I went there last week to have an oil changes and the tires rotated. Later that afternoon, my "AWD needs service" light came on. They were already closed so I went to them the next morning. I spoke to someone there who immediately denied that they could have anything to do with that. I explained that my son was an auto technician and he told me that if they didn't recalibrate the tires properly, that the sensor light for the AWD could come on. The person I spoke to was extremely rude. He refused to even consider that Midas might have contributed to the light coming on. My car has less than 16,000 miles on it, but he tried to blame my tires which are like brand new. The person I spoke extremely nasty and very disrespectful and condescending. I was actually shocked. After his continued denial, and refusal to even consider the possibility that Midas might have caused the problem by improperly recalibrating the tires, I went down the street to the Auburn Chevy dealership. The technician there told me that the sensor that lit up is the same sensor for the all-wheel-drive system, the ABS and the tire pressure monitoring system. He very kindly did a diagnosis on my car and saw that a warning light had come on verifying that there was an event. After that, he recalibrated the tires for me showing me the before and after. He said that the person I spoke to at Midas was 100% wrong and that an improper recalibration of the tires was most certainly at fault for the AWD light coming on. I have not had a problem with the light since. They were tremendous and their customer service was top shelf. I'll be going there in the future for my car maintenance needs. I have been doing business with the Auburn Midas for several years, having my oil changed, tires rotated, and even my inspections. I never expected the response that I got from them. If they had just said, let us check for you to make sure everything is OK , everything would've been resolved. It would've taken them only a few minutes. Instead, they dismissed my concerns outright and treated me like I was some kind of "dumb broad". It's easy for business to handle things when everything goes right. But the true quality of a business is measured by how they handle things when they go wrong. I had always been satisfied with the service that I received there. But the one and only time that something went wrong, I was treated terribly and my concerns were ignored. They provided a service and took my money, but the subsequent Customer Service was awful. I will never go back there again and I will never refer anyone to them again. More businesses need to understand that when you do something good for a customer, they'll tell a few people, but when you do something wrong and don't make it right, they will tell everyone. read more

Terrible snow tire experience. Product not in stock, If you have an unexperienced driver DO NOT bring the car here. Almost went home with missing tire valve caps, leaking front tire and ignored rusting break issue. Received my car back with terrible noise, and now no e brake. Worst part refused to fix. Devastated. My Mini Cooper had a crack in the cooling system, it needed a replacement of the elbow connector for the hose. I scheduled to get it fixed on Saturday, specifying the problem. I went there and I was told I had to come back Monday or Tuesday, since they didn't have the part and had to order it. Completely understandable. I scheduled it again to Monday morning, called them, they said I could come in the afternoon, I drove my car that should be driven so much, only to get there and be told that they don't fix it and I have to take it to the dealership in Rochester. It's okay if they couldn't fix it, but they had opportunities to tell me so but instead they accepted the appointments, that detailed the car model and problem, made me drive up there twice for no reason. I think they need to be more mindful of their clients time. In my experience, they are great for car inspections but that's it. read more

He saved me over $1000.00 by only repairing the exhaust flex pipe and welding a couple of muffler connection points. Mike and his team provided a turnaround time of 1 hour for the repairs. Thank you so much for the extra special customer service in both the Ithaca & Auburn, NY stores. While my daughter was driving a car to pick me up at the Ithaca Hospital, she hit a deep pothole and it ripped one of my tires. After putting a donut tire on she desperately needed to to get a permanent tire on my car and get to the hospital. She found a Midas and the manager heard her story and fit her in right away! After a few days of being home we realized our other tires needed to be replaced. I called Midas in Auburn and they were absolutely fantastic and they even delivered my car to me. If I could give zero stars I would! i am new to auburn and I had previously been to midas in east Syracuse and had such a good experience with their team that I thought I could trust this location too, well I was wrong! The manager Mike Lormand and his assistant manager Clarence perham are either incompetent or scammers first time I came in i asked for my breaks to be done and an inspection they did both and I asked mike If my front breaks were good and he said it's just the back ones and the front ones are fine then 3 weeks later I go in for a TUNE UP they didn't even do a tune up they run a diagnostic test on my car which I didn't ask for charged me 97$ for that, then they try and quote me $1683.97 for an entire new "Fuel pump" me and my husband said no I'm sorry we dont have that type of money right now we will come back well my car was running perfectly fine when it went in, I had to go to the emergency room that same night and on the way home at 11:00pm my car breaks down in the middle of an intersection I'm alone and has a sprained knee can't walk very well i had to get my car towed so the next day I have a mechanic come take a look at it and he runs a diagnostic tool again (FOR FREE I MIGHT ADD) and tells me "no it's a small Evap leak" "not your fuel pump I can hear your fuel pump it's running perfectly fine" he tells me to pop my hood so I do, and low and behold the vacuum hoses clamp was undone completely and he tells me "the only way this would have came off is if someone took off the clamp whoever you took it to yesterday deliberately did this to your car there was no way that would have come off by itself" he also added that my front break pads were completely bad that I needed new ones ASAP when 3 weeks ago I asked Mike if I needed pads on the front and he said no no your fine on the front pads my thoughts are they wanted me to completely ruin my breaks on the front so I can spend another 900$ on the front breaks instead of simply changing out the pads like I asked in the first place. the people who work here clearly are scamming for labor cost and putting people in DANGER!!!! I could have had my 1 yr old with me And they would have put us both in harms way. I will be pressing charges for their clear negligence. read more

I went to Midas in Auburn Ny to get a NYS Inspection. They put my car on the lift and I waited for about a half hour before they finally came out and told me anything about my vehicle. I asked what was wrong and they said that I needed a new control arm and that it would cost about $700 to repair. Since my vehicle is still under warranty I told them no that I would take it to where I bought the vehicle and have them look at it and use my warranty to repair it. They failed my vehicle for inspection and scraped my sticker off. I took it up to the place I bought it and they said that it should not have failed for that. That there was nothing wrong with the integrity of the part. However the emergency brake was seized up in the rear and they must have missed that. I will never take another vehicle to Midas in Auburn NY again and I highly recommend you don't either. read more

Midas has great prices on there tires and muffler systems. The only downside is that the mechanics are not nearly as knowledgeable as one would expect. That is the only reason I could not in good conscience give them a higher rating. Once again though, the prices are fantastic. read more

I had to get an oil change and the manager, Michael, also checked the air filter and a few other things for me as a courtesy, free of charge. They informed me that I had to change my tires and gave me a quote in case I wanted to get it done there. I am still thinking that part over and may return to them to do it. I've been a longtime customer of the Midas at 236 Grant Ave. in Auburn, but I've never encountered a customer service fail this huge EVER. The new manager, Darryl committed two cardinal sins today - when I was informed that I needed to buy a brake caliper that wasn't planned on, I agreed to it, but told him that I wanted the old parts back. Upon picking up the car when the work was done, I was informed that I couldn't have the old caliper unless I paid an additional $50 for "the core." No one mentioned this during the previous conversation, so I was unhappy, and I insisted that I was leaving with the old parts that came off my car. When I picked up the box of old parts, Darryl actually physically removed the box from me - and since I was holding it pretty tightly, it took some doing! I was floored - second cardinal sin -I couldn't believe that he even touched me! An argument ensued, which included a phone call to Rick at the warehouse (who supposedly was Darryl's boss, but I'm not sure about that), who backed up Darryl and insisted that I couldn't leave with the old parts off my car unless I paid an additional $50. When I told Rick that Midas was going to lose a customer for life, he said he DIDN'T CARE. I did call the corporate office to register a complaint immediately afterward, and I hope I get some resolution. Darryl shouldn't be in the customer service department, and Midas shouldn't try to get customers to buy products when they can't have their old parts back - that was really shady to mention it AFTER I paid the bill. I'll never go back there as long as Darryl is there, and may even seek restitution, because I'll never know if the caliper was bad or not, since I couldn't leave with the old parts to look at. Midas gets one star for the guys who are actually doing great work in the shop. read more
