It's an adorable shop run by an amazing group of incredible, caring people who put a great deal of time and effort into curating a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life. They are very selective about the items that they agree to consign, so shoppers have a ton of high-quality, in-style options to choose from. It's honestly dangerous to go in there because there is always something cute that I MUST have; however, if you have a clothing problem like I do, when you're not buying new, you can at least shop with a clean conscience! On the other end, the consignment process is simple, clear, and quick, and you are reasonably compensated when your items sell, especially if you opt for store credit payout. The dressing rooms are honestly my favorite part. When you walk in, you're greeted by hundreds of sticky notes with positive affirmations posted by other shoppers. It's like the positivity and immediate camaraderie you find in the womens' restroom at a club (but without all of the bottom-shelf liquor). Shop small, and shop secondhand!

As far as malls go, Fashion Square is pretty fair. It seems better already (as far as available…read moreshops) than when I originally moved to Cville three years ago. There are still a few vacant storefronts which always feels a bit sad, but at least one or two of them have signs that something is coming soon. There is a decent selection of restaurants, though I've never eaten at any of them. I do usually prefer an actual food court, to keep the food and eating folks separate from the clothing shops, maybe just because that's what I'm used to, but it feels weird to have all the tables with people eating right outside other kinds of shops. I think Fashion Square just isn't big enough to have a full designated food court area. Otherwise the main mall areas, bathrooms and stores all seem clean and well-kept. I have only visited the mall maybe 3 or 4 times, and usually for one or two specific shops, but it's always a kinda fun blast from the past to wander around a mall for a bit of time.

I only noticed one or two storefronts "in transition" and that's unusual these days. Charlottesville Fashion Square is the town shopping mall. Shaped like a large plus sign with the anchors at the main four points. JC Penney, Belk (times two) and Sears. The mall is on one level and is surrounded by parking. Most of the entrances will be through one of those anchor stores and there are three others that are not. There is also a spot in the back for local bus service. Other than being very well populated, the mall is in good condition with good lighting, smooth floors and lots of spots in the middle to sit and wait for your wife to buy her stuff.

I was looking through the…read moreracks and found everything was very trendy and super cute, however when I tried to find my size I was unable to find anything over a size Large or size 30 waist (size 8). When I approached the owner about finding something in another size she mentioned that she carried sizes that were appropriate to her customer base and if she stocked items with every size available she wouldn't make any money. Basically shaming me for needing a larger size. I wasn't asking for anything extreme just a size XL (to fit the girls) or a size 10 jeans. I don't need the rude attitude and I'll happily take my business downtown to another boutique in town that doesn't passively fat shame women.

Easy to get here from the Metro's Pentagon City stop .. when you get off the Metro and exit the turnstiles, just follow the signs at the "T" for Fashion Centre. There's a mix of regular and high end stores here, so you're sure to find a store that has what you're looking for. The food court has a number of fast food options, but you'll need to walk around nearby for better-than-fast-food. The one thing that annoyed me was no directory! None of the boards that should've been directories displayed any kind of map. And no, I do not have any interest in scanning a QR code to pull up something on my phone: in a public place like that, I have no idea if it's legit or not, or if it's a fake one that will hijack my phone or wallet. It was very crowded with high school kids hanging out and playing games in the area. I was able to go around and check out the different stores. On the bottom floor there are several food options. I was able to pick up some food at Harleys Sandwiches. You have your usual fast food options available. Afterwards you can head out and catch the metro nearby. It is easy to get to from DC or Virginia. I enjoyed coming here to get out of the heat and relax for a while.

You're greeted when you walk in with a sales associate mentioning the deals, and asking if you need help with finding something. It's very clean and tidy in the store and well-lit. When we walked through the store to peruse the selection, there were a lot of cute button downs and of course now with spring/summer you have dresses, tees, shorts, etc. I also saw some office type clothes like a blazer which I'm now on the lookout for with my new role being essentially fully in-office no remote, so time to update my wardrobe. I ended up snagging the heart button down that was on clearance. They had a decent clearance section for women but I didn't see any for men or kids, just regular priced and/or sale items. I also saw nice accessories and adorable socks. The sales were ranging from 40-60% from what I remember, and when I walked into the store initially I also saw that passport members get $10 off an item when they sign up with email (free). Being in Pickett Shopping Center, there's a ton of parking and plenty of food, entertainment, retail options.
