I'm surprised at the very few reviews given the variety of services Microcom provides. I've been a DISH customer for more than twenty years, and except for the consistently rising prices, I'd have to say I've been satisfied. I had a Microcom technician ( Renee ) bring me a new DISH receiver last month and we got to talking about Internet service. He recommended Starlink. I had never heard of Starlink but after some Internet research I decided to give them a try. For twenty years I've been using Verizon cellular connections. At first I was impressed but gradually over the years my service has been less and less impressive. Over the past few years my Verizon service has become less and less tolerable. The single issue is speed. My download speed is consistently between 1 and 2 mbs ( megabits per second ). On a good day, during off-peak hours, it might range between 4-7 mbs. On what's become a truly rare occasion it might hit 10 mbs, but I can't remember the last time it was that fast. And don't think the issue is with my equipment. I have a very strong cell signal booster installed. Between my wife and myself we have two cell phones, two Ipads, and three MiFis ( cellular modems ) and they all record the same speeds at any given time. I installed the Starlink system a few days ago. The install was relatively easy. Aiming the dish isn't a problem because the dish has motors that can rotate the dish and change its angle to the sky in order to optimize signal reception. For example, upon powering up, the dish immediately rotated 180 degrees and tilted back a little. I must have checked speeds twenty times in the past two days and the speeds I've experienced have ranged between a low of 95 mbs to a high of 175 mbs. The equipment cost is competitive ( around $500 ), the system is pretty 'slick', the quality of the hardware seems first rate, the monthly service charge is reasonable ( $120 per month ), at least given my Verizon alternative, there are no meaningful data limits ( 2 terabytes ), no contract, no cancellation penalty, and a thirty day, money back, guarantee, but the truth is that the reliable connection speed should be selling point enough. I got my Starlink equipment from Microcom in Hilo. The staff, both on the phone and in person, were all knowledgeable and very helpful. Renee is an outstanding technician and if you didn't feel up to doing the install yourself, I'm sure he'd do a great job. I couldn't be a more satisfied customer. This is one of those cases where I'd give Microcom and Starlink ten stars if I could. read more

I signed up for Direct TV April 2nd. I spent hours at the store then on the phone with a sale executive who quoted me prices and packages. When the onsite technician came to install they told me that I needed much more than I was told. Them worst part was that they said it would cost me 20.00 for installation and it was 90.00. They do not know what they are talking about and when I went back to confront the manger with the situation she did NOTHING. I would never recommend these people they do not know what they are doing. read more

I came here on Friday and the mall was busy and loud, I got helped by Kaimi and she was so friendly to me and my wife. We came to the mall like we do every other Friday to watch a movie and she stopped us to as who we have Internet with, I told her we live in HPP and we don't have Internet! She said "now you do" and showed us the plans with Exede. And how great they are and she has in in Volcano area. Thank you Kaimi...we highly recommend!!! read more

I am stuck in a 2-year contract with the worse internet provider on island. When my husband switched to Exede from Verizon, we were told that we would have much better service than with Verizon. In fact, their web site says that Exede Internet is the leader in the satellite internet industry, in both performance, speed and reliability. This is far from the truth. I am a distance learning student and have had to drive back into town more often than I can count in order to attend class because their Internet service has dropped me from my classes or I have not even been able to connect to my online classes. I have not even been able to conduct a Ping test because I can't even get to a decent web site. My husband has called for assistance only to be told to shut down the system and reboot. That has not fixed the problem. We are now having to use our cell phones as hot spots in order to get online. I have left an email on their contact web page and not gotten any response. I have emailed them directly to complain and have not received any communication back from any representative. I can honestly say that using Exede via Microcom is worse than dial-up and can't wait until the nightmare is over in two years. read more

When I learned on Jan 23 that a shutoff had been scheduled for Jan 31 (a limited, 3-hour window that happens maybe a few times a year), I contacted Drain Man immediately--speaking with the office manager and following up the same day by both text and email with full details. (These communications had concluded by 1:15 p.m.) By 11:30 a.m. Monday morning I hadn't heard back. When I called again, (the call rolled over from the office directly to the plumber, who said he was on his back underneath someone's sink), I was told nothing was scheduled and was asked for the work details again, despite having already provided them. When I expressed concern about the multiple provisions of the details--given the tight timing--the conversation was ended abruptly by the plumber ("I'm busy"). This experience suggested organizational and communication issues. That impression was reinforced by the fact that my landlord had also been waiting on an electronic invoice from the December visit and still hadn't received it by Jan. 12. Bottom line: if you're judging purely on workmanship, I have no complaints. But if timely communication, clear scheduling, and not having to repeat yourself matter to you, this may not be the right fit.

I was in search of a move-out cleaning for my ohana rental and needed a reliable, reputable company to take on the job. I found Five Star Cleaners, and Jade sent an amazing cleaner named Chelsea, who did a fantastic job on a small test area. That experience gave me confidence in their quality of work. As a homeowner, I'm careful when hiring service providers -- especially when I'm not going to be physically present -- so I planned this cleaning a full month in advance. We scheduled a team of 4 cleaners, at $120/hr, for roughly 3-5 hours. Everything was confirmed: my proxy (a trusted friend) would be there in my place as I would be off-island, and multiple cleanings were lined up. A week before the job, I checked in with Jade to confirm everything and asked for a detailed list of what the cleaning would include (e.g. baseboards, windows inside and out, cabinets, full deep clean, etc.). I also mentioned I'd like the invoice to clearly reflect the services for documentation purposes -- in case anything came up with my tenant's security deposit and I needed it for small claims. That's when Jade suddenly became uncomfortable and said this was "concerning." I clarified that I wasn't threatening legal action or involving her in a dispute -- I simply needed a clear invoice, as any homeowner would, to show a judge the unit had been professionally deep-cleaned (as required by my lease). I explained this is standard procedure, and no liability or risk would fall on her or her team. Just a paper trail. However, Jade insisted she didn't want to be "caught in any legal crossfire" and pulled out of the job entirely, just one week before the scheduled date, leaving me scrambling just days before I was scheduled to leave the island. She refused to speak on the phone to clarify things or resolve the misunderstanding. All communication abruptly stopped. To make matters worse, Jade then blocked me on Facebook and all other communication channels, presumably to avoid accountability and prevent a negative review -- rather than taking ownership or having a respectful conversation as an informed and professional business owner should. That behavior alone speaks volumes. This last-minute cancellation was a major inconvenience and unnecessary stress, especially after a month of coordination. I had trusted this company to follow through -- and instead, they dropped out without any real attempt to problem-solve. That is not professional in my opinion. To be clear, I don't wish Jade or her business any harm -- but I do not consider this company reputable based on this experience. In Hawaiʻi, where it's already difficult to find trustworthy cleaning services, this situation only made things harder. If you're a homeowner or property manager needing reliable, professional, and communicative service -- I would encourage you to look elsewhere. This wasn't it.

The Lady she sent was also courteous and professional addressing every corner of the house and quietly doing a thorough job. The house was left strikingly clean with no over scented smell of the disinfectants used like most others do. Yet there was a clean pleasant smell and clean looking place that she left.

Very sorry that I switched from Aloha Broadband to 'Exede Internet'. I happily paid the cancellation fee of over $300 to get away from this company (Exede). I am back with Aloha Broadband and am paying less for faster internet. read more
