The ability to park the car once and leave it for the couple of days was attractive. I couldn't be more pleased with our visit here. The Staff greeted us and was helpful throughout our stay, the historic building is beautiful and well maintained, the front porch has rocking chairs in a covered porch, and there's complimentary coffee in the mornings (and good coffee too!). The room isn't large, but is attractive, the bed was comfortable and the temperature controls worked well. There's a $15 breakfast buffet that we used once. It's typical eggs, potatoes, meats, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal/grits, and OJ. We went for breakfast a few doors down and spent $26 for 2 bagels and one coffee; I don't think this was an outrageous price at a nice hotel in a nice room with good service. There's an indoor pool that looked good, but we were busy and didn't get a chance to use it. The hotel truly is located in a great location. We ate within walking distance of a couple of good restaurants, and a few of the significant attractions are only steps away (although, be warned, the neighborhood is hilly!) The parking is $7.50 per night in a public lot attached to the building. They charge the parking to your room with in-out privileges.

I mentioned that to Ross at breakfast, and he prepared a basket with a coffee maker, hot water boiler, and coffee/cream for us. It was unexpected and delightful. When we visited, it was cold & rainy - so we appreciated our hot beverages. The location is great - right in the middle of downtown. We got a nice workout on the hilly streets of Staunton. Would definitely return!

At $75 this, to our surprise, was the cheapest rate for our doggo. If I didn't have his crate, bed and feeding station -- I said this is from a dog-owner's perspective! -- I wouldn't notice that the room is a bit smaller than other Hampton Inns. The property isn't new, with furniture somewhat dated. (Really 3.5 stars. Certainly not 4.) All I care about is cleanliness, comfort and water pressure, with this hotel meeting my requirements. As you can see in the photo there's a big grassy area where one can walk their dog. And people do! But, despite the convenience of a bag-and-disposal station, some people don't pick up after their four-legged friends, so you have to be careful where you walk! That drives me nuts. The hotel is conveniently situated off the highway and less than ten minutes from downtown Staunton, with its quaint shops and restaurants. There's a nice outdoor pool, currently drained. I'd stay here again.

We appreciate the friendly staff as well. We got a room on the fourth floor which meant we had to take the elevator to the third (it only goes to the third) and then take the stairs up. Well worth it, because on the fourth floor you see spiral stairs up to a lighthouse-like structure on the rooftop. Expansive view. The room itself was very quiet, well insulated, modern bath, everything. The only drawback was the very low water pressure (maybe due to being on the top floor? or is it like this throughout the building?). Bed was very comfy though this "queen bed" definitely seemed smaller than usual. At night it got quite cold; we were told the air heating raises 1 degree per hour (several hours passed and, according to the thermostat, nothing changed). Luckily the front desk provided us with a portable heater. While Hotel 24 may be more convenient, situated just next to the Blackfriars Theatre, the Blackburn Inn (just a quick drive under the railway track) is a world onto its own.

The coffee station had two regular coffees, a decaf coffee, an English breakfast tea, and a herbal tea. There were four to-go cups and four silverware sets that have sugar and powder creamer. The hotel itself has an indoor pool, which we did not use. A little store by the reception desk. It had snacks, drinks, frozen meals/desserts, and toiletries. There is a 24/7 coffee bar which also has hot chocolate and tea. The hotel also provided a breakfast buffet. The breakfast included: pancakes, muffins, breads, cereal, eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, fruit, apple juice, orange juice, etc. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

And then there are reasonably priced accommodations making up the vast majority of hotels like this particular Sleep Inn. These are the establishments we use during our domestic road trips. And this is a remarkable option conveniently located just off I-81, where a small degree of luxury can be experienced without braking the bank. Not usually an option with a burger. Their indoor-outdoor heated pool although not over large is very nice with seating both inside and out. Towels are available poolside. Breakfast is not included with the room. I am a tea drinker, and the restaurant graciously filled my travel mug with hot water for tea. Something they didn't have to do and I appreciate it. Things went very well for us here on our quick stop in Staunton.
