While the service techs are usually quite nice, I seemed to be "bothering" them that day. I also had a "check engine" light on and asked if they could check it. They did, for $109 (most auto part stores do that for free). I was told that my engine light indicated that I needed some sensors changed out and a tune up - to the cost of $700. I decided to wait as that seemed like a lot of money. I borrowed a friends code reader and all that came up was that my fuel mixture was running a little lean. I was able to turn off the engine light through the code reader and it has not turned back on in weeks. $100 blown for "engine code reading" and $700 save for what I imagine was unnecessary repairs. Hopefully, if I go back again I will have a better experience.

One solid star. Aren't you lucky!…read more It's funny because I was never actually a direct customer of theirs, but their actions nearly cost me the sale of my car to someone else. It will be going through now though, because I found someone who was straight and narrow about his services. In order to buy and insure a car that is 12 years old or older, you have to take the car in question to a licensed mechanic to get an inspection to make sure it's road worthy. So basically anything safety-related, including tires, suspension, brakes, headlights, seatbelts, etc... If it burns oil, if the a/c no longer works, if the fuel filter needs changing... all these things are probably not going to fail the inspection. The prospective owner was told by me, that sometimes the engine light comes on, and then goes off again after a while. I let them know that my code reader was ALWAYS showing as being the O2 sensor. So when it came time for the inspection, the engine light was conveniently on. This fine garage wouldn't sign off on the inspection until this NON-SAFETY related issue was fixed, and it was a hefty bill in the case of this car. Nearly the price that I was selling the car. Then I did some research, asked around and found a guy who would inspect it and not care about a stupid O2 sensor which was NOT significantly affecting the performance of the car (it's killer on gas). The guy who did the inspection today basically told me he doesn't know a mechanic who would have failed that car had they done the inspection required to have the car insured. This was not an out of province inspection. This was just a safety check. The result of me not getting the car sold in a timely manner cost me a week of my vacation, as the sale was supposed to help offset the time off from work. I haven't been on a proper vacation in 8 years, so I have NO problem throwing these guys under the bus as a big "thank-you" (really, the word I'm thinking of starts with F) for their attempt at making a buck. And as I've read in other non-Yelp reviews, I'm sure they "weren't making any money off of me" anyway.

My friend asked if we can test drive it, as the one we test drove at Honda had brake issues. The salesman had no problems for use to test drive and booked appointment (4 stars for him). we got there and the salesman we were dealing with was not there and put use through another man, but he was busy, so this lady took over, and we sat at here office. She started asking question what my friend looking for, payments etc, etc. we did this already with the first Salesman, why again. I did stated to the lady were here to test drive the SUV that my friend booked appointment for. she stated well i think the Rav4 will be a better choice. like omg if we wanted to test drive the Rav4 we would ask to, my friend wants to test drive Corolla Cross. Finally the lady stated she will get the SUV. Test dove it and stated to the lady we will keep in touch and left. I was not impressed with the service from this lady, first she should have the SUV that my friend booked for sitting by the door for us to test drive, second not try to change my friend minds and drive something that my friend wasn't interested in. I'm getting so gross on the dealerships these day, the questions they ask, the paper work they do before if the sale is final, it takes more time doing the paper stuff actually test driving the vehicles. this is getting stupid, my friend spent more time in the office then test driving. what happen with courtesy these day, when you go to a dealership you see a couple of vehicles your interested in, the salesman come to you and you stated to the salesman you are interested and would like to test drive. you give him your personal information, then you test drive. if you liked the one you test drive and interested in buying, that's when the paper work begins. Why? Their staff are freakishly friendly. No one there comes across as not wanting to be there, and unlike the Parkland Mall location, you CAN get an appointment made for oil changes. For someone as busy as me, that's GOLD. I just got dropped off by their shuttle after getting the truck booked for an oil change. While waiting, one of the random staff came up and handed me a more current newspaper, seeing as I was reading one from yesterday. Extremely consistent, and they never let me down. Like all Kal Tire locations, the only knock on them is that you can't make an appointment for tire-related service. But with a free shuttle service, at least you're not stranded when you get there!

At this Kal…read moreTire, Joe helped me work around my budget, while still making sure the important issues get fixed. I was lucky to have senior mechanic Ryan working on my rust bucket aswell. I got a diagnostic, and the next day was able to get the spark plugs and distributor cap replaced among other fixes. Ryan noticed that there is also a problem with the cylinders, and pulled a few other mechanics to try and resolve it. Ultimately I need another through test. Although shes still running rough, i'm glad to see the hard work this team put into helping me out. thank you all, i'll see you again soon
