I called Acab and they were able to pick up my family and take to a motel. Then later after AAA did not respond when they were supposed again- 12:15 AM, the cab co was able to come pick me up and take to the motel. The owner/driver was able to find one of the local constables and we relayed to them that our van was broke down and we would be taking care of it tomorrow and to not have us towed. They also gave me quick run down of the city and where the fine eating establishment were. They know the area well. Big thanks to them.

The cabin itself is in nice condition, but the details fell short. Mismatched towels, Equate-brand toiletries, holes in the linens, and visible damage around the tub area took away from the experience. The comforter had a musty odor, and there were multiple maintenance issues, including a buzzing refrigerator that disrupted sleep and a television with static sound. For the price and award-winning status, we expected a higher level of upkeep and attention to detail. We had a great time, but the current condition does not reflect a premium stay.

I really wanted to write a stellar review for Michael Angelos, but in good conscience I can't…read more After an exciting meeting in a beautiful space, I paid the $300 deposit to have the company decorate and light my Notre Dame wedding. My budget was $4000, which isn't extravagant, but in South Bend, when I am providing my own linens and chargers and even candleholders, should get me what I envisioned. Fast forward to the planning meeting. The designer suggests putting this here, and that there. Everything looks great. All the while, I keep reminding her of my budget and she assures me everything will be wonderful. Two weeks later, I receive her design proposal which was OVER DOUBLE my budget. They also wanted to charge me $2000 solely for set up!! Although she fixed the proposal to be more within budget, the proposed decor and flowers were very plain, completely lacking in any wow factor. As a result of this, I ended up going with merryme events. Cher was able to give me my vision within my budget. It goes without saying that any wedding could be breathtaking if money was no object. However, the mark of a good florist and designer is making a beautiful space within a designated budget. They missed the mark completely. I did apply the $300 for uplighting at my wedding which was fine.

Hooray for Jonathon. That's the best place to start. We were…read moreso grateful we found him and had Kaleidoscope Events as our deejay for our wedding in May. My husband and I planned our wedding from 2,000 miles away and I relied on reviews to source, what we considered, the most important vendor. I think the deejay is such a memorable component to the day and I've walked away from so many weddings where they didn't hit the mark or were flat out rude to the guests. As soon as we had our first FaceTime meeting with Jonathan, we knew we had made the right choice. Jonathan and Elizabeth are so organized and they shared Google docs of the Must Play and Do Not Play lists. They were right on top of the timeline and worked with us to find the right versions of our special songs and the ambient music for during dinner. The day of the wedding, they were so professional and their set up is just right. They didn't have obnoxious screens or promotional posters. The uplighting was also tasteful. Jonathan was a great emcee and checked in with us before requests were played. He was also helpful in working with the other staff and vendors on the fly. I've never seen a deejay so on the ball! We got so so so many compliments about our playlists and Jonathan's choices. The dance floor was literally never empty. He brilliant played two slow songs in a row which got SO many people out there with their loved ones. I still visit that memory. Do yourself a favor and book Kaleidoscope Events as soon as you can. You're giving yourself a gift!

First off, I loved that the location has both an outside (Prairie Terrace) that is surrounded by nature and a lovely/elegant, grand ballroom on the inside (Galena room). So naturally, I chose to have both my ceremony AND reception there! What I also really liked about the "plan B" location for the ceremony just in case it rained (Prairie view room). Secondly, the event coordinator there, Sue, was such a huge help! I met with her on several occasions going over the food (Heston provides the food-so good!), drink, chair/table, and decoration options. Could't have done it without her! Third and final point, is that all of this was at a very good price! I was looking around for several months trying to find venues that had what I was looking for that didn't come with a Chicago amount price tag. It was a win-win in the end! The day of the wedding came around and everything went so smoothly! Nothing went wrong at all-absolutely flawless! Sue and her assistant kept the flow of things moving at a good pace and they arranged everything with the vendors on site. Thank you so much again! So, if you're looking for a perfect ceremony and/or reception site, look no further :)

Indeed, it was one of the more beautiful wedding spaces I have been too, but it was so secluded cell phone reception for myself and multiple guests was iffy at best. Not that I was dying to talk on my phone, but I think if you are considering this place for your wedding/event - look into it. I used my cell phone non stop on my wedding day - as getting ahold of your wedding party is crucial. So, just something to think about - may be an issue for some. Wedding was outside on a terrace overlooking a gorgeous area of tree lined land (no tent, but I heard they are available) and it was really spacious. Reception was inside and the banquet room was nice and had huge windows overlooking some woods which was really nice and different from the typical boring banquet facilities. Food was delicious - although I wish the portions had been a little bigger. If i'm drinking for more than 3 hours I need a substantial base. :) All in all - really enjoyed it. About two hours from Chicago, and although we didn't stay at a hotel, there are plenty within 15-20 minutes.
