I would go there on my lunch break when I used to work in the area. Even after I started working farther away, I would still take a weekly trip to Mickey's. I researched on Yelp the nearest place that has Chicago dogs. A lot of places came up but I decided to go with Mickeys. I didn't notice the "drive in" but I parked and went inside. The place were pretty packed inside with people dining in. The service was very quick and I didn't wait long. My hot dog was so delicious just how I like it. I like that they put a hot pepper on it which gave it an extra touch. The bread was good and the fries that came with the hot dog was good. I like that they give the small fries...my favorite! I would definitely return here. Fast service even when busy and the workers were polite. Next time I am in Illinois I will be paying a visit to Mickeys! read more

Unfortunately their chili has beans and they use pump cheese sauce under the chili. I prefer shredded cheese and no beans. Pretty decent fries, not fresh cut, reminiscent of McD's in size. After a short wait in line I was able to place my order and, in approximately one minute, I had my lunch paid for and food in my hand. That's fast! Not only is the staff speedy in preparation but they are friendly and inviting. This is the kind of spot that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. The menu offers a wide array of eats but I went with the obvious choice: a two hot dog lunch special that comes with fries. I had to add a drink on top of it but still left paying just under nine dollars total - heck of a deal! Chicago hot dogs, does it get any better in the world of encased meat? Mickey's makes a mean one too - all the right fixin's. To top it off, they're fries, while not my favorite - I like the fresh-cut with some skin on them, are very tasty and perfectly cooked. this place must pay off the health inpsector. food is terrible, Im guesisng they re heat food that didnt sell the day before, frys that sit in a "warrming" tray for a few days before use cause they are cold and gross. employees handle money then go right back to making food without washing thier hands, and they dont wear any gloves. order a pizza puff, outside was soggy and the inside was still cold,for sure not cooked properly. why anyone would want to pay for food here is beyond me. read more

Local joint that has been here forever and just does it right. Great 'beef stand' that has all the Chicago favorites-Hot Dogs, Italian Beef, meatballs and sausage. Food is great and the prices are better. I like that the person that takes your order also makes it and takes your money. I think this leads to less mistakes and getting what you came in for. Admittedly we don't go here enough as there are other places that are closer, but if you got the craving you can have a great meal and feed the family without breaking the bank. I would consider myself a bit of a hot dog connoisseur and I have got to say that I have tried all the dawgs in the Villa Park area... and keep finding myself back here. Can't go wrong with the classic Vienna beef 2 dog special, however, their other food here is pretty good as well. Mickey's has been in the area for awhile and is a family owned restaurant with fair prices. I have seen plenty of new staff come in and out of here and all of them have been friendly and attentive. I tend to always take my food home to eat, but I have eaten inside a few times and have never had a bad experience. The place is well-maintained and bigger than most other hot dog drive-ins I have been to. If the weather is nice, they have a few tables to sit at outside. The one and ONLY negative thing I have to say about this place is that, in my opinion, the fries are not my favorite. I'll happily eat them all with my meal, however, I am more of a fresh-cut fry kinda girl and their fries are comparable to McDonald's. Anyhow, if you're looking for a quick, greasy bite - check out this place for sure! I know they're famous for their beefs and dogs (Vienna Beef Hall of Fame inductee), but today I gotta major jones for their Sloppy Joes. Yeah, I know you don't see old fashioned grub like this at very many fast food establishments these days. For a decent Sloppy Joe you will either have to make it yourself or visit a more traditional old school diner. At Mickeys the sandwich is ample, tasty and *very* satisfying. I ordered the "Sloppy Joe Double, Fries, Medium Drink" combo ($8.40) and shared it with a friend. Note: a "Double" means two sandwiches in this particular combo meal. So yes, it's still possible for two people to indulge in *excellent* junk food for less than 5 bucks each and not have to download a burger chain app. I'm happy and muh belly is full-up till dinnertime! I have to mention Mickey's is over 60 years in business and run by the same Italian family into the fourth generation now. Needless to say, this genuine mom 'n pop shop excels at every level of food service in this category. Walk in, you're greeted with friendly service, a smile and the unmistakable aroma of Vienna Beef hot dogs wafting aloft. What could be better? No seating here; only stand-up counters. Absolutely no complaints about that. You're gonna be in 'n out quick anyway if you're dining in as I did today. One thing I miss... the old payphone they used to have near the entrance. Their seating is plenty, they have indoor seating which is nice and comfy, and their outdoor seating is the one I liked. They have umbrellas and a round table. Very huge place. They also have a parking lot right at the front of the place. Customers can easily park their cars. Their location is very accessible and they are also near other well-known spots. My wife and I have been eating here (or taking out) for nearly four years and never once, NEVER, have we been disappointed. I made a return visit to Mickey's and figured now is as good of a time as any to do a review update. Mickey's makes a first class quality Chicago style Hot Dog. They have a two hot dog special for $4.30 you get two hot dogs each with fries. The hot dogs you get have a soft but not mushy poppy seed bun, a well steamed dog and just the right amount of mustard, relish and onions. The optional sport peppers aren't too hot and compliment the dog nicely, the pickle they use is cut nice and thin and is long enough so you get pickle in every bite. As mentioned these come wrapped in french fries, these are thin but relatively low on grease and not too salty fries. The fries have a crisp outside but a nice potato paste inside, these fit very well with the hot dog they serve. The only real thing to note about Mickey's is that they have somewhat limited hours, they're open Monday-Saturday until 8:30, they're not open Sundays. In both of my recent visits the food has been outstanding. I highly recommend it. read more

Cheaper than Portillo's, which costs $2.85 each w/o fries at the St. Charles location. Italian beef ($4.65, peppers $0.40) - 4.25 stars. Their beef is more thickly cut than Johnnie's ($4.15, peppers $0.35), would get again. Service has been consistently fast & efficient. I've seen the owner a few times working during the lunchcrunch. Mickey's is a quintessential neighborhood hot dog place, one of the best I've been to, along with some other well-known spots in the city. The hot dogs are great -- just as you would expect from a Chicago hot dog joint. Perfect, juicy, and satisfying. The two hot dogs and fries for less than $5 is an awesome deal. So worth it. The handful of fries wrapped with the dogs are delicious too (but need a little more salt, in my opinion). Why bother getting anything else? Mickey's also offers Italian beef sandwiches, chicken, etc; but I just cared about the hot dogs. Service was great. Quick; and they made sure we got what we wanted. Oh, and have some little ones?
