John is fantastic! A rat snake entered our shed and became caught in some bird netting. I made calls to other companies who assured me they would "take care of my problem" but I suspected that they meant "kill the snake". I called Mid Atlantic Wildlife Control and knew immediately that John was committed to relocating this beneficial snake. John was able to free her and relocate her back into the woods behind my home. While he was here, he noticed another rat snake in a tree near my neighbor's attic, he removed it before it had a chance to enter their home. Rat snakes are harmless and an important part of the Maryland ecosystem, but that doesn't mean I want to hold them or welcome them into my home! I'll be calling John again if I have any type of wildlife issue!

A fantastic full-service job--highly recommended! When my porch overhang was infested with squirrels, they arrived quickly, were very efficient and humane setting up their traps, and returned as scheduled for trap removal as well as to apply material preventing further infestations. Very happy with the result.

Not a happy camper!

Needed help removing a dead deer from our backyard. Very sad. Mid-Atlantic responded very quickly and pricing was beyond fair.

I arrived on a rainy Saturday, was checked-in (with a friendly face-mask worn individual), via name, time expected, etc. and was then directed to an assigned parking spot. There, another employee greeted me, asked me to enter the recue center for further paperwork and from there, I was put in my isolated room with my fur baby to finish - and was out in less than an hour. The process to adopt was painless. The paperwork was straight forward, the staff was attentive, ensuring any questions were answered and any appointments were set prior to my departure. To be honest, I have already recommended others to use this establishment for future fur families!

Horrible, shady place. We adopted an 8 month old tabby from Anne Arundel PetSmart and he is sweet,…read moreno behavioral issues. However, he may have a mild respiratory issue. Several reviews on Google regarding ill animals being sold and the issues downplayed or not mentioned. I called the rescue for information on the cat's background or behavioral habits and they said they knew nothing. So you didnt ask the shelter before obtaining the animal? They just place animals without concern for the animal or adopter. I hate to say it but go to your local SPCA or a more reptuable rescue. I posted my concerns on their Facebook page and was blocked within five seconds. There is no ability to leave reviews on their Facebook page, unlike numerous other rescues. They couldnt answer any questions regarding my pet, did not follow up except for a generic email, but immediately blocked me from Facebook? Hmmm. I love my little guy, but I do not recommend the rescue. Maybe the vet office is better, I sure hope so.

Taking the donations to the MDSPCA, I was able to see just how awesome the staff still is, how clean and organized the kennels are, and just how beautiful the building is. The dogs awaiting adoption were clean and looked comfortable in their cozy kennels with toys, blankets, cots, etc. Of course, I wanted to take them all home with me, but Shadow's my bestest boy and being 13 1/2, he's my one and only for now.

The facility was clean, warm, and welcoming, and it was evident the cats were well cared for--many were in foster homes, which we loved to see. What really stood out to us was how thorough the adoption process was. They carefully vet adopters to ensure the best match for both the pet and the family. We appreciated the thoughtful questions and attention to detail in finding the right fit. Our two kitties had a wonderful foster, who we got to meet, first on a zoom call, then in person on the day of adoption, and we were given all their medical info, plus a solid plan to help them adjust to their new home. It's been lifechanging having them with us, and we're so grateful for the care and dedication of everyone at SPCA Hampden. Thank you for everything!

Humane Society of Harford County Review: Staff Ego Over Animal Welfare - A Grieving Family's…read moreNightmare 1-Star Rating (Hits the Bottom Because That's Where This Place Belongs) I showed up on November 23, 2025, a dad with three little girls--6, 4, and 3--still crying over our lost 14-year-old rescue dog. Empty bowls on the floor, his collar clutched at bedtime, questions every morning about when he's coming back. We'd spent hours on your website, picking two dogs that looked like the perfect fix. Drove 92 minutes each way--three hours total--for that one rare weekend without kids at grandparents. Goal: Check them out alone, bring one home as a surprise to stop the tears. Straightforward. What any desperate parent would do. Instead, your staff turned it into a 20-minute interrogation that left me furious, humiliated, and empty-handed. Two women at the desk--one in gray hoodie with short dark hair and glasses, the other in red shirt with long dark hair and a nose ring--decided I was the enemy for not dragging toddlers across counties. "Kids here?" No? "Can't see the dogs. Policy." Policy? Your own "How to Adopt" guide on the website spells out ID checks, lease copies, landlord emails--nothing about mandatory kid cameos. It says to ask staff if a dog likes children during selection. Ask. Not "show up or shut out." I point this out calmly. They double down. I ask for the adoption contract--the real deal. Red Shirt snaps, "That doesn't matter; it's not even a contract." I flip it: Bold title, "Adoption Contract." Read the first lines out loud: No guarantees on health, behavior, or anything; adopter takes all risks the second you sign. That's the whole point--adults like me decide if it's a fit. No line about needing kids there to "approve." But they keep changing the rules like it's a game: First "whole household," then "under 18," "under 12," manager on phone says "under 11," ends with "anyone interacting with the dog." Grandparents? Neighbors? Make everyone parade in? That's not policy; that's nonsense. I explain the impossible: Three-hour round trip for kids? Shelter closed by then. Weekdays? School and work kill it. Thanksgiving week? Two weeks minimum delay--those dogs gone by then. "Just let me look--if they're too rough, I'm walking." Nope. Stuck in the lobby, lectured like a criminal, Red Shirt muttering snide digs about me being difficult. The guy nearby? Rolls eyes, shakes head the whole time--knows it's wrong, says nothing. Management backs this circus from afar, claiming "discretion" and my "concerning behavior." Bull. CCTV would show me polite, apologetic, begging for a chance. They wasted two hours on word games instead of one simple meet. Your guide says talk to staff about "does he like children?"--not "bring them or bust." It admits no guarantees on temperament because history's a guess. So why block a vetting parent from even starting? Donors give money to get dogs out of cages into loving homes with fences, vets, and families ready to love. Not to fuel staff power trips that keep tails wagging in wire. Dark thought: Those kennels must echo with what-ifs--dogs wondering why "forever homes" means forever waits. Dry fact: If safety's the excuse, why not train staff to ask questions instead of slamming doors? This isn't compassion; it's control. Staff and management chose egos over empty hearts--and over animals rotting in holds while "stray" timers tick. We'll never set foot there again, adopt from anywhere else, and tell everyone we know: Skip this place. Real rescues prioritize paws over pride. Steer Clear. Spread the Word. Let Donations Dry Up.
