A bustling promenade lined with restaurants, clothing shops, bookstores, specialty shops and a movie theater, the Downtown Mall is an exciting place to visit. Most of the restaurants are pricey, but there are a few affordable, casual spots. Many of the eateries have their menus displayed outside so you can peek at the offerings before you commit to entering. The middle of the mall is peppered with lots of outdoor seating, kiosks, and there's even a small merry-go-round at one end for the wee tots. It was fun to walk up and down the brick pathways listening to street musicians and people watching. There were quite a few homeless folks with signs asking for money, fyi. Parking can be a challenge, but there's a few enclosed parking structures nearby. We parked at an open lot where you pay at an automated machine and it prints a ticket to display in your car. Charlottesville is a great town and this mall is a popular venue. Don't forget to visits the shops and restaurants on the little side streets and be prepared for some crowds but a fun experience!

The Charlottesville downtown mall is a delightful outside area where you will find a great combination of restaurants, bars and shops. I like that the space has been blocked to traffic so you can walk around the mall without worrying about cars. With the pandemic certain places have closed. Hopefully once everyone is back, the mall will reach its full potential. I love the trees amongst the shops.

Downtown Charlottesville is a nice walkable stretch of shops, restaurants, and bars. Since COVID it looks like several places have closed down unfortunately. Many of the restaurants have outdoor seating or are doing takeout orders online, either via their website or the Toast app.

The Downtown is interesting to walk around . They have a lot of little shops to look in, a little place to get ice cream, a chalk board to write on, some metal statues , some construction nearby and of course a little candy shop. On a beautiful day, it would be nice to sit outside. I know some of the places have bands and such and there is a covered area that has bands.

Charlottesville's Downtown Mall is a true wonder, not only in the area but the entire Commonwealth of Virginia and perhaps region/nation. There are very few walkable mall areas in the United States that are generally sealed off to cars in a fashion more typically found in, for example, European countries. The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville is not just a sampling of that style but a full embrace of it, as it is extremely large and has a multitude of interesting, well-placed, and thought-out stores that make it an endless delight to enjoy. Some of the sites that stand out on the Downtown Mall are its concert venue at one end, its free speech wall where citizens can chalk in their thoughts, the Charlottesville government facilities, a slew of unique local restaurants ranging from dense bars to high-end places, snack shops, a local theater, an escape room facility, and much more. The array of stores packed densely into this already very expansive development is incredible. There are a very large amount of parking facilities all around the downtown mall ranging from extensive street parking, parking lots, and big parking garages. I recommend taking your time and looking carefully at the shops bit by bit - because of how densely its all jammed together and how unique/non-brand a lot of the stores are it is easy for your eye to miss some truly amazing finds. I'd say don't hesitate to try anything out, as if it's on the Downtown Mall it very likely has some minimum in uniqueness and quality. What a great place to enjoy in Charlottesville and if one is looking for something more mature than the typical UVA college hangout areas.

This little strip is gorgeous. Back alleys with tons of boutique vendors. Street vendors and live music was such a vibe. Love visiting charlottesville we will be back soon!

Most of these open to a central hall/hallway with lots of seating. Each of these have their own yelp page so there's no point reviewing them here but it's a great collection. The building has a couple large private parking lots. Today it's raining out and in the 30/40s. I had to be out of my house for a few hours with my dog. It turns out while there are a lot of businesses in Charlottesville that have outdoor patios that are dog friendly, very few let you bring them inside. Main Street Market is the one exception I could find. Dogs are allowed in their seating area since all food prep is done in the shops. Our pup has enjoyed all of the attention he's received from passersby and I've enjoyed not having to be outside for four hours. The one downside is that there doesn't seem to be a public WiFi option. Several of the businesses have WiFi but it's all password protected.

I bought a pair of Simple brand shoes, made form bamboo and silk, among other things. To be honest, many of the styles were a little too granola for me, but not to the point that I couldn't find something comfortable and cute for me to wear. What I liked, I really liked. Even my boyfriend found a pair of casual sneakers (Tevas) that he liked, and I got a pair of white Campers on sale. It's connected in the middle to a clothing store that has a lot of eco-cotton-modal fabric. It can be chic looking if worn right, but it's damn comfortable regardless. If I was preggers, I'd definitely hit this store up, but even in my non-pregnant state I could appreciate many items. Flowy cotton summer dresses that breathe sound really good about now, anyway.

When my 11 year old daughter delighted over the Day of the Dead skirts and tops she meanly told her that she was "too big" for the tops. According to her, they're for kids 5 and under. And the matching skirts for adults only. Seriously? Then she proceeded to say that skirts weren't made for kids because who would spend $155 on a kid's skirt. She was visibly annoyed by my daughter's interest in their things. She made no attempt to suggest alternatives, be kind, or actually sell anything. I had planned to buy $200 boots but I left without purchasing them. I will never spend money there.

Mike sized me up and was immediately on the phone to order my suit from his supplier, with expedited shipping at no extra charge. The price was a bit more than I'd pay at Men's Warehouse, but not a whole lot more, and the garments are of noticeably higher quality, and each suit comes with lifetime free alterations. He called me the minute it came in, and I went down to try it on. It fit great, and looked great, but I immediately noticed it was a charcoal grey, rather than the lighter grey I wanted, and which I heard Mike order on the phone. In short, I knew it was the supplier's mistake, not the Shop's. But Mike didn't pass the buck, didn't explain it away. He took accountability for his supplier's mistake, and had the charcoal suit altered for me to use in my interview, and ordered the correct grey one for me when I get back. I was expecting to give back the charcoal one, but when I returned to try on the altered suit, he insisted I keep both for the trouble. I was blown away. Mike's words were "I do business the right way, the way it used to be done". Indeed. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
