I recently contacted Michigan Bat Control about servicing my cabin up north. I was told that they do service my area and that a rep would contact me for particulars. I called here because I keep hearing something in my wall. It was already determined by prior people that nothing was in my attic. This is the 3rd company that has come out. I made an appointment and they came out. The guy was nice and I directed him to my attic. He found nothing. He did go on the roof unlike other companies and checked atound the perimeter. Nothing. He told me my house looked tight and great and the best thing to do was get mesh installed near the small openings around the roof. Whatever it is may be squeezing through. The price was the biggest negative. 1400 sticker shock. Not today but thanks. There was no charge for the visit. Hopefully I will find out what this elusive pest is one day. read more

I am disappointed with this company with our bird problem and I would not recommend. Summary: It wasn't humane, they lied to my neighbor, and I thought it was quite expensive. When they came to assess the situation, they said they would install the 1 way doors on our bath vents. I had asked what happens with the babies inside? He told me they would be old enough to fly out. I thought that was a great solution. We also had 8 roof eases that needed to be sealed, along with 2 vents. Total cost of $1100. It is my fault for not shopping around, but I was afraid of any damage that had happened. Maybe that is the going rate, but I thought it was a lot. 2 days after installing the 1 way doors, 3 baby birds were stuck inside it. The mom kept trying to get them out, and I was afraid she would knock it down. We tried ourselves, but we didn't have a latter high enough. I called the company and left a message asking them to get the baby birds out so they don't die in there. And check if the door was still secure since it was crooked. I also message them on FB. I got a response on FB that said the soonest anyone could come out was Tues (this was a Saturday). I was upset the birds had to die that way. I then thought that meant someone would come out that Tuesday. And I was out of town for work that entire week. Much to my dismay, the dead birds were still stuck and rotting in there. I never received a phone call back. By that point, I had my door removal the following week, so we left it at that. The other problem with leaving those birds there that long was that we had a ton of flies in our house. Now that it's been removed, no more flies. But during the week I was away at work, my neighbor across the street was having the same bird issue. She asked who we used. I sent her the web address and phone number. She called them, and was told they don't service that area. Even after telling them how they did our house across the street. And the website says Macomb as well. I figured they must have been so busy, but it was no need to lie to my neighbor. So all of that left a bad taste in my mouth. It was my fault for not shopping around, and assuming they were coming to check out the door that Tues. To be fair, they were friendly, professional, and quick to come out initially. But this was very disappointing to me. read more

Hired these fine folks to get rid of bats in a Brighton rental house in 2016 that were terrifying the renter!! He was scarred stiff of these docile little creatures. They plugged all their access holes and put in a one way "bat chute" that allows the bats to exit the building at night, as they do every evening; but does not allow them to get back in. So all the bats leave and they never come back. No poisons, no pesticides, no traps; they just fly away and don't come back. They guarantee their results for a full 5 years. Good, honest and humane people. They get rid of the bats, but do not destroy them in the process. A fine company that I highly recommend!! read more

After receiving news that evidence of bats were found in our attic during a routine home inspection, I contacted Michigan Bat Control, and though I called later in the evening, I was given a consultation appointment for the next day! Joe and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and delivered excellent customer service! The issue was immediately identified and remediated with a high level of attention to detail. MBC also provided a transferable, 5-year warranty. I would and will be recommending MBC to anyone who encounters wildlife invasion issues! They did not show for the appointment I made ahead of time for a skunk removal in my yard --- apparently an error on their end when they changed scheduling systems --- however they wouldn't fit me in for another week after instead of trying to make-up for their mistake. read more

We had MBC to our house this past August. They charged around $600 to remove the bats from our home. They require half down up front to get started on their job. We scheduled to have the job done and they came out when I was at work. When I came home there was a tag on the door. I could see they installed a one way bat door on the roof. It was barely noticeable though. Later that night my husband and I watched as the bats flew out the one way door and circled around our home. We noticed them trying to get back in but thanks to the technicians who came out all of the spots were sealed. To this day we don't have any more bats. read more

We were optimistic that our critter problem would be resolved by this company but have been extremely disappointed. We were assured they would keep working until the issue was resolved ......First, a nice - but apparently junior -- technician came out and advised us there was no doubt we having flying squirrels. We were skeptical but thought the traps he laid would catch something. We repeatedly had difficulties in scheduling follow-ups because the phone went straight to the answering service (no matter what time we called). When the technician finally returned to check the traps - they were all empty. The noise continued. After another round of checking the traps -- with different bait -- they were still empty. We were then advised that we have mice - not flying squirrels - but that the problem would be taken care of. We decided not to pay the final installment until the problem was in fact resolved (no results after a month). A technician showed up at our house without notice early one morning to "check the traps" but would not set foot in the house without the remaining payment (less than 25% of the total). We said "no" to this threatening tactic. This was a terrible experience -- Hi Joe, I understand you wouldn't like my review, but the fact that your technician insisted we had "flying squirrels," didn't capture a single animal, the issue remains unresolved speaks for itself. I have to say I am very disappointed in this company. They did respond, right away, to my request for information on removing squirrels from our home. It is very difficult to reach them by phone although they do respond quickly via email. A little strange but okay. The technician came to the house - late - and took a look around. He mentioned, several times, that they were, primarily, a bat removal company. He gave me an estimate for $350 and said to call the office to schedule an appointment to return and take care of the problem. I did and made it for a week out. I have been sitting here all day and have received no call from the guy. I did get a call from Brooke, the office manager, saying that she could not reach Brad but assured me he would arrive. My appointment window was from 8-10am today. It's 4pm and still no sight - nor a call - from the company. Perhaps they should stick to bat removal.. As for me, I will move on and now have another weekend of "activity" in my attic space to look forward to. Steer clear of this company. They do not have the ability to follow through. P.S. Right after I sent an email to the company saying "no thanks" I did get a call from Brooke (about 4:30pm) and I told her that I was going with another company. The next day I received an email from the company owner, Joe Willis, offering a half off deal and that he would come and do the work himself. I declined the offer. Another company has been hired and they are coming out with TWO guys to do the job. MWS was willing to put a solo guy on the roof and did not require me to be at home when the job was done. MY EXPERIENCE: I hired them to help with a mouse problem I had. It was a little bumpy with scheduling in the beginning but aside from that, they exceeded my expectations. Eric came out and inspected the inside and outside of the house - he found the entry point, fixed it, and set traps to deal with the mice that were already in the attic and crawl space. It took a few return trips to get everything taken care of, but I am now mouse-free. PROS: * Professional: Eric and Brooke were both very professional. * Fair & Knowledgeable: I feel that the pricing was very reasonable - an inspection, repairs, and trapping existing mice for a few hundred dollars. Eric was knowledgeable about mice and did a great job with the repairs. He also made recommendations to help keep the mice out, most were things I could do my self. I feel that they did high quality work at a low cost. * No Poison: I initially chose this company because they do not use poison, the absolute dumbest "solution" to a mouse problem I can imagine. Mice see poison pellets as food, so by putting them around your house you are attracting them. Then when they do ingest the poison and eventually die, they are either rotting away in your home or they become a poison-filled treat for your pets or non-pest wildlife. Not to mention that poison kills mice very slowly, so they die a drawn-out, painful death. This never made sense to me, and I was pleased to see that MI Bat focuses on sealing entrances and using other preventative measures to actually stop mice from entering the home instead of just continually attracting and poisoning them. CON: * Scheduling: This is the only area I had a bit of trouble with. I initially tried scheduling over the phone and found that it was much easier and faster through email. This was not enough of an issue for me to take a star away. I mentioned it to Eric and he said they were actively working to improve scheduling, and I never had any issues after that. I would definitely recommend contacting them via email. BOTTOM LINE: I was very impressed with this company. They did a great job and will be my first call if I ever have any other pest issues. I live in Florida and have a rental property in MI so I wanted to use a company I could trust. All interactions with the employees was quick and knowledgeable. We had a home inspection when selling our house and they found bat droppings in the attic. Our home inspector recommend Michigan Bat Control. So we called and they came out to our home to do a further inspection. They confirmed we had bats in the attic. Although the service was more expensive than we were expecting the service was great. The tech who came to our home was knowledgeable and very understanding of our concerns. We didn't like the fact we had to shell out almost $1,500 before we sold our home, but in the end knowing our home will be sold bat free and with a transferable 5 year warranty made the experience a much better process. read more

Do not use this company! The don't know what they are doing or provide customer service. Spend your money elsewhere. The Technician was not certain if there was evidence of an old bat problem or a new bat problem but we signed up for a bat exclusion anyway. He only spent about 45 min inspecting and covering holes in the roof-line and adding (20 one way doors(tubes). We paid half the fee then immediately starting receiving invoices stating the balance was due because the work was done but to us it wasn't done. To me the job isn't done until they come back and confirm the bats are gone and remove the bat doors so we told them we would pay when the work was done so they threatened to file a lawsuit against us without even calling us to discuss our concerns. It took us contacting them several times to come out and finish the work and when they did show up, they removed the 2 bat doors and left globs of caulk all over the siding so we called them to come back. Nobody came on the scheduled day, then a few days later a technician showed up, unexpected, and proceeded to scrap the caulk off the siding ALONG with the paint on the trim! read more

We have been using Michigan Bat Control for 4 years and we are thoroughly pleased with their service! We have a 3 story older house ( over 100 years old). This company is quick to respond when they have a potential customer lined up, but if you have an issue they are extremely unresponsive, and if you can finally get through to someone they are rude, full of excuses, and unwilling to help make things right. Basically their customer service is terrible and they are only out to take your money and forget about you. Also their price quotes are VERY different and they will try to tell you it is based on the size of the houses, level of danger, level of work needed... and on and on with excuses. Our house is larger than the house that we referred to them, and the house that we referred to them had more work done and is bigger and also two stories and they were charged $525 LESS than us and they had MORE work done!! We contacted Michigan Bat Control and Wildlife Solutions when we had an odor in our half bathroom. A technician came out to do an assessment and suggested that we start on a rodent control program. He states that this would consisit of him setting traps in our attic and returning every week for a total of 4 visits to reset the traps and remove any dead mice. He said that 50% of payment was due at the first visit and the other 50% would be due after the 4th visit. We agreed and he got to work. He set traps and said he would return next week. He came the next week and reset the traps. That was the last that we heard from him or the company. He did not return for the 3rd and 4th week. The odor was gone so we thought the problem was taken care of. Fast forward 4 months and the company is sending us a bill for the remaining $175. I called them to discuss and they stated that their contract says that payment is due in full within 30 days and does not require that all work be done to collect payment. I asked if they would send someone out for the remaining 2 visits and they said no. They also said that in the contract it states that if you give a bad review it will null and void your warranty. Stay away from this company!!! Requiring payment for work that is not completed and voiding warranties based on reviews tells me they are about the money and not providing quality service. Also wanted to mention that the 2 times the technician did come he did not catch a single mouse. read more

Don't walk, RUN away from Michigan Bat Control!!! Their office manager, Brooke, is rude, as is their manager (maybe owner? Not sure.). After we had the techs out the first time, we had two other issues with bats in 2014. Having the 5 year warranty included in the work we had done, we had to pay for an annual inspection or it would void the warranty. So in spring 2015 we paid and had them come out for an inspection. The tech was there for all of 10 minutes and said everything looked good and that he added caulk in one place. We had another bat. Despite having the warranty AND having them out in the spring for the inspection, it took 10 days before anyone would come out. We stated, in writing, that we wanted a phone call 30 minutes before the tech was to arrive at our 2-5pm appointment window so that I could be home, suddenly the tech had come and gone before 10am, and we were not notified until AFTER we had to contact MBC to ask if the tech was going to show up for the appointment that day. Brooke replied, "Our technician wrote that he talked with someone at the house while he was there but it looks like he installed a one way door and sealed a few spots but didn't see any signs of the bats getting back in. " After doing a walk around the perimeter we were unable to find the one way door. After asking for further information and updates, we waited another 4 days before being told "Our tech installed a one way door on the roof. You can't see it from the ground. He also sealed above one of the gutters where the roof and siding meet and he caulked around some metal sheeting on the roof. " This was alarming A) because they purposely did not contact us and allow us to be present at the time they were there, B) didn't provide an update that they had, in fact, been there, until AFTER we had to contact them to find out what was going on, and C) are describing things that didn't happen ("talked to someone at the house" - no one was there. "Sealed above one of the gutters where theroof and the siding meet." - there is not siding on our home, it's all brick.). It's like they went to an entirely different home and claimed it was ours. After more exchanges we're informed a tech will be out 30 days later to seal off the door. We had to follow up with MBC, again. We emailed. Brooke replies, "Yes. We will get a tech out there as soon as we're back in your area. Most likely sometime next week. I'm not sure.. I've never seen your house or the opening so I really couldn't say. Log homes often shift and create new openings so maybe it wasn't open at that time. " Again, our home does not have siding nor is it a log home. It's a brick house. Another 2 weeks go by with no updated. Again we email, requesting an update. "We will have a technician back out to remove the one way door sometime next week as soon as we're in the area." Another 10 days go by and no further response, so again we have to contact them for an update (are you seeing the trend here???). Brooke says, "Update on what exactly? Ive answered all of your emails with updates. I replied to your last email saying we would have a technician out to remove the one way doors as soon as we were in the area the following week and we were out this past Monday. The doors were removed and the areas sealed off permanently." We replied and received Brooke's response: "We do work all the the time when customers are not home because it is all done from the outside and our customers would rather us take care of it without them home rather than them having to take a day off of work in order to be there. I emailed you on Oct. 21st saying our technician would be out the following week... giving you a heads up.. and we were out that Monday so you did relieve notice and we did communicate that we were going to be out to your home. You did not specify that you wanted to be home or wanted a call when our tech was on his way. Either way our field manager will call you this weekend." Surprise, surprise. No call this weekend. The lack of professionalism here is appalling. I have been in customer service roles for years, and I am shocked and embarrassed by the way this company conducts itself. If I could give a more negative rating, I would without question. Not only would I not ever recommend them to anyone else, but I caution ANYONE considering using them to RUN in the other direction. There are many more professional companies out there, deserving of your hard earned dollars. Advice to the owner(s): Invest in Idiot's Guide to Customer Service. Make sure your Office Manager has a copy and reads it several times. Your techs are helpful and courteous, but the people running your business are in dire need of professional training. read more
