Was a pain at every step of the way. Two days before my scheduled move, they informed me they were actually coming one day early. This meant I had to stay up basically through the night packing, which caused me to do a worse job packing efficiently and choosing what to keep. Next, they charged me way more than the quoted price and a bunch of extra fees never previously disclosed (the head of the moving team was also pretty rude). Lastly, they delivered my stuff over a week and a half after my requested date, despite plenty of notice. This meant living in an empty apartment and starting my new job without anything. I had to use the movers recently and I am very happy with the service. They are flexible and reliable with their dates and times. They called before arriving and even a day before. Same when they were about to arrive to the destination. So communication is a key factor for them. From what I've seen David and the movers are very professional and efficient. They arrived with lots of padding and tape to cover the furniture. They also took apart the large desk I had and bookcases and put them back together at the new place. I highly recommend them. I also recommend moving all your items in boxes and not tubs. Use something to mark your boxes with like a signature or a colored tape so you know it's yours. I think that will make everything easier for you and for them. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I am honestly baffled as to how this company all of a sudden has such a good rating on Google. Unfortunately I was in a huge rush to move from Baltimore and I didn't take the time to do my research before choosing this place. Worst possible decision I could have made. The pros are that they were flexible with me when I had to change my move date, and the guy told me he would expedite my insurance claim. But the reason I had to file an insurance claim in the first place is because they broke or damaged literally all of my things! No exaggeration. Every piece of furniture, picture glass, my guitar case... They even managed to put holes in my plastic bins. What was not broken or damaged was my bed frame, and that's only because they LOST it in the warehouse. There was only one guy there to unload everything and he didn't bother to take off any of the wrapping or put any of the furniture back together except for said bed frame that he could not because it was missing vital pieces. You have to pay cash for the final transaction. I don't know why but I decided to give him a $40 tip. I guess because they generally ask for it and it seems like the right thing to do. I was also under the assumption that he was going to stick around and assemble the rest of the furniture as is in the contract. Without thinking I asked him to count the money with the tip included without telling him the tip was in there and he just said "Yep! That's right!" And shoved it right in his pocket. It's essentially the same as stealing $40 from me. I had to write a narrative and fill out a form and send a bunch of pictures via FedEx to Anthem Insurance, only to receive a settlement of $60. I spent at least $25 just printing out the pictures and documents and shipping them. So infuriating. And pretty insulting If that's what they really think everything I own is worth. Also, the initial point of contact dude who gives you the estimate completely screwed me. They never came out to tell me how much space I would need in the truck so I ended up not being able to fit a bunch of things I had planned to take and ended up giving them away at the last minute. It says on the website that a visual estimate is included. I have never had movers so I have no idea what I was doing or how much space I should buy and totally trusted him. TL;DR: STAY AWAY. I wouldn't even give this company 1 star if I had the option to. I wish I was exaggerating with this review, but I have never in my life dealt with such a poor, unprofessional, unacceptable experience and I could not make this up if I tried! I wish I could get at least a portion of my money back for damage done to my belongings and major inconvenience during the scheduling of my furniture and boxes being delivered. My move was from Maryland to Colorado. I am an extremely polite, accommodating and reasonable person (too accommodating sometimes) and I feel that these men took complete advantage of me and disrespected my validity as a paying customer. I was told by Erick and his assistant mover that my belongings would arrive at my residence in Colorado 21 days from the time that they left Maryland and that they would contact me 5 days prior to schedule a time to deliver, unpack, and put together my furniture. I was contacted by Erick on a Sunday at 5:30pm that he would be delivering between 3-6pm the next day, Monday, or between 8-10am Tuesday, but he didn't know yet and he would let me know at 12pm the following day, Monday. He didn't give me a choice, it just depended on how much driving he wanted to complete in his own time frame. This was not anywhere close to what I was told upon scheduling prior to the move. I have a job with strict set hours, so I was not available during either of those times. I asked politely about a possible delivery on Wednesday. He said no. I jumped through hoops to get someone to cover my work shift on Tuesday morning. I gave clear instructions prior to the delivery that they should have had documentation of, and during the delivery on which boxes and furniture needed to go into my home and which items needed to go into my garage, a VERY short distance from my front entrance. The items were even labeled clearly. Erick and his assistant were both unwilling at first to take the items to my garage, but eventually agreed in a snarly, unprofessional manner. When I saw the brand new Hefty moving boxes that I bought for this move and other heavy-duty plastic moving boxes that I so carefully packed up with my items, my jaw dropped. They were damaged: bottoms cracked and broken, sides of the bins bent in, lids caved in, etc. Just destroyed and 100% unacceptable. On top of that, all 3 cardboard moving boxes that I packed for the move had huge gashes/holes in them. A few of my belongings were broken inside of the boxes. Most of my belongings were packed tightly and securely with bubble wrap by me that I, luckily, was able to salvage most things. Prior to Erick and his assistant entering my home, I asked them to please be careful with my floors, as they are brand new. I believe that this should go without saying when a moving company is delivering belongings, as I know of tips and techniques that movers have used in a professional effort to not damage the homes they are working in. When Erick and his assistant moved boxes and my furniture into my brand new home, they did it with such tremendous carelessness that they scratched my brand new floors severely, and even put a gash in one of the floor panels. They pushed and slid the boxes and heavy items from my front entrance across the floor down the hallway into an unorganized pile in my living room without a moving blanket underneath, even after asking them to place certain items in other rooms. They carelessly unwrapped SOME of the furniture with the blankets and cushioning that they used to pack it up before placing it on the moving truck, but left some still wrapped, leaving it for me to take care of myself. When they were finished unwrapping the small portion of furniture that they did, they were quick to leave. It was agreed upon during the quote consultation that they would be putting together my metal bed frame (which was also scratched from them being careless), so I followed them out to ask about it. They said that they don't do that and that was never the agreement. I was extremely disappointed and still don't know if they were just being lazy or if I was told the wrong information upon booking this company. After they left, I noticed so much damage to my furniture that I have taken such great care of. My beautiful wooden kitchen table is now scratched and chipped in many places, as well as other side tables and my coffee table, my leather chair has a small gash in the leather that I can prove was not there before, etc. I contacted the company about this shortly after the move, and I never heard back. Very poor, all around. Absolutely horrendous customer service. Their time estimates are way off - originally was told 2 weeks and it ended up taking 5, but at no point did they call to inform me when I could expect my belongings in the interim. My interactions with their staff were horrible - the movers at the original location did a shake down for additional cash and put an erroneous date on the form pushing back my delivery, the dispatch person yelled at me for calling, the movers at the new location refused to come unless I paid them additional cash and threatened to leave my stuff on the side of the road. Incredibly rude all around. If you decide to go with them, ask to review the contract in advance. Once they show up on your doorstep, you're stuck with them and the terms are not great. Their penalty for not making their date is only $25 a day and they encourage you to waive the insurance policy. While it may seem like a more budget conscious option, they tack on fees for various items including using an elevator or walking more than 75 feet. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for your next move. read more

A company I never heard of contacted me one day prior to pick up to my surprise. do not, under any circumstances, use this moving company!! their driver showed up with zero advance notice to deliver when i was out of town, and threatened me with additional charges to redeliver if i didn't get someone to let them in. after frantic phone calls, my brother was able to get there, and the driver made him sign the inventory list BEFORE they started unloading. everything their company's "professionals" packed for my cross country move was damaged, they stacked a pile of damaged, torn boxes on the floor inches in front of my new flat screen tv, and left a big mess behind. when my brother noticed my couch was missing and asked about it, the driver simply said "no couch," and left. THEY LOST MY COUCH! and that was after additional threats that they would have to take back all my stuff for redelivery if i didn't send him the extra shuttle fees via cashApp, since i wasn't there in person -- and the app declined to send it because of his suspicious account activity! more frantic arrangements then had to be made to get him his cash. because it was a smaller move (1 bedroom), i wasn't even offered the additional protection against loss or damage, so i got duped into waiving any coverage beyond the .60 per pound minimum. that equaled a $72 settlement for my $1200 couch, to which the company added a $500 "goodwill" offer. (you'd pay more for that couch AT goodwill!) not sure how they got their A+ rating with the BBB, but i wish i had been forewarned. you're welcome. read more

The men who delivered my things refused to move my couch from the first place they sat it down (it's too big I asked them to push it up against the wall) he responded "do you want me to die twice". There wont be anything matches with the Quote and you might be end up paying 50% more than what was in quote even you did not added on single item. THey do not say anything about Credit card charges and charge you 5%, they will never delivery on time and will call on any given day and say they want to deliver on their given time. In QUote they will never mention anything about Stairs, even i specifically asked for any charges for stairs and Tom clearly said no additional charges, but delivery people charge 150$ for 11 Stairs. What a DAY TIME ROBBERY! On top of it they broke my TV and i submitted claim hoping to get 50$ for my 500$ TV. Terrible, horrible, nasty company to deal and you will feel so bad where these guys cheat and take your money for no value in their services. If I could give this company no stars I would. They are THIEVES and SCAMMERS. I had to file a BBB claim against them and it's been ongoing for several months. First the guys packing the truck asked me for a tip and I told them I didn't have cash so if I could tip them on my CC and he said no but I could walk to the 7-11 and get them cash. Boy should I have done that because on delivery of my items roughly 2k worth of items were "Missing" aka stolen. Jewelry, Xbox, Airpods, Bidet, and random small things. I called immediately, to report these items missing because I noticed. I called Vanessa, the sales person about it she told me that she couldn't do anything about it because dispatch had the file locked. I told her roughly 10 items were missing on a glance. She told me she would have dispatch call me. Disptach, Ezra called the mover not me. The mover handed the phone to me. Once I spoke to Ezra, he asked what was missing and I started tell him. He told me these were small items and they don't move small items they have to be in my boxes and to take my time looking through my items. He will let me know next week if they find them or not. I tried to explain to him that all these items were in my vehicle and not in my storage unit and were last to go on the truck. He kept insisting the items are in my boxes. I tried to tell him the boxes that are here are items I packed myself personally because they have my labels on them. Looking at the manifest it is just generic labels like box. My lamp isn't even listed. They instructed me to call the insurance company, which I did. When I called the number an automated service picked up. When I chose the option to speak to someone it hung up on me. In my BBB they claimed that they never hang up on people and I'm not interested in filing a claim. I had to submit my phone records to prove I did. Then I had refile the original claim with a tracking number to prove I did. I recently received a letter from the insurance company saying the movers were not at fault because I signed the bill of lading saying all the items were received. Which in fact it was not signed because I noticed those items missing right away. I've sent a picture of the blank signature field to the BBB proving again the company was scamming me. So now I'm being scammed out of a refund or check. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! It's truly sad that you put your faith and money in a company and they steal from you. read more

If I could go negative stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I had paid extra for them to pack thinking that they knew what they were doing. Big mistake. I was moving items from my mothers house in Virginia to Arizona. Pretty much everything in the move was broken; some of the items were antiques; all had sentimental value and none of them can be replaced. The deliverymen put a hole in my wall while moving the furniture upstairs. This was an antique cherry wood bedroom set...headboard, footboard and dresser all cracked. I had noted on the delivery form some of the items were broken when delivered, but I couldn't go through all of the boxes while the deliverymen were standing there. There were many more broken items: artwork, family heirlooms, cabinets, and more. And they had packed them all. When I submitted a claim, all that was offered was $153.00. They were unprofessional, unhelpful, shady, and the claims company (Anthem Claim Management) were very quick to say that they are a third party and they only provide a recommendation to the moving company. When I called them, they hung up on me. NowI am going through arbitration, but am not hopeful that things will be rectified. There was another review that said if you use this company it is like throwing your money away, and then having your items broken on top of it. I agree. I wish I hadn't used them. read more

They were very helpful and seemed professional at first. I described every item I was moving and told them how big the storage space was that my things were in. The storage was 10x15x10, but they gave a price on 654 cubic ft., although I had 1500 cubic ft. of storage. The move cost me 50% than they quoted. I think the independent moving company the subcontracted did a great job although I was angry with them for holding my things hostage until I paid. They had the paperwork saying it was only 654 cubic ft. and were surprised by the amount also, although they had a full inventory list. I really got sucked in by "Tom". he also promised a delivery date only to find out it could be anywhere within 14 days. Luckily it came with 8 because I was not available and would have had to hire someone to meet the unloading guys. I would never use them again. read more

I have moved many times and never used a moving company. I finally decided to use one to move across the country and I am so glad that it was Mid Atlantic Van Lines. First of all, Vanessa, the dispatcher my wife and I spoke with regularly helped us break down our cost item per item so that there was no confusion on our end. Not only were we informed of what each item would cost we were also able to change what was coming with us right up until the day before we moved. Vanessa helped us gather information and worked with us through multiple quotes to fit our budget. David, our mover and his crew arrived promptly in the morning ahead of schedule and immediately got to work. He and his team were incredibly fast and efficient. He made sure to double check his itemized list of our furniture and boxes to ensure nothing was lost in transit. He also made sure two mirrors that we had wrapped poorly were reinforced and secure for the ride. I highly recommend Mid Atlantic Van Lines if you are moving, there are a lot of shady moving companies out there and this is not one of them! read more

They were all too willing to tell me that my stuff would get there by the move-in date only to do an about-face on my move out day, when they told me that it could arrive up to fourteen business days later. I suppose I should count myself lucky that I only had to spend eight days sleeping on an air mattress. I kept calling to ask when my stuff would leave DC and the date I was told kept changing. At a certain point, I could only get someone to pick up the phone if I switched off my caller ID, leading me to believe that they might have been screening my calls. I called them to inform them about inclement weather at the destination. Unfazed, they set a delivery date in downtown Houston during hurricane Harvey. The driver arrived during hurricane Harvey without a crew. So it was just the two of us moving my things into the apartment (with me doing half the work). I would probably ask for a partial refund if I had the time or energy to deal with this company. But I'm just glad to be done with them. The only upside is that all of my stuff did ultimately arrive undamaged. I went with them (among all the moving companies from which I got quotes) in large part because they offered the lowest price and their sales rep assured me that my stuff would get there on time. I would've gladly paid more for better service, or dealt with the hassle of moving myself via U-Haul if I had known how this would turn out. read more

Extremely satisfied with my experience using Mid Atlantic Van Lines. Frank was very good at helping me figure out what I would be moving and coming up with an almost spot on estimate. The moving team in Reston and Louisville were very polite, efficient and careful in loading and unloading my belongings. The pickup was on a Friday and everything was delivered the following Saturday. I have heard horror stories of waiting weeks for belongings to arrive and this is not the case with Mid Atlantic. This was all done with the gentleman who came onsite, but Frank, who had done all of the false promising that got my expectations set too high never could be reached. Original review: I let myself get talked into using their service as the sales guy promised that the quote included absolutely all charges. We discussed and made it completely clear that I required a smaller truck for delivery as my complex didn't allow 18 wheelers. Dates for pickup and dropoff were all ironed out. I was also told they were a local company, which I try to stick to. The guys show up, charge me for packing materials ($150 to put two desktop PCs in a box with no protection at all), wanted more money to deliver in a smaller truck and after agreeing to what was the deal already, they disassembled all of my furniture even commenting that I'd have to put a desk back together myself. The quote listed that they handle all reassembly. For the small truck, they told me they'd have to coordinate with someone and call back to schedule the delivery. A week goes by without any communication. I call and eventually I get a date. A week after the date we agreed to. Fine. At least my stuff is finally going to arrive. Two weeks without all of your possessions. Great. The guys who show up are nice enough and haul everything in. I don't know if it was them or the crew that picked up my stuff (not the same folks at all), but my boxes were beat to hell and covered in I don't know what. Everything but 3 plates survived, somehow. They finish and then it's discovered that my entertainment center isn't there. They lost an entertainment center. I'll give them credit. They did find it during another move a few days later and said they would ship it. A week or more goes by and I inquire about the tracking number. It hadn't even been shipped. Nearly another week goes by before it arrives. Damaged. Cosmetic only, but it was a nice looking piece that was cheap. So, if I file an insurance claim, I'm not going to be able to replace it aesthetically as it was a real find for the cost. I also had the joy of trying to figure out how to assemble something that I purchased fully assembled. Scouring through the internet for a manual to a piece of furniture from a company that no longer exists is not fun... I have reached out to Mid-Atlantic for a chance to redeem themselves, but I haven't heard a response and it's now been over a week. So, if you want to be promised everything you are looking for in a mover and then be told none of that is true on moving day, and don't want your things to show up for a month later, these are your guys. read more

I really thought I was getting a good deal when I signed up on the phone with Frank. When the movers came to pick up my things in DC they did not come at the agreed upon time. Then I was charge an additional 1,000 other fees. They made it seem like they were doing me a favor by not charging more but it was a total gaslight. I have now been in Denver for two weeks without my belongings. APPARENTLY the arrival date is not an arrival date. It is basically an ideal date for you that they totally ignore. Be aware when contracting with this company. The Salesman, Tom, was unethical in his dealings with me. He quoted me a price and informed me that it would cover everything. When the Driver showed up, he informed me that he would need to add a few hundred dollars for "materials" (which Tom said was included). After signing the contract, Tom wouldn't return any of my phone calls. Upon delivery, the Driver asked for cash (which I didn't have). Unfortunately, I believe the reason they ask for cash is to pay the Drivers. The only reason I gave 2 stars as opposed to 1 is because the Drivers do a good job - it's just unfortunate that they work for a company riddled with ethical issues. read more

I was looking for a shipping company to help me with my move from DC to the Midwest and I called a few companies to get quotes. Although most companies require a two week time frame for delivery I was looking for a company that would give me a smaller window because I was leaving the country in exactly two weeks and I wanted some time to pack before leaving. I spoke to a wonderful rep named Frank who was helpful and assured me my belongings would arrive within the week time frame I was requesting. Frank and I went through my items and he gave me a quote. Although Mid Atlantic's quote was higher than any other companies I decided to use them because they assured me my belongings would arrive on time and I felt they were reliable and they wouldn't jack up the prices last minute. When the movers arrived the day of my big move, the lead mover looked around my apartment and insisted that the quote would not cover the cost of my move and said it would be $500 more. With no options available and the moving truck in the driveway, I paid the additional costs. The four movers moved quickly and within four hours the one bedroom apartment was packed up. After they left, I was looking around my empty apartment and found a few cabinets in the kitchen that were still full of items!!! I immediately called Frank (because he was the only number I had) who said because it was a sunday night no one was in the office and so we would have to wait until Monday. By the time I spoke to the dispatcher it was Tuesday and they said if I wanted them to come back for the items it would delay my delivery so I decided to carry 30 lbs of kitchen goods onto my flight to (which was a huge hassle and I ended up having to pay the overweight fee). I wish this was the end of the story, but unfortunately it is not. When I arrived in my new home - a week after my items were packed up I called Mid Atlantic to get a status update. I had a very limited time frame before I was going out of the country and I really wanted to be sure my belongings arrived on time. Mid Atlantic told me my items had not left DC yet and I should call back every day to see if there was any progress. This was incredibly frustrating. Finally after calling them each day, my belongings left DC and I could relax... so I thought. A few hours after I got the call that the items were departing DC, I got a call from the driver that he was stopped by the police in Indiana because he didnt have the proper paper work. I have no idea what paper work is required for moving companies, but again that's why I hired a moving company to do this and I didn't do it myself. The idea that Mid Atlantic could hire a driver that didnt have the proper paperwork is mind boggling! A few hours later, the policeman let the driver go and he made his way to my new home. I wish this was the end of the story, but unfortunately it is not. When I started unpacking I found a stack of my precious fine china that had not been properly packed was cracked and broken. There had been no padding around it at all. It was placed in a book box next to a stack of books with no protection and so its now it is unusable. STOP & RUN. I was in conversation with Vanessa. We were nearing the end of a deal and I asked to review the terms and conditions. Upon review, they were different than we verbally and e-mail agreed upon. I asked for changes. She became very indignant and terminated the relationship. I would steer very clear from this business. The fact that they would not change the paperwork to reflect our verbal and e-mail conversations, clearly indicated to me a bait and switch situation and BUYER BEWARE. Do I recommend this moving company? Well it all depends if you get the right team to move you. Leaving DC to Chicago, a few challenges in DC (mostly communication and do mention if you are reserving an elevator if living in a building so that the hours agreed in contract can be whenever they feel like), the team was awesome. Things were well packed (although upon arrival dresser and picture frames were broken) it is in Chicago that it was a nightmare. Knowing 4 guys moved me in DC the company only sent two, with no experience and no tools. Good thing I told them they didn't have to rebuild my bed (as stated in contract they rebuild what they take down). They had me remove the blankets from the furniture and one of the guys was so rude and unprofessional. He kept asking me questions and reminded me that he would expect a tip. He also wanted me to feed them. They had two hours to move me and they were sloppy. Things fell from the truck, people in the building even commented on the lack of professionalism. And, apparently they did not work for midatlantic vanlines. Oh and they left a piece of furniture that was not mine. So, it all depends who you get, do not expect support from the offices. I strongly recommend a team that will take you from point a to b to ensure consistency with the service. The two stars are only for the team in DC. Nothing else deserves a star. read more

Vanessa was nice to work with to schedule the move. The movers who loaded my stuff were fine. I was moving from DC to Texas, and I was told it was taking an average of 2 weeks for delivery, so I let them pick up my stuff a week before I was leaving, thinking it would give them a head start. I got to Texas on 7/17, and my contract said they would deliver within 14 business days of that date, so no later than 8/5. I called every few days and dispatch would say, "The truck should be leaving Tuesday," then when Tuesday came I'd call and they'd say Friday, then the following Wednesday, etc. On 8/9 I called and dispatch told me the truck had finally left and would deliver between Wednesday and Saturday. A few days later, the delivery people told me they would deliver on Sunday. I called at the time they said they would be there, and they were like, "Oh no we're not gonna make it...we had 2 flat tires...we're still in Houston...how far is that from you?" 1) that's your job to know and 2) why am I always having to call them? They should be calling me if things are not going as planned. So then they said they would be there around noon on Monday...they did not show up until 5:30pm on Monday (8/16). All in all, my fiancé and I were without our furniture and most of our belongings, sleeping on an air mattress, from 7/8 - 8/16; we had to buy new clothes and kitchen supplies to last us. It was miserable not having any idea when our stuff would actually arrive. The only positive thing was that nothing was missing and there were only small damages (some broken glasses, handle broken off my trunk). We had to pay in full (~$2700 total) despite the huge delay and unprofessionalism. I filed a claim and am waiting to see how much I'll be reimbursed. read more

Don't use these guys. The guys were great on the front end. Vanessa was great on the phone and told me that delivery from Northern Virginia to Houston Tx take on average 3-10 days. It was guaranteed in 14 business days. The guys showed up and all was packed and ready for them. They were quick and efficient. That is when things went very wrong. After 10 days and no delivery we called and Vanessa referred me to Ezra. All he would say was it will be there in the next 3 days. Which would by then be the 14 days. The 14th day I talked to Ezra again and he passed me on to the driver. He said he would be there by Saturday, Sunday at the latest. Saturday he says he is in Atlanta. Monday he tells us he would be arriving by noon, He calls and says traffic is bad and will arrive by 6-7pm. He says next by 8:30pm. He arrives some time after 9pm. He and his helper was very loud at the apartment complex. These people are all going to work the next day but no consideration for them at all. It was finished just before 10pm. The boxes were in very bad shape but we packed for gorillas and only one picture frame broken. The boxes looked like they tried to break more, though. read more

I hired Mid Atlantic van lines to move me from Virginia to California at the end of June this year. I had an great experience. My rep who's name was Vic was very courteous and a pleasure to work with. We went over the details of the move and he was very helpful answering all of my questions. I was a little apprehensive at first, after seeing so many reviews online with people being overcharged or things being lost or damaged, but I felt very comfortable in choosing them to move my belongings. On the day of the move the movers showed up a little early and got to work right away. David and his crew were very nice and very professional. I was given a fair price and they took great care in packaging my special items that needed a little extra care. Overall the move was great, delivery was pretty quick considering it was such a long distance. I would definitely recommend them !!! read more

This is my second time using Mid Atlantic Van Lines. First move was 3 years ago from the eastern shore of Maryland to the Midwest. They packed my four bedroom three story home in no time. They made it appear effortless. They even arrived today early to the destination. Their staff we're incredible. Best moving company I've used thus far and I move quite a lot. They were so great the first time I just relocated back to the coast of Delaware and they picked up and packed up my home in the Midwest and brought it here. Again perfect timing, extremely polite staff. I would recommend this company to anybody looking for competent, reliable and professional movers. These guys are 5-star all the way in my book. All my fragile goods have always arrived safely and undamaged. My furniture is handled with great care wrapped in padding and then shrink-wrapped. I really can't say enough about these guys other than I will continue to use them. Their pricing is more than reasonable. something you should take into consideration when hiring a moving company.... Cheaper is not always better! These guys are worth every penny and then some. read more

Where do I start. I had to move from Maryland to Kentucky due to my mother being ill. I called and they did a quote over the phone. I asked them if they could actually come out and look at what I had and give me a hard quote because I was having to get to the money from father. They refused and said no, no we can do over phone. Against my better judgment I took it. Anyway the day they show up I am told I have way more stuff then I was quoted for and they charged me $1000 more than I was quoted!!!!!!! At that point I had already given my apartment my notice and had to use them. The whole time they are packing my stuff up, they are using my bathroom, using their cell phones, and one of the guys had his pants pulled down so far I could see his underwear the whole time and at one point he bent over and his entire crack with out. I have never been so disgusted. They totally destroyed my DVD tower. They put the moving tape with the sticky side down and when I tried to remove it, it removed all my paint and essentially fell apart. They put a huge scratch in a shelf I had and also on my entertainment center. When they showed up to deliver my stuff they actually brought in 2 things that belonged to someone else. I started to panic and look around at all my stuff. I think I have everything that is mine but at this point it wouldn't surprise me at all. After the move was complete I actually found out from my old apartment complex that the company was originally named A1 Movers and they had shut down due to complaints!!!!! This is a terrible moving company. DO NOT USE THEM. I was told with my initial move that it would take 4-7 days to move me 1500 miles. It took way longer than that and wasn't told until day 3 or 4 that it was going to take almost 2 weeks. Hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Bonnie writes up a decent quote but then after you sign the quote she washes her hands of you and you can't get a call back. When the movers show up you find out that Bonnie way understated the quote and describes everything as small and the movers point to it and say see you wrote small, now this is a large couch so you pay extra. You really get screwed on the packing and you end up having to haggle for hours just to get everything packed and they try to charge you almost triple what was quoted. Then the moving truck leaves and you don't hear back for two weeks and can't even get a call back or an update. Then they call you the day before and say we are showing up at 7am tomorrow and if you try and reschedule it's a 500$ fee. If you tell them you're not paying extra that they should have given you more notice, they turn around and call your girlfriend and try to pull the same scam. Then they finally agree to show up at 8pm (after work hours so you can actually be there) they show up late at 11pm and you still get screwed. Worst experience ever. The gentleman who sold the moving package was kind and informed me of practical details like 30 days free storage and the option of delivering on my schedule within 10 days of pick up. However the team that actually assisted with the move were poorly organized and did not communicate effectively. The overall experience was a nightmare. They threatened to raise rates if i was unable to call into work due to a last minute delivery of my order. They also threatened to charge hundreds in additional fees if i didn't make arrangements to accept the delivery I contacted them about several days prior. The kind salesman who originally stated I could contact him with questions was no where to be found when assistance was needed. I hired the company due to great reviews, good initial customer service, and package options in the end, I wish I had friends assist with this cross country move because who has thousands of dollars to pay for panic attacks. read more
