One of the bigger Michael's around the DMV area. Good selection, but the location suffers the same malaise of most of their staff as other Michael's locations I've been to - folks on the floor are not eager to help or answer questions. Cashier was very nice though.

I had an extraordinary experience here on Sunday (2/6/2022). Long story short, I needed a 40"x16" piece of glass for a frame. thought I could get it at Lowe's, couldn't. called this nearby Michael's, spoke to someone on the phone, found out they'd cut it on the spot and headed over. When I got to the counter, all I said was, "I called..." and Olga replied, "40 inch?!" Olga proceeded to advise me on glass selection, spoke with me about putting the frame back together (glass and metal don't play well sometimes); showed me EXACTLY how to handle the glass when I was ready to go, even told me about cleaning products when I asked. She helped me a couple of other things as well. Her coworkers were also happy and friendly and helpful to their own customers. On observing that, Olga told me that this particular Michael's has a LOT of long-term employees. UNHEARD OF, even before COVID, let alone now. But there you are. This store is obviously being run well, everyone seemed truly happy to be there doing their jobs. I live in Alexandria. Getting to this Michael's was happenstance. I was at church in McLean, went to the nearest Lowe's from there, struck out, went to the nearest Michael's from there. Cross my heart, even though there are 6 stores showing on the map EASILY more convenient to me, Olga is my girl, ride or die. I'm never going to another Michael's. Thank you Olga, I hope you see this... I'm attaching a photo of my restored artwork, I still can't believe how much better it looks with the new high tech glass!

Bird houses. My cat will love this!

Are you an Art student? Brings me back to my college days...Michaels has a resourceful cache of brushes/watercolors/canvas. Children's Section: Stocked with various puzzles/toys/drawing books. Home Projects * Equipped with supplies/instructions on painting walls/doors * Sewing machines/materials to sew on buttons/fix pant holes. Wall Frames: Whether its capturing sports moments/keeping family memories alive, Michaels has the frames. Is Spring around the corner? Michaels has wreaths/garlands/accents.

This is a solid Michaels - not the best or worst. It's never crazy crowded and they are generally stocked on sale items earlier in the week. I wish they did better restocking their deals or merchandise in general. Service is generally great @ checkout, & store is never in total disarray. I'm getting into crafting and they have all sorts of crazy useful things @ not ridiculous prices. I get their circular & it encourages me to buy more. I think they have better prices but Hobby Lobby has a better selection & variety.

No fall wreaths here! Are you kidding me? Limited fall decor, only Halloween. What is happening to this store?!

I didn't want to go somewhere I'd be looked at suspect or like a unicorn, so I searched for a Black-owned yarn shop. To my surprise, Gathering Yarns was just 25 minutes from DC and worth the drive. The yarn shop is a standard storefront in a strip mall, so it was both easy and difficult to find at the same time. You can't miss the mall itself, but you'll have to scan to notice the store. The interior is cute with a modest selection of yarn, needles, and other accessories. The skein I bought was reasonably priced, but since I'm a new knitter, relative value is still unclear. I took the beginner knitting class and the instructors were great. They give you one-on-one attention and focus on your learning style and your strengths. I learned the basics and will definitely be going back for more lessons. All-in-all I really dig this place and will definitely be back.

For the insanely cheap price of $130 dollars or so i got to have two official knitting lessons and as much sit and knit as I could possibly want. I started in September when classes started again after the summer and pretty much went to every sit and knit I was entitled too go to every sat and sun from then untill I left DC to move to Cali in June 2014. I miss sit and knit and the expertise and friendships I made at this class. I not only got my monies worth but gained even more in friendship and life long skills. I made fingerless gloves, scarves (5 in total) a bear and am now working on a bedside mat. I believe some people have had some issues below which quite frankly leave me perplexed - How can something be a scam if you get your money back from groupon? This is a one woman show, which pretty much means if something comes up then things might not happen. Thats just the way it is when you run a small business by yourself. The number of times I witnessed people coming to class not reading what they needed to bring or where they needed to meet were so numerous and somehow this was never their fault. Take responsibility for yourselves please people. You are an adult!

I recently visited Arcana's Video Games Store after driving a considerable distance through heavy…read moretraffic because of the positive reviews I had read and the information on their website indicating that they accept trade-ins and support multiple video game platforms. The website even displays logos for the major gaming companies, which gave me confidence that my items would be considered. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. I brought two Xbox systems to trade in: an Xbox One X White Special Edition and an Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive. After arriving, the employee informed me that they were no longer accepting Xbox trade-ins because Xbox products were "not selling well." He also mentioned that I should have called ahead first. This was surprising, as there was no indication of this policy change on their website, which clearly indicate that trade-ins are accepted and it was the main reasons I made the long trip to the store. During the interaction, I also noticed an Xbox One console for sale in the store. When I mentioned this, the employee explained that it was a special edition. I responded that, given the price it was listed at, it might be difficult to sell. Additionally, after briefly inspecting my systems, the employee incorrectly stated that my Xbox One X was a digital edition. I had to point out that it clearly has a disc drive and is in fact the white special edition model. Overall, the experience felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially after explaining that I had driven a long distance specifically because the store advertised trade-ins. If the store has changed its trade-in policies, it would be very helpful to update that information online so customers do not waste their time making unnecessary trips. This was my first experience with Arcana's, and unfortunately it will likely be my last.
