What I thought would be a 30 minute shopping trip ended up being an extensive historical visit. So many looms! It was so fascinating to see the variety and hear about the history of any loom I inquired about. I even got to see Jacquard looms for the first time, an inspiration for the first computers! As a data nerd, I geeked out over this, especially since I had recently read Code Girls about the now forgotten women computers, code breakers, and cryptanalysts. Oh, yeah! And they have yarn, too. I went in desperate with a damaged sweater I had made. She stopped what she was doing and spent over an hour both helping me fix my sweater and assisting me with a pattern I didn't understand. It's a small space but it's well organized by source for the yarn, and the yarn is definitely showcased. There were also notions like cute handmade stitchmarkers and Miss Purl needle sizers. I hadn't known, but apparently Sundays are open knitting days, so there was a group of knitters and crocheters who seemed to be having a real fun time together. I bought a skein of yarn, and they even prepped it into a center pull ball for me, which was a life saver as I don't have a lazy Kate. Will definitely be returning for future projects!
