average customer service have to verify service request several times after initial request was made clear. small orders take 2 to 3 months. can not sustain mill workers. for small orders you can save a lot of uncertainty and frustration by dealing with a big box store. read more

The ONLY place to buy good-quality lumber. Forget Home Depot: they wouldn't know a good piece of lumber if it bit them. We have a beautiful Michigan cherry countertop they made us, and they special-ordered sugar pine for us for our fireplace mantle. Great local lumberyard. Im not sure why some people are complaining about them. This is a place for Contractors. Home owners are welcome to shop as well, but there main clientele is contractors. This business had a few positive reviews here and at Google so I gave them a shot. Looking back, I think many of these may have been placed by related parties as they contained no specifics and only overall praise for the company. I called them on an interior door that I am trying to match to existing doors last week. The fellow took my info and called back the next day saying it couldn't be done (1 panel with cove and bead sticking). When I suggested that a mill could custom make the sticking, he allowed as that was possible but would take more time and would call the next day. Several days came and went with no call so I went in. Saw the guy at the counter, who remembered my call but couldn't find his notes. Although four days or more had lapsed, he still hadn't talked to his custom trim guy but do so later that day. When I asked if he could call the guy in now, he admitted that he wasn't there. So the guy promised again to call me yesterday. This morning I called Man Lumber in Canton, and they take 2 minutes to tell me they could get the exact door. So finally the guy from Michigan lumber called, to tell me their price was 25% higher and the trim would come separate from door (i.e. I would have to install it). There are two problems with this performance. One is the obviously poor customer service. Two is the high price without even giving me an option for them to install the sticking. Do I look like a lumber mill/door manufacturer? I'll be driving to Canton for my lumber needs, for sure. read more
