Loved my experience here, called and made a rush appointment because I was going to be in town for just a day. She accommodated my request for an early morning slot (9am) and gave me a trim + curly hair perm. It turned out so well, got the voluminous lift I was looking for, AND she charged $70-90 less than what other places I'd called in the area had quoted (then I added a lot of tip for great service). We spoke in Korean to make the booking + during the appointment. I'm coming back here every time I'm in the DMV and need a perm or cut. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved my haircut and experience here. Wow…read more I should've visited this local business sooner. Located in this area, stores are known to be always closing by Hair By Lynn has been here for a while. I made my appointment by calling their phone on the Google page, it was a Friday at 1:45 PM and I asked if they had any at 2, they told me 2:30 would be great, and that I can be a bit late if I would like. I came at exactly 2:30 and they were able to take me in at my appointment time. I don't know the name of the person who cut my hair but she had purple and black hair. She walked me to the seat. She brushed my hair out and made sure it wasn't hurting or getting caught too much. Really cared for my comfort. She asked what I was looking for? Are you looking to cut a little bit? I said yes! as I am very attached to my long hair. She took some of the hair and asked if the amount was good, I confirmed. Later she recommended that we cut just a little bit more to get rid of the split ends. In addition she asked if I wanted any layers or shorter hair in the front. I got light/little layers and said yes I would like shorter hair in the front. She recommended it as it would look nice when my hair is tied up. She spent around ~15 minute for my trim and I absolutely love it!! There are no longer split ends and the hair looks cute when tied up! Cost was $27.00 for women's haircut on July 23, 2021 I love that she respected my wants of keeping my hair long and made sure my bad split ends were gone! I would totally come back here again any day. I can brush my hair nicely now!

I had searched for pictures of what I was trying to achieve, ( she would have NO clue from looking at all the hair on my head) Upon entering the salon, I noticed all employees were wearing masks and gloves. She took my temperature too. I proceeded to show Lynn the pictures and running my hands through my hair explaining this and that. She asked if she could cut my hair it by spritzing it with water. It would help her get a better feel for my hair. The thickness, the volume, strength and health. Made sense to me....and I had just washed it a few hours before. Very professional and skilled. It was like magic Lynn cut and snipped, and snipped some more. Took out her hair clipper to get it nice and tight by my ear and around the back of my neck. In about 30 minutes it was shaping up looking more to my thoughts and wishes. I wear my hair shorter these days. Asymmetrical too... (This explains alot about me ! ) Let's be honest its not the easiest to find a new hair stylists. Sometimes it takes months even years....I believe I may have found mine !!!

Being irritated with that, I gave them a phone call and they said they would redo it for free. I wasn't sure if they would keep their word, since some businesses are cheap and stingy. Best part is that my husband also gets his hair cut from here! This is very convenient because we can book together! As a heads up, they usually have a dog that chills on the sofa. Review on hair cut only…read more Ok, the place looks pretty bad and it looks like only 90 year old ladies would come here. When my stylish gf recommended this place, I was actually pretty shocked. She looks like the type of person who would only cut her hair at a fancy salon. So when she recommended me to this small and dated hair salon located next to a bathhouse, I was really skeptical at first. I've always had long hair, and I've had it butchered by many hair salons in the U.S. Yes, it is really hard to find a good hair salon that handles Asian hair very well. Annie's hair design gave me the best hair cut I had in VA, so I have to give her a 5 star despite some imperfections. I went to another salon after Annie's and then my hair got butchered again (and it has over 4.5 yelp raiting!!!), so I am growing it out till I can get a decent hair cut. My hair currently looks horrible with weird edges, so this time I will return to Annie's. I read a negative review about washing and drying hair before cutting it. This is a normal procedure in Korean hair salons. In fact, I always look forward to getting my hair washed and blow dried before getting a cut. The reason is, since the stylist water sprays your hair anyway for a cut, why not wash it and give a little head massage to make both client and hair dresser feel good? I am sure no one would like to touch dirty hair either. She does seem to like using razor to cut your hair, so if you don't like the style, you might not like it. For me, she only used her scissors to cut chunks, and then used razor for a detailed cut. I personally really liked it, and it was probably one of the best hair cuts I got outside of Korea. Hair cut for long hair was $45.
