There are so many dentists- with poor government oversight unlike physicians- the competition is ferocious. Finding a skilled and honest dentist isn't easy. Most of the fancy dental offices, and many are skilled, yet their primary objective is to bill you for extras you don't need: X-rays, etc. and will do unnecessary work at your expense causing both pain and wallet! This little office has heart, honesty and all the skills you needed without suggesting procedures you don't. I feel lucky to have found them. Warning Lengthy Review!…read more What an uncomfortable experience! I came in for the first time about a month ago for a cleaning and left regretting the entire experience. First, no one greets you when you walk in. The appointment was not on time, and when I was finally called back, no one introduced themselves. I was left sitting in the patient chair for what felt like hours. There is also very little privacy between patients. You can see other patients while you are receiving your cleaning, and the space itself did not look particularly clean. The biggest red flag was the man who took my X-rays. He was extremely rough, and he became visibly frustrated when the X-ray pieces kept moving. He is not the doctor, but he asked me personal questions about being postpartum and nursing. I understand that those questions may be relevant, but he then proceeded to ask how much milk I was producing and commented that other women can't produce any. I found those questions inappropriate and extremely uncomfortable. Looking back, I wish I had just left at that point. Lastly, when I was examined and cleaned by the doctor, it felt like very little was actually done. My teeth did not feel any cleaner afterward. She was rough and repeatedly yanked at the tartar. In my experience, other dentists have been much more careful because excessive force can potentially damage teeth. What concerned me even more was that, while using sharp dental instruments in my mouth, I noticed her looking over at and talking to a coworker a couple of times. I did not feel like she was fully focused on my care. At the end of the appointment, I was told that I had some cavities and should schedule treatment with them soon. Needless to say, I declined and immediately booked an appointment with my previous dentist in the East Bay. Overall, I left feeling uncomfortable, disappointed, and concerned about the level of care and professionalism. I will not be returning.

I still work in Samaritan House as a volunteer dentist. I made my first appointment when I was picking up my grandkids. Dr. Vu and Lauren, the hygienist thoroughly explained their condition and what dental care they recommend. Parking was plentiful and easy. The receptionists, Jennifer and Andrea were very professional and kind in making my first appointment and receiving me as a new patient. I came in on time but forgot to fill out my registration online. Oopsie. "No problem, just finish it after the appointment. " The hygienist, Lauren was very friendly and did a superb job in evaluating and cleaning my teeth. She took a 3D, invisalign scan. The cleaning was super thorough and she asked for a lot of feed back on any discomfort. I really appreciate this as I am 66 years old and my gums are receeded in multiple areas causing cold water sensitivity. She said everything looked good but wants to see me in 4 months. Lys, the dental assistant took a full mouth X-ray while showing me her beautiful tattoos / sleeve. Who knew sleeves on the legs were called socks?! She's friendly and gregarious and apparently went to school with my son at SMHS. Dr. Ferrera did an evaluation and found one area of decay and I'm scheduled for that and a viviera retainer. He installed an implant crown perfectly and efficiently (10 minutes.) I was worried it wasn't going to fit as I waited about 12 months. All in all, Fiori (flower in Italian) dental is the perfect combination of excellent dental technique, friendly caring people, and modern equipment!

In my opinion, his honesty, integrity, and bedside manner have significantly deteriorated. About 18 months ago, I was fitted for an upper partial denture due to two broken teeth. During the preliminary impression appointment, I asked if my broken teeth needed to be extracted, and he assured me they did not. After my mould was prepared, I returned for the wax try-in. At this point, I trusted that everything was fine and eagerly awaited the final product. When I returned to collect what I believed would be the finished denture, I discovered that it was oversized and fell straight out of my mouth. Dr. Sachdev took the denture to a side room and made an on-the-spot adjustment. However, when he returned, the denture still did not fit properly and fell out again. Additionally, it appeared that he had hurriedly added two extra teeth during this correction, which resulted in a painful and poorly fitted denture that was lumpy and filled with hard clumps of dental material on the inside, where it is supposed to rest against my gums. When I expressed my concerns about the discomfort, Dr. Sachdev told me I would "adjust" to the pain. Based on my longstanding relationship with him, I trusted his word. However, after weeks of trying to "adjust," I realized that the denture was not fit for purpose. When I complained to my insurance carrier, they instructed me to give Dr. Sachdev a chance to correct my partial denture. To my shock, when I returned to his office, he claimed that the denture didn't fit because my two broken teeth needed to be extracted. He did not explain why he had not extracted those teeth in the first place! I left the denture in his hands and walked out of the office. I have no plans to return. I have since obtained permission from my insurance to seek treatment at a different dental practice. Furthermore, I understand that the Health Plan of San Mateo has demanded a refund from Dr. Sachdev. Dental patients, beware.

Dr. Santos herself is very competent, and forthcoming. She is always willing to "triage" your dental work - what has to be done asap, what can wait a bit, and what can be done in a while. She had a horrible attitude, so I decided to see another dentist. This dentist said I didn't need any fillings on the other side, and has been treating me ever since. They are just trying to milk people and their insurance for as much money as they can. Seriously, see another dentist if you get something that you don't agree with. Don't be like me and let this lady drill out 1/3 of your teeth for no reason.
