Looks like my review got removed for some reason! Short version, very rude upon initial brake change visit. Brought my own parts, as they told me I could. Purchased them from Pep Boys. When my brakes started making ear piercing noise within two weeks, I brought it back for them to look at. Instead of doing that, the owner got in the car with me in the passenger seat, decided to floor it going extremely fast down the road in the city, and slammed on the brakes, screeching my new tires. He said his job was to make sure the brakes worked, and told me that it was the brand new parts I bought. Never bothered to look at the car, because he "didn't do bad brake jobs". Never going here again. Extremely poor customer service. read more

Because of the customer service I received today I had to warn other customers about this place. I was told by a current employee that the new boss cheats customers out of money and I know he's not lying because it happened to me with this same mechanic. I've been a customer for years and I stopped going because of that experience but the atmosphere is toxic the new boss is rude and so non professional he didn't even acknowledge me and because of how he is other mechanics in the shop didn't want to work on my car because they didn't want to get yelled at I'm like what...but because of my needs I said I'll deal with it but then reality set in and I didn't want such a negative person touching my car so I left...it's only 3 mechanics so under the new management it's not good customer service just go somewhere else save yourself from being ripped off and disrespected read more

Now this was the fastest oil change I've ever gotten HOWEVER it is because the owner was trying to get out of there for the day. It was one of the worst experiences ever. I called and asked if they had any openings for an oil change around 2:30 (online it said they were open until 4 on saturdays) and he said if I got there in five minutes than yes. I made it there quickly because I live nearby. When I pull in he is screaming at me to pull into a spot and then screaming at all of the employees there. So condescending and disrespectful. As I wait in the waiting room he is running in and out screaming at the guys working there, screaming at customers and then screaming at someone on the phone. I mean he was brutal. The guy at the front desk apologized profusely. I felt bad for him more than anyone. As I leave the owner yells that he's about to sell this place and it comes with those two shitty employees. I yelled back that I would be happy to have a staff that's loyal enough to take everything he's been throwing at that that afternoon. I don't know if this is typical behavior but it was awful. Note: I do have a video of this as well. Update: Midas messaged me directly asking for my full name and telephone number. I advised I didn't feel comfortably doing so based on my experience but offered to call them directly to discuss further. They told me they need my personal information to file a complaint. It's by time I give this place a review. Since I moved to Buffalo my car decided to need some extra TLC. I went to this shop three times this year already. What's with my car? It's old, all paid for, and I enjoy not having car payments. The repair cost is still well worth it. Anyway, back to the shop: I was always helped promptly, and feel that the owner made an effort to make sure my issue is taken care of. I almost didn't want write this because I was afraid Patrick & the boys will blow up and I'll never get an appointment. Still, after my experience today I feel compelled to tell the world. These guys are simply the best. I came here when I first moved to Buffalo with a 1995 Buick that needed to be babied and they were amazing. Years later when I bought an old Prius, I actually took it to the dealership for service. Not only did the dealership give me misinformation, they charged me a killing for the service. Having had such a great experience in the past, I went back to Midas today. 10 minutes later they told me key advice and had me back on the road. I've lived all over the country and never had service like this. They actually feel like family. Fingers crossed I can still get an appointment next time. read more

I've come here several times for service and my annual inspection. The shop is well run, and the staff are polite. It's sad that I have to say this, but I've finally found a repair shop that doesn't try to make me feel stupid or charge me for things I don't need. (Northtown dealership tried to tell me I needed new rotors the week after Midas had replaced my brakes and told me the rotors were fine.) The first time I stopped in to have my brakes checked, I was shocked to learn that I had been driving around for 4 YEARS without rear brakes. My brakes were misaligned and should have been reset when I got my tires rotated. No one else caught it. They could have sold me new rear brakes and I would never have known or even suspected. In fact, the shop owner took time to make sure I understood how this happened. After letting my car sit for a week, I noticed that my brakes "crunched" when I stepped on them. At 7am on a Saturday morning, I called Midas. I didn't really expect an answer since the shop didn't open until 8. I was surprised when the phone rang through to the owners cell phone. He very nicely explained why this was normal, how to make it stop, and even offered to check the brakes out again if I wanted to stop by the shop later. Since then, I've come back whenever I needed something done with the car. If it might be covered under my warranty, they let me know so I can bring it to the dealer. read more

The team here was very helpful and efficient. I had a flat tire, they patched it up quite well, and with a quick way about them. Since it was a flat, I didn't have an appointment, but they fit me in which I think is a very courteous gesture. I will agree with another reviewer - the owner is a buzzcut, army kind of guy who can be gruff. But it's all just demeanor and he's completely professional about it. Just the facts ma'am. I called asking about catalytic converters on my car and Patrick not sure if owner was so rude! He was overbearing hardly let me explain and was talking to someone else same time cursing. He said I'm in the middle of several things and grumpy and old can't talk to me for 45 minutes? Hardly was a few minute before he hung up on me ! The truck was junk , not to mention there was no way it would have passed inspection which he did, and come to find out the title had a lien on it and because we weren't from NY we honestly didn't know. Called Headquarters repeatedly with No resolution: A multimillion dollar company with no work ethics. We have many small cheap garages nearby, the reason we go to Midas and pay so much extra is to have professional guarantee on the work.Very high cost and misdiagnosed the issue. We took it to Subaru dealers who said engine is Lemon and we should contact Midas for reimbursement since they kept on working on the car and didn't resolve any of the problems our car was having. 1) They replaced the starter for no reason at all the issue still remains identical (rough start due to oily misfire) 2) For the engine light they replaced the spark plugs and performed some kind of engine cleaning (look it up on paper) for over $1000 and the shaking came back within 1 week then the misfire light came back within a month. They also performed a few other jobs such as brakes we are not asking that money back But we want our money back for fixing all the wrong things for very very high cost. To this day this issue has not been resolved. We have all the receipts with us. read more

After using very poor judgment and taking my car to Pep Boys on Elmwood for several years I was becoming sadly accustomed to poor, over-priced service from young, inexperienced, rude mechanics and indifferent staff (with limited exceptions). However, after my tire went randomly flat whilst driving to work I had AAA tow it to Midas on a friend's suggestion. As soon as they had the car up on the lift they quickly identified the problem and brought me right into the garage to show me - my aluminum rim had small cracks in about 30 places!!! I had just had my back brakes replaced not long before at PBs - it stood to reason one of their mechanics had beat my rim off with a non-padded hammer, causing hairline fractures that eventually split, letting the tire deflate (a common amateur move). Midas was amazingly understanding, let me leave the car there while a friend drove to my parents (2.5 hours away) to pick up my spare set of rims and charging me a very small fee to change it out and check my other tires. After that I was hooked. I've taken my car here for everything from ball joint replacement to switching out my starter to my annual inspections and they have always been fairly priced, thorough and provided quality service. They can be very busy, so it is best to make an appointment well in advance if it is a non-emergency situation, but they try their best to accomodate you. The owner (the garages are actually franchised and just Midas-owned in name) is an ex-marine or army member, per my friend, and can definitely be Mr. Gruff Buzzcut but don't let this deter you. He is very professional and runs a tight ship of largely older, veteran mechanics. The only younger person I've ever seen here was the owner's son, who I was told usually gets the "crap work" jobs the other guys don't want to mess with to cut his teeth on (like spending 4 hours taking out the rusty bolts on my ball joint). The mechanics are usually very affable and are very willing to walk you right in the shop and show you what is up, a must for someone like me who grew up around mechanics and knows enough about cars to know when I'm being swindled but enough to fix them myself. They never treat you like an idiot or try to bamboozle you into buying things you don't need. If there is a legal, safe way to fix a problem on the cheap they will find it for you, especially if you are driving an old clunker like mine. read more

He then proceeded to berate me that he was too busy with other things. I'm no auto expert here, but I'm pretty sure I'm not too far off base when I ask a car shop a question about...a car. Horrible service. I called for an alignment over the phone and girl named AJ quoted me around $65. I arrived and was then told a different price. When I asked why I heard a man (Pat) yell give her a break she's new. They then told me it would be $79. I really needed an alignment so I had them do it anyway. Big mistake. I drove from buffalo to ithaca and noticed something was off. My steering wheel was more left when I tried keeping the wheel straight. I then looked under my truck and saw that the nut was loose above the sleeve on the tie rod. I then called to have Pat fix the problem and he rudely said it wasn't his shops fault and wouldn't do anything to fix my problem or even return me my money. Would definitely stay away from this repair shop. read more

They make every experience worth coming back. I will never go anywhere else and I recommend them to everyone I can. Take the other reviews that say bad things with a grain of salt. It's a shop. Men yell to get things done. That's shop life. This is not a salon. If you'd like a pedicure with some lotion go some place else. Absolutely do not recommend if you care about your car. Would give 0 stars if it was possible. Brought my car in for a simple wheel alignment because I installed a bunch of suspension components recently as well as my brand new wheels that had no marks or scuffs on them. Upon receiving my car I went over it as anyone should and found 4 notches on each of the wheels from the wheel alignment machine. (there are alternate heads for the machine to prevent scratching or notches or if he didn't have the alternate heads he should have had the know how to maybe place electrical tape on them or something else that would prevent it) or the best option he had was to tell me he couldn't accomodate and that they would possibly be scratch. But none of this was done. I avoided talking to the "Owner" Pat and called corporate because If you ever walk into this shop you'll quickly learn that he has little to no customer service skills, unprofessional, and condescending. After calling corporate which obviously got me nowhere except that Pat proceeded to call and harrass me. Leaving a nasty voicemail where he continued to berate me about the situation. Will be posting the recording on here when i get home later. DO NOT TRUST THE MIDAS TOUCH HERE! Will turn your gold rims into shit! Pun absolutely intended. I stopped in yesterday (without an appointment) because my car was rattling underneath--the exhaust system was starting to go. They took me promptly, listened to what I said, and pulled the car in to check it out. After five minutes, the technician came in and said, "You're done." The heat shield was loose, so he put in a couple of screws. When I think of how someplace else might have replaced the exhaust system just because i thought I needed it, I was grateful I went to this place! read more

Received terrible service with rude employees. They stated I needed more repairs than what I did at ridiculous prices, too. Immediately walked out, insulted that they even thought I was foolish enough to believe what they told me (but Not sold me). Went to another repair shop (NOT A MIDAS) and got professional, courteous service with a great price for the ONE REPAIR I NEEDED, and they won my future business from Midas in the process. I have been coming to this location for the past 5 years. It is so close to downtown Buffalo, I am able to take advantage of the drop off/pick up service they offer. I have had my oil changed, new tires, tie-rod replaced, new breaks, new head lights, inspection and more done on my car. Pat is very knowledgeable and runs a "well oiled" shop. HIs mechanics know what they are doing and whether it is Gabe or Andrew answering the phone you will always be treated with respect.
