I love this place. They have so much food and it's all delicious. I got to try the stuffed pepper soup, which I'm sure isn't an everyday option. It was absolutely delicious! You can't get soup like this just anywhere. They have good breakfast options too. They staff is really nice. The restaurant is old and the décor is pretty old as well. It makes the personality of the restaurant, though, and I like it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good home cooked meal. read more

A nice little diner with amicable staff and homely food. In case you didn't know, they DO accept debit or credit cards now, which is a major improvement. I had the three blueberry hotcakes, which the waitress smartly informed my family and me was *cheaper* than just ordering two--a significant detail. The food was home-cooked quality, and pretty good. Two complaints, however; first, the booth we sat at had very uncomfortable seats, which felt like the cushions had lost any semblance of cushiony-ness about them. It was like sitting on an open-topped wooden crate overlaid with imitation leather. Second, the only hot tea available was Lipton brand, which is definitely a lower class for anyone who likes hot tea, generally. Twinings or Wallington would have been a huge step up. Even so, neither of those things were too noticeable when the food arrived. So with those hiccups aside, this is a place I'll likely mention to my friends in a positive light. read more

Had the veggie omlet (egg white/cheddar cheese). Nothing to write home about. Overpriced for what you get for the omlet at least. Other things are cheaper. Daily Grind (across the street) has a burrito bowl that is much better & about the same price. Much more egg, bigger choice of cheeses & has avocado. read more

Had no idea this place was here. At first I was a little put off by the outdated décor, however the nostalgic feel and pleasant atmosphere, combined with the cleanliness made it worth trying. The food was great. I tried the French toast and while you can't really mess it up, it was tasty. Prices were more than fair and the service was quick and pleasant. We seemed to be outsiders since there are a lot of regulars there, but we will surely be back. read more

This was an impulse stop, as we were making a drive down E High we saw this little shop, and decided to stop and give it a shot. Me and the wife had been here for just about 1 week after we made our big move from Cali. The waitress Jeanie (sorry if spelled wrong) came over and got our drink orders almost immediately, didn't make us feel rushed just cared for. I usually gauge how fast a breakfast service brings out their food by the amount of time it takes me to finish my cup of coffee. However, I can't use that reference because every time my coffee got a little low, it was almost instantly filled back up again. By either our waitress or another that was passing by with a pot. It did seem to come out rather fast though. I got the western Omelette(Peppers, tomatoes, onion, ham and cheese), toast, and a side of bacon. It was about 8 bucks (Not the cheapest but not outrageous either), but the Omelette is a sizable portion and the bacon is some of the best I've had. The real reason for my 5 stars though is the staff. On our second visit 3 days later the waitress immediately recognized us, and after a warm and friendly greeting, asked if we wanted the same drinks as last time. On our 3rd visit about 4 days after that, when we walked in just before some snow and ice was about to hit (We were out getting our new place stocked with some food), one of the cooks whom we had never talked to before told us "Oh hi again! We weren't sure if you would be able to make it in because of the weather." Which lead to a very pleasant conversation about that weekends events. When you are as new to an area as it gets and you don't know anyone it's nice to find a place that doesn't just make you feel welcome, they actually recognize you and greet you warmly. They have definitely earned themselves two regulars with their warmth and hospitality. P.S. we showed up at about 12:30 on a Saturday when they close at 1, in no way did we feel rushed (I felt a little guilty myself as I have worked in the food industry and feel their pain), the service was just quick and efficient. read more

I had received great comments about this place, so we decided to give it a try. We've been here over a year, from California, and we were still unfamiliar with good restaurants in the area. We didn't realize the restaurant closed early on Saturday, and arrived at 12:35pm. The server came right up to us and asked for our drink order. From the moment we sat down, we felt as if she was rushing to take our order. When she returned to take our order, the service didn't seem friendly. She never once came back to check back after we had received our food. BTW; In food service work, a good server checks back with the customer within 2 minutes after order has been delivered. At about 5 minutes from closing, customers walked in and as she passed our booth, she said to the other server from a distance, "aren't we closed?" Not appropriate in front of customers! The food was not what we expected. The menu for breakfast said Steak, my husband was expecting a nice steak not cubed steak. Oh well,,,, the cook was nice & friendly. read more
