the whole process. What could have been a nightmare situation was nothing more than a snafu on our way to a great weekend! We hope to never have to use their services again but would recommend to anyone in the area. They are a top notch crew and we are so appreciative of their care. read more

Absolute garbage unethical place that takes advantage of unknowing college students. Brought my Acura in here awhile back for an oil change and tire rotation and they said the brakes needed to be replaced. I said no thanks they're fine. They said they took it apart and can't put them back together since the parts were too old. WTF?!? Why would you do that on a tire rotation?? They wanted thousands to fix and said they can't put the car brakes back how it was so I couldn't leave. I should have threatened to call the cops then and there but I had to drive up to Chicago that night. I was forced to pay thousands for a brake job that I didn't even need. Unbelievably unscrupulous scammers! Avoid at all cost folks. They should be in jail. read more

I called and set up an appointment for a wheel alignment the next day and was told they would be done that day. I took the van in to have it done and asked again if they would be done, they said yes. I called 1 1/2 hours before they closed only to be told they wouldn't be done and that it would need to be done the next day. If they didn't think they can handle the appointment they shouldn't have set it or at least should have told me that it isn't going to be done. Horrible experience. I went in for an oil change on my 2022 Toyota 4Runner and when it was done there were oily footprints all over my floorboard and the oil light was not reset afterwards. On top of that the manager disappeared for about 10 minutes when my car was done and came back strongly smelling like marijuana. Even tried to cover it up with cologne or something. Fantastic place. Came in for an oil change and got me in and out quick. They did not try to pressure me into any upsells or sell me on doom and gloom that my car was about to fall apart at any minute. They told me to just keep an eye on the oil leaks I already knew about and it was common for my specific engine to leak where it was. If I wanted, they can quote me the cost to repair it but otherwise, just check my oil to make sure I don't get to low. Do NOT bring your vehicle to Midas in Champaign, due to Dishonesty and Shoddy Work. They charged $240 for an exhaust system repair. Within a week of the initial repair, I brought my car back twice with continued exhaust symptoms. Their explanation was a broken motor mount, with an estimated cost of $350. I brought my car to a reputable auto shop for a second opinion only to find NOTHING wrong with the motor mount. Instead, the continued exhaust issues were from the obscenely crude welding job Midas did. They attempted to weld and instead filled the remaining gap with clumps of putty to cover up the horrible welding. When I confronted the manager at Midas, Javier, my concerns were dismissed and a refund was denied. He proceeded to gaslight me by saying "there's nothing wrong with that weld. This how we do all exhaust repairs." After calling Midas headquarters, I brought my car to the Midas in Peoria, where they had to replace the entire exhaust pipe due to Champaign's horrible work. read more

I asked for a 4 wheel alignment and when it was completed the receipt said "adjusted to manufactures specifications". I asked for a report and was told the printer was not working, I asked to pull it up on the computer and I'd take a picture with my phone and was told it was gone now. I took my car to Tire Barn immediately after I left and waited another two hours and got a 3D report showing my alignment was not corrected because it needed shims on the back tires and he could only see where a wrench was put in the front driver side tire. He told me they just took my money because it was outside of their ability to fix what needed to be done. I went back to Midas the next day and recorded the general manager feeding me lines of garbage about how they did an alignment but he could offer no proof, he angrily gave me a refund because he knew he was caught for charging me for fraudulent service. I recorded all the interaction and put on public space to protect other consumers. I wasted 5 hours of my day waiting for the appointment, alignment, then having to go get it checked a second time because I knew he was lying to me. I was taken advantage of and lied to and told my problem was corrected and had 12k miles or 1 year. My problem. Is not corrected and would only get worse and put me and my car at further risk of costly repairs because he lied to me and took my money. I see the reply from Midas asking for more information, I would absolutely love to give you more information when I have free time again. I work 50+ hours a week in healthcare and when I had free time I went to get my car service only to be charged for a service not provided leaving my car at future risk of increase repairs. read more

Thank God for Pat and his amazing team! We almost bought a vehicle with hidden damage; that had a clean Carfax. With bill of sale in my hand, pending approval from Team Midas, we came into Midas to get a 2015 Ford Explorer, from a car dealership in Monticello, checked out. This would have cost us 27k+ for the SUV, before the possible unknown issues from the to arise. There is no way that car dealership's mechanics could not have known!!! There was no way for me to have known. Having peace of mind when you have a knowledgable, reliable and trustworthy group of mechanics that do know is invaluable! I always leave this Midas feeling good about my trip there (even if it results in me spending more money than I'd like). My partner and I have been coming here for years and the staff here is very knowledgeable, personable, and respectful. They're always happy to explain what they're doing and what they think the car needs - and they're really good at simplifying things without being the least bit condescending if you're not a car person. My partner has never felt that she was treated differently because of her gender which, sadly, is not always the case at other shops. I always come away feeling that they've done their best to do what's right for me and for the car and never feel pushed to do repairs I didn't want to do. If they find additional work that might be needed, they explain why and how urgent it is and then let you decide. They're also happy to share their experience and advice. I also really appreciate that they track the history of your car and use that to help guide their recommendations. In summary, this is an honest and fair shop with a great staff. read more

This morning I took my Jeep liberty into one of their competitors for a problem that I had after they did a radiator flush and coolant replacement. I ended up taking my Jeep back to this competitor twice for the same issue that was not resolved. They finally diagnosed the problem as a bad heater core. The competition had told me that they could not get my jeep repaired until Friday at that particular location or that I could take it to another location and they will be able to do it Wednesday. I called this Midas and spoke with Patrick the general manager he assured me that if I can get my jeep out to him today he would get it looked at and possibly repaired today. I immediately got the jeep out to them today and spoke with Patrick. personally. Patrick assured me that The jeep would be looked at today and if at all possible fixed today he understood that I work out of my jeep and I have my tools in there and he also assured me that if he had to have an overnight here put it in the garage locked which made me feel much better. He quoted me a price and while it was higher than what I thought I should be I'm not a mechanic so I don't know I didn't argue about it since I knew the jeep needed to be fixed. He assigned my jeep to Mark Who is one of their most experienced technicians Mark also happens to be the technician that did the brakes on the jeep for me eight months earlier. Patrick had told me if it was the heater core it was bad it would be a six hour job. At about 11:20 AM this morning I called for an update on the jeep I dropped it off to them around eight to 8:30 AM Patrick had told me that they were still working on diagnosing the problem. I called back at 4:45 PM just before I was leaving work and spoke with Patrick again he told me that the jeep was complete and that it had been the heater core. I don't know how Mark managed to do a complete heater core replacement in less than six hours. Mark is truly an amazing mechanic and an asset to this location. When I arrived to pick up my Jeep I personally think both Mark and Patrick for their amazing work and fantastic customer service I have told Patrick that I will not be going back to their competitors even for an oil change I will bring my Jeep To them and I will ask specifically for Mark to do the work the matter what it. To finish off the total was actually less than what Patrick had quoted me even a few dollars. I don't like giving bad reviews to a business. Maybe I am wrong. I hope I am. About a week ago I had my car oil changed at Midas. I have used them in the past and have always had great service with them. I noticed they did not rotate my tires. When I asked the person. He told me they do not rotate tires when there is more tread in the back. So if the front tires have less tread. Instead of making so they wear even. Would possibly mean I would have to replace them soonI was worried about that answer. I checked with my brother in law. He told me that did not completely track. The other concern was on the paperwork stating that my tires were rotated and I knew they were not. So I called and got the same answer as before. The person told me to bring it back and they would rotate them. I did take them back and they were rotated. Every website I have looked at says every 5000-7500 miles you should rotate your tires. I cannot find any study with Goodyear tires that says not to rotate them. Also it would make the warranty null in void if I have a problem with the tires. I am now going to have to find another place to service my car. I really hope I am wrong about Midas. They would not have told me about the tires not being rotated if I had not noticed. Brought my truck in for a alignment, I checked the front end and there was no play in any of the ball joints so I wanted a alignment done because I was getting uneven tire wear, when I called and scheduled the appointment the gentleman who talked to me was very professional, kind, and present in the conversation. We set it up for me to bring my vehicle in the next day to get the job done and one of the "mechanics" noticed there was play very little play in my pitman arm and idler arm. They quoted me over 1600 in repairs to be able to align my truck.... I was given the option to not do the repairs and still get my truck aligned to get my camber and toe in the correct numbers to prevent as much tire wear as possible, sounds great. Wrong. When I declined the repair and to just proceed with the alignment I was told by someone different, I'm guessing the guy who didn't wanna work on my truck that now there's this that and the other wrong with my truck and unless I pay the 1600 dollars they weren't gonna do anything. Service advisor was really nice and pleasant to deal with. Just wish the techs weren't so lazy. read more

I would rate as 0 if I could. Do not trust what these people say is wrong, and do not fall for their prices either. Very dishonest. I bought a new van, had brakes and a new tie rod end put on at a very trustworthy shop in Danville. It then was making a loud nails on chalkboard sound coming from the rear. I then had new tires put on and an alignment at Tire Barn in Champaign. Still was making the noise. I took it to Midas to figure out what was going on because I couldnt drive to Danville again any time soon. They tried to tell me my back breaks were locked up because my calipers were bad. Told me the brakes were okay still but need new calipers. And to call the place in Danville to tell them they failed to mention the bad calipers.Then they came back and said the brakes were ruined (this was in less than 3 days span) and told me I needed calipers, rotors, and brakes which comes up to a whopping 655 bucks. This is where the story gets real interesting... I went and bought the parts myself and had someone who knows what they are doing check it out and change it all. He gets the tire taken off..everything is completly fine! The problem was when we test drove the vehicle we used the parking brake (which hadn't been used in a long time) and it failed to retract back. He retracted the brake back and magically all was well again. So not only did they try to ruin another shops reputation, they tried to take advantage of a mom who had her 3 children with her. They told me it was too dangerous to drive, tried to get me to get it done then. I'm glad we didnt. I hope this place goes out of business. What a dishonest company. BEWARE! read more

I had a very bad experience with this establishment. These people are very dishonest and lack customer service! The receptionist, Misty, is extremely rude and was unapologetic for her and the service technicians shortcomings. She even had the audacity to call me a "girl"...I am a grown woman! They gave me a deceitful diagnosis. I feel like I was taken advantage of. They lured me into paying for a service that did not remedy the issue. As a consumer I have a right to fair and honest transactions. If they was not sure what was wrong with my vehicle, they should have been transparent and told me! I've been there 3 times. Yes, they are friendly but overpriced. The first time my car needed new brakes. The second time I went there because my left front tire was making weird noise. They claimed they can't hear anything. I came back 3 month later because the noise got louder and I was not the only one who could hear it. I told them to check the wheel bearing. The older guy made a stupid comment that woman hear things. Needless to say that I never went back. I got the bearing fixed at Meineke (highly recommended) in Urbana. read more

I came here for an oil change and tire rotation. After I received my car, I noticed my tires hadn't been rotated because I have two scuffed rims that hadn't moved. I asked about it and the manager said he was positive they rotated the tires. Someone else came in and he mentioned it to him and they said they did not rotate the tires. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! One of the MOST consistent autocare experiences I have EVER had!! I had some serious concercns that needed attention immediately! The car was purchased in July of 2015 and is an Escape. My car went through a dealership "inspection" and another mechanical "inspection" by yet a third party; and not a single problem was found, besides a lie from the dealership that the "oil filter housing unit" was leaking. I returned from a trip out of town to see my Mother for the holidays (December 2015) and we heard a loud "pop", and thought we had hit an animal, but I wanted the car checked out anyways. Upon returning home, I took the car to Midas, where Pat and Derek had my car on the lift and explained that the bushing had popped and that I would likely need transmission work done. I was not pleased with the expensive report, but it was so wonderful to have them physically show me what was wrong with my car and where. My car was taken to get a new transmission and additional front end work done. Once that was done, I brought my car back for a second time to have the oil changed and the "oil filter housing unit" inspected. Again, I was treated epiclly and shown that there was no leak and that my car was in good working order from what they could inspect; as nothing is set in stone when you are talking about a very complex machine that we have created. The power steering fluid was flushed and filled. And yet another issue was adressed in a manner that was flat out honest!! I really appreciate these guys because they run such a professional, upstanding, and efficient mechanical facility! I will be returning for ALL my mechanical needs, and you should too because they will do right by their customers!! read more

We were passing through Champaign,IL on our road trip home,and needed a semi emergency repair on our car. The manager Terry made a huge effort to fit us in before they closed, and had our car fixed within a couple hours, so we could be back on our way. He, and the rest of the staff, were very nice and accommodating to us, and our dog that we had along. read more

Stay away. Dishonest. A/C went out on my 01 Bonneville. Clutch was not engaging on the drive pulley for the compressor. Manually engaged the clutch and the compressor ran fine for about two minutes until the pressure built up and the emergency release opened. Obviously either a clogged accumulator or bad high pressure switch. I would service myself but the refrigerant is pressurized and requires special equipment to repair. Took it to Midas in Champaign. They came back telling me I had a bad solenoid in the compressor and needed $1000 in repairs. Only problem is the compressor doesn't have a solenoid. I promptly left and had it repaired elsewhere for about $100 (turned out it was a bad high pressure switch). Stay away, can't believe I had the guy try to sell me a new compressor when mine was fine. Glad he tried to make up a story that was so obviously a lie. A/C compressors are physically driven by the drive pulley. No solenoid in the component to go bad. I would seriously avoid this shop. If they lied about my A/C compressor, they would probably try to lie to make other unnecessary repairs. I find it sad that there are still shops that would lie to get extra money from ignorant consumers. Midas should be ashamed. read more
