I was looking forward to trying this place since I felt my neighborhood needed a healthy spot, but it's safe to say I won't come back. I'm not gonna lie, the food isn't terrible, but the service I received deserves zero stars. I excitedly checked-in on yelp, and wasn't granted my glass of "free wine". Let me also mention I was the only one out of my group who even requested it or knew about it. The waitress said she didn't know what the offer meant. I showed her my yelp screen and she looked confused, yet there was nobody else she could ask in the entire place. OKAY? I ordered the tequenos which took nearly 25 minutes to arrive to the table- unacceptable. They were warm and pretty good, but not worth the wait. I also ordered the tuna poke bowl as my entree, which tasted simply okay, but it arrived after 45 minutes. I've had better before. Needless to say I spent more than an hour on my lunch break. If the idea of the place is to be healthy and a go-to restaurant, their service needs to step up a notch. I didn't appreciate the waiter's attitude, nor desire to help us, so I'm turned off. In terms of pricing, I don't mind paying more money for QUALITY food, but this is a place that does not welcome me to come back. A word of advice: train your employees about the promotions you offer, but most importantly, about having a nice attitude regarding how bad their day could be. We're all humans, but... I second the comments about the bad service. This is one of the few times I have to give the lowest rating. I'm very forgiving and give more than one chance. But it just seems that there is zero effort being put in here and that they simply don't care. The first time I went they had just opened up not too long ago. I was pregnant and motivated to eat as healthy as possible to nourish my baby. That's the reason I went to a healthy place. The waitresses weren't very nice. I had to ask for water and had to get the attention. To top it off, the restaurant was out of the dish I wanted AND the two alternatives I asked for. My hubby ended up ordering a pizza that I tried. It was pretty pricey. I was upset that I went to a health restaurant for fresh and healthy food and ended up eating an overpriced pizza. My second experience there wasn't much better. I was in the mood for something sweet and stopped by to buy one of their protein desserts. I wasn't really greeted or anything. When I placed my order, the girl at the counter was like: "that's it?" and then just took my payment without saying thank you or anything. At some point she placed a brown bag on the counter. She didn't tell me it's my order nor did she hand it to me. I asked her if that's mine and she was like: yeah yeah. No goodbye or thank you. Today was my third and last experience there. My husband and I wanted to order dinner and I suggested trying them again. Their grub hub ordering was down so I called them directly. The phone operator gave me the option to pick English or Spanish. I picked English. The guy who picked up answered in Spanish. I spoke English to him and he just hung up on me. I assume it's because I didn't speak Spanish which by the way I am able to if he would have said a word. We called back and this time a girl answered. We told her in Spanish that we would like to place an order for delivery. She told us to hold for a second. We were on hold for 10 minutes! At some point we were taken off of the hold (the music stopped and we heard the noise of the restaurant) but no one spoke to us. We tried to say: hello? several times. They either forgot or didn't care but the fact is that I have rarely seen such poor customer service. I decided to take my business elsewhere and we placed a big order at a different restaurant. Typically I wouldn't be over in Doral, but a foodie friend told me about Michi's and I discovered the new City Place so I think I'll be in the area bit more :) We went to Michi's for breakfast on a Saturday. Such a quaint little space and it has parking which is really exciting coming from Downtown. I started with the pineapple, mango, and lime 'Happy' smoothie and it was perfect first thing in the morning. Hubban and I shared two empanadas, one chicken and one beef. They're whole wheat and light without all the oiliness from most empanadas. For my main, I had the avoegg arepa and it was all I could have wanted. Light, fresh, and filling. Hubben opted for the power pancakes. 3 fluffy cakes topped with fresh fruits and so much healthier than your normal pancakes since they're made with protein powder. I've been to Michi's twice now and was very satisfied with both visits. Each time I was there I was able to try several dishes because I usually share plates with someone else just to try a bit of everything. On my first visit I tried the Berryme juice made with blueberry, strawberry and lime. It was very refreshing and could stand alone as a mid-morning snack. Then my friend and I shared the Ceviche Toston. The plantains were toasted and just a bit crispy. I loved the light marinade on the Ceviche and felt like the ingredients were kept minimal to stay within Michi's healthy vibe. For my main dish I ordered the Reina arepa. It's basically like an avocado and chicken salad. Michi's makes it creamy and the arepas are made from corn, quina and oatmeal--all good sources of beneficial nutrients. If you're going for the healthier version of the arepa, this one does it! When I went back to Michi's for a second time I ordered the Ceviche over brown rice. It was very tangy--lots of lemon, but I love that! I really enjoy a citrus forward Ceviche dish. I'd definitely order this again. The times I've visited Michi's have been the early afternoon so I didn't experience the lunch traffic. I would recommend arriving earlier for lunch because it is Doral and there's tons of people going in and out for lunch in the area. The restaurant is intimate with a few tables, colorfully decorated with playful wall decals. The menu offers a nice variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options all with health in mind. I chose to start with the tuna poke tostones. These were so good! The tuna was fresh, full of flavor, with pieces of mango, avocado and scallions. The tostones were crisp perfection. I paired it with their homemade lemonade which they sweeten with your choice of sweetener. For my main dish I ordered the lomo saltado bowl. It comes served over brown rice and is cooked with tomatoes, peppers and onions in a delicious soy sauce. This was also very delicious, even better is that it doesn't leave you feeling heavy, the portion size is great and the ingredients you can just tell are fresh. Then came dessert. The torta michis is amazing! I have had other protein based sweets and you can usually taste the powder but not on this cake! It comes with a berry filling and is made with almond flour and other secret ingredients that just make for such a yummy sweet ending. Michi's was recommended by my trainer and it lived up to all the hype, plus the healthiness! I headed straight there with another one of my trainer's clients right after our session. We "pigged" out on the red velvet protein waffle. I ordered he eggs fancy style for myself - which came with 2 poached eggs, a (delicious!) multigrain croissant, -and sliced avocado. My friend got the poke bowl. Their menu is extensive and I could have kept eating all day. Everything is adapted to fit a healthy lifestyle but still make you feel like you're indulging. The reason I'm giving them three stars is because there were only maybe 8 tables with 4-5 servicers available and yet I still felt abandoned. The place is small and was not crowded when I showed up. My waiter only spoke to me once to take my order. What couldve been a 30 minute sit down turned out to be a 1 hour experience (mind you I was on my lunch break from work). I was also dissapointed at the fact that they didnt have any blueberry cheesecake left and that's what I was so excited to try. In any case their food (the one dish I had) was really good, however the service is whats making me question whether I will be back. Let me start this review by saying the food here is actually great. I've had the lomo saltado and smoothies and they're great... BUT everything else about this place is problematic. They are understaffed and have way too many orders for such a small kitchen. I was went in to pick up food and it took OVER AN HOUR because they were so busy. They had like three waiters and all three were trying to serve, clean tables, makes smoothies, juices and even fulfill delivery orders. In the end we werent so bothered by the wait time because the lomo saltado we got was actually really good and a generous serving (which I expect if I'm paying 13 dollars). I decided to do UberEats the second time around in order to avoid waiting and got my order delivered to my work in a timely manner... BUT the lomo saltado I ordered came in the TINIEST CONTAINER I have ever seen. Last time I ordered I got so much of the meat and rice and this time around I got a TINY BOWL and got charged the same thing. I submitted a complaint to Uber to get some sort of refund or compensation. I'm okay with paying 13 dollars for a bowl but not okay to pay it again when the portion is almost half the size. So they close at 9pm and if you call past 8:30 they don't answer phone calls, what a way to lose business! My point here is.. some of the food is great. For an overpriced açaí bowl ($15) you get 6 blueberries and ONE cut up strawberry. I asked for a some more fruits because I consider this enough toppings for $15 and they said it would be extra which is fine but they gave me ONE more extra strawberry as well as 4 more blueberries... if I pay extra for something I better get more than that. I love michi's So I read the reviews and I really don't know why people complain so much. This is not a fast food place, not a bar or cheap food. This is a restaurant that makes healthy food, therefore, it takes time to prepare! I don't think we waited an unreasonable amount of time and the service was good. Now I've had way better service than what I received here but sincerely it was fine. The server was helpful and knowledgeable so what else do I need from a healthy joint? Let me tell you about the empanadas! Omg they are delicious! I was skeptic to order them cause I'm used to the greasy heavenly Colombian empanadas and i didn't think I would like a healthy version. The food is outstanding and guilt free! I had the tequenos, aka, the best Venezuelan hors d'oeuvre in the world, and the tune poke. The second was very fresh, filling and with an amazing flavor. I've tried the pancakes and waffles before; they're also delicious AND you can order it anytime of the day (because who doesn't love breakfast for dinner ). The staff was very friendly and service is fast. The owner was also very friendly and she stopped by every table to make sure everyone was satisfied, you can tell she's extremely passionate about her place! I was on a work break and was in the mood for a good poke bowl. This was a short break, so I didn't have enough time to drive to the usual poke spot, but i figured i would give michi's a shot since a coworker had ordered from there before and their food looked colorful and tasty. I ordered a salmon poke bowl to go. After a 25(!) minute wait, i got back to work a few minutes late and found that my salmon tasted... not so fresh. I had some coworkers taste it to be sure that it wasn't just me, and all of us concluded it didn't taste right and was very likely not fresh, but it was just so drenched in sauce that we weren't quite sure. I picked out the freshest looking pieces and ate my disappointing bowl, getting more depressed with each overpriced bite until I tossed it about halfway through. I sat around for a while totally grossed out and decided to look through yelp reviews for this place. Ive had a couple of times that it has been disappointing and it prevented me from going regularly and from giving them a review, as I usually give places several opportunities keeping in mind that everyone has bad days. So here is what has happened: Once, i orded the food through @ubereats and it was so salty i had to throw it away the way i bought it, i tried contacting Michis but they said they are extremely careful with how they handle salt ‍. So they told me to speak with @ubereats Ubereats. Another time i put an order to pick-up and was given a different order and told I ordered wrong. Another time, i went with a friend, her plate took about 30 min, mine never arrived. After my friend was already finishing her plate is when i was told they ran out of the ingredients for the dish I ordered. Bottom line, they do have good food and a cool concept. PLEASE read this review before coming here. I gave it two stars because to me the food is good. It's healthy and does the job. And note I never leave reviews based on customer service, because as long as people are descent, and the restaurant cares for the customers I'm good. I'm not that picky. BUT hear this, I made an order for 3 empanadas, chicken, beef and ricotta for pick up. I picked them up, and left. after biting into them I realized they gave me all 3 of ricotta. Fine, I drove all the back to get my order right, when I told the girl "nicol" her response was oh yeah because they ran out of the other ones. Sooo wouldn't you think she would tell me that beforehand, If she knew this already?? or maybe when I picked up the order??? Nope! Anyway then she said, would you like to change it for something else, I said sure I'll get some tequenos. I mean not what I wanted but I get things happen. I was ok. But after ALL that, she didn't let me leave until I paid an extra $2.50 for the difference. It's not the miserable $2 it's the fact that after giving me the wrong order, knowingly, after I drove all the way back, etc instead of the restaurant eating that $2 to try and maybe make something up to the customer, they made sure I was charged for it. Came here for a treat and found some great acai bowls! The servers were friendly, and the ambiance was light- perfect for a quick weekend detour. The acai wasn't overly sweet, and it had good flavor (not dilute like some other places we've tried). The fruit on top was very fresh, and the serving size was fair. I tasted it while being charged, and I was fine with it. When I got my bill, for what is supposed to be $7.25 for the Arepa, plus tax... I wasbin absolute SHOCK to see a "Service" fee of $1.05 WHO CHARGES A SERVICE FEE for takeout of 1 item?? I was so upset, as the excuse was ( Oh the system is set that way) this was the answer from the server.
